Absolutely love the Lydia + Simon combo in these. They both have always been on point individually too, but together their characters and RP just bounce off each other so well!
On the one hand, I'm a little concerned they might overshadow the quieter members of the table, but on the other hand they simply are hilarious together.
Murder Rates per Capita: #3 St. Louis, Missouri: 64.54 murders per 100,000 residents #2 Cabot Cove, Main: 274 murders per 3500 residents #1 Brindlewood Bay: It's probably about a 1:1
It’s me, just some random viewer! Since Tom is so humble and doesn’t shill his membership, I will! The pre-game/post-game interview type videos that come with the channel membership are kind of the only time you get to see the players out of character and explicitly sharing their takes on the game. They talk about how the game COULD have gone, what scenarios Tom had prepared but didn’t happen upon, the players’ internal thoughts, extra context for the characters’ backstories, etc.! Are you ready to see the golden, TTRPG meta content that helps this channel be financially viable? Or are you on: a Mystery Quest??
24:03 This Stu guy is really good at old lady chit chat, "Oh I offered to do the catering but they said no!" "They were a bad fit to be honest," it's like hearing the old lady customers at work Edit: Simon too apparently, with his old mr sun monologue
Tom: "We are in the town of Brindlewood bay. It's a quaint tourist spot in New England" Me: *eyes narrow* "I'm onto you, Mr. Tom. I expect rambling cultists, shadowy figures, maddening tomes and lots of tentacles!"
I was delighted to see some new players here. For anybody with the means who might be considering it, I have not once regretted my membership: the behind the scenes character creation bit for this episode was truly hilarious, and helped me warm up to Stu, who I've not seen in videos before. It's short, sweet, and hilarious.
Same and the after game chat is great aswell you learn about stuff that could happen or bits that were cut content which makes the story that much more spooky or interesting
Deputy Donovan apparently didn't give them life jackets, so in my head cannon when he says he's all about boat safety, he means he's all about keeping the boat safe, not the people on it 😄
The microphones they are using are specifically biased towards adding a warm tone to voices. Not that they will make people sound deeper, but they just emphasize it when they do sound deep
Stu's voice is absolutely phenomenal; if he doesn't have a career in voice acting then it's something he should pursue in the future. Hope to see more of him on this channel in the future.
Pog, it's the elderly lady murder mystery system tom said he was excited about in that members Q&A (become a member people, the after game chats and the Q&A are very pog), this should be fuckin great Also welcome to Mystery Quest Stu and Kirsty!
@@keeferli8692 More than the specific of what it is, maybe it's helpful to also try and describe it's cultural context. I'd say it kind of has a tacky, lowbrow image, to the extent that it's a kind of "go to" name when you want to invoke a particular class of drinker. It's a drink that was popular in the seventies as a kind of aspirational, wannabe-highbrow product. (Think also kind of Ferrero Rocher, Vienetta if either of those names mean anything to you. Products where a large part of their image is in a marketing of themselves as being "classy" in some way that patently outstrips their actual class and price point.) But in reality in conjures more lower class images when people think of the stereotype people actually drinking it: girls on hen dos, over-the-top miniskirts and make-up, even "chavvy" perhaps, that sort of thing. That's just my best attempt, people might have slightly different cultural descriptions of it (and of course these sorts of stereotypes and imagery are always just that!). But Babycham has a very definite sense of an image somewhere in that sort of ballpark, so that it's kind of a comedy trope people easily call upon and everyone knows the vibe they're trying to invoke.
I'm 12 min in and i love it. I guess it turns out that I'm a classic-murder-mystery-crime fan. It just took 36 years and a youtube-makebelieve-show to realize.
A lighter toned video was nice actually, everything is so scary now and its nice to just laugh and watch you guys be silly! ALSO LOVE THE MUSHROOM SHIRT TOM!
Tom!!! I recently found you lot and though I am now a huge fan of everyone's work I am finding in this amazing group of talented individuals, you are my favourite Dungeon Master!!! LOVE your work, thrilled to have found you! 🖤🖤
I did not know I needed to see members of the Yogscast pretending to be crime solving old ladies, but here we are. Looking forward to episode 2 already!
Very much enjoying this - very cosy and humorous. Absolutely love all the players going over the top with their roleplaying, clearly you're all having a great time.
would be hilarious taking the plot of one of the corny british detective shows like midsomer murders and make it a MQ to see how the outrageous storyline translates.
I clean the bathroom every Sunday here in AUS, for about an hour. The perfect time for these videos to come out. Thank you Tom and the crew for making the mundane more magical 🤞🥺
and later the ongoing series of... angory toms clever ways to engage the audience and players by tricking them to do some of the gm description scene painting work for him!
Chances of getting a Brindlewood Bay campaign with all the creepy stuff? possible to do it as modules, swaping players but keep previous happenings as canon
Curious about casting each group- are there volunteers? Does Tom have an inkling that so and so would be good for a particular Quest? I love that we get regulars and mysterious new peeps as well. Thanks for not making me wait too long between games!
Lydia's package for character creation: dead husband, variable accent, preferably rich and snooty
Also alcoholic.

Stu is over here with a cinematic British crime film voice, absolutely nailing being a little old lady 😮😊

Flirty Voice: "Did I ever tell you my ex-husband's brain exploded?"
I really love Tom's style of GM'ing where he treats it like he's directing a show. All the "Cut to" etc. Great for helping with visualizations.
He really is an excellent storyteller!
Lydia’s “I don’t understand French” to explain why she didn’t understand the family is on a boat was amazing

Brindlewood Bay - named after famous Lebanese child - LewLew Brindleberry
nobody expected the 8 year old lebanese child to be so impactful
@@VanBournerEspecially not old Bertha Richardson when she hit little LewLew with her car.
No one expects the Brindlewood pusher
Having Lewis appear would've been really funny, I can see all the bad puns they would've come up with.

Great episode! Tom is really nailing the ratio and timing between the goofier and the 'serious' games on this channel, gotta say.
"I don't understand French!" I absolutely died.
This is fun, I love a collaborative story telling experience!
So happy that they are finally trying to bring justice to the various victims of the Bristol Pusher, thanks mystery quest!

Simon sobbing with laughter because they're "wrecking his mystery quest" lol
Stu is welcome to the mystery quest squad he's great and seems to be getting more and more into it as the ep goes on
Glad to see Lydia is loving these games! She's great
Never laughed so hard, when they were getting on the boat, Simons little old lady was hilarious. Good job cant wait for next episode
Gotta love how Simon going a little overboard with the jokes nearly made him go overboard!
I love PBtA games, but this was NOT the one I expected to be the first one they play.
Amazing as always!
I love how quintessentially British all the characters are 😂
Man, the opening-vignettes where such a _perfectly_ done tone-setter, I instinctually started gathering a woolen blanket and a cup of honeyed tea.
"I DON'T UNDERSTAND FREEENNNNCCCHHH!!!" omfg lol...
Becoming a member is worth it just for their reaction to Quirky Gurty's Shirts and Skirties
WOW! Kirsty was so good! Bring her back again!
More Korsty more good.
😭 not the canned peaches!
39:22 - "Monet back" ok shut it down folks you can't top that! 🤣
Great show! Thanks everyone! 💜
Let me say, this actual play channel is excellent! I have enjoyed everything ive seen from this channel and keep up the amazing work! ❤️
Feels odd not to have Brindley-wood in this one. Then again, if someone drowned, maybe they were pushed... I suppose we know how this ends.
