Dam, I love it when the Engine sings her Song over 200 km/h. Than you can hear for what she is born............. Thumbs up when you think the same!!!!!
Reminds me of my black 03 Z06. Drove it across country and had a blast when I bought it. Solo trip. Sold the car a year later to pay to other things. Regret it now and looking for another! :)
Just listen to the deep, guttural wail of the small-block LS6 as it revs past 4000 rpm, resonating throughout the cabin in an awe-inspiring crescendo. Remarkable!
Wow id love to take my 2004 Corvette (base hardtop) to the autobahn. 180+ MPH looks like SO much fun. Here in the U.S. you're REALLY pushing it at half that... LOL
Awesome,.............and I love the permanent passing left turn signal on. The sound is intoxicating and your top speeds were impressive. Thanks for posting. Notice how German drivers YIELD ? Pass on the left, slow on the right. So simple, yet too much for average driver in North America.
One very bad ass C5 with a professional driver. Your so good behind the wheel it looks fake like your on rails. So cool that drivers actually pull over & let you pass on the Autobahn. The ferw that tried to hang quickly realized holy shit I'm trying to lead a beast here..let me get the fuck over! That engine sound is like crack cocaine man..extremely addicting. Thanks for the excellent post. I learned alot about driving just watching.
The autobahn is sick. I love how the other drivers in the left lane move out of the way, and its respectful of you to not whip around the right side of them like the new yorkers do out here. Anyway you were prolly doing like 170mph tops which is soo sick. And now that i have virtually driven a C5 (via this video) I Want a C5 corvette that much more.
This brings back memories from 1984 thru 1991. In 1984 I took my brand new 84 Vette to Germany and had the time of my life driving on the autobahn taking it to 150 mph, it was my top speed, that year the car had only 200 hp and the European cars were faster due to more power and less restrictions, I would like to go back and take my 1998 Vette and have more fun than before.
I absolutely love how these drivers use the fast lane for passing ONLY! That's what it's used for, passing regardless of speed, these drivers pass who they need too then get the hell up and out of the way. Even the Vett moves over when there's nobody in the right lane. I wish people drove like this in America, instead you got grandma doing 40 in the left lane and morons passing on the right, that's how people get killed and the reason we have speed limits.
I agree, but many folk pass on the right here because slow driving grandma resents their tailgating her, and feels entitled to the lane, she ain't moving. It would be a beautiful day if we adopt the European driving disciplines.
+norm hughes are you kidding man!??? "german driving style" ? i am from germany and i wonder what you are talking about. on the congested autobahn you have to worry about pesky salesmen in their company vehciles (mostly TDI VW/Audi estates) scrambling and shoving . in America however, you have millions of miles of wide open roads wher you can virtaually drive hands free and with eyes closed if you wish to do so, without anything or anyone bothering you. i'd say that is clearly better and easily preferable over what we have here in germany. (save for the very few section of the autobahn that actually have an open speed limit) greetings from germany
In a few month she'll have around 110HP more...let's see then Exhaust is: complete AR line + Borla Stinger quad exhaust And yes: one rule = respect the others and you can enkoy the liberty on German Highways I'm often passed by recent Ferraris, Lambos, KOenigsegg etc, even AMG's (there's a lot of money driving in Germany)...but I always let them pass and enjoy their sound
that happened to me a couple years ago in my c6z06. i steered out of the way and did a drift going 240. driving skills saved my life. i am lucky to be alive. after that i didnt drive it for 3 days.
***** 26 years of living in the US, and never been to this type of a highway....maybe I should rephrase for the special ones. Have perfect roads with no speed regulations.
With my step-father , only him and me , we spent a day driving on german autobahn , and Ican answer in only two words : respect and pleasure ... Most of the people that I met asked to me how fast we drove , but what they can't understand , is that after a certain speed ( aproximatively 220-240 km/h ) you need so many concentration and energy to keep you safe ! With that kind of game , you must be careful and sure of what you can or can't do : even a single second of inattention can be terrible !
Really nice :-) I own a C5, too. A lovely white one... My maximum speed so far was 250 km/h on the A81. Got into a dangerous situation as a family car went w/o notice and obviously no need from the middle lane to the passing lane. I had to break and would hit the car, but the driver came somehow to consciousness and drove back to his empty middle lane...
@JMCarfreak91 there's always a difference between the speed the car gives you and the real GPS speed... Factory C5 is given at 276km/h I changed all exhaust system (headers, Xpipe, catback..), air intake system...GPS max speed is now 289km/h..but I never pushed it to the limit (hard to find a free highway in Germany for a few miles)
Great video!! What do you have for catback and headers? I have a blue '02 Z06, I live in Switzerland, but I've never been on german Hghways with the Z06. I hope to do that this summer!
That's the owner's comment, I'm pretty sure it's an LS1, not an LS6. A C5 Z06 can only go up to about 172 with the stock transmission anyways, it's geared for acceleration whereas the regular C5 isn't as quick but it can go faster. He went well over 180 in this video.
I pass everyone in sight, pretty much no one ever passes me on the highway, i drive 85-90 + in 65s all the time... and i still get over in the right lane immediately. Cant stand how people here (ESPECIALLY in the northeast) are so ignorant when it comes to keep right, pass left...
There is no delay. You may have the feeling that there is one, because it updates only once every half second. But this has a reason of course. If you would update the speedometer instantaneously you would see a lot of fast flickering when you are driving at a near constant speed.

@2bidfilmsguy c5's did have the HUD..maybe not the early models like the 97 but later ones did..

Did you like the crossfire corvette what did u race?
@@MrMitokiller I still like my crossfire Vette, at this time I have four Corvettes, will be selling three of them but will keep the 84
Thanks guys for your positive feedback
One key word on German highways: respect other (slower or faster) drivers
I absolutely love how these drivers use the fast lane for passing ONLY! Great video ... wish we could have had a look at the car too though... Corvette Uncle Sams finest!
Wonderful driving! So nice to see someone blend with the German driving style. Such a shame we'll NEVER see that in the USA.
norm hughes USA sucks in all things ;-)
+Techniker90 you must be special kind of an idiot man.

Corvette ist einfach nur das Geilste! :D
Und: Genau SO fährt man schnell und trotzdem sicher! Daumen hoch! :D
Damn, why can't we get a highway like this in the US?
Oh yeah, 16 year old's would text in the left lane.
+Vlad B you certainly are no American....
Good to know.
There's many highways like these in the united states.
***** 26 years of living in the US, and never been to this type of a highway....maybe I should rephrase for the special ones. Have perfect roads with no speed regulations.

god bless the german freeway`s
I like that everyone respects the faster driver and moves out of the way.
super video !!!
love the sound of that car!!!
Nice vid. I did this with my c5 last year too. Anoying how there always are cars in the right lane :-)
Corvette is the most amazing 300 km/h + car for the money, but second option is a Supra or Skyline with 2 huge turbo's you'd be amazed.
That's the sound this engine is build for !!!!
@JMCarfreak91 there's always a difference between the speed the car gives you and the real GPS speed...

Beautiful sound. Stock intake and exhaust? If not-what does the C5 have?
Awesome Video............Im having flashbacks of how my wife drives to Walmart
THat sound!!! Loving it.
Living the dream man. Living the dream.
nice driving and video btw
I also noticed how everyone moved to the right lane. US drivers have no idea. I have a c5 I bought 5 months ago. Very nice ride on the hwy
Looks soooooooo fun! Its not frequen fair that we dont have this kind of freeway in the US. So unfair.
Great video!!
What do you have for catback and headers?
I have a blue '02 Z06, I live in Switzerland, but I've never been on german Hghways with the Z06. I hope to do that this summer!
Hallo 57explorateur,
@2bidfilmsguy yeah C5s definitely had the option of HUD. and its also obvious its a c5 from the hood.
Did you change something about the car or is it still stock? I thought they could hit 280 max. Great & Beautiful car!!
Fuck YEAHH ... nice sound !!!^^
My 2001 had the HUD. It could be configured to display (or not) various information according to driver preference.
By technical definition, the USA has many "Autobahns." "Autobahn" means "a road for cars" in German, but really, the Interstates are "Autobahns."
Thanks for the ride :-)
I have driven the A5, you see Germans don't screw around on the road because it is a driving experience.
It wasn't standard except for higher timr levels but was optional in most from 2001 up.
they did not manage to get a big "2" in this HUD. awesome engineering!
@thefatdic in North America I have never seen one and when I bought my c5 I wasn't told it was an option
Not at high speeds. I observed the delay when it comes to the stop. The car stands still and the speedometer still decreases.
dream car :) i dreamed about ford gt, but i see now this is same price , lower for C5 for sale in used cars !
The HUD (Heads Up Display) and yes all 1999 corvettes and up have the ability to use a HUD
I pass everyone in sight, pretty much no one ever passes me on the highway, i drive 85-90 + in 65s all the time... and i still get over in the right lane immediately. Cant stand how people here (ESPECIALLY in the northeast) are so ignorant when it comes to keep right, pass left...
@IrishChris1979 same in france ....but in Germany, as there's no speed limit, usually they go right to let pass faster cars
There is no delay. You may have the feeling that there is one, because it updates only once every half second. But this has a reason of course. If you would update the speedometer instantaneously you would see a lot of fast flickering when you are driving at a near constant speed.
@tripleheshy 6 speed.... but 6th one is just for cruising
For max speed you have to keep 5th one until 6300RPM
NB: not the same gear box as the C5ZO6
@2bidfilmsguy they actually did..i saw in a magazine some years ago ;)
@MrDrMaRV neine komplette american racing Linie und Borla Stinger Auspuff
how much HP?
i have the same car.
2001 6speed. same color too :P
The speedometer has a huge delay - is this usual?
Man that sounds nice
i love how on the autobahn when faster cars approach the slow ways get out of the way,lol to bad the american expressways dont work like that
How often he pulls little Cars out of his Intake?
this is in homburg
Why did you use the Left Turn Indicator?
Like a fuckin' man
Where/how did you mount your camera?
@57explorateur is this in MPH or KM/H
You might need a larger intake and injectors to cope with that, together with a more agressive camshaft. Those engines love fuel alot.
Yeah, the order is done (vengeance racing USA)....larger cam, new CNC heads, new 36lbs injectors etc....
I bet this video was shot on a sunday ;)
@57explorateur Was verbraucht der so ?
The number was revolutions per minute?
What kind of speedometer is that
@57explorateur very sorry the HUD and the hood threw me off, just though it was some one that re-posted a video they didn't know anything about
If I lived in Germany, I would do this everyday!
I have a big cold air intake under the car ....
Ha, its ok officer I was only doing 58 kph... well 258kph haha
@cedwat2 just double face tape on the upper dashboard
No, the C5 only had the LS1. The C5 Z06 had the LS6. The C5 Z06 also has a different body style. Two different models with two different engines.
@bondig12345

KMH the 2 digits is over 200 Kmh
43 = 243 Km/h
7:08 How the fuck did a Chevy Venture get over there? LOL! 57explorateur, is it a base Corvette or a Z06?
in america nobody moves out of the way in the fast lane
I miss my 50th anniversary 6 speed vert!
@57explorateur warum leider?
Yah I thought it was km/h. I was trying to process "C5 Corvette = 250 mph?"
How fast did you get it?
why are you shifting gears like a grandma? ;-D However...very lovely sound!
what's with the projected thing?
I live in a third world country where the max speed is 55 MPH, LOL! the government still think we live in the '70's. :)
do all c5's have them?
when you break, its like pumping? or gradually?
LOL. At 9:17 you pass a Buick Park Avenue. ON THE AUTOBAHN.
