Awesome videos man. I’m also a proud owner of a 2001 c5z mines black. Changed the airbox from an 03 supposedly better airflow, and the h pipe which eliminates the pup cats. Curious if I gained any power from the combo. I also have the continentals but spin alot coming out of the hole. I noticed you hook really well, What’s your trick to the holeshot? Thanks have a good one
Great video. I would love to race a C5 Z from a 10mph roll just to see how a C4 Z compares, because they seem awfully close even though our gearing is much different. Edit: just watched your dragy videos. Seems you are definitely a little quicker.
@@county_bear9509 I think the c5Z would easily walk a c4 ZR1 all the way. C4 ZR1 weighs 3400 lbs and has 375 hp, while the C5z is under 3200 lbs with 10-20 more hp. And prolly better aerodynamics
@@junktoyota that’s what I thought too, but there’s a video between both 2 supposedly stock c4 zr1 and C5 Z06 from a roll. They were initially even but later on the C4 began to pull away. It was also a later ZR1 with 405 horsepower. It’s also possible the LT5 in that car was underrated but I’m unable to say for certain.
Road noise yes some difference. Reliability no. The Z06 is the race car. If you are looking for a GT car get a regular C5. The Z06 is more of a bare bones stripped down version for the racing enthusiast.
So cool enough the the base c5 got the same block heads and intake as the z06 from 02-04 so the only difference is cam and exhaust on power and if you look at the dyno on those years z06 vs base model they don’t run the ls1 as many rpm’s and it was still climbing at the rpm they stop at so it’s basically the same
Cool car but id advise against popping it out of gear at those speeds. Just throw it into 6th and engine brake back down, especially at those speeds it helps keep the car stable and reduce the load on your brakes.
I don't want a C6. I remember reading about the C5 Z06 in the hot rod magazines when it first came out and racing super speedway 50 times in a row with the Trueno so I could buy a yellow C5 Z06 on Gran Turismo 3. I wanted one since I was 13. I have no such feelings of nostalgia or admiration whatsoever for the C6. They are uglier and no pop-up headlights. The C6 Z06 is the only one I'd get but next up for me is a Gen 2 Viper GTS for the same reasons as the C5Z.
@@Carguylogan I feel the same way man. Except I’m 16 and simply looking for the base c5 t56 m6 coupe. Love the c5, I think it’s stunning. The c6 never was my cup of tea. Actually, I plan on a 441 stroker for a ls7 in a c5 once I get to that point, to keep this brief the torque at the crank it 630 ft lbs at 4800 rpm and and horsepower is 708 at 6500 rpm. I love all Corvettes but the C5 seriously is the best looking one.
Might be the cleanest top speed run I’ve seen in a C5

Best C5 acceleration video on TH-cam

Off the start the C5Z will pull ahead. Just has a significantly shorter first and second gear. After that it’s more difficult to tell.

Man I wish they woulda made 6th gear usable in these, coulda done 180 I bet
The stock LS1 internals can easily handle 550WHP, that can get you to 200 in 6th
You did this without wearing a seatbelt?!?
@rarelyaccurate6252 I've done it like a hundred times in 4 or 5 different cars and haven't worn in seat belt since I got my license.

I didn't care for that either but they did it for road racing. The base C5's T56 has more drag-oriented ratios which i prefer.
