One of the BEST tutorials I have found on TH-cam for any of a number of different "How To" topics. I used to be "in the room" and connected to a projector but I've had to adapt to ZOOM-landia like so many of us. -- The pace of this tutorial is perfect. The visuals are clean. The narrative is clearly enunciated. It's very easy to follow and EXACTLY the level of information for which I've been looking. I watch so many instructional videos on TH-cam and between the seemingly neurotic "clicking around" and the difficult to understand audio I have to watch some of them 2 or 3 times just to get a portion of the information. This is both a tutorial on how to ZOOM PowerPoint presentations AND how to TH-cam an instructional video.
i am always nervous in presenting, thus making me forget what i should say, that is why i also need to open a word document where my notes are and refer to it while presenting my powerpoint. but i am afraid that the audience can also see that word document. but today i learned that it is possible to open multiple windows (like PPT slideshow and a word document) and share just the PPT slideshow window, so that i can still read my word document without any worry that my audience can also see it. option 4 is a big help. thank You so much.
Very useful video. Thank you for sharing this. Earlier I had done Google Slide presentation on Google Meet, where i could simultaneously share the full screen ppt to the audience all the while seeing the audience on a seperate window. But today when i got into zoom and ppt i was surprised by the new format where the PPT show went into full screen with all the participants hidden. I was a bit fumbling thinking that something has gone wrong. Yes, now having watched your video, i understood the four options and now I can handle things better. The best thing I liked about your video is that you made a summary table at the end. Thats a beauty!!! I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to more learning from you. All the best for your efforts and wish you great success.
Thank you! This is very helpful! I am doing a LIVE recorded webinar today and I am trying to use my PowerPoint in a way that I can see my notes. I now know how I can do that. I wish there was a way to use presenter view without them seeing the notes. Thank you!!!
Glad the video was helpful. You can find my entire guide to using Presenter View in Zoom at www.thinkoutsidetheslide.com/the-complete-guide-to-using-powerpoint-presenter-view-in-zoom-1-or-2-screens-windows-or-mac/. I hope it is helpful.
Thank you, excellent! What I really want is for the audience to see the presentation window like you showed in the beginning, and with the presenter's video box in the corner. Do you know how to do that?
Zoom automatically shows the attendees your video small in the corner when you are sharing your slides so there is nothing you need to do to enable that.
Thank you for this. Lots to take in. Do you need to screens for your 4 option examples? I've one computer and could attach a monitor? Would that work. I saw your single screen video for a different option. Keep safe, thank you
You don't need two screens but it does make it easier. I have a guide on using Presenter View in PowerPoint with 1, 2, or 3 screens here: www.thinkoutsidetheslide.com/the-complete-guide-to-using-powerpoint-presenter-view-in-zoom-1-or-2-screens-windows-or-mac/. The article related to this video also has some more options: www.thinkoutsidetheslide.com/4-options-for-how-to-present-a-powerpoint-slide-show-in-a-zoom-meeting/. Hope that helps.
If a presenter wanted to have him/herself visible to the audience as well as the slideshow (as would be the case in an in person presentation) presumably option 1 would be used or is there a better way?
You video is usually small beside or above your slides in Zoom by default. If you want to try another option, this video shows you how you can have your video larger beside your slides: th-cam.com/video/rKDKniBmwe0/w-d-xo.html
This is awesome! My job doesn't offer PowerPoint. Instead, I use Google Slides to present via Zoom. Does the option of presenting within a PPT window exist when presenting using Google Slides?
Google Slides displays the presentation in a browser window so you can share the browser in the Zoom meeting to show the audience your slides. This video shows you how to use the Presenter View option in Google Slides if you want to see your speaking notes: th-cam.com/video/wHpqxEoxcm8/w-d-xo.html
Option 2: So I have the pptx file in screen view, Alt+Tab to Zoom window - share screen - but there is no option for the full slide show screen view of the pptx, just the "Normal" view. I proceed through the slideshow, then "stop share" because I want to talk for awhile, in Gallery mode, and then return to the slide show. When I resume (share screen), NOW it gives me the option of sharing the slide show screen view. What's wrong? (I finally decided against the Presenter View option, because I want to be able to stop and start the slide show throughout the course of my presentation, so my whole 2-hour class is not a slide show with a disembodied person talking and me unable to see the audience.)
I just tested this again and it works for me. Sometimes if you have a lot of apps open the Slide Show window is at the bottom of the list in the Zoom Sharing dialog and you sometimes have to scroll down to find it. As an option perhaps you could start the Slide Show, exit it and start it again before you start lecturing to see if that allows the Slide Show window to be shared. Hope you figure out a way to make it work for you. The article with more options is at www.thinkoutsidetheslide.com/4-options-for-how-to-present-a-powerpoint-slide-show-in-a-zoom-meeting/
I need some help. I was asked to share a ppt presentation in an important meeting. I kept it minimised on the task bar and I selected the screen share option of sharing the entire desktop. However, when I opened (maximised) the powerpoint, the audience couldn't view my ppt though I always use this method successfully in all my classes. What could be the reason?
It's hard to diagnose an issue through this medium. In general I suggest if it is an important presentation, try to have a second device logged in as a participant and test the sharing in advance to make sure it works.
Is it possible to play a Power Point presentation in presentation mode on ZOOM? You see picture of presentation + the following picture + all my notes for the picture. The participant only see the actual presentation picture.
This video shows you how to use Presenter View in Zoom with one screen so the audience only sees your slides: th-cam.com/video/jVTxnDdmNJ4/w-d-xo.html. I also have a complete guide to using Presenter View in Zoom with 1, 2, or 3 screens at www.thinkoutsidetheslide.com/the-complete-guide-to-using-powerpoint-presenter-view-in-zoom-1-or-2-screens-windows-or-mac/
Depending on what applications you have open and what order Windows puts them in, you may have to press Alt+Tab more than once to get back to the Zoom controls.
I tried using the normal editing mode, got everything nicely reduced, could play videos, but could not advance the screen when a video ended. Can you help???
If you click on the video or the play button for a video on a slide, you have to click outside the video in order to resume moving through the slides. An alternative is to press the PageDown key which will advance the slide even if the video is the selected object.
Nicely done. I'll go through it again to ensure that I know what I'm doing, but this was very helpful. The holy grail for me would be to be able to share my PowerPoint and have my face be big -- maybe side-by-side? I see in the Zoom help center that there is such a mode, but it sounds like the viewer has to select something on their end, and I'd like to avoid that if I can, as some of my audience may not be able to do that reliably. Is this possible?
Great explanation of my options, thank you! I need to show just the presenter to the audience and hide their PowerPoint. Can that be done? The presenter and anyone else listed as a presenter, needs to be able to see the PowerPoint or PDF slides but we don't want the participants in the participant view to see the slides. I can't find any solution and any help is greatly appreciated!
It sounds like you want certain people to have access to the slides but do it outside of sharing the videos in the meeting. The simplest solution I can think of is to put the slide file (PowerPoint or PDF) in a web accessible location that people can access to view the file. This could be a website or a file storage service such as OneDrive, Dropbox, or Box. Only give that location link to the presenters and they are the only ones who can view the file. The rest of the participants on the call just see the video feed of the presenters. Hope that helps.
@@ThinkOutsideTheSlide thank you for your very quick reply! I should have been clearer in what I am using it for. I am using a separate software that brings in the Zoom portion as a video on half the screen and then the PowerPoint on the other, similar to what Zoom can do, but the system is a LMS and usually uses live speakers at an on-site event. By using Zoom, the live speakers stay at home but we don't need their PowerPoint part of the Zoom. I need to remotely "advance" their slides and if I can't see what slide they are on or referring too it will be mayhem!
Thanks for clarifying! That is different from what I understood. Any participant, which is what you would be, can swap the shared screen (the slides in this case) and the person's video in Zoom. There is a button in the top right area of the Zoom window that appears when you move the mouse in the area at the top that has the video panels (this only appears when you are not in side-by-side mode). It looks like a small rectangle inside a larger rectangle. This allows you to see the speaker's video as the large part and the slides as the small part. This is not exactly what you are looking for but it gets you closer and allows you to see what slide the presenter is sharing and speaking about. The other option would be to not have the speaker share their slides in Zoom but use them on their screen as if they were speaking in front of the group. Then use FaceTime, Google Duo, or some other video sharing app on your phones so you can see their screen as they speak. When they advance a slide, you will see it happen on their screen and you can advance the slide in the LMS. This may be a tougher setup to pull off but it is an option.
@@gregzilberfarb2574: I'm curious: What software do you use to do this? Not sure it will work for my purposes, as it sounds like you are at a different location than the speaker and you simply use their video in half of the screen, then project PowerPoint into the other half. But I am interested nonetheless.
Most of the meeting platforms, including Zoom, allow the organizer or host of the meeting to control who can share content in the meeting. If the host allows you to share content, you will be able to share your slides with the group.
I am not sure what you mean by "moderator mode" in PowerPoint. If you are referring to Presenter View, I did a video at th-cam.com/video/jVTxnDdmNJ4/w-d-xo.html that shows how to use this view in Zoom so you see your notes and the audience only sees the slides. Hope that helps.
