    This doesn’t work so well in a meeting, as most people use the gallery view, so even if you’re sharing your slides in the manner you recommend, there’s a good chance that people will struggle to read it. Sharing a screen still allows you to pop out a view of the participant cameras so that YOU can see them, but taking your approach to the next step, you can share your screen at maximum quality, but add yourself onto the screen share. It does require you to have a spare screen, but gives a better chance that people can see everything, whilst having the engagement that comes from the camera being present. We should still be switching the share off when necessary though…! 😉

    I do a lot of remote delivery for teaching programming and need to show my code editor - I've found that Zoom optimises more during screen share - when I try to use OBS to do to the same, often the text is a bit pixelated.

    • @FelippeNardi
      @FelippeNardi  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I totally hear you! A couple of things come into play:
      1- Zoom by default is limited to 360p, so you have to request the support to increase your group video quality to HD (720p)
      2- Your CPU must be below 85% at all times, otherwise Zoom will reduce the quality and make it pixelated
      3- Screenshare will always have higher quality because, exactly as you put it, it optimized for quality rather than FPS
      I particularly use lots of screenshare to teach OBS and apps with small letters and what I’ll do is zoom in the text a lot to highlight the parts that I want to share. This makes it easier for the audience to follow what I’m teaching while I’m able to design the entire experience.
      But mostly, I’d say it is ok to use screenshare and you really want to share an app, but just not necessary for slideshows. For slide shows, it is much more engaging doing it on OBS

    I love the idea of using OBS with Zoom, and it's something I've tried before... But I'm not sure if it's better to do "Share screen" to share the obs Preview window, or to use OBS as a Virtual Camera. Which one do you use?

    • @FelippeNardi
      @FelippeNardi  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Definitely use the virtual camera because screenshare doesn’t prioritize FPS and it will look and feel laggy.
      Also in my masterclass that is happening right now I teach how to unlock HD quality on your Zoom camera: insidethe.show

  • @MarcJacqueminL
    @MarcJacqueminL 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    I find that unfortunately this method makes the video quality participants get unusable. Some fonts (even big ones) are not readable, and everything looks super low res. People look ok, but any other element just looks terrible. I understand the camera feed prioritise high frame rate over resolution, but sadly there's not way to control that. We've tried all settings, and options both on Zoom and OBS, and been on forums and it seems to be a problem no one has been able to sort out. it's a shame as I love the flexibility. Have you found a way to fix that issue?

    • @FelippeNardi
      @FelippeNardi  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I don't have this issue, here is what I do:
      1- Unlock 720p quality by requesting Zoom support to activate Group HD in the backend of your account (you can't do this by yourself)
      2- Make sure your CPU is below 70%
      3- Make sure your internet is good and reliable (usually the easiest step)
      You can verify the quality you are actually sending to the final users by, during a call, going to video settings, statistics, video and checking the resolution you are sending. It should be 1280x720px.
      Some can even bump this resolution to 1920x1080p in case you have a Zoom business account.

      @@FelippeNardi Thanks for the reply. Step1 is the only one I haven't tried... 2 and 3 are all good.
      I thought it was now possible to activate group HD by going to settings on the web and under advanced meeting settings there's a toggle for Group HD, so I assumed that as high as it goes. Anyway, I'll reach out to Zoom support and see if they can help. Thanks

    I used this kind of setup for quite some time but I gave up on it. The Problem I faced was, that image quality, resolution and fps, is too poor with this approach for too many users and there is a delay between audio (hearing my speak) and video (see my lips move). And because it all depends to servers and the internet connection on user side it is very hard to test. I looked all great to me when testing with a second laptop at home, likes it look good on the recordings shown here, but in real life it was not usable for me. @Felippe, didnt you recognize these problems? Is there a trick to solve these problems?

    • @FelippeNardi
      @FelippeNardi  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The lipsync issue might just be a configuration issue, I can assure it is possible.
      The quality needs to be taken care of carefully: your internet must be good and your cpu must always be below 80%. If you can meet these conditions, the quality will be 720p.
      When you compare with a screenshare, the quality is lower because screen share can go up to 4k. But screenshare is not optimized for video, so it can be used to share your camera because the FPS will be low.

    • @ArneBroedel
      @ArneBroedel 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FelippeNardi Thanks for the fast reply. I dont see a problem with my internet connection or my cpu, because, as I said, it all worked fine when testing, and it also worked fine for many participants. But for many others it didnt. So the problem is on the participant side, especially bandwidth. When Zoom or Teams is confronted with low bandwidth, Screenshare is optimized for resolution, with the downside of too low fps for video. Camera is optimized for fps with the downside of too poor resolution for a presentation. That is why it technically makes total sense to keep the presentation and camera as two streams. The presentation optimized for resolution and the camera for fps. Microsoft Teams does exactly this with its different presentation views or the Cameo feature of PowerPoint.
      However, the control over it is a bit limited in comparison to use OBS like you do and I did, before recognizing the problems with the approach.
