You guys should do every video together you guys went together like peanut butter and jelly and explained everything very clearly and helped me make the decision of buying the CSL seat tomorrow
Got the same seat, and not sure if my bags were labeled wrong but was instructed to install the small seat attaching cylinders in the front and long ones in the rear which made for a really upright seating position. Finally got around to switchin um around and was like night and day! = much more comfortable.
NEW ! -I've had this great super solid cockpit since january -Love it ! A BIG BIG upgrade from my super duper wobbly GameRacer Pro cockpit ! The stability really makes a difference ! Great to see your review ! Great show! ! NOTE @ 12:40: There is 4 bolts with two lengths that holds the seat , if you place the longer at the front the seat will lean back more and makes all the difference between a good and horrible experience !
I was one of the first to own this when it was the Rinoseat GTR, and photos of my rig where on the original website. I'm 6" tall and 115kg, and I still find this to be a fantastc rig. For its price and how sturdy, but lightweight it is, it is perfect. I doesn't wobble like they show unless you make it. The hardest thing is though is getting in and out of it as it is a little tight. Would recommend this to everyone, but only if you're going to be only user
I have an Obutto Ozone and a GTOmega Pro rig, but after building a great feeling rig with triple screen mount out of wood, I'll never buy a commercial rig again (except a ForceDynamics CR401 :D)
I did the same mistake and placed the shorter bolts at the front which gave me terrible neck and back pain. After I put the long bolts at the front and the short ones at the back everything felt just fine.
Only if multiple people are using it. I don't slide the seat to get out of my Human Racing Chassis. I didn't slide the seat getting out of my RSeat either. Same thing here. Darin
I've been looking for a light weight, portable rig to replace my wheel stand (Which is stupidly heavy and has a really annoying centre post.) I was first looking at the Playseat Challenge but I think I will be going for this instead.
I've owned my CSL Seat for months now. The seat is definitely underwhelming. I think it would fit a smaller person better. It forces me to position my head slightly forward at 6'3" and it seems Darin had the same issue in the video. I also bought a cheap lumbar pad which helps but still isn't great. For seat angle, I propped up the front of the rig with two 11-inch 4x4s (and a fat cookbook to prop up the front end of the pedal base). Sometimes I think about raising it more, but this works fine. Also it seems more sturdy somehow, but stability was never an issue. Maybe it seems more solid because the rear of the rig is carrying more weight? I've had it this way for months without any issues or wobbles. Except once when I leaned way out to try to grab something in the middle of the floor and tipped up the right edge for a split second and scared myself. I was worried about the cheap bolts stripping out during assembly and a couple of them more or less did as I finished tightening them up (very carefully). Luckily I haven't had to adjust those... or, more likely, take a trip to Home Deeps for replacements. I have made sure to retighten bolts attaching the wheel and the seat arms (which are easy to grab and lean on when getting in and out of the seat) If/when I replace it, I'll definitely be aiming for something with a better comfortable seat. But this has been good enough for an affordable first rig and I really do suspect I'd like it more if I were shorter.
As soon as I started considering the CSL Seat, this video comes out! Thanks guys! Do you think you could stuff some foam in the seat for some lumbar support? Also, I'd be moving my future rig everytime I wanted to use it. Do you think I'd be able to secure the pedals so they don't flop around when moving it? Thanks.
I thought you might be interested to know that a fellow sim racer i know has mounted his Ultraforce GS4 on the chassis with no major issues and the frame has worked out pretty fine
I am new to this. but I just bought a G27 and attached it to a $30 desk from Target with a 3 monitor set up with a swivel lawn chair and its's PERFECT!! So.. whatever.....
can you imagine some son or daughter getting this sim rig Christmas morning then I can imagine the parent trying to assemble it, then kids assembling it while the parents are still reading the instructions
Hi, I've bought the CSL seat and have a Thrustmaster f430 force feedback wheel. My wheel comes with a clamp which allows it to be bolted onto any table top but I can't seem to screw it onto the CSL seat. It doesn't stay on the CSL too well and ruins the experience. Do you have any advice for me? Hope its not "buy the t300"
Good review chair is cheap but for the price is pretty good for 500 you might consider the ionrax rig very sturdy little heavy but it's on wheels I love the rig for bigger people you wouldn't purchase the chair it's small buy from wreckers and attach.
Hello guys, im wondering If you guys still have the fanatec csl seat laying around? Ive just bought the fanatec shifter and have the csl seat but everything was bought second hand and the csl seat didnt come with The shifter mounting part. Ive searched the hole internet, Amazon ebay fb market place and even got in contact with fanatec but no luck. If you do still have it around maybe i could buy it from you? Thank you anyways.
Lots of good info here but I think you guys really need to start comparing products to their competition in more detail. For a US gamer, can you really recommend this CSL for $299 as their first racing rig when there is the Obutto Ozone available for an extra $50? (I'm assuming you also have to pay shipping on that). In Canada a CSL is $489.18 and the Ozone is $597.76. Even for the extra $110, I wonder if I'm better buying an Ozone rather than the CSL. Any thoughts?
Also, how do you find the space when getting in and out of the CSL? Is it hard to maneuver in and out of (I know you said it wasn't stable getting in) since you can't actually slide the seat back. You didn't list lack of sliders of a con. So once it's setup/adjusted for the individual, did you find the lack of seat sliders a problem at all?
I have a basic fanatec center post wheel/pedal mount. I'm currently using it with a rolling office chair pushed up against the wall and it's not very comfortable. I'm looking for a low cost (300 bucks or under ideally) alternative to mount my CSR wheel/pedal set to. I was looking at this and the playseat challenge as another choice. I like the option to fold and store the playseat but don't know how labor intensive that would be if I have to disconnect the wheel and pedals from it before folding it up so that may not be TOO big of a deal. Is there another option I don't know about that maybe could somehow attach to my existing center post fanatec wheel mount? Like just a racing seat assembly that I could somehow mount or attach to the wheel mount? I'm fairly confident in my DIY skills but I doubt it would turn out very aesthetically pleasing.
I personally would go with this, although it may not be the most comfortable rig available it is extremely durable and sure to last for years and if you want to store it, it is so light that you can just push it out of the way
Hey, I have a question: I'm playing football and I'm on the offense-line so you can imagine that I'm pretty big. Now I want a realistic and stable racing seat for ~450 bucks. But all seats I found are build out aluminium or plastic and I don't believe that I can play on it with my ~260lbs. What can you advise me?
Guys can you check this guy out ... he is making a driving simulator and the video shows really something special... Can u interview this guy about how he can evolve this simulator or another features that can be added in future later. I know guys will check BeamNG drive want to know your perspective on this..

Mr Rinorino finally sell this thing to fanatec..dunno whats the story behind it..btw he invented very customize rig for sim racer.i already buy rinoseat 1st gen from him
Depends on what you want. The CSL has less wobble and much less flex but the Omega has a better and upgradeable seat (Though I personally like the CSL Seat if you put a pillow for your Lordose in place I can see how it could end up being to uptight for some people I actually prefer it that way) + easier (not better) adjustability while being a lot harder to store and move around than the CSL. So it really depends on what you want from your rig. If you have even the slightest doubt about the seat on the CSL after watching this video don't take the chance. All in all I really like the CSL but I feel like the GT Omega Evo is the more secure choice for people who haven't tested them before.

The word you were looking for at 4:27 was "retracting".
100%
Put a slim ish pillow on the back under the cover for more back support
If we compared to every rig, the show would have been 60 minutes. You can compare yourself by watching our other vids ;-)

A favor was showing the public that the heaviest wheel on the market worked great on this budget rig.
Fantastic review guys! This actually affected my purchase decision. Cheers!
It should be fairly easy to get rid of the rocking chair malarkey. Just bold something to is that evens out the radii on the base tube frame.
The PVC rig which you guys DIY looks nice and solid then this.
Loved these days
I was referring to seat sliders, to help in getting in and out, rather than a bolt (screw) that must be taken out and replaced for adjustments.
i really hope you guys get a chance to review the fanatec rennsport cockpit V2 rig

The shifter mount wiggle is crazy, but you didn't mention it.
foam can be put in there and you can hard-mount the pedals
