I was really happy with my original CSL Elite Load Cell pedals; when I experienced the inconsistency in the load cell based on where you press I felt so unhappy with the purchase, but I decided to just live with it, and I managed to get used to it and used them for years.

In auto calibrate mode you can set a dead zone. Just hold the pedal where you want the dead zone to end then power up the pedals. I hold about a 1/4 on the brakes then power up the wheel base (pedals plugged to base) to give a small initial dead zone on the brakes. Since I tend to rest my foot on the brake I need that small cushion area.

One, maybe one of the most important things in these, compared to CSW's, is that you can move/adjust these sideways. So if ie your knee hurts when loadcell brake force you to press it in bad angle, with these(as in v1 which I've had years and still have) you can move brake pedal more to the left, away from throttle. Some ppl complained that you cannot adjust pedal footplate angle, thats not problem if your rig allow you to put pedal set mounting plate more upwards, as I've done in my Simetik V2.

Thanks so much for this review! I have the v1 pedals and the potentiometer has been so frustrating, the plastic teeth being worn away and resulting in poor inputs/random spiking was so disappointing. Buying a replacement is almost £40 - just for the potentiometer. I ended up boxing away my rig as I didn't want to downgrade to a different pedal set of lesser quality - like plastic pedals, but I also couldn't justify an expensive upgrade due to my investment in three sperate wheel rims and the compatibility with the elite wheelbase. But the V2 pedals using magnets like high-quality flight sticks is a game changer for me. That one change alone is worth this product. It's just such a shame this wasn't implemented in the original design.

I switched to hall sensors on my V1 elites for £20something each from someone on Etsy I think it was. Plus different elastomers and small spacers to improve sideward play in the pedal arms.
I agree the V2s seem a good step up but if you want to get your rig set back up without spending ££s on all new pedals, I can more than recommend these small upgrades in the meantime.

  • @bwxmoto

Thanks for the review. Just used your affiliate link and bought a set. I bought a GT DD Pro 8nm a few months ago and was using them with my old CSR Elite load cell brake pedal set that I used to use with my old CSR Xbox wheel (toy-like belt driven). Then last week I ungraded to the load cell on the CSL pedals that came with GT DD Pro and installed those into my rig.
I think I like the old CSR Elite load cell brake better but it was getting old and wasn't very smooth no matter what I did. New load cell but it was the mechanical stuff making it less than smooth. Now with the CSL load cell it is much smoother but trying to apply say.. 10% brake and hold it there is very difficult. You need to press the brake pedal pretty hard for it to register, then it seems to wants to go up to at least 50%. Hard to explain but pedal seems too stiff, like you're pressing on a rock, not a brake pedal. CSR Elite had more progression, it felt more like a brake pedal to me. I had to reinforce my cockpit for the CSL load cell though, it took a lot more pressure to get full braking after being adjusted to suit my taste.
I hope these feel a lot better than the CSL load cell. Maybe I could get used to the CSL brake but I don't think I could ever be very consistent with them, at least trying to trail brake or hold a lower pressure for any amount of time. I'm sure I could mod the CSL load cell brake elastomers and get it feeling better, but might as well just get something that works better out of the box.
So now my rig with have Elite V2 pedals, GT DD Pro 8nm, and a ClubSport Handbrake V1.5! Should be pretty sweet. I'd get the shifter but I never ended up using a manual shifter much even though it's fun to mess around with on appropriate cars. I kind of wish I just bought these instead of the load cell for the CSL pedals.

I would like to know Will's opinion about whether the V2's are suitable for heel-and-toe driving. The non-adjustable pedal pads make me think not, but given pedals' strong points I'd love to find out I'm wrong about that.

I modded the Thrustmaster t-lcm pedals so they are functionally the same. I put 3 elastometers which look identical to this ones, but i think they are softer, made from a stiff rubber which flexes if pressed with enough force. Then on top i put the RED SPRING which is included with the pedals. The spring is almost twice longer than that of those fanatec pedals. The loadcell is up to 100kg. When i fully compress the spring i feel the threshold, it somewhat well defined, it reaches about 80% of full force that the sensor is capable of. I set that to be 95% braking in the tm software, that works i guess as a cheaper alternative to fanatec pedals. You also can tune it however you want with elastometers of different sizes, types and various spring. I thing it feels the same as the pedals in the video. After all, the skill is the most important part

I heard really mixed reviews of this. Some f1 esports drivers received those pedals and they had drifting/grinding issues with the throttle and brake pedal and two of them had to actually retire or couldn't attend f1 league races because of it. Joni Tormala had to retire mid-race in an f1 esports race and Jarno Opmeer couldn't attend the latest WOR because of those brake issues. Happend in the same week IIRC. I'd rather stay away from fanatec when it comes to pedals (except their v3s) but that's just me I guess ---- EDIT: to give further information, the starting point keeps changing of both brake and throttle (doesn't go 0/0) and the break literally starts dragging after some laps. "Forcevsoutput" (not sure exactly what he meant) of the brake pedals feels inconsistent aswell.

@@boostedmedia Hey Will I actually got a comment from someone at Fanatec! It's from "DomB"
This is what he said: "Thank you for the comment. I've been discussing this with our esports technical team, who have been in contact with a few of the pro drivers who provided feedback or ran into issues, and these were all addressed. For example, Joni reported a brake issue and this was because he was using an old driver. It was solved after updating. We also received reports of the throttle not going back to 0% or not reaching 100%, and this was due to pushing the limits of the manual calibration (setting the min and max too close to the mechanical end points). Since then we have received no further reports and the pro drivers appear to be very satisfied with the new pedals."

At 16:15 you put that last piece on there... I don't have that piece and it doesn't mention that piece in the quick start guide or manual. I feel that this piece is missing because I am already somehow messing up my brake pedal. The metal shaft thing is rubbing on the metal hole it goes into. How the heck do I get another one of these? I don't see it listed on Fanatec's site... and I wonder why I doesn't show up in the manual as part of the kit.

Currently own a modded pair of CSL LC pedals, but the brake is too hard in my opinion (already modded) and they are noisy too.
Is an upgrade to the CSL Elite v2 worth it in terms of the brake "feel"? And is the noise nearly zero, so no noise from the pedals?

    Hi:)
Thank you some great and very informative videos!
Im thinking of changing pedals and wheel, maybe even base…
    What I have:
    Base: CSL Elite (2021)
    Wheel: F1 Esport (2021)
Pedals: CRS Elite w. loadcell (2010)
    What would you recomend:
    Pedals, CSL Elite or higher?
Wheel, I would like an all around Clubsport wheel, for GT and Road cars?
Base, Im not sure if Its too much to go CSL DD, or just stay on the CSL Elite?
I play PS5 (GT7, F1 2022 and Assetto Corsa), sometimes also PC (Assetto Corsa +Comp., Raceroom, Project Cars 2…)

just wanted to ask if it's intentional that the clutch is significantly firmer than the throttle? I'm not sure what pedals are supposed to feel like as these are my first set.

I used to run the old CSL Elite LC pedals.
While some issues of the old design were solved (Hall sensors instead of potentiometers, loadcell on the rod and not under the pedal plate), the most annoying thing I had about the pedals is still there.
That is the lack of adjusting on how the pedal faces line up. Even with a stiff brake pedal I regularly hit the side of the throttle plate while doing heel and toe on downshifting.
Also, I always hated the lack of throw adjustments on the throttle. For me it was always too long.
My solution was to zip-tie the throttle down so it couldn't come back to it's default resting position to have a shorter throw and a good throttle position for heel and toe.

Just picked these up. Attempting to change the pedal position and the bolts out of the factory have been put on so incredibly tight it's almost impossible. Took well over an hour to remove 5/6 bolts attaching the heel plate and the last one I suspect has stripped as it's now loose on both sides but I can't for the life of me get the bolt loose from the nut. Seems like loads of people have problems with this reading reddit/forums. I'm not even sure what to do with mine as it won't even tighten back up now either.
