We just wanted to add that our wheel stand also has upgradability to a full cockpit if people purchase the rear seat frame. We noticed this information was possibly missed, so just wanted to add it here for you. Keep doing a great job with your content!

You are correct, we had a similar design a long time ago which was our Pro Cockpit.
We felt it wasn't suited to the modern racer and it was effectively replaced by the TITAN Cockpit while our ART cockpit grew from strength to strength in the same time.

I have a aluminium profile wheel stand from Sim Labs. Love it. Nice and compact. Cost me like £250 with the seat supporter. I don't need a full rig. And a metal chair that is strong so I can stomp on that 200 kgs load cell and the chair can take it no problems and no fatigue either.

I got the GT omega wheel stand and does the job nicely for me having limited space. I got pretty thick carpet so no problems with the seat moving and with it being so small I can easy move it in front of my desk when I want to use it then simply fold it up and put to one side when I'm not.

I am currently using a GT Omega Classic (actually have 2, as I bought a sealed one at an Amazon discount store for $20 CND). I have the older model from about 1-1/2 years ago that did not come with the office chair stopped, so I bought flat replacements for the wheels.
As a side note, not sure about the new GT Omega Classic that has the wheel stopper, but the older one does have a separate (sold separately) seat frame extension. There are also other brand of seat frame extension that fit sold on Amazon.
The main reason I got the Classic was for lack of space. The room my setup is in doubles as my girlfriend and my collectors display room and office area. So the idea of a fold up wheel stand was awesome, until I added extra shelves to it (in all I have the 2 it came with, bought a spare shelf, and added the 2 from the discount set). How (because there isn't enough room them mount them all) and why? How took a lot of planning to get them mounted together. And why, so that I could have my shifter one one, my handbrake beside and at a similar height, a mouse pad shelf and a keyboard shelf.

I think the playseat trophy is the most aesthetically pleasing to me, has little to no flex and still retains portability, with the optional shifter if desired. I think it's the jack of all trades here, esp paired with the logitech pro wheel/pedals.
I know everyone says to get an alu rig, but they just look too industrial to me and are a PITA to move around.

  • @Silidor372

I believe that the Playseat Evolution is a great budget choice.. It costs around 300€ new and you can get it used for as low as 90€. I got mine used and only required a seat cover as its white leather seat was quite used up (the vinyl coating started falling off).
It's not perfect but it's great for getting into sim racing. It can even support a DD Wheel and minor mods make it even greater.
The Pedal stand is rather flimsy and needs an additional part (wood or whatever) to make it stable.

I have the playseat challenge for my previous logi G29, basically made for each other, absolutely great. I upgraded to a Fanatec CSL DD 8Nm and Loadcell brake, the 8Nm is absolutely the limit for the PS challenge. And I don’t use 100% brake force anyway, anymore than 50% does the seat not tolerate. But I’m happy with the rigidity, I purchased a reinforcement kit for the PS challenge which is much needed and makes it perfect for me. I’ll be happy with this setup for many years.

I ended up with a TR8 Pro just because of the ease of assembly and aesthetics. An 80/20 rig like the TR120 would be more customizable but I didn't want the hassle of taking hours to put everything together and the trouble I'd have in case I need to move it for any reason.

Best rig out of all those? I really like the Trak Racer TRX with it's tubular structure. Years ago, I used to have Trak Racer's older tubular models (with monitor mount), but there were some welding weak points. Hence I replaced it with Simetik K2-R, which offers good adjustability in a fairly small footprint. I also like its aesthetics. 7:55

Hi, I would like to ask for your advice: I'm looking for the best sim racing rig that can be comfortable for both me and my son, who is about 1.3 meters tall. Currently, we use a simple "Wheel Stand Pro" and change the chair we sit on each time, but I need a rig that is separate from the TV and dedicated solely to simulation. It should be easy to adjust for different heights.
In addition to the rig, I will obviously need to find a monitor stand, and I'm considering both rigs that already have the stand included or getting a separate stand to better set the distance from the monitor depending on whether it's me or my son using it. My budget is around €500-700, but if you have recommendations for rigs that are particularly advantageous for my situation and cost more, feel free to suggest them. I'm considering both fixed and foldable rigs, but space is not a major issue.
Thank you again for your work and for any suggestions you can provide.

That's perfect I'd say as you can upgrade and bolt on the seat later up

If you could help me I would appreciate it. I have a different use case. I have the budget and the space. I want a rig that an adult can use, and then adjust for a young child. So the seat and the steering wheel need to be able to adjust quickly depending on the use case. Suggestions? I will be using PC only.

Don't sleep on advanced sim racing. They have good customer service and free shipping in North America. I prefer independent monitor stand and the advanced vesa mounts are totally worth it.

Many online sim shops sell their own brand of aluminum profile rig at a fraction of the price of trakracer and next level, it's a crime to have a video like this and not even mention that. Since it's aluminum extrusion, there is little to no difference between them and more 'name' brands like trakracer and gt omega. Hell you can look up the parts list from a simshop like advanced sim racing and just order all the pieces yourself from a metal shop. I did exactly thst for some add on pieces for my rig. You can order custom lengths and custom end taps and the hardware so you can basically add on whatever you can imagine and have it identical to a name brand at a fraction of the cost.

@@Motoscotty Advanced Sim Racing makes pretty good and cheap rigs, so does 6 sigma racing. I bought an ASR3 from advanced sim racing, but both companies make more affordable lighter duty versions - advanced sim racing makes the ASR1, 6 sigma makes the 6s-slim. they both should be able to handle wheels up to around 10nm (honestly though you could probably get away with over 12), and like a 75kg load cell (i have a 100kg load cell that i use at 45% - and i doubt anyone actually ever uses the full 100kg, looking online most people use between 40-60kg even on heavier pedals).
sites like open sim rigs will sell you plans for sim racing rigs that you can DIY with wood or profile or whatever. advanced sim racing also actually has a full parts list for each rig on their site, and the build plans are on their youtube channel, so if you want to DIY you can order what you need from wherever near you that sells profile and build it using that (you will need to come up with your own solutions for the pedal plate and wheel deck though if you go this route)
If you have a junkyard accessible, you can get a seat from a real car for probably like 50 bucks, but you can also find cheapish ones on amazon and aliexpress. also since they are aluminum profile, you can modify them as needed with easily available profile stock. I modified mine with profile from an online store called fazstore here in canada. the profile itself is pretty cheap, its all the t-nuts and fittings etc, that end up making it more expensive.
Also these places usually have black Friday deals. So if your planning on buying it may be worth waiting a little till a sale comes up

Spent a fortune… they never shipped the item.
Contacted support many times. Heard nothing.. being forced to dispute purchased with bank.
Not a great time as I bought it weeks ago for an event… had to miss the event.
