    From Eric's 1977 album, " Slowhand" this is the first track. This was one of Eric's biggest American hits, written in one of his favourite songwriters style, J.J. Cale from Oklahoma. This is where you're hearing the country Harri. Side B was "Cocaine" another great J. J. Cales song.
    Absolutely great tune, with an addictive melody and such bluesy guitar work by the great one. Fantastic. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and OddBall 1958. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

    Albert Lee does the backing vocals on this live version. Clapton's original studio version included the great Yvonne Elliman and the song's co-writer Marcy Levy on backing vocals which adds even more richness to the song.

    • @magneto7930
      @magneto7930 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is not rockabilly, it's more like country blues. Rockabilly is Carl Perkins, Bill Haley and the Comets, Buddy Holly, etc. The only similarity would be in Eric's guitar tone.

  • @SnowmanN49
    @SnowmanN49 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wikipedia classifies it as Country Blues, for whatever that's worth.
    Written by Eric, Marcy Levy and George Terry. Marcy also contributed backing
    vocals and George played guitar. Carl Radle, from Derek and the Domino's
    plays bass.

He was with many great groups before going solo. The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek & The Dominos. He has had a lot of solo hits such as "Layla", "I Shot The Sheriff", "Tears In Heaven", "Change The World", "My Father's Eyes", "Wonderful Tonight" & many more.

    Why has he asked you to react to this? The 70s, Clapton is absolutely wasted. As he was for all the 70S. Therefore his playing is negatively affected by his toxic state, there are much better versions of this when he isn't under the influence. Watch old grey whistle test with EC from the 70s, you can clearly see he is absolutely drunk, just like this performance. It is not Clapton at his best.

He tried to play but kind of self-imploded and quit part way into the first song, muttered “I can’t play” and stumbled offstage. Of all places to do that !
