I'm actually really proud to say that I also discovered a few of these tricks just playing as a kid.

I did also. I know I beat rouge and shadow 2 like that. This was probably my favorite game as a teenager. My best friend even got all 180 emblems. Now that was a real challenge. I didn't have the skill to pull it off, but it was awesome watching my friend do it.
I got all the 180 emblems too. This is one of my 5 favourite games of all time, I spent hours, hours, hundred if not at least 1 thousand hours not only playing the game itself but also in the Chao Garden. And yes, it was a real challenge, at least to me it was. I remember perfectly the day I finally got the last emblem, two friends of mine were in my house watching and when I saw that "A Rank"... that was pure magic.

FlaskFlash I know right? I LOVED this game. I spend tons of time in the various chao gardens as well. I remember trying to breeding invisible chao, translucent chao, and even trying to breed chao with perfect stats. That last one was a lot harder, and I never quite got it.

I never got the invisible (not the transparent) Chao, I think you needed one Jewel and those are from the Sonic Advance games from GBA. BUT I got indeed perfect Chaos with all the stats in S, like, a lot. If it wasn't because it's 4:00 AM here I would upload pics directly from the GC (which I need to connect too x'D)
Sometimes I think about the possbilities of the Chao Garden in a remake, I mean, just imagine trading with anybody around the world like in Pokémon but with the Chao. Ah...

Seeing him do the knuckles levels so quick makes me feel attacked
I honestly enjoyed playing them multiple times and exploring them thoroughly as a kid, but I also have a really happy memory of getting an A rank once on the level where Rouge is looking for the chaos emeralds. I had found the first 2 kinda quickly and had a decent score, and then I accidentally flew right into the third emerald that was floating above one of the fans, meaning that I finished way quicker than I ever had and got my first A rank as a little boy lmao.
@@revenevan11 Actually because of the time limit on Security Hall, beating the level without dying basically always gives an A rank. It's one of the free A ranks in the game, there's an Eggman level near the end that also has this quirk because of the sheer amount of enemies it gives you.
Using hints and memorizing the level design is fun, it's actually easier than sonic because it has no shitty one button syndrome
The Metal Harbor stage. ''Yea there aren't any skips here or anything, just tens of a second perfection.'' Proceeds to skip like half of the level.
One of my favorite GDQ runs of all time. The way the runner + the guys on the couch handled commentary was so refreshing to watch. Unbelievably good job on commentating and explaining everything, they all work together really well and form a great team. So well orchestrated and all seem like great people who really care about the game

He broke into GUN's prison, blew up a shit ton of GUN's robots, and broke Sonic out (who was arrested due to mistaken identity, but still.) Tails committed plenty of crimes.

I like to imagine the top speedrun is Sonic's actual default canon pace through the level, and him phasing through walls is just him vibrating his molecules like the flash
Watching this 5 years later and it's still one for the best Speedrun / runner / couch combinations. Good banter entire game, no one over powering, great knowledge on everything happening and good encouragement for any mistakes. Really great video

Dude wtf I remember I spent at least 50 minutes on knuckles stages when I was a kid
I specifically remember 1 of the knuckles stages taking forever the first time. The ungodly amount of time they spend memorizing every pattern, and optimizing the run is nowhere near worth it for 99% of the population 😂.

this is actually such a really good run, i was only going to watch the shadow 2 fight because i wanted to learn a faster way to beat him for the boss rush mode but i ended up watching the whole way through. learned some new things, and realized that i had already been doing certain strats! overall very clean, everything was executed super well and even the mess-ups are just due to the games buggy nature.

some levels in this game may be bad, but the point of the game is to beat the story mode then replay the fun levels to raise your chao. it's still the only sonic game i can stomach because of its well-done chao garden

Eh the score you get matters too, that's why ya get higher ranks from tricks and enemy kills. It rewards speed, tricks, enemy kills and generally being stylish and fast rather than just fast. Basically what Sonic is all about at heart

As someone who probably played this game TOO MUCH as a kid, watching this speed run made me both proud and ashamed to play this game. as I learned I knew some of the speed run strats without knowing what they were, and am in awe at how fast this game can be broken.
