as some one who lives in b6 i can say they council were never going to re vamp the station they not long done a station near it for the common wealth games and now thet birmingham city council are now banckrupt where is this money coming from for the new train station ? but even before they went banckrupt they said they will not be revamping aston or witton station

My instant reaction is - good.
Gut feeling tells me the council is trying to be to clever for it’s own good.
They want the Euros, but I suspect they want the club to start the North Stand development, they then drag their feet re funding, time passes, and our great club is then obligated to fund infrastructure investment to cope with the increased crowds.
We all know getting away from the ground is a nightmare, so let’s improve the facilities post match, hold onto the fan base for longer and earn out of us at the same time, and by doing so the council does not have us stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Plus, and speaking as a supporter who was ‘chosen’ in 1969, I was dreading next season’s season ticket price with a reduced capacity and also being league champions. 😀

I guess that at a time when Villa are spending to the FFP max in order to build a silverware winning team, the last thing the bean counters wanted was to reduce the match day income for two seasons while the new stand is being built. Personally, I couldn't give a stuff about the Euro competition, it's club over country for me every day of the week. So, although I'm disappointed in this delay in expanding Villa Park's capacity, if this is what's best for Villa right now, then so be it. UTV

Contrary to some of the more logical points made here and elsewhere…. I think they are looking at a double revamp of the North and Doug Ellis stand and want to coordinate how to go about it in a cost-effective manner.
Villa is going only 1 way, and that is up!

Disappointed with the stadium redevelopment news as it should have been in progress by now if it stayed on schedule originally but after listening to both Neil and Paddy's views on it, perhaps it does make sense to wait a little bit longer to see where we finish in the league which will ultimately decide that future outcome! Seems like securing Champions League football is an ABSOLUTE MUST otherwise, Chris Heck is going to be left with egg on his face! 🙈

Stating the infastructure will not work and boy do i know this, working around the corner, match days aside, its getting worse! I dont think raising to 50k is making the mark, no for me, Heck is leaning towards a location move and a new stadium, yes I know, there will be uproar but you have to think about progress. Sometimes people do not like change but as rumoured, a new purpose built stadium at the NEC with say 80,000 who can get in and out quicker and easier. I do not think the new man Heck wants Purslows plans out. Its a new vision and a new statement, guys, its happening, NEC, its also closer to BMH...

It wouldn’t surprise me if we’re looking to scale up the redevelopment given the progress. I always thought that an extra 10k capacity was a bit short sighted when we have over 30k on the waiting list.

    • @Javo_AV
      @Javo_AV 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The 30k waiting list is a marketing tool. People have their babies signed up on it. A lot of people signed up before cost of living crisis. MOST people sign up just to be on it incase. I can guarantee if we had an extra 30k seats in the stadium tomorrow, we wouldn't have close to another 30k season ticket holders. It'll be closer to none than to like 12k I bet.
We don't actually sell out every game, which should be a key indicator for real demand.

I am surprised by today's statement. However, I sort of get where he is coming from. It feels to me that the club are balancing the on field and off field developments. Take the possibility of Champions League football and the money that will generate, Millions, which could then be ploughed into stadium development. Sort of " Get there first, generate income, build the North Stand"...Makes sense to me . UTV

Very very disappointing news re The North Stand. Heck is off on a bad foot cancelling Christmas. We've already been d1cked around for 2 years and now it's been 'Paused' aka cancelled.
Heck says what's best 'for all fans' and in the same breath mentions a 3000 corporate/entertainment space (that v.few fans will attend or afford) and a doubling in the size of the shop!
There is never a good time to knock a stand and reduce capacity but if we want to grow our Revenue Base to battle FFP we need to knock what is a toilet and eye sore of a stand.
If he's blaming the infrastructure being inadequate what is he doing to address this with the council. Purslow for all his faults seemed to know who and how to work the council/government.
What he doesn't discuss is the cost of NOT going ahead with the redev.
Don't buy that Heck is putting Villa first because he's not putting our fututure first.

I’ve said before “way before the north stand rebuild plans” and I’ll say it again but I wouldn’t be that against moving from villa park..look I love the old place and the history of it and I’ve been going down there since 1984 as did my father before me and my grandparents before that..but I’ve realised for years now that redeveloping villa park because of its location is going to be a nightmare and thwart with problems..I’d consider moving and building a brand new stadium..there’s masses of waste ground just the other side of the Aston expressway not far from star city just east of the city centre that could be used and there’s also lots of space for a brand new train station and there’s railway lines already there leading to new street station..from the off I knew this wouldn’t be as simple as we all thought and looks like this is just going to be headache..I mean this is just one stand we’re rebuilding and look at all the trouble organising it’s been up to now and there’s not even been one brick laid yet

Chris heck gives me really bad vibes. The kind of slimy American patter that cleverly makes you feel really good about you as the customer, but behind the scenes it’s about 1 thing and 1 thing only. The company’s profits. COMPANY highlighted, as I honestly do not feel it’s about Aston Villa. It’s about the umbrella company making money.
Building a new north stand loses money and decreases revenue for now. That’s it. So they wud rather focus on making the shop double its size and an entertainment venue for things that we don’t really need or want as a fan anyway. It’s just money making. I get it n I get what he’s saying.
But how about we get the matchday, as in actual football, experience right first! How about we cater to the thousands of ppl on the waiting lists first. How’s about we fix the issues we have as fans who visit week after week first.
Chris heck is the guy bringing in terrace view. Lower grounds. Now scrapping the stadium development. Creating more merchandise and corporate venues instead. Scrapping a badge that by the initial look at this 150 yrs badge is better than anything I feel we will be getting instead.
But. We’re playing well right now everyone. So we will wait till we’re crap again 👍🏼👍🏼🙈
All makes total sense as an earning department of an umbrella company.
Makes zero sense for Aston Villa and its fans.
