Aston Villa have been among the big movers this window including the rumoured capture of Everton Midfielder, Amadou Onana. Pete the Canadian Villa fanatic talks about what the club might be getting in the Belgian International, while also dissection several other recent business, including the re-acquisition of Jaden Philogene. Another quality update Pete. I'm excited to see how we continue to shape up for the new season. As you said, in Monchi we have a real quality member of the team and he's certainly going about business in a positive way. Really looking forward to how Enzo fits in and adapts. Along with Onana (hopefully announced soon!), those two could be very shrewd business indeed. I'm sure there are plenty more twists and turns before the season kicks off. UTMV!

Great Video Pete! I think by the end of this window our height will be a weapon and not a liability. A lot of our signings have flexibility in positional play and tick a lot of boxes playing in the EPL. I feel Diaby lacked the physicality of playing in traffic in the middle (no.10 role) and defensively a liability. There is better players for the type of money he cost. A block buster signing or two still coming I feel if we can get Diaby and Duran sold for decent money. But already a great transfer window. Looking forward to your next one Pete!

10:30 Hull didn’t lose money on the deal.
They signed him for £5m and we retained a matching clause and sell on clause.
Everton and Ipswich offered £18m, we offered the same. Whoever signed him, £5m was owed to Villa as a sell on. So by Villa signing him back, the £5m is owed back to us which would just be deducted from Jade’s fee.
Hull made a tidy £8m on him, as they would’ve had either of the other two clubs signed him.

Not sure how you concluded Hull lost money on the Jaden deal. Either they get 18mio from Ipswich and 30% of it go to Villa or they get the net amount directly from Villa. It’s the same amount in the end. All in all, Hull made about 7,5 mio profit for showcasing the player for 1 season while benefiting from his service. That’s a great deal.

Don’t think Diaby has the physicality for the Prem, so an easier ride for a bigger wage in a predominantly Muslim country (as he is Muslim so why not right?) doesn’t seem so unbelievable!.

This squad that we are starting to put together is starting to look really good!! You can see that every department that needed some improvements last season is bit by bit being addressed with the calibre of players we are bringing in!! We are not only bringing down the squads average age, but we are also bringing in players with some height "which we certainly needed" if you put together our best 11 not only have we got numerous options but whatever first 11 unai puts out it's one hell of a team!!

Why Cash? I rate him as a decent squad player/able to do a job starting, and now he is getting international experience he’ll bring more to his game and the squad
I agree. But like Pete says, he is not quite at Champions League level. If Nedelkjovic can step up and we sign a Champions League RB, then we can get him off the books. I certainly wouldn’t be upset if he stays.

England didn't deserve to win, Spain were the better side, and Southgate is an average manager.
Average? Cmon mate, he's changed the face and level of England football. From an embarrassment to consistent last four finishing teams. I agree we need someone else now to go further forward but give him his dues, he's elevated us in world football and in the eyes of the nation. 10yrs ago we were a laughing stock now we are expected to go all the way
@darthpaul490 He's won nothing. Not played or beaten anyone significant. England have some of the best attacking talent in the world, and Southgate sets up so negatively. Any decent manager would have won something with this squad. Participation trophy for him.
Southgate is Southgate, he’s done what he felt best and his record is definitely decent, but with the quality we have we should be playing the same quality attacking football that Spain play, yet we look disjointed and inept.. time for a new approach for me!.

Michael Kayode to Villa. (Right back) 19GBP. Kosta will slot in to our squad and play a part. Cash had his moments but that's not it. There are levels. Philogene back to Villa makes me very happy. All new players are good additions. Nice window. The right back issue isn't new news. Since Kenny Swain it's been an issue. That is ridiculous in terms of time.
I'm not sure about the report of Alisha Lehmann's move to Juventus netting Villa $12 million,as i understand it would be a world record for women's football & i don't see it myself unless it was done too make up for Douglas Luiz moving for less than what was expected?..... up the mighty Villa!!! 😊

He has the attributes to be a dominating presence but I don't think he has the mentality of Viera and he goes down far too easy for a big lad ...he needs to improve on that.

Why sell Luiz for 46 million for FFP and then buy Onana 50 million????
The Luiz deal counts at £60m ! £42m cash plus two players at £18m. We're £10m in credit.

Cash in before 30th June was key to meeting PSR. Onana spend only counts in 2024/25 financial year when we have significant revenue streams e.g. Addidas to still meet PSR UTV
Because we had to sell before July 1st or face penalties. Luiz was sold and now we can spend again. Stupid rules but it is what it is.
