23:20 I'm happy I'm not the only one who felt the discussion about selling Watkins was absolutely bonkers. Emery is a great coach and everything, but you can't just replace Watkins like it's easy. His goals and assists were massive for us this season, to suggest that another striker is out there that can easily slot is madness to me. I got a bit of fightback on Twitter about suggesting selling him would be a mistake because he's irreplaceable, but I stand by the fact that selling him would weaken us for next season, in a season when we want to compete in the Champions League.

This becomes more confusing when you consider this change is to the Premier League's PSR, while teams playing in Europe need to comply with Uefa's PSR, which I THINK is maximum of 70% of revenue to be paid on players and transfers. This is less than the proposed 85% for the Premier League. So increasing the allowed FFP loss to 135 Mil over 3 years would help teams like Everton and Forrest avoid a penalty in the Premier League, they would still need to comply with Uefa rules if they want to play in Europe. I think this is something that may effect Chelsea next season and maybe Villa. I dunno, its still very confusing to me. UTV.

Spot on Neil. Hadn't considered it but the physical profile of Rogers, Nedeljkovic and now Brown is quite similar. Reminds me of how City, or even old Mourinho's Chelsea were giants who could play. Perhaps with PSR concerns the strategy could be to use the draw of UCL to stock up on kids with a huge ceiling. Another 5 year plan, rather than rolling the dice on next season.

Competitive integrity should be something that PSR/FFP serves to promote, not hinder!, teams such as Villa and Newcastle who have achieved UCL with teams of less combined value than the top teams have “achieved” something right?, and when someone, or people achieve something they are generally rewarded right? So why is there structures in place to impede/stifle progression for teams that are already “up against it!”. We shouldn’t be forced to sell a left leg to buy a right leg, especially when the teams we are chasing (financially) are in their fortuitous position after spending as they wanted and not handicapped upon the implementation of FFP, rant over but annoying as hell!, least we have Monchi to traverse this sh1te pile 😅 UTV

Kudos to Luton for finding a place for someone who had always been a misfit. I think that if it wasn't for the FFP restrictions though we wouldn't be looking at players like Barkley. He appears to be this summer's Tielemans. I read that Luton just need his wages back from last season, that is roughly £2M. We have Kamara out injured until at least September, so we need cover at defensive midfield, and here he is. The point about squad rotation is very important too, so I think that Barkley will see a reasonable amount of minutes on the pitch throughout next season. So Barkley coming to the Villa makes sense, and it's a good start to the summer business. UTV
