    Not a fan if I'm honest. Look a bit cheapo too. The lion doesn't look right at all, should be facing the other way around. I'll just wear my old school shirts & save myself 100 quid, yeah them prices are a joke aswell. The players faces on that thumbnail from Neils pod say it all aswell. Cheers lads ✌🏼💜💙 UTV

    I only want a traditional claret shirt with light blue sleeves and the prepared on the badge, Away white shirt, light blue shorts home or away white with claret light blue stripe or both . I hate gambling companies and like Dan I would love it if they reintroduced the Acorns logo because that made me proud of them. The thing that made me proud the most historically is to a man our team refused to make the the 'Nazi' salute in a tour of pre war Nazi Germany. The National England team did amongst [many others] on their tour, and during the Olympics the French and many others did. Never the less ALL those who represented Aston Villa proved splendidly defiant !

      If you're educated, you'd get it but you're clearly under 25 and use emoji... My reply clearly was for someone smart. Who wouldn't reply back. You replied. Just like I thought you would. The knowledge I have of the beautiful game would make you balk. As if I was serious about transfers and wanting them now. Tut tut, kids!

    • @joshuajones1793
      @joshuajones1793 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm actually 31 you buffoon but you carry on trying to preempt someone's age without even knowing them! If I want to use emoji's in my sentences, I will do! That doesn't make me any less intelligent than you are, or even not old enough to hold a grown-up, adult conversation! The only reason why you thought I would reply back to you is because you purposely made a comment which warranted a response QUITE CLEARLY! Now, I'm not going to bother wasting my time with someone who is as ignorant and foolish as you are, so I won't be replying again after this as I have better things to do with my time than give you the pleasure and attention you're craving for! Goodbye loser!

    Ridiculous. New badge. Stick with it. EVERYWHERE. We look clown like. This is a massive club. Be professional. I like the new home kit. I like the new sponsor and the new badge. Gambling sponsorship is legal. Get over it. Its great for revenue, which we need. Nearly went into administration, profits turned recently....research it... it wasn't much and first profit in ages. Player profits/values compared to prices paid fantastic. Heck in Purslow out isn't a factor. I welcome Heck. What a great pedigree he has. I Didn't like Purslow "posh pants" anyway. Purslow did some good work and I respect that. But he also stuffed up. New stadium has to come at some point in a far better location. Infrastructure at Villa Park is embarrassing. Two concerts recently, to get in and out was a joke. Match day getting in and out a joke. Train station upgrade is a start I suppose. Everton historic like us, new stadium. Fair play to them. Some times you have to move on. We won the European Cup in early 1980's. Not in 2022. I actually loved sticking it to man city at any opportunity about never sbeing champions of Europe.... guess that ship has sailed. Let's stick it to /sing it to Newcastle next season instead!!! Eddie Howe will falter.

  • @jamescourten2272
    @jamescourten2272 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I completely understand the Purslow/Heck transition and like many have read between the lines here but surely this decision, if the round badge is eventually scrapped, just diminishes the trust between the fanbase and the club. By giving fans an opportunity to vote and have their say, to potential take those opinions away and suggest "actually we changed our minds and decided your vote doesn't matter" will just create animosity. The line that they will monitor reactions makes no sense when our vote was the tool in which to monitor reactions. Even if there were justification for this decision, it still makes the club look amateurish to those looking in from the outside.
    As far as the sponsorship deal is concerned I simply don't understand the hate from sections of the fanbase. If we want to compete at the top table whilst meeting profit and sustainability regulations, we simply must capitalise on every opportunity we have and that means selling the sponsorship rights to the highest bidders and increasingticket prices to reflect any success. It's inevitable that once the work is completed on the North stand that that will be rebranded to allow renaming in association with a sponsorship deal. I only hope the club never renames Villa Park.

  • @carlthomas7354

    The badge piece doesn't make sense to me at all. How can they measure national reaction if it isn't on digital channels? Same for the global reaction. The only time other people see it are other fans actually watching the game.
    I don't mind but to me it seems a bit disjointed and haphazard.

    The home shirt is very disappointing, this gambling outfit BK8 does NOT represent Aston Villa as a family club and to top it off the £115 price tag for the home shirt and £40 for the shorts they're taking the mickey surely ?
    I call this Purslows last act, well if the club is not banging on hard about there current strip then there must be some serious grumblings of discontentment behind the scenes.
    All the club has to do is swap the logos around from front to sleeve to keep the fans happy which in turn draws peoples opinions away from the negative vibes regarding gambling.
    Keeps everyone happy.

    I don’t think that the new kit is unique at all, it looks like a cheap Burnley knock off!
    How many people will know the squiggly bits on the shirt are supposedly sound waves of Allez Allez Allez?
    £70 plus postage is a ridiculous amount during a recession,people would be better off paying £45 for a retro shirt!
    Also how many major organisations have two logo’s?
    We have just appointed a senior manager to oversee our branding and marketing at home and abroad,what message does it send when we can’t even settle on a logo!

      I'm not too keen on the shirt design either but I'll probably buy it still as I haven't brought a home shirt since the season we returned to the Premier League! 🫢 However, if the away shirt turns out to be a much better design, I'll most likely just invest in that only and not bother with the home shirt!

    Here’s my take on it… last season I thought castore nailed it. And this was to my surprise because having seen a number of their kits previously they either looked very generic, or using same patterns/designs for multiple clubs, or the materials used could look a little cheap, shiney and a little tacky. But I thought we got our branding on point last year. It was very minimalistic yet sharp, and dare I say it, clean and regal. And I use that last word on purpose… regal, because we have something very unique about our brand, our club, our football team… the future king of England (whether you like the royal family or not) supports out team and attends games when he can. And so when you compare the branding of Will and Kate, the monarchy and villa last year; that theme of regality, cleanliness, sharpness, could all be levelled at the branding, and the kit, the use of a matte finish to the design of the claret and blue used, it was almost pastel shading and made the design stand out, but in a modest way. The kit this year looks cheaper in quality, the sponsor although offering more money, is very cheap and tacky and has a chequered history of being distasteful and cheap, and if I’m honest, the ‘sound waves’ is (in my humble opinion) tacky also. We’ve lost that sharp, clean branding that I thought made us look regal and stood out from the crowd, but not in a glaring way like we have seen some teams do in recent years with snake skin under print to shirts etc. When I look at a villa shirt, to me I look at it and think “is that shirt fit to be worn by a king?” -and I use that term not only because of Will and the family, but because we the fans, deserve the best in class, the biggest team in the midlands, a team that has such a rich heritage and class that is only beaten by some of the juggernauts in football. And therefore we are part of that football royalty, and we should demand the best when it comes to standards, the best kit designs, the best materials, and if we were gift this kit to Will and Kate as a present (as we have done in recent years) , they won’t look at it and say “what on earth is this dish rag?!?”, which sadly I think this new kit is… and don’t get me started on the sponsor and the two badge debacle… 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 (I’ll get off my soap box now…)

  • @UTV1970
    @UTV1970 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The marketing companies will be all over the badge and advising the board that there needs to be an attached association, wether a word like “prepared”, or “home of football”.. something to link us to our heritage which can be then be used in association with the club.
    We are Villa fans, we know the badge, but the owners want a world wide brand that can attract new support.
    Whether it’s missing the words Football Club- dare I say it “Birmingham “… but there has to be a link to the past 150 years.
    If we are thinking of opening a museum, there you have it- there needs to be a branded link.
    If we have to rebrand everything in a years time then that’s spending good money, and not after bad.
    Heck is seeing with fresh eyes, has a great commercial record so I personally think let’s make sure we get it absolutely right!

    Regarding the badge,the club said that through consultation with the fans they were "open with the idea of the lion facing the other way".Fair enough,yet the 2 badges we could vote on were both facing the other way(?)Surely one of the new badges should be facing the same way as an option to keep it as it is?

    The round badge is Brilliant we had it before Chelsea and Man City but I still say it needs a yellow outer ring to set off not a blue one, basically bring back the old one that adorned the shirts for the league championship and the European Cup, they should never have changed it, if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it.

      As a brand designer myself, I'm completely with you. There is something that is not quite gelling within the design. Personally I think the lion needs to face the opposite direction & the typography doesn't look strong enough around the top & bottom. I'm really confused with the press release statement, saying they will continue to use the shield in the club & on digital platforms, this cannot be down to the cost of replacing elements as it costs nothing on digital formats. Something tells me the club aren't 100% on-board but have to go with it because the fans have spoken! What do you think?

    I really don't like any of it.
    I think the kits bland (but there's not much you can do with it is there tbf).
    The sponsor is ugly and immoral.
    The badge seems to split opinion and when we had to vote, I went with this one - but it just looks awful now it's on the shirt in my opinion. I could maybe tolerate it if the lion was facing the other way - the fact it is facing outwards just looks wrong compositionally.
    An ideal scenario regarding the badge would be to keep the old shield design but have a better illustrated lion (like the one in the new badge).
    I won't be paying those prices either - unless we win a cup in it and then I'll have to won't I? But I won't be happy about it.

    Hi Dan
    Have watched your videography for a few years now, since TVV days and then into Reach. May I add just a bit of constructive feedback, please?
    Please do not take this as a personal criticism, as there are many creators out there that do the same but it's a phenomenon that spoils a podcast-type of 'talking heads' conversation for me.
    I appreciate that it's a viable method of keeping a video lean and trimmed down, but the huge volume of cuts when editing spoils the organic flow of natural human conversation.
    With the amount of cuts in this particular video, the viewers have, for example, no contextual pregnant pauses in conversation, no general emotive huffs and puffs, no sporadic jokey laughs, no intakes of deep breaths in response to a certain questions and the brain just isn't given time to digest questions and responses within the conversation itself, because there are simply no audio breaks and it comes across as very robotic. There is a continuous stream of chat without pause and it hinders the natural flow of the convo.
    Maybe a carefully crafted mixture of the method to keep the vids trim to a certain degree plus leaving a good element of natural conversation and emotion would be a good balance? I'd much prefer a video like that that's 30 mins as opposed to this aggressively condensed 17 mins. Fully appreciate this is a subjective opinion...
    Cheers and hope I haven't offended, will buy you a pint or three if I see you around!

      It looks compositionally wrong facing to the right. The badge used to be in the middle of the shirt in the 1880s so it didn't matter what way the lion was facing. The first time the badge was placed on the left of the shirt the lion was facing inwards so it didn't look wrong. This looks wrong 😂
