Other than that who has left? No CR7, Benzema, Mane, Mitrovic have left. A whole host of Africans and Brazilians players seem happy. Newspapers will write anything for clicks. The truth is alot of European journalists want the Saudi league to fail so spread rumours. It's quite an impressive league considering it's in its infancy in my opinion.

      I’ve been surprised Simon believes they need a version of FFS in that I don’t see it being anything really….a lot of the growth in global football has come from obviously global IE USA Africa and Asia …those from a distance fans are obsessed with PL and La Liga less but generally 99.9% Europe
      I’m saying it a little tongue in cheek but those recent global fans have gotten tribal in they’re following….becoming latter days global fans of teams over 100 years old but a league with teams 100 months old pretty much is utter laughable…again…surprised Simon has fallen for this somewhat

    I an English west ham lad. Gerrard broke my heart in 2006 cup final.
    My office is 5 minutes from Al Ettifaq stadium which is in Al Khobar.
    Gerrard stays in an amazing place that is a good place to live.
    His family can drive 30 minutes and enjoy Bahrain.
    Qatar, Dubai is a 45 -60 minute flight.
    Paid top money, tax free...leave him alone

    Simon has it right . To be paid that kind of money for that kind of result is laughable. I read the other day that little old Scunthorpe, who are in the sixth tier, are attracting crowds approaching 5,000 for home games. Stevie G would give his tight arm ( no pun intended!!!) for any crowd of that size. I would love to know how his wife and kids are “loving” the Saudi experience.

    His family are either in Bahrain, which has liberal policies for foreigners, or his family are living in enclaves inside Saudi that the foreign oil workers live in (BP, Shell). His family is absolutely not being exposed to the culture 😂
    He is being paid a fortune to manage a pub team for publicity only. They don't care if he wins the league, so long as he sits in the seat. On top of that, because it is a pub league with limited expectations, he is under minimal pressure... Certainly not in the same universe as to the pressure he was under at Villa or Rangers.
