- Dyson V6 Flashing red Light FIX - Can someone please help, does anyone have any information about why there is a flashing red light on my Dyson V6 Animal Stick Vacuum. some must have taken it apart to find out if it is a battery of problem with a part.

I own the DC16 (and also the DC 35 and 62 (and with cord the DC 7 and 8)) since its release in 2006. Every time I had the same breakdown as you, it was the battery that was tired. The batteries wear out due to their use (charge & discharge cycle and the oxidation of their internal electrodes). For Info, the Dyson batteries I have are made up of 6 Lithium cells in series. As each cell has a nominal voltage range of 3.7-4V, the overall battery voltage varies from 24V (LV charged) to 22V (battery discharged). ATTENTIOn to safety (risk of fire if the overall battery voltage drops below 15 V).
My DC 35 and 62 batteries have inside PCBs for charge management and individual control of each cell (this circuit is called the BMS (Battery Management System). I have already replaced them but it really is not easy (disassembly of the plastic case, difficult desoldering (even with a 100 W iron and a pump, desoldering braid), and this is risky (fire in the event of a short circuit). The DC 16 battery does not contain BMS , it only contains a 12 KiloOhm thermistor.
Also note that the battery capacity of the DC16 (1000 mAH) is 2 times lower than those of the Dc 35 and DC62 (2100 mAH).

PROBLEM:
i just bought a multimetre today and measured both battery and the main body , battery was ok 23,5 V . I measured the main body for the first 3 seconds i got the beep sound and it stoped. Can i assume there is a short circuit in main body? But when i insert the battery it works with no problem . After 5 mn of working it gives me the red flashing light and stops. Then i remove the battery and press the button to check it , it gives blue light and 23V which means it is ok ? What can the red light result from even though battery and main body works ok? thanks in advance
The fault appeared on my Dyson only 6 months after purchase, Dyson sent replacement battery, one year later the battery has failed again. I'm not convinced the battery is at fault, more than the motor / unit has killed the battery over a short period.

I've got the same problem with my Dyson just wanted to use it an it's flashing the red light. I've used used the other day and it worked normal. Now looking for videos on TH-cam.
What did you do after all?
Firstly I would always suggest replacing the battery, there is some inconsistency on how many flashes means what. Battery is the cheapest and easiest thing to replace.
Our V7 is only about 4 months old and has the red blinking light. Obviously not happy. 26 people waiting to get through to Dyson so calling them is impossible. I just used their online chat to talk to them and since it's less than 6 months old, they're sending a new battery for free. I'm wondering if it has to do with the shocks I get when using it, from the charge port. (static) They suggested using dryer softener sheets to wipe down the vacuum head, and also had suggested putting one in the clear bin and running it (never unattended, and only while upright, not reclined) for a few minutes to help coat the inside of the bin.
I have it for about 4 months too. I called them immediately as it stopped working and the guy on the phone was very helpful. He new about the problem, it seems to be quite common and he arranged to send us a new battery. I called Sunday and got the battery on Wednesday.

Replacing the battery unit is the fix… the flashing red light in this sequence it the troubleshoot code for dead battery cell.
Mine wasn't the battery. It was water from the filter that triggered the need for repair. Basically, putting in the filter wet = bad idea. 10 blinks of the red light.
I’ve done the same thing. We’re you able to reset the unit or resolve your issue somehow?
