Dyson V8 - No power - red flashing LED

  • So, this is a Dyson V8 vacuum cleaner and the issue is that it doesn't power on anymore, it only has that red LED light that starts flashing.
    Usually, that red light means that the battery is dead and should be replaced. Well, this time is not the battery. It was a bit unexpected what I`ve found.

    It's an important point you note here and great that you uploaded this. I was about to dispose a V8 battery due to red flashing light however I tested it on another V8 and it was fine all blue lights. Out of pure interest, I stuck the other battery into the broken unit and sure enough, it also flashed red.
    Nice as now have a spare battery at least.
    Later Edit: I did a quick continuity test of the two battery prongs that are exposed within the handle of the Unit once battery was removed. Sure enough there was a beep thus a problem/short between both. Must be the same issue you have here. Thanks again for posting.

    Your video gave me a good look at the red trigger. (Mine is broken inside and i need to disassemble). That V8 trigger is not sold online anywhere I can find. Guess I will need to a plastic repair as it doesn't look like the other trigger that is widely sold will be interchangeable.

    Mine was flashing red too. Spent 25 bucks on a ryobi adapter, done. Runs perfect

      I assume the problem was the battery. It's perfect if you found an alternative to the original Dyson battery.

    My V8 just died and has 4 Flashing Red lights on the battery pack... I'm reading things that it might be a motor issue, can you confirm?

    • @techfixPOV

      If the LEDs flash red even when you have the charger connected, the battery is most likely defective.

    Do you have any video which gives info about the thin red and white wires? What is the voltage of that and where is it connected? I have to test a dyson v6l motor without other parts just by itself and there is no info, I guess 3.3v or 5v but I want to be sure.

    • @birkan1

      And also about the blue wires, what do i need to make it run without reed sensor, a video about how to run dyson motor standalone would be nice

    • @techfixPOV

      Those wires are connected to the accessory connector for powering the brushes. There should be battery voltage when a brush is connected.

      @@techfixPOVthanks, How about the white connector?

    • @techfixPOV

      The white connector is from the hall sensor that will activate the boost function when you move the MAX button. It should work with this connector unpluged.
