Funny enough, there are 13 original pipeframe users the first 8 are the original Super Mario Kart Cast, Donkey Kong the 3rd, Wario and, only available in Single Player Pak multiplayer for Mario Kart Super Circuit, the 3 Yoshi color variants for Players 2-4 being Pink Yoshi (Claudi), Light Blue Yoshi (Jonny) and Yellow Yoshi (Sunny).

Since, originally, _RareWare_ had Cranky as his own character, Donkey Kong in _Country_ was just “Donkey Kong,” and Diddy was a redesigned Junior. But _Nintendo_ said to use the original Junior design, or make the new one a separate character. So now, Cranky is OG DK, Donkey Kong is inconsistently presented as either grown-up Junior, or Junior’s son (it’s canonically the latter).
I would've thought you'd try on regular 150cc on retro tracks only from Super Mario Kart but that would've gotten boring quickly I think. Ever played Mario Party 8 with Teams? There's individual team names for every character combination i believe. I loooooved that as a kid. Well that and watching the parade over and over again while clicking on everything.
I did play Mario Party 8! I grew up with the GameCube and am most familiar with Mario Party 7 but I definitely remember exactly what you’re talking about. And yeah I thought about playing all of the SNES tracks but I realized there are only 4 in the game lol
