    I've been using Mepps spinners since the mid 60's and still using them today in the rivers here in Tasmania.,
    95% of the trout I catch & release during the trout season are on Mepps inline spinners. Great video too, thanks for sharing..

    I never really used to use lures until a few years ago, worms being my go to bait, but last summer me and my dad went fishing, we caught our limit of panfish on worms and decided to head in before the heat of the day really started to beat on us on the lake, but as we went in i decided to just grab a random lure from my tackle box and it happened to be a gold mepps spinner, i tossed it in and honestly didnt expect to catch anything as were probably going a bit too fast for trolling in shallow 2-3 feet of water but i was very wrong, almost immediately i caught a really decent 19 1/2" bass, which i kept and as we kept going in to shore i caught two more bass just an inch or two under the limit, i was really surprised and dad was too as he always thought of those spinners as a pike lure, but after a few other trips using the lure im pretty sure you can catch just about anything on them, they really do live up to their reputation as being a bulletproof lure.

      @@ZachRussell.W The fishing kind of went down hill during the nineties, lots of the silver fish,roach,dace and even Bleak declined in the kind of numbers there where, when I was a kid.I no longer live in the area but live up on the river Severn near Bewdley.Theres plenty of nice sized Barbel and big Chub up here and I've had some nice Bream too.I had a chat with a local angler and he'd told me that even the Severn had a loss of silver fish at one time, especially the Roach population.

    • @ZachRussell.W
      @ZachRussell.W  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your using mono or fluorocarbon it will twist a lot but I always use Braid! Not only for this reason but it also slows better casting distance and sensitivity.
      If you have to to want to use mono or flouro, you can tie a swivel on and then a 6-8” leader connecting the spinner to the swivel ,this should keep them out !
