The show is called “Dexter” for a reason. There isn’t any reason to watch a spin-off if Dexter is dead (by execution or killed or life in prison). I have all 8 seasons on dvd. Even named my dog Dexter. To say I love the show is an understatement. I hope Showtime is listening to the many fans who want season 2 of Dexter New Blood with Dexter alive and not as a voice from beyond. I have no interest in a spin-off without Dexter.

@@Mr_Cabes I didn't know Phillips said that. hopefully it's true and not just trying to setup a surprise.. When they asked Michael C Hall about it he was more vague. knowing that he came back to make it up for how the original series ended, doesn't make me think that he'd like to continue for another season (or more), and it seems like he wanted a proper closure more than anything. Maybe stuff changed for him or i just didn't read him very well. we'll find out in about a month.

what happened to the rich guy that they were protesting at the beginning? How did Kurt get his money to buy a truck stop and become rich when he was a semi truck driver? I think 25 years of picking up and prepping these girls were for the rich oil/fracking guy. How else could Kurt get the big set ups to do his killing? I think the end has something to do with the guy Audrey was protesting and refused help on the road when her car broke down. Any thoughts?

Hasn't Michael C. Hall indicated that a follow up to New Blood was at least possible? I think it would be a mistake to end the possibility of further Dexter by killing him or even permanently incarcerating him.
I don't understand why we think every finale has to be final. It could just close our window into the adventures of that character. Personally, I think the best ending for Dexter would have been bringing a conclusion to the major season and series storylines and literally ending the show as it began - "tonight's the night. and it's going to happen again and again." Fade to black.

It is going to end with Dexter killing himself. As much as I hate that ending that’s where they are going and this is why. In the early seasons of Dexter suicide was brought up multiple times. Season 1 in therapy. Season 2 with Doaks. And Harry killing himself was a big plot point. At the beginning of the show Dexter saw suicide as weak. However over time as the character evolved he learned to grow attachments to people and have loved ones in his life. His loved ones keep all dying because of his dark passenger. Harry. Rita, Deb. Dexter finally learns that the only way to protect the ones he loves is to take himself out. I believe this was the original ending to Dexter’s character arc Clyde Phillips wrote and showtime said no way.
Clyde Phillips has described the finale as being shocking. Controversial. the most beautiful thing he has ever written and will blow up the internet.
Harrison is going to come close to dying because of Dexter’s dark passenger and Dexter will end the cycle once and for all. His final kill will be his dark passenger thus ending himself and keeping Harrison out of harms way. End credits.
As a fan I would HATE this ending. But I just know that’s where they are going with it. I am mentally preparing myself.

  • @kidz919
    @kidz919 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

No I have no interest whatsoever in Dexter dying or getting caught. The whole thing behind Dexter is that he was smart and knew how to get away with it. There are serial killers in real life that never get caught so I don't see the issue with that in this conclusion. You can't have Dexter die and then have him be a ghost like Deb and Harry. Thats not comparable because he is the main character. I would just have it where Harrison has a dark passenger as well but tends to kill innocents. Dexter tries to teach him the code but he refuses to listen because his anger is too out of control that he can't follow the code and wants to hurt everyone like he said earlier in the show. Dexter doesn't wanna kill his son but ends up forcefully doing so when he kidnaps Batista the last other person he was close to. Then you can end the series completely. Some people might try to argue that it isn't as satisfying because Dexter gets away and doesn't suffer. I would respectfully disagree. Dexter does suffer in the end of that. He suffers with not only killing his son the only person that made him feel alive besides Rita, Deb or later Hannah but it also would make him feel like shit because he failed as a father and allowed Harrison to be who he was. He has to live with that for the rest of his life (or maybe not if he kills himself). That would destroy him completely. I don't get at all why anyone would wanna see him get caught. Sounds hypocritical to me and sounds like people who are still salty about Season 8 and just are looking for a logical conclusion while I will admit it is logical, it isn't the only logical one

You also have to realize Dexter can longer tamper with evidence like he did at Miami Metro, it's also been 10 years, and he is making mistakes throughout the Season. In reality, Dexter should have been caught a long time ago, he is smart, but there are things he can't avoid, he didn't even know about the titanium in Matt's leg, those are thing Dexter simply can't know Lol. It's over already. Just let it end naturally. Dexter was responsible for many deaths, Laguerta, Rita, Deb, Doakes. He does in a way need to die or face punishment

Maybe Dexter tells Harrison everything and Harrison accepts Dexter anyhow. Dexter’s whole story arc to me is going from believing he is an emotionless killer to realizing he is the opposite. He has the capacity for love and true empathy. Perhaps they work together to kill Kurt and Harrison ends up killing him, using a kill room Dexter helped him set up. Then the big twist is after Harrison kills Kurt he finds out Kurt killed Dexter earlier. Would be a call-back to what happened when Trinity killed Rita in season 4

  • @sergiovargas558

It is my believe that Dexter will end up turning his self in to his girlfriend, who then in turn will hand him over to the Miami Metro Police Department with whom we'll see many if not at least significant portion of the cast from previous season return and have them expose Dexter as The Bay Harbor Butcher. However, I also believe that once the news is out of who Dexter really is, a signficant amount of people will see him as for what he has always wanted them to see him as, a part of them and as a "heroic" figure, after all, Dexter is a serial killer who kills serial killers, once information about his M.O. and profile is released and just like with any other serial criminals I'm sure he'll get a good portion of fans/groupies.
But when it comes to Harrison I believe is going to be him who kills Kurt, but Dexter will take the fall, making Harrison see that his greatest deed as a father was to protect his son, to lure away the darkness away from him and simbolically show him that should he decide to follow on his path he'll end up in jail, after that Harrison either goes away or will be at the moment of Dexter's execution, joined by Cody, Astor and the ghosts of many of his victims.

There is no reason to kill off Dexter, the story arc of Harry's code is the key to his salvation. There is no difference between Dexter and Batman at this point. He needs to stay alive to be a father to Harrison and teach him to hone his darkness. He cant teach someone from the grave. The dark passenger is reverberations from the subconscious, not a ghost teacher. The only satisfying ending is Dexter stays alive with Harrison. Doakes doesn't need to be vindicated, he was a killer before Dexter got to him, and Lila killed him anyhow, then Dexter took her out to vindicate him, Its been done already. What’s the one ending nobody expects to happen? Could it be that Deb is wrong Dexter has changed. All this bickering between him and Harrison finally comes to end, they bond over the inside darkness they share. And wait for it @PetePeppers Dexter teaches Harrison a new code, a code where they use to not kill anymore. They live in peace. The code Harry never taught Dexter, one he’s learned over the last 10 years. After all he didn’t kill for 10 years. Harrison becomes Dexters new symbolistic White buck and Dexter finally gets to love his son in peace like he always wanted too. I know everyone’s like kill Dexter or Dexter has to die but what if? . Angela may get close to figuring him out and the show is making him look sloppy, but we all know Dexter always wins in the end. The title of the last episode is “Sins of the Father.” What if it’s Harry’s sin, and Dexter finally rights that wrong with a new code and a new bond with Harrison. Something to ponder.

he may already know who dexter is as the BHB but has been hoping dexter would reveal his authentic self to him. however he is growing dissappointed with his father's reluctance to be the real 'dexter morgan' with him and reveal the truth of his dark passenger.
kurt however is helping him to indulge in this darkness slowly but surely. breaking his opponents arm infront of dexter was a sign that i know and i am waiting for you to address me. he needed to see the reactions from both dexter and kurt. his loyalty as a son was defined by their reactions in that moment.
in the end, i could see dexter having to kill kurt and harrison even perhaps, molly & angela (though not in his ritualistic manner) all in a final bloody spree before skipping town. by killing angela and molly; more for self preservation, he has broken his code in a new way and broken new ground or spilled "new blood".
series ends with dexter alive with this new blood on his hands.
the protagonist in me would like for him to end up alone, bearded, in another log cabin except this time frying up some eggs with the final shot as the ketchup or hot sauce spills across them. he chews anxiously, putting jim lindsey to rest and welcoming back his darkness.

I personally think that the original ended well, with Dexter faking his death and just moving on and changing his name. Dexter being killed off feels cheap to me. Having Dexter caught and going to jail for life feels wrong because it renders Dexter incompetent, which would also be cheap. Though in this series, I can see Dexter dying while saving his son or trying to take the blame in order to save his son. But my ideal ending would be for Dexter & his son just parting ways, or having it end where Dexter becomes a mentor to his son to teach him what Dexter knows, and continuing his life with the hot female cop. But that's just me. Dexter means well and only kills bad people, and Dexter dying or going to jail just feels cheap and like an insult to the character, imho. But I feel the original writer wants to kill off Dexter, which to me is disappointing.

If they want to continue the series with Harrison then they can't have him kill Dexter. People would reject that spinoff. So the most likely scenario is him sacrificing himself to save his son. It plays into what Deb said too about him always wanting to be seen as a hero. I think the Molly stuff is a red herring, making the audience think the Bay Harbor Butcher stuff will come up. Not enough time for that, and I think the resolution involves Kurt and everything in this timeline.

I just keep fixating on the words shocking and inevitable. I feel like those are the biggest clues but can’t figure out exactly what the inevitable thing would be. Harrison killing him? Him killing Harrison? Sacrificing himself to save Harrison from either prison by taking a fall, or outright dying for his son? Also I don’t think suicide (for real this time😉) would be completely off the table. He’s broken the code multiple times in the past and would therefore fit the code. They could rationalize some greater good sort of argument where in order to end him causing any more pain he gets rid of the monster right in front of him who he should have killed all along, since no matter how far or long he runs for his problems still always seem to have a way of catching up and finding him. It would be a real twist to have the monster put itself down instead of needing to be stopped by an outside force. If anyone could make it work it’s Clyde and the writers.
Whatever they do in the end I, like Pete, hope it is something conclusive at least. That’s what bugged me about the last finale, especially because it was juxtaposed with being so close to the Breaking Bad finale which was the polar opposite, where Walt does pay for his crimes, he redeemed himself to whatever extent he still could beforehand and then died. I feel like Dexter should have ended in a similar way to that. Typically anti-hero stories end with them paying in some way, otherwise you as the viewer feel cheated and like they got away with it which negates the whole point of the moral conflict you feel throughout the show, that ethical grey area where you’re not sure what you might do in the same spot, you know they have to pay the price in the end even if you might sympathize with them a bit, at least that’s how I feel.
I blame ShowTime for that ending both for swapping show-runners/all the writers with the Nurse Jackie crew four seasons before (WHY?! Worst decision ever, made both shows worse, and seemed totally random and unnecessary), and I also blame them for painting the writers into a corner and further restricting their options by specifically forbidding them from killing Dexter.
Silver linings though, if it wasn’t for that unsatisfactory ending then we probably wouldn’t have this awesome New Blood series today because if it had a final ending and he was dead then people wouldn’t have felt like it needed to come back to “prove something” or make it up to the fans. The most we would have gotten would’ve probably been something like one of those 10 or 20 year reunion interviews with the main cast on some morning talkshow like you see for stuff like Back To The Future or whatever, or MAYBE if we were really lucky a one-off movie that told a flashback story that could’ve took place some time in between two of the previous seasons, like a Rogue One if you will. Dexter deserves better is all I know, hopefully they stick the landing this time around.

The series undoubtedly ends with Batista showing up and spouting Dokes’ iconic line “surprise motherfucka”. Miami metro takes down dexter as the BHB, but not before he can teach the code to Harrison. MM finally gets revenge for dokes and Dexter gets to leave his legacy with his son. Whatever happens I hope they don’t continue without Michael C Hall

I have Dexter killing Harrison in the finale. That’s the ‘inevitable’ part, for me. He realises he’s going to turn out like him, only Harrison will take innocent lives. He’s shown a willingness to severely hurt ‘innocent’ lives already.
How we get there exactly, is yet to be revealed… but Dexter lives up to his ‘code’, family or not. He took out his brother so I don’t see a problem with him taking out his son. Whether that’s a satisfactory conclusion is another story and up to others to determine.

    • @orga7012
      @orga7012 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Killing Harrison will be to much I think. What you describe, is putting him in the situation similar to Dr.Vogel and her son in season 8, which make a lot of sense. Though, if they're going to take this route with Dex, I think he'll either try to help make Harrison "normal", or train him to be like him and teach him the code (cause Harrison does feel regret for his actions, and doesn't want to hurt innocent people).

I haven’t seen any regret/remorse in him yet. Yes, he’s admitted he wants to hurt people and that’s acknowledging a problem, but it seems he can’t control his impulses/urges. They have occurred after some provocation though or, in the first instance, on hearing that he’s messed up. I can see what I’ve speculated ’blowing up the internet.’ I’ve seen people theorise it going through other way, Harrison realising who Dexter is and what he does. Maybe they’ll have a heated exchange and Harrison takes him out. Could go either way or neither, we’ll see. It’s finely balanced, which is great and all. Keeps everyone guessing and talking.

I love the show, but I think I’m gonna have to wait 3 weeks and just watch the last 3 in a row. Molly is really getting on my nerves. There’s no way she would have known he recorded them. Plus he saved her life. Harrison and the tantrums every time Dexter tries to talk to him. Driving me nuts. And in the episode 8 promo Miles is talking about the needle mark in his neck. Never in 8 seasons has that EVER came up. Why now??? Dexter should die protecting Harrison, maybe jumping in front of Kurts rifle as the cops close in on Kurt for taking Harrison. They can’t expose Dexter.

I know you dismissed it, but I think you may have nailed it by saying Harrison being an imposter the whole time. The story of Kurt the serial killer in Iron Lake goes national, and at the same time it breaks that Dexter Morgan is still alive. Seeing this the real Harrison along with Hannah (still alive) show up! Maybe by this time the imposter Harrison has killed someone now fitting Dexter’s code. So he kills him. And the real Harrison is a well adjusted great kid. Super unlikely of course, but THAT would be a huge twist

With a new season, 10 in 2022 and beyond. Dexter New blood should not end yet with this one extra series, number 9 with only 10 episodes in it. May America's favorite serial killer live on. One more thing I might add as I'm not one of the people that were dissatisfied with the way Dexter ended, or we would not be getting to watch America's favorite serial killer in action again. Also heard a little buzz, don't know if it's true or not, that season 9 will not be the last season of Dexter, so hopefully it might not be over yet. But it is looking that way, the way things are going anything possible, we're here aren't we.

  • @ryancummings5295

I thought the answer was in the title "new blood". A passing of the torch with dexter sacrificing himself for his son or something like that. He's already shown previously his ability to take on and work with others in the past. And redemption is a human condition that works well in the storyline. Redemption is related to revenge but not necessarily vengenance.

      Spoiler alert!
I think that Molly cannot investigate anything further bc she has been already murdered by Kurt which had happened after he stalked her, while she was waiting outside the restaurant/bar (ep7). That explains her disapparance from episode 8 and prob her death will become public in ep9. Angela will have flashbacks due her traumatic expierence with Iris and she let Dexter do what he has to do bc after ep 8 it became inevitable that she knows Dexters tribe to kill. As I stated in my first comment, i think, that Kurt will be the first kill of Dexter and Harrison since Dexter wants to teach him the code (final scene ep8). Nevertheless, I am already looking forward to ep9 like a little child :D

They rushed it so much, it needed another season at least.
After years of Dexter being meticulous he ends up in a back end town and makes silly mistakes and gets caught by a cop in the middle of a quiet town...
The scene where he asked her to turn the camera off was weird...
Dexter suddenly has a big epiphany that he is a bad guy after his son makes one comment and decided it's a good idea to shoot him and it was a bit cliche and very abrupt with his inner feelings of love for the first time with his son wanting to kill him...
He breaks his code when killing Logan/an innocent for no reason because he needed to see his son who wasn't in any danger. They really wanted to pivot quick on Dexters character ey with this one, at this point I started to lose it and was like, what is happening right now, this is all going to shit...
Batista runs off with his folder never to be seen again....
Dexter could have pinned this on Kurt as Dexter's character is smart enough and there was no conclusive evidence against him which led to the attack in jail to be so random and out of character...
The scene with Logan eating a burger with Harrosin and making some farewell supportive comment to make the audience feel something for Logan. This set up the attack in the jail cell with the death, to get people to be shocked about it as he was a 'good guy' which then prompted Harrison to go against his father as he broke his own code and suddenly he's just like every other killer. This was very predictable and the main rushed sequence.
"It's one of the reasons I chose to come to this town, good people" - proceeds to kill everyone for no reason.
I get what they tried to do in setting up Harrison to become the new dexter, but how they got there made no sense and broke characters.
Everything that happened in the last half an hour didn't feel like it was part of the previous 9 episodes.
Bring Dexter back for another season!

I want him to realize that he can take a different path than what Harry taught him. If he actually dealt with his feelings in a healthy way, he wouldn’t have the dark passenger.
