    Love it or hate it they gave us an ending. I was a little surprised that they stuck to their guns and did what they came back to do. They really wrote Dexter's final chapter. I had a good time covering the season, thanks for watching!

      We can accept the ending if it makes sense. What I found most off is that Dexter doesn't need to kill Logan. It is just not like him. I wish there should be an additional episode when Dex and Angel reunite. I believe that the Miami Dex will make much more effort to get away with this.

      @@saadali771 the story was making sense until it wasn't. I mean they should've released him and then killed him probably through angela because even when Doakes was gonna kill him he was thinking about other ways, but now he only wants to kill, and about the end, Harrison's killing dexter because he thinks dexter feeds his dark passenger doesn't justify his own hurting of a fat lad at school.

  • @lalt1987

    Angela's evidence was weak and we never got to see Batistas evidence. This show needed at least 2 more episodes. Batista needed to confront Dext with his evidence and maybe then he could kill Logan out of desperation. But the evidence the show was weak and Dex knew it

  • @VirtualBilly
    @VirtualBilly 2 ปีที่แล้ว +202

    When Chief Bishop was questioning him, Dexter should have said, “some trucker gave that screw to Harrison to give to me. I didn’t even know why.” She could have verified that by questioning Harrison, and her weak reasons for thinking she could charge Dexter with Matt’s murder would’ve fallen through.

      She would have still questioned why Kurt would try to set Dexter up, if not because Dexter killed his son. Either way, the evidence that he killed Matt was already going to fall through, but she was already building a much stronger case that he was the Bay harbor Butcher, so the end result would have been the same

      He couldn't prove that though and it doesn't really matter, she knew her case was weak on the Matt murder. That's why she called Batista, they had a really solid case that he was the butcher and that's even before Batistia came in with his Laguerta file.

    • @roseyp7047
      @roseyp7047 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@SheevTalks She built a strong case that he was the bay harbor butcher based off a few searches on the police data base that showed the bay harbor butcher’s victims with a wheel mark on their next just like the drug dealer and the fact that Dexter purchased ketamine for his goat which happed to be in the drug dealer’s system? Oh and Batista’s 15 yr old case files that he himself referred to as “crazy theories” C’mon, that’s enough to raise suspicion within the police force and with those who know him, not enough for a jury to convict him. I don’t even think it would be enough to go to trial. I get where they were trying to go but they lost me when Dexter ( completely unprovoked and out of character) kills Logan and obviously what happens after that is just absurd.

  • @kevj9589
    @kevj9589 2 ปีที่แล้ว +216

    The finale ruined the whole season. There were plot holes all over the place. needle marks wouldn't have stayed there so long. ketamine wasn't used for BHB killings. All of a sudden Harrison is blaming Dexter for Rita's and Deb's death? Dex had sent Rita on vacay to get her out of the way. Not his fault the dummy returned cause she forgot something. He lost the urge to kill when with Hannah so left the bad guy tied up for Deb. It's his fault cause he didn't kill the guy? Why did Batista seem so angry hearing Dex is alive? He always liked him and was always a clueless dummy.
    Harrison goes from "I always feel like I want to hurt people" to "I just want to be normal"? Really? After slashing a nerd with a razor, nearly killing him, and making up a BS story how he attacked him and was going to kill so many other kids? What kind of BS is that? Then he embraces Dexter, crying about that was the connection he was looking for and why he looked for him and then shoots him without pause and doesn't even feel bad about it. Meanwhile they have Dexter saying "I have never felt love til now" to himself? WTF? He loved his sister. He loved his wife. He loved Lumen. He was crazy in love with Hannah to the point she was his cure.
    Then this PC who never thought to track Kurt, didn't even know about his cabin til Dex showed her, and didn't have a friggin clue about 25 years of murder happening under her nose, figure it all out about Dexter based on some screws and needle marks? Oh brother. Didn't even look like Dex snapped Logan's neck. Logan just drops dead after firing his gun. The real Dex wouldn't have killed him anyway. He would have left him unconscious with his signature choke sleeper hold and locked him up in the cell to make his getaway. Lazy writing that created a lot of hype just to steer people away from the ridiculously predictable ending.

    - has abandonment issues
    - has dark tendencies
    - tries to kill another kid
    - feels lonely in the world
    - realises dad has the same dark tendencies
    - realises dad's the only one who understands him
    - realises he's not alone in the world
    - feels happy for once in his life
    - SUDDENLY TURNS into SAINT HARRISON and kills dad out of a sense of justice.

    I watched the finale and even cried while watching, but in the end I guess I’m not totally happy about it. I understand Dexter’s death, I understand Harison is not joining him to be a serial killer, instead he realizes how sick this whole thing was. I get it. But I can’t accept that the man who didn’t even killed Doakes was just killed Logan in a heartbeat. The man who found him way out from Lundy and lots of other smart detectives who has much more evidence against him, just got caught for a google search. And Batista, who always believed in Dexter, was like, “Dexter is alive? Then he must be a serial killer! I grab his file which is at least 15 years old but somehow still just under my hand and go to a woman I just met and know nothing about” I agree with people who thinks there should be 12 episodes so we could see Dexter x Angel reunion, people reacting BHB reveal, people reacting Kurt’s room reveal, and maybe people argueing whether Dexter was a hero or was a monster, just like we do for like 10+ years. This finale was NOT THAT BAD but in the end it’s rushed and missing some important detail.

Really the letter reads as if he made a detour just to get some pointers from Dexter(the most prolific serial killer ever) and then kill him, so that he himself won't get caught in the future.

    We had Dexter back for about 2 months and for that I’m happy. Dexter was an awesome distraction from pandemic woes. Thank you Michael C Hall for another amazing performance. Clancy Brown was great too. I was ok with the first ending and Hannah’s letter at the end of this season reiterates the sacrifice Dexter made when he decided to leave Harrison. He thought he wouldn’t survive the hurricane, but he did and he lived every day carrying the heavy weight of his actions. Im sure Dexter would take the two to three weeks he had with Harrison in new blood even if he knew he would die. He would do anything to ensure his son’s safety. I know he went off code at the end but with a caged animal backed up into a corner, there is no code at that point but survival. Time to watch Six Feet Under on DVD. I got emotional at both finales, since it’s during both that we see empathy and the sacrifice Dexter makes for his son’s welfare.I really do feel like I’m mourning a loved one. RIP Dexter Morgan.

      Modern day writers seem to think that the best TV is shocking, unexpected turns. It is pretty evident to me that they went over budget so they had to wrap the season up in 10 episodes rather than the 12 episode seasons that every single season, one through eight had. For sure they initially intended to reveal all of the dead missing girls to Chief Bishop and that was going to be Dexter's ticket to freedom because they spent the entire season letting us know she has been searching for these missing girls her entire career and how important it was to her. This is why she seemed way out of character in the final episode.
      I need to sit on this one a bit more and think it through, but it seems they short us 2 episodes and since it was a series ending finale, it just doesn't feel right.

    They screwed an amazing season with this finale. Dexter has never directly killed any innocent like he killed Logan… and there was no need to do that. But especially, it’s really annoying how Angela has failed to catch a serial killer in her own town for 25 years, having dozens of girls dissappeared after being seen for last time in Iron Lake, but somehow she is able to discover the truth about Dexter. Also very annoying how she focuses on Dexter after finding out Iris was murdered by Kurt but couldn’t catch him. Like seriously?

    The "open your eyes and look at what you've done" line was a great catch and amazing callback to the first episode and made me like the ending so much more. Dexter always said it was important that his victims see why they've ended up on his table, and when Harrison said that to him he realized that it was his time to go. I'm not sure how I feel about Dexter's decision to kill Logan, since even if Harrison agreed to go with him, they would have been on the run with a nationwide manhunt pursuing. They certainly wouldn't have been able to continue living out the code like Dexter was hoping for at the beginning of the episode. And although I think it's possible he could have beaten the charges of being the Bay Harbor Butcher, it would be super difficult for him and his son to continue killing after standing trial in such a high-profile case. It seems like Dexter was freaked out by the idea of being confronted by the life he left behind, so escaping was the best option. I guess in the end it shows that Dexter was capable of feeling and expressing real love, but that he was also still a monster who loved to kill without mercy, whether they deserved it or not. And that's why Harrison had to do what he did. A very tragic but fitting conclusion. Damn I'm gonna miss Dexter. Michael C. Hall is such an incredible actor. Seeing Dexter and Batista go back and forth would have been a real treat.

    I'm literally so disappointed... Episode 9 was amazing and I literally didn't even think that they could ruin all of this with the last episode which was supposed to be...Idk, a good one?! I didn't hate or love the ending of season 8, I just took it for what it was but this one...This one really made me mad. You're telling me that Angela, a little cop from a city forgotten by the world put everything into pieces in just some days or weeks? She wasn't capable to solve any case and she solved the biggest case from Miami? This whole thing was bad written. Dexter lived in Miami for so many years, was a serial killer there and never got caught even tho some people suspected him, they did it after YEARS of knowing him. Laguerta trying to figure out if Dexter is the Bay Harbour Butcher was waaaaay better than Angela doing it. Not to mention the fact that Angel just got along with what Angela said, not even questioning it, just went along with everything when he knew Dexter for so many years!! Harrison was such a hypocrite, he nearly killed that boy and blamed everything on him to be a hero, wanted to hurt other people and then after hearing what Dexter did he just chose to kill him? Like, I get that Dexter didn't want that for his child, he chose to leave him with Hannah (which reminds me, We never even found for real what happened to her, just went along with that Harrison said but at this point, I just think he killer her and lied.) to have a better life and now Harrison blames him for that when he wasn't even happy to know his dad better? Like c'mon you could've just idk, never came in the first place. The actors did a great job like always but this whole ending is just pissing me off so bad.

Still wondering, where Angela came from and how she got to Harrison and Dexter so fast. Olsen a non factor. And Angela was still just fishing about the bay harbour butcher case. They tried to do 2 things with this ending:
    1) Harrison pointing a gun at Dexter is a callback to Debra doing the same, except that one time Debra let him go and that cause a lot of people, including her, to die. Which means they are tying to say Harrison was gonna die eventually aswell. And they did a horrible job stating all of what I just said, because I had to dig up an episode from almost 14 years ago to make a connection.
    2) They tried making this into a Breaking Bad ending, the difference is Walter White went out by his own hand and means while redeeming himself a tiny little bit. They did Dexter dirty with all this, making him seem like a total junkie.

I was satisfied with the finale, even if the whole thing kicked into high gear too late in the series (ep9). Sad we didn't get the Batista-Dexter reunion/interrogation scene. It's a very beautiful and heart warming story because we watch this young boy who because of his trauma develops an addiction for violence so we sympathize with him in that regard but we question whether or not he actually has the capacity to feel real human connection with himself and others and it turns out in the end that he does.

We needed a Batista vs Dexter confrontation. Batista was just brought in for fan service, when he should have had a much better role. David Zayas is a fantastic actor, and I can just imagine how he would react to learning the truth from Dexter. I would have also liked for Harrison to maybe shoot Dexter in the leg and just turn him in. This ending STILL makes him a killer. Sure, he doesn't have his Dad's dark passenger but this is surely gonna mess him up, if he isn't already.
    I felt the first 40 mins of the finale were really great. There was some great tension all around. Killing Logan was also a ballsy move, ones I feel weren't made enough in even the original series( example Doakes getting killed by Lila).
    Think they needed one more episode at least, or maybe 30 more mins...and this could have been an all time classic instead of something that polarizes fans again. This is where pacing comes into the picture!
    I just hope that the announcement tomorrow is around an epilogue type episode rather than some Harrison spinoff. Honestly, I just want Harrison to lead a normal life and I don't want Dexter to be reduced to a Riverdale like teen drama.

      @Regitron3000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with the idea of needing one more episode to let the plot breathe a bit. Back half of the episode felt truncated and contrived plot wise to get the final ending.
      While I liked the idea of Dexter getting so desperate to reunite with Harrison that he'd kill innocent people to do it, I wish the situation in the episode was that dire. It really didn't feel like it, since they had just found Kurt's house with evidence that Kurt left in a hurry and was the one behind the arson, as well as Angela about to discover Kurt's trophy bunker.
      A Dexter/Bautista reunion would have been great. Bautista was like the last one of the original Miami Homicide team (aside from Masuka) that never suspected Dexter. There was an inkling of suspicion from him in the original finale, but to finally confront Dexter would have been a cool scene.

    What I got out of the end ALSO was that Dexter was becoming more and more (evolving into) Harrison’s own “dark passenger.” Notice also at the end that Dexter was dressed in black. Harrison told Dexter that he just wanted to be normal. I think it was then Dexter realized that in order for Harrison to live and be normal. The dark passenger is like a parasite. It needs a host. Dexter also was becoming aware that HE needed Harrison in order become the next phoenix from the flame….igniting from Dexter to Harrison. Dexter realized that the flame, the dark passenger, needed snuffed out. Harrison was tainted enough by him. I truly believed that Dexter realized this at the end and encouraged Harrison to end it….by killing him. Killing Dexter and the dark passenger. Dexter didn’t want to become the dark passenger, like a parasite, to live off Harrison. In order for Harrison to live and be normal, the parasite must be killed….even if it meant killing the host itself (Dexter).

      I think the ending was bad, Harrison could have killed many people on the way to find dexter which they subtlety hint at and tried to slash his only friend to death and broke that kids arm before he knew anything about dexters truth, and when he finally learned he was happy because he knew his dad left him for a reason trying to protect him and that he wasn’t going through his urges alone and that he always loved him, plus he was a serious accomplice watching dexter saw up Kurt into pieces and was gruesome but he was totally fine, they made it seem like the duo was going to spring back into action which is what I would’ve preferred to see instead of dexter having no other choice but to kill the coach because he wouldn’t cooperate and Harrison suddenly flops maybe it was because the coach was like a second dad and then somehow decides he has to die just because of that not even let him go just killed him, they were literally about to leave the brand new life he had and he was fine, only when the coach was the victim did he turn, even though he had his own victims before knowing dexters and then he drives off into the sunset like some hero as if his dark passenger is gone when it’s not and he had just killed his dad of all people, I think you’re right about dexter using him as an excuse to be himself again but he also wanted what was best for Harrison and if he really had a dark passenger which he does because I think attempted murder qualifies then he really would have been better off with dexter because he likely would have committed suicide in prison or gotten the death sentence before killing innocent people that he already attempted to do otherwise

I remember when the Trinity Killer was introduced and when they showed his bathtub kill at the end of the episode, I was absolutely horrified. It kept me hooked to the series and as bad as Arthur was, he was truly worthy of being Dexters opponent. Same with how Travis was able to trick Dexter or even Oliver for that matter (although luck just worked in his favour). Kurt had an okayish back story and they just failed to implement it. Don't really see the point in reviving a series and completely abandoning the characters and setting that helped define it just to essentially kill the lead character off because? He was a killer who deserved to die? Maybe, but why glorify and allow us to root for him in the first place? Say what you will about the Sopranos, but it ended in a way that, even if it was framed in a way to hint at Tony's death, it was never shown and left (even to this day) to the audience to decide. And it's still talked about to this day. When I hear "Don't Stop Believin'" I will always think of that final scene. The song Harrison is listening to as he drives away from Iron Lake? Already forgot it. He drives away smiling, only minutes after killing his dad, which puzzles me considering it's primarily the death of Logan that set Harrison off. A death that wasn't even that apparent to me initially. Probably because Dexter is more than capable of knocking someone out as opposed to uncharacteristically executing an innocent police officer because the plot demands it. Just like giving Harrison a rifle when it's the last gift Dexter would give to the son he compares to himself. This is just another plot convenience this show employed just to get to the finale. Too bad because I seem to have been more satisfied with him faking his death. At least it was in Miami and involved the original cast besides 2 short cameos from Batista and the memory of Deb. Even Harry was sidelined. I don't think any ending would've been perfect but to kill him off in such an unsatisfactory way?

    “Look at what you have done” exactly what dexter says in the pilot. They had to kill him off to end it and no season 2 it was the Right call, I knew Harrison would do it

      is his catch phrase . he than has a flash back with the people he killed and realised he is the same as the people he tried to stop and needed to get rid of himself. it was pretty smart : "i like to tell them to look at his victims"

    I'm just going to say it: I prefer the original end. This ending isn't...unexpected or I don't necessarily even dislike it but goodness the way we got here sure was rough.

    Sloppy and lazy writing. Let me make sure I got this right…Kurt is set free even though they have his DNA but Dexter is cuffed, read his rights and jailed based on a hunch and circumstantial evidence?
