This is my problem with a lot of Shounen Jump series. You can tell they're all trying to follow the same formula set by Dragonball 30+ years ago. Maybe the individual creators do have passion/soul but you can tell the corporation still wants them to shape their stories in a way that fits the mold and sells well
Literally the only new series that follows a different formula that I know of is world trigger. It’s not a derivative of the shonen formula but rather the kamen rider sentai formula.

Rinse and Repeat because people like him are too stupid to see how lame and shallow Modern Anime has become inspite of its imagination.

I'm anime only for Oshi no Ko but I think it would have been far better if Ai's murderer was actually dead and the show focused more on Aqua finding a reason to live while also protecting Ruby from the entertainment industry. The show was at its best when it focused on the characters and their personal struggles while dealing with the darker aspects of the entertainment industry. It would keep the show a bit more niche but I think the story would have been far better for it.

What if they’re both (viewer/story) “soulless”? I thought the “ending” of MHA was soulless and unfulfilling even though I realized the plot had gone down the drain long before the “ending”. It doesn’t even feel like an ending, it feels like sequel bait (if you look at the hints of “unresolved” plot and “don’t you want to see them as pro heroes” tease). Does that make me soulless or is both me and the “story” soulless?
As someone who used to be a “fanboy” (I liked it a lot) at some point during the story I saw the “quality” of the plot plummet mid story (S3/S4) almost like the author ran out of ideas and gave up on “trying” to tell a coherent story. The ending was obviously rushed because it seems like the author didn’t put much thought/effort in it. The characters are just so empty of meaning it’s like they’re robots.
Every single angle of them being in a romance is wrong (twins who grew up together in this life, a 30-something doctor and a 10-year-old cancer patient in their previous lives) and the author STILL teased a relationship between the two. I've read less tasteless stuff in guro and Comic LO doujins.
That one person's just an example. There was a lot of weeping and gnashing of teeth in the Oshi no Ko Twitter when the ending came out. Same thing with Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Gotoubun no Hanayome... hell, maybe even One Piece in the future.
All we can do now is pray that the anime adaptation will deliver something better. With all the backlash the manga ending got, it would be reasonable for them to make an anime original ending for Oshi No Ko. Hopefully the same thing happens with MHA and JJK as well.

They should only be made for series that actually need them, and Oshi No Ko is definitely one of them. There is also a huge difference between hoping and coping.
Shingeki No Kyijin got the same controversial Ending, and MHA Horikoshi did more chapters in the manga to satisfy the fans, but you will have the same ending in anime. Bleach, besides having more bankai Goddamit, has the same plot, and more likely, it will have the same convoluted ending. JJK is more likely to follow the manga with more Sakuga. Why do you expect the Anime adaptation to get a different ending, when it's safer for the studio to adapt the shitty ending from the manga instead of taking the blame for doing their own shitty ending?

The difference between soul and soulless comes down to whether the story is an empty husk made without the personal passions of the author in mind - and of course whether said creator has something to show or say with it. FF7 and its Remake Trilogy are a good example of soul vs soulless: one was the result of a man pouring his soul into a meticulously crafted story while the other was a cheap corporate cash grab that was made according to the mandates of the publishers. Of course, newer generations won't understand since it was mostly millennials (and not many of them, I should add) that have actually played the original game all the way through (let alone play it at all).

I think your over exaggerating. The ending was fine. Not the best, but still decent. Same with the characters. MHA is far from soulless.
