yes! I have the third pencil she showed and it works sooo well. The only thing I’m sad about is the lack of pressure sensitivity, but other than that everything works perfectly the way I need it to and it’s only 30$! Also she mentioned dropping it and I will say I’ve dropped it a few times off the table and it’s fine.
When the pen behaves different because of the angle you hold it, that is actually called tilt support. Pressure sensitivity is just if it gets thicker when you adjust more pressure ✨
Pressure sensitivity works based on the brush settings. It may get thicker when you oress, but it could also get DARKER, like pushing harder on a real pencil on paper. That is the #1 most important feature for any digital drawing styluses... Without pressure sensitivity, they are completely useless for drawing. Tilt is "ok" but i VERY rarely use it.. i shade ALOT more with pressure than with tilting...
For the 2nd to last pen: Those pens were made before apple pencils and smart styluses were a thing. I bought one a looong time ago and it was one of the best drawing pens. I still have mine and absolutely love.
For the hand palm rejection, you can buy a drawing glove. It’s basically a glove that covers the part of your hand that touches the screen along with your pinkie so you don’t get palm rejection problem.
Or… you buy what you think is a pair of white cotton gloves but turns out to be 100 gloves, so you cut them up to make the palm protector and give them out to all your friends at art school! ❤
Seriously, thank you for taking time to create such an in-depth look at these pencils. I appreciate the perfect balance of information without it dragging into a super long video. And your slo-mo demos of the lag are brilliant. I learned a lot, even some new terms like Palm Rejection. What term!
The third pen is what I have and it’s been working for over a year and I barely have to replace the tips definitely recommend for people who are on a budget, but won’t recommend for any artist. It’s super durable tho!
@@aarongeorge3491I’m not sure how long the apple pen lasts for comparison but mine averages between 3-4 days with constant use, it takes about 40ish minutes to fully charge
I have the two-sided pen with mesh and disc tip and use it on Android. The disc tip I liked at first since it has a precise point and good visibility from overhead, but it became dirty within a few days and started to skid a little bit. The mesh tip on the other hand has been a trooper and I discovered that it has a secret advantage for sketching: you can use a horizontal grip with it and still get good registration. This is great for artists since the horizontal grip lets you stay loose, see what you're doing and not grip it too hard. I now sketch on my phone and then bring it to the computer with a Wacom tablet to ink; Wacom pens don't do sketching nearly as well, they rely on having the nib be pushed in.
For the last two styluses, they require an artist glove for hand palm rejection ( can also be used for studying not just for drawing ) and also it doesn’t connect by Bluetooth or by a button or something, they use the electricity since our hands do sorta conduct electricity(I don’t know how to say it)but a small amount of it and that’s how capacitive screens work, some of them just require touching It so just using a pen and putting pressure on a screen would work for it.
I bought the JamJake pencil a while ago and I actually really like it! It’s super cheap so you’re not gonna miss out on a whole lot of money if you hate it, but I like it. Then again I’ve never tried an actual Apple Pencil so I have nothing to compare it to lol Edit: One drawback to it that I’ve noticed is the on button is very sensitive to anything touching it, and I’m not sure why but my pencil turns on/off with only one tap, not two. So I accidentally turn it on/off all the time when I’m in the middle of working on something.
for some reason, my friends 2nd gen apple pencil writes even without touching the screen. it starts writing wehn elevating it above the screen a little. its weird, have you experienced that? btw she uses the ipad air with it edit: the reason for that is a scratch in the tip. she tried it from every side without scratches, and that weird thing did not happen. only from the scratch. so people with that problem, check ur tips, if there is any damage, replace teh tip
I recommend against the knockoffs. They have been a headache due to their unreliability. This is coming from a guy that used them for 4 months and burned through 2 of them in that time period. Both have failed me miserably. At times, they wouldnt write at certain angles so I have had to adjust and write in a weird position. They also skip at times, forcing me to erase and rewrite. I have burned through 8 nibs during those 4 months, which could have gotten me another knockoff pencil. I would just get an authentic or apple certified one. Less issues, for sure. I got a used crayon for under $40, which was a steal given how new they were in.
This was actually a great video. Last week for some reason my Apple Pencil just wouldn’t connect to my iPad and we tried so hard to get it back. (But I’m guessing it’s broken). Glad this video showed me on what else I could buy instead of wasting my money on another pencil 👍
Great timing. I spent 2 days looking for my apple pencil and was set to buy a new one when I found it under the bed. Sadly though for me I need the better drawing features of the apple pencil but for writing and note taking I think I'd buy the 30 dollar one for when I'm not drawing but taking notes for when the apple pencil is charging
I’m actually trying to find a different stylus to use with my current iPad Air 2 because my universal pen is now broken(lost disc nibs, broke one, I don’t like the mesh side) so this video really gave me some recommendations and a place as to where I can start looking for my perfect stylus. So thank you for this video!!
Back when I was looking for alternatives to the Apple Pencil, every video was "all of the alternatives are trash, except maybe the Logitech crayon (but not really). Just buy the Apple Pencil" and I did buy the Apple Pencil because I wanted it primarily for drawing. Still, I was left with the feeling that if I wanted it only for writing, the Apple Pencil was still the only good option. Thank you for offering good and cheaper options
After having used it and others for a while, I have come to the realization that the Apple Pencil is absolutely not overpriced. It’s such a good value and works incredibly well. For artists it is an amazing tool. Other stylus devices are good, but they always miss one thing like pressure or angle or something
I am getting the logitech crayon 🖍 for Eid. I am so happy. And thank you for making this video. You're so sweet. I haven't been able to select an Apple pencil alternative. But now I finally selected the logitech crayon 🖍. Thank you. It'll be coming today. I am excited.
I go to a Worcester county school district we use these pens, and I can confirm that the Logitech pencil is amazing for both left handed and right handed people. I’m left handed and I have a hard time finding pens that fit well in my hand (that could be just me tho) and it writes amazingly well, it’s a great pen honestly :)
I’m so happy I’m seeing this I plan on getting the new 10th gen iPad and after seeing it only works with the first gen apple pen (which I don’t like at all) seeing alternatives for a cheaper price is wonderful
This is so awesome for me because I have an iPad pen but not an Apple Pencil because it is so expensive and it has 0 hand-palm rejection which I absolutely LOATHE! I saw a pencil on her that I am in love with and I’m gonna see if I can find it in the store, if not I have no problem ordering it because I am really looking for an upgrade, and I might give my current one to my sister (if and) when she gets her iPad.
This is awesome! I recently gave my young niece, she's about 7, my old ipad just so she could use for her homework and school. I was afraid of purchasing a whole new pencil as my old apple pencil 1 broke, and I didn't want to purchase a $100 pencil that she might end up losing at school. The $30 seems like an awesome alternative for her as long as I give her a case so that it can last some time.
your penmanship is really good, I almost thought that was a handwriting app that would use its own font up until you used those other pens, Cool reviews of most the pens. I was wondering what pen to get if not just the apple pen. If only there was another manufacturer that would make it charge magnetically but maybe not touch sensitivity then I would really like it.
Hey there Emily, thanks for this really great video! I'm a Surface Pro User and I love how the writing through its pen feels, but the computer does not fit my needs anymore. While designing, I write a lot, so I was thinking to move to iPad with a pen. I have some questions for you: - Did you ever try Bamboo Fineline 3 for writing? If so, what about? - While writing with Apple Pencil, at a certain inclination of the pen, I felt a lot of friction (probably depends on how I keep the pencil while I write with palm on the screen - my hands are quite big, people say), and I'd like something with less friction (like Surface Pro's pen do). Do you feel the same while writing with Apple Pencil? How was the friction with the Logitech and JamJake? Do you have any other suggestions about how to reduce friction/resistance and increase "slipperiness"? Thank you!
Honestly I feel like the Apple Pencil is the best one and most compatible with Apple os. And you can for sure find it for cheaper online. I kinda wish I got an Apple Pencil instead of the crayon
Thanks for the reviews. I just got a new ipad and a Apple pencil 2nd Gen, it was quite interesting, but I thought I wanna buy a cheaper alternatives for the little ones, and your reviews help alot! Logitech and Jamjake seems to be a great alternative!

Hey! The Penoval is top tier, I only found one review that mentioned it. It has everything the Apple Pencil has, including pressure sensitivity, just not the double tap to erasure feature. And it's 36$!!!

I would say for artists the Apple Pencil is really the only option because of pen pressure. Why get an expensive tablet for art if you can't use the pressure sensitivity it supports
I recently wanted to buy an apple pencil usb-C, but I thought it didn’t have pressure sensitivity, so I might as well buy a replacement, so I chose the $9.9 YEBOS pen, which is great value for money!
I got the jamjake pen and I’ve been using it for like 4 months every day in school and I have to say that the quality is way better than i had expected for 30$ and it fell of the table a few times and still works so not bad at all.
So does it support the palm rejection or whatever? Like when you write is it okay for your palm to be in touch with the screen and your work wont be erased or do you have to have your wrist up slightly?
I have the third one and it has done me very well! I have been using it for about 2 months now and I love it! Super on budget too :) also where can I get a grip? :D
I'm gonna get an ipad for school in September and I gotta say, thanks a lot for the tutorial (even if I'm a bit late)! The jamjake looks great for only 30 bucks, definitely getting that one!
Actually emily you are so amazing I like your videos and every day I am being excited for the next video so plz do more videos because I love your channel🦋🌊💕
Honestly, I think I would buy the JamJake Stylus. If your an artist, it's kind of upsetting that there is no pressure sensitivity. I'm an artist too, but I'm not sure I really need pressure sensitivity. I was stuck between getting an iPad Air 5th generation, and a IPad 10th generation. But I think I would go for the 10th gen. Especially because I found an alternative pencil that works for it (it also works for iPad Air 4-5). I would get an iPad 10th gen over iPad Air because of its quality and ability to play high graphical games. I've heard it's also pretty good in editing. Everything I need already, so this alternative saved my day. But, if you happen to be an artist, and want high quality pen suitible for drawing, apple pencil 1st gen, or apple pencil 2nd gen, is good for you. I will stick with this one. I don't need pressure sensitivity or anything like that because, I'm not a expert artist. I could just switch out the size of brush stroke I want, I feel like it would be easier for someone like me. I feel like this pen is the greatest out of the options I'm struggling about.
Those pencil alternatives are great, but I’ve experienced a one problem while using one of those. When you take notes or draw something I always hear how the pencil “knocks the screen” ( I hope it makes sense to you), which is quite annoying for me as I can’t take a pencil with me to school… So, is there the same problem while using an Apple pen?
The sad thing is about all the good ones is that it only works with iPad 6th generation or up. I have a iPad 5th generation and I was going to buy the Logitech crayon but I double checked if it was compatible with my iPad by Googling it and it isn’t compatible. Is there a good quality stylus I could buy that supports my iPad?
Good job. You pointed out the important advantages of paying an extra $100, and clearly explained who might want or need those unique features. Thanks.
Hi Emilyy! Ur channel is very helpful and nice! keep it up! also, I was wondering where you got the apple pencil grip or case that covers the whole apple pencil but it has a big cut out where it says pencil with an apple, I rlly liked it bc I want to get an engraving so can you please tell me? Thank you!
My first pen was logical. After using it for a year, I switched to Yebos. Now I prefer Yebos pen. It works quickly and has long battery life, which allows me to focus on my work better. The most important thing is that the price is only $9.9.
@@aarongeorge3491 Yes and No, it is not terrible but it is not the Apple Pencil (If you know what I mean). For my birthday I got the Apple Pencil so I haven’t been using the JamJake but it is a good pencil that I recommend you try.
At 0:30 I thought you were writing with some kind of a helper from the app. Each sentence looks so beautiful and similar to the previous one that you can confuse it with "machine letters". Awesome stuff!
Thanks for the detailed rundown on these Apple Pencil alternatives! It's great to have options that won't break the bank. I'm leaning towards the Logitech Crayon based on your review, but before I decide, could you tell me if it works well with note-taking apps like Notability or OneNote? I use my iPad mainly for taking notes in lectures, so that's a crucial factor for me. Thanks again for the helpful video!

@@remiolanipekun5628 i think it is, yeah. i used it with a gen 3 ipad air, which is from 2019. The 9th gen ipad is from 2021
@@knightfuryproductions3134 Thank you so much ! I just plan on using it for taking notes so I think I’ll be fine
truly the only apple pencil alternative review you'll need for notetaking!
I’m definitely getting the JamJake Stylus its just so cheap for such a good pencil
I got it because I couldn’t afford the Apple Pencil
@Saba 🌿 it feels very good
@Saba 🌿 almost like the Apple Pencil
@Saba 🌿 it’s pretty good the only thing Is there’s no pressure sensitivity but that ok I’m not an artist lol other than that it’s pretty good.
@Saba 🌿 yw🖤✨
Hey! The Penoval is top tier, I only found one review that mentioned it. It has everything the Apple Pencil has, including pressure sensitivity, just not the double tap to erasure feature. And it's 36$!!!
Hii, do you happen to know if Scribble also work with that pen? 🥺
Thank you! So helpful, just what I was looking for ❤

Your Apple Pencil Alternative video aren't like others, this is so detail. Thank you!
yup thank u
I remember improvig my experience with one of those freebie style stylus things by attaching the rubber tipped pen cap to the blunt end of a metal crochet hook 🤣 like i kid you not it worked so much nicer. Was still a nightmare to work with, but the crochet hook made it a more reliable nightmare.
BRI YOUR HANDWRITING IS GODLY
I’ve never clicked on a video faster.
Your handwriting and how you digitally take your notes is so satisfying anyway I’ve been looking for Apple Pencil alternative that can turn off or go into sleep mode to preserve battery life when not in use
Thank you for this video, it was very helpful! 😄 What's your recommendation on the best apple pencil dupe for calligraphy (and pressure sensitivity)?
ahahah sadly there aren't any 😩 only the apple pencil can do pressure sensitivity with calligraphy that i know of
@@emilystudying No worries, I guess I'll just get the apple pencil. :) Do you know if there is any difference between the first and second generation? Thanks so much!

yea
i had the logitech in primary as we all had our own personal ipad and sometimes it did erase my work just as the free one does. however it was good quality but you did have to charge it a lot! i would recommend it and also keep in mind to charge it every night if you use it daily! :)
I would say for artists the Apple Pencil is really the only option because of pen pressure. Why get an expensive tablet for art if you can't use the pressure sensitivity it supports
Mm...true, but it's a bit of an exaggeration. (The price)
I recently wanted to buy an apple pencil usb-C, but I thought it didn’t have pressure sensitivity, so I might as well buy a replacement, so I chose the $9.9 YEBOS pen, which is great value for money!
Well done!!!
The best tablet pencil video out there. You earned a sub and a like. Keep up the great videos!
God bless you.
OMG YOUR CONTENT IS SOOO GOOD

thank you so much for the recommendations!
Although I am using the first generation Apple Pencil, thank you for this video it might help people who can’t afford to buy one of those these.
I am waiting for pen and marker haul review 😀😍
Thank you so much, this video has helped me a lot as I am a graphic design student and an artist.
Your calligraphy is gorgeous! What app do you use for that?
She’s using the app “good notes” :)
I just got the jam jake one and don’t regret it 😖💕
I got the jamjake pen and I’ve been using it for like 4 months every day in school and I have to say that the quality is way better than i had expected for 30$ and it fell of the table a few times and still works so not bad at all.
Do you know if it’s possible to use scribble with that pen? I can’t seem to make it work and I’m going a bit crazy 😭
It should work with that pen my iPad recognizes it as an Apple pencil so it should work
So does it support the palm rejection or whatever? Like when you write is it okay for your palm to be in touch with the screen and your work wont be erased or do you have to have your wrist up slightly?
@@susannemuller6493 okey thanks!! Than im gonna try to figure it out 🥺
Yes it supports plam rejection
I have the third one and it has done me very well! I have been using it for about 2 months now and I love it! Super on budget too :) also where can I get a grip? :D
I heard the battery life is poor is this true?
I'm gonna get an ipad for school in September and I gotta say, thanks a lot for the tutorial (even if I'm a bit late)! The jamjake looks great for only 30 bucks, definitely getting that one!
Actually emily you are so amazing I like your videos and every day I am being excited for the next video so plz do more videos because I love your channel🦋🌊💕
wow thank u lamar!
I feel like this pen is the greatest out of the options I'm struggling about.
rlly hope you see this but what apps did you use in this video like for the calligraphy and graph paper
Great job on the reviews! I’ve been on the fence about buying a stylus & did not want to pay over $100 for Apple Pencil. Appreciate this!
Bless you for this budget friendly video 🙌🏽
Hope you enjoyed it!

Those pencil alternatives are great, but I’ve experienced a one problem
while using one of those. When you take notes or draw something I always hear how the pencil “knocks the screen” ( I hope it makes sense to you), which is quite annoying for me as I can’t take a pencil with me to school… So, is there the same problem while using an Apple pen?
Yassss!!! I was actually just looking for an alternative!!
lemme just say you helped me sooo much with picking whih one and also im rlly jealous with your handwriting do you have a video on that!?!?
I’m using my diy stylist and it’s worth it ;)
Stylus me to I have it its made from tissues 😀
Mine is made from clay but it works nicely
But still want these (my dream)
The sad thing is about all the good ones is that it only works with iPad 6th generation or up. I have a iPad 5th generation and I was going to buy the Logitech crayon but I double checked if it was compatible with my iPad by Googling it and it isn’t compatible. Is there a good quality stylus I could buy that supports my iPad?
Omg thank to make this video 😭😭❤I really really like your video's🍬🍓
You're welcome 😊
Thank you!

Hi Emily so can I use the Jamjake pencil on the iPad 8
the last one i legit what I'm using while i wait to get my actual stylus lol
My first pen was logical. After using it for a year, I switched to Yebos. Now I prefer Yebos pen. It works quickly and has long battery life, which allows me to focus on my work better. The most important thing is that the price is only $9.9.
I also use YEBOS pen, which is very good!
Such a useful video, I opted for the JamJake and I Love it! Tysm this really helped me decide! ❤️

At 0:30 I thought you were writing with some kind of a helper from the app. Each sentence looks so beautiful and similar to the previous one that you can confuse it with "machine letters". Awesome stuff!
can you do a alphabet lettering tutorial for drop shadowing please?
Thanks for the detailed rundown on these Apple Pencil alternatives! It's great to have options that won't break the bank. I'm leaning towards the Logitech Crayon based on your review, but before I decide, could you tell me if it works well with note-taking apps like Notability or OneNote? I use my iPad mainly for taking notes in lectures, so that's a crucial factor for me. Thanks again for the helpful video!
My school made us buy the iPad and Apple Pencil :( it was at a super discounted price though!! 😂
What kind of school would force its students to buy an expensive device!?!?
@@laurenx3626 HAHA every school in Singapore (Secondary level, students age range 13 to 15) have to buy, its part of our national programme to get all students to have a device. The prices are a lot lower than market though :) but they are putting all sorts of controls on it as well

Hi, great video. With the apple mock pen: is there a way to manually change the pressure sensitivity either on the iPad or in a specific program application? I need it specifically for Procreate. Thanks!
which app do you use for the non-apple pen to work with?
