Awesome timing, and helpful video! Lighting is my next investment and looking for a good stand-in until I drop decent money on a high-end lighting setup
This came just as I was looking to buy a new light! Great info. Friendly suggestion for future videos: I really wanted to just see 3 side by side shots of the same image with each light. As much as we look at numbers and specs, I think what it comes down to for most of us is how it looks!
Who else is asking for lights for Xmas? 👀 Keep creating & being awesome! You're on the right path. You're making a difference in the world. May your day be filled with creativity, and serenity. 💗 Dr. Liz
I've literally been binging your LED/softbox light videos (the neewer and studiopro ones) to figure out the right one for me. This video couldn't have been posted at a more perfect time. Thanks so much!
I just bought some soft box lights and posted a video about it on my channel if you want to check it out. They were over $50 but under $100 from Amazon.
Ok so now I have no excuse for not getting my lighting together. Very helpful video. Affordable and user friendly. Thank you! Bi-color LED light it is!
I just bought some soft box lights and posted a video about it on my channel if you want to check it out. They were over $50 but under $100 from Amazon.
I bought 2 of these mountdog lights on black Friday and cyber monday for about $35 each. Haven't received them yet because I'm in Jamaica. But now I'm glad I made this choice. Cant wait to get them! 😊
BRO!!!!! Great Content!!!! I love that you guys are so knowledgable, BUT YET.... you talk to us and NOT down to us beginners! Love that! And you all come across like you TRULY give a shit about your viewers. Keep up the good work... and I'll keep watching & supporting! Salute!!
I was just looking up the COB lights on Amazon from one of your other videos and I saw the corn light. Then a little bit later you posted this with a corn light! Lol, you always seem to post at the perfect time! 😂
I literally just bought the CBO/corn light after watching a studio setup from Omar! kind of crushed to not have the best tech but that will always happen. As soon as you get the newest thing they come out with an even better one. Great video.
Thanks for this! Been using a typical cheap 6ft reading light with white fabric pieces over the 2 bulb cones... not perfect lighting by any means... been wanting to up my game... this is a great suggestion... the adjustability seals the deal for sure ... but the space they use up is the one concern... any other mounting suggestions other than the tripod stand?
Wow thanks for the great advice. #Go VRA FAM. Bought Mount Dog BiColor.... It was love at first sight. When you are a one man operation LIGHTING can be a real pain. TOTALLY amazed at how easy this box is and how good it looks. Another nice feature you don't even mention is that it is lighter than many light boxes too. Comes with travel case, (although mounted permanently in office/studio), I have mine clamped to a bookshelf. Sun from the window, this light on the opposite side, along with hair light and we are good to go. With this light I can match the temperature of the sun from the time of the day perfectly so no more half way line on the face. ;) Thanks for the link.
I use this setup with a 4 bulb head. two switches. I have two bulbs in one and one in another. This gives me three light options from one source for like 30 bucks. crazy good light and virtually free. I did get the softbox and light socket as part of a moving sale for 50% off. but it works great. I have it on a vertical mic stand and it is super compact that way. My lights, are .... costco led regular bulbs... grey card and custom white balance makes it all good.
Hey there. I’m looking for budget video lighting for filming my family band. We’re 3 or 4 musicians and need to light up a 3x9 ft area. Do you think one of these would suffice or should we get 2 ?
Thank you guys so much for this video. I just started my channel a few weeks ago. And was looking at lights this past weekend. And came across this one but could find any decent reviews on youtube. I now just ordered it through your link. 👍👍👍
@@AlistairBrugsch You're asking if we get it? Did you actually read tushygalore's post? It spells out "the corn cob shape is coincidental". Or maybe you think we didn't notice that "corn cob" has the word "cob" in it, which is spelled the same as the acronym "COB"?
Great video, was looking to buy some soft box lighting for my videos as currently all I have is a simple desk lamp. Which lights have you guys bought and how has it held up over time? Thanks!
I just bought some soft box lights and posted a video about it on my channel if you want to check it out. They were over $50 but under $100 from Amazon.
I'm using softbox lights from Andoer. They straight forward to use however they have some downsides: 1) They're difficult to store and take up space 2) there is no way to control brightness.
I got a set of two softboxes with led bulb (plus two spare bulbs) for £35 off ebay UK. Not dimmable (and not the brightest but they're fine for me, especially not being dimmable they'd probably be too bright otherwise) and they do take up a lot of space but for the money I have no real complaints.
i have searched for just the bi colour LED bulb but can not even find the whole kit in the UK. please can you help with this as I already have many softboxes and stands ?
i have the softbox with the twe tone lamp that you can adjust but even if i put it a 45 degrees it always makes the side of my face so white...do you have any advice?
Its crazy because just bought some soft box lights & just posted a video about it. They were a little over $50 but under $100. I was afraid of if I bought them too cheap they would fall apart on me.
Hey Sean I am looking at eventually getting a Canon G7X mark ii or iii i don’t know yet. I want to be able to live stream on elgato and obs studio. My question is does either model have an HDMI output and if so how do I connect it to those different softwares? If I can’t then how do it I do it?
I've been wanting to get lighting like this for some time but thought that I would have to spend a lot of money in order to get good quality. I'm using a regular lamp and lightbulb for lighting and my only mic is from my webcam which sucks. The lamp sits about 3 feet above the chair I sit in because I sit in a sofa type chair which is lower than the desk that my keyboard, mouse, and two monitors sit on. I hope to be able to get a normal computer chair soon so that I can adjust the height as well as a microphone and boom arm so that my voice can be heard better because the webcam mic is too far from where I sit. The lights you reviewed are all nice and any one of them would help me make nicer looking videos.
I would like to see their wattage if they are the same, because if not then it is not a fair comparison? and of course, the dimmable bulb has the advantage, but was it cheaper than the two?

NOW? I am using normal lamps and sunlight, lol. But that is a good light you suggested so it's on my Amazon wish list.
Nice!!!!!! You guys have been keeping on my game.
None of the Lights available atm ....

Exactly!
You're awesome too GYGC!
Lighting is important for getting high-quality videos. I always use them. Btw, I never buy expensive lights because the result is the same.
Then you have no idea about why they're expensive. Just google High CRI lights film making.

I have the Mount Dog and love it! Best value out there!
Was able to use some affiliate money to pick up the Godox SL 60W and got the 47" dome soft box. Changed everything about how my videos look!
Literally just wondering what some good cheap lighting solutions might be. Thanks for living in my 🧠 lol⚡️

The moment you spoke about the settings on the Bi-Color light, I knew that would be the one I’d go for too

Do a challenge using mid range phones with proper lightings. Let us see how it looks.

Great job.
What about the 60hz cycling from fluorescent interacting with camera... I has problems with this in the past.
I could probably use one of these for my small indoor studio which is a small part of my filming for TH-cam.

I’m so excited that the bi-color mount dog won! I ordered it last week and it comes in Thursday! Excited for my better quality videos
how is it?
Bought it, love it.
I need to work on my lighting for sure
Thank you, It is very useful info. I am getting the LED but it's unavailable at the moment

Hey could you do a video on a portable small Soft Box? Or a DIY one?
Thank you guys so much for this video. I just started my channel a few weeks ago. And was looking at lights this past weekend. And came across this one but could find any decent reviews on youtube. I now just ordered it through your link. 👍👍👍
*Hi there* do you have to worry about flicker with the Bi-colour please?
I’ll think about that soft box winner! Been using window light for the most part.
I use the bulb light there are not very good but good enough, with the price i can't complain i get great results.
My main light is a Sokani X60 V2 with a 80cm Godox soft. I use Pixel RGB Led Photography Lighting Panels on stands for secondary lights.
When did they start calling those bulbs “Corn Lights”?
That’s a C.O.B. bulb, stands for “chip on board” , the corn cob shape is coincidental.
Hahaha yeah, you beat me to it.
That light actually is made up of a bunch of tiny LED lights it's hard to see in the video.
It's a corn COB. Geddit? Lol
@@ThinkMediaTV Right. Those "tiny LED lights" are the chips in Chip On Board (COB).

The #1 choice, Mountdog is out of stock on Amazon. What do you recommend in its place? Thanks!
thanks you bro

This kit only comes with one right??
I use 3 NEEWER 160 CN lights with the included diffuser. They are usually around 75% brightness.
I was looking for good cheap lighting til I get money to invest in a good and think media never fails with good tips and info ….thank you
Based off another Think Media video, I bought the Mountdog 95w 5500k kit of 2 lights for $59 from Amazon. So far, so good-especially for the price.
How this lights compare with COB lights about brightness?
I'm using softbox lights from Andoer. They straight forward to use however they have some downsides: 1) They're difficult to store and take up space 2) there is no way to control brightness.

God is good 👍

When you are looking at the video and you have the bulb one as your light 😁 time to upgrade ee
Can you swap types of lights in any of the stands? Or does each stand only take a specific type of bulb?
i have the softbox with the twe tone lamp that you can adjust but even if i put it a 45 degrees it always makes the side of my face so white...do you have any advice?
