Lilu I hesitate to tell you because I would not wish to be overly forward but you are a walker. I did my first big walk yesterday after the eyes were repaired as it were. These things knock your confidence however ridiculous that might sound. It was a delight. I sat on a fallen branch and watched busy insects scurry by which may seem weird but I would not have been able to see them a week ago. It is life lilu and it is precious. We are both fortunate observers and participants. At the end of the day there are none so blind as those who will not see. I enjoy your videos very much. I walked today for the first time in ages, dovetailed neatly after a post cataract operation that restored my vision. We need two things to hike, legs, highly recommended, and vision. It was rather nice to walk past a postbox on the way to a London Park through which a river ran, and not mistake it for Santa Claus and think that Christmas comes earlier every year. Thank you for your own vision which has happily been a comfort through what has proved to be only a period of momentary blindness. I have appreciated it. I can read again without scrabbling like a mountebank. No gentleman would easily aspire to be such.
thanks for this I have been using the Night Cat tent which is a lanshan copy for over 18 months now - I too have made some mods mainly to give me more confidence that it would withstand bad weather. I have replaced 6 pegs with much longer ones. and the rams head at the front with a small carabiner I measured the pole set at the right height against my body so I don't need worry about it being correct when out in the wild
Excellent video Lilu { as usual } ! The bird you heard during the night has been identified below . correctly , as a Nightjar , a Summer visitor to the UK , and the sound is called "churring". Nightjars are ground nesting and sleep during the day. They usually begin churring at dusk before taking to the skies chasing their prey , usually moths . Miss Lilu I have a secret vice, not often advertised. I have always been a fan of boardgames. There madam I am unfortunately often found desolee. Some few years ago I played my old walking friend Charles at the overly unregarded Backpacks and Blisters. After the first round I was 35 points up, by the last we had drawn. Some judicious use of chocolate bars on his part had found me unduly wanting outside Keswick. I enjoy your posts. I can assure you madam that Keswick will not find me so indolent again. I am trying to make you laugh, why not. I am a jester, not a fool. As always. Try and pick up the boardgame, in the Lake District where it is set. I have walked off those hills 35 points behind and never caught up. Nick.
Lilu the funny noise you were hearing through the night was a nightjar. It’s great to hear them but it’s like having an alarm clock that’s broken and won’t turn off. We get a lot in east anglia in Thetford forest, thanks for another great video and congratulations on your subscribers milestone.
Great video as always. The noise you heard is actually a bird called a Nightjar, you were quite privileged to experience it. I’ll look forward to the next video, all the best😊.

Ha Ha. The pillows, have a valve in the middle, it is either open to deflate, or closed, to inflate. I only know this from bitter experience.... Yup, keep it simple. Good blog.....

Thanks! Scout goes into the mechanic today. Clutch replacement. I have a hire car loaned to me by another instructor thankfully.. It's been really stressful but hopefully things will be better this week. 🙏🏻
Congratulations on passing the 5000 subs mark. Here's to the next 5000 which I imagine will be reached very soon. Love your videos and this was no exception. Keep it up. By the way, and I apologise for being a bit forward, but you looked really cute at 25:00 / 26:00. Cheers..
Hi Lilu, the pillow you have has a little valve that you press, it lets you blow air in and stops it escaping while inflating, when you deflate the pillow you simply press the little valve button and it deflates easily, I think you had it depressed , so that’s why it was a pain to inflate, hope this is useful to you .
Great video Lilu, I’m watching from Tasmania, Australia and we are in our winter, so I’m missing camping. Thanks for sharing, I really enjoy your outdoor adventures.
Frogs . Yep I can hear the drunks make their way home down in the valleys miles away . Then airplanes flying over every hour and the traffic noise . Your not insulated from the noises you are normally insulated from in a house . Ear plugs work wonders .
Ms Lilu my apologies for perhaps over egging Liam Neeson in the original Taken. I felt pity when my neighbour, rendered by despair, was head butting my wall. It's a pity I am going to have to get that wall repainted. It's an old joke, we make them in face of sadness that we are unsure whether we can assist in. I am an old Shelter worker, we would have sold our soul to house somebody. It was at best a dubious currency. or exchange. Madam, my regards. I wish you well. I have no doubt that you will walk to places I have never seen or dreamt of.
I walked in the heat today, suitably hydrated and wearing an Arab headress that my late father had bought in Jerusalem in 1943. I knew I would get comments when I had a single malt in my local on returning. I remember something you said, the gist being that you get old enough to be secure in yourself. Some people sadly never do. We walk in strange terrain. There are far worse things lass. My best regards. Thank you for your videos.
Ms Lilu, I have recently redefined what Cherry-Garrard called The worst journey in the world. It is in fact when your neighbours involve you in their matrimonial dispute. No matter how far you hike or cunningly stealth camp it will look for you, it willf ind you, and it will kill you. Clearly, though I am an old Shelter worker ,I follow the Liam Neeson school of marriage counselling. They were skint, I gave them some money and told them to have an Indian meal, no more than one bottle of wine, and for Christ's sake ring me in the morning when office hours are open. I apologise for the language being at heart a gentleman, but sod this for a bunch of soldiers. As always with respect. I have always tried to love my fellow human beings. Sometimes madam it is not always easy.
Hi Lilu, Thank you for the insightful videos. Camping , and gadgets have always drawn me in. Your enthusiasm for both is a joy to watch. There are times when the audio volume is very quiet, could that be because you are not using a Lav Mic? Is there any chance you might list the equipment used? I have just added the Flextail pump to my basket. Top gadgets like this are always great to research. Many thanks, and safe camping. SL
I had hoped to walk to Rotherhithe where there is a small museum devoted to Bazalgette pere but it is too damned hot and the finger I had inadvertently sliced open and still dripping blood would lead me to being pursued by feral dogs. So a poem. I like you Miss's Lilu You're a caution You're a treat The Mufti of Jerusalem Would worship at your feet The Czar of all the Russias Would make you tea and toast But none the less It's just a guess I like you more than most. That's your poem. Why not. With thanks. I have nowt else to offer. Travel well. I have often found dreadful poetry speeds the pace. It might save your life one day. Xx
Great video as always. You need to press the button inside the pillow to stop the air coming out. You press it again when you want to deflate it. Keep up the great work
Haha yes I was being really stupid that night..I think the bagpipes made me daft. Lol iv used that pillow loads but the button had got jammed. Sorted it shortly after lol 😆
That was a great watch...! Crap about car☹️, but congrats on 5000+ subs...!🎉🎉🎉 So hope that this makes for a good or helpful comment...!😄 Ya got a much better pitch on the LS1 this time... Charles at Long Suffering Hiker has the best Lanshan set up vids imo & also check out Jason at Rambling On, he uses his LS1 loads, usually perfectly pitched... He's in Ireland & is always a great crack to watch & loves a cuppa T & biscuits...!😂 I've got the LS2 Standard with solid T-zip inner + footprint, but this year I grabbed a 3 season mesh inner, for the option in warmer weather & specifically so that I can see outside & still keep the bugs out tent...👍 Press the valve button IN on the Trekology pillow, will stop air escaping, but can still inflate it, then press button OUT to deflate it... Foil&foam mat would probably keep you warmer by having it on top of the UL80, instead of underneath it, although I take 2 & do both, one to protect & insulate the underside of bed & one on top for extra warmth, as they weigh almost nothing... The noises sounded like Crickets, grasshoppers or even frogs...!🤔🤣 I've gone back to using my original mini stove, it's so small & in a great little box, which came with a pot set... Then got a similar made mini gas lamp in box, which is fab in the winter... Love abit of PastaNsauce, can't got wrong...!😋 Flextail pump V's Church bells & Bagpipes, eeerm...!???🤯 That was a laugh...!🤣 I got a nice Summit Outdoors collapsible rechargeable Bug-zapper light from Tesco, which is well good £15...!✔️ Also take some Jungle Formula spray, citronella T-light candles, burn sticks & headnet...💯 Ain't no fecker chewing me if I can help it...!😄🙏 Got a great sleep bag a while ago about 700g Widesea400, duckdown, packs small, well warm, 3season, water resistant & with a large mesh storage bag for about £50 from Ali aye...!😉 Keep up the good stuff & enjoy...!🙂
I’ve just watched your latest vid whilst having my morning brew 👍 thoroughly enjoyable all the way especially the symbols on screen 😁…as for church bells versus bag pipes well I would definitely have had to find that lone piper and removed his batteries!! 😃…tent looked good finally and so did supper 💪 cave woman camping at it’s best 👍….also I think that noisy bird definitely had issues 🙈
Great video and congratulations on your TH-cam success. 🙂 Like yourself, I purchased a light weight sleeping bag for the summer, but seeing your experience with being cold, I will re-evaluate using it unless the weather becomes super hot. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
@@AdventuresWithLiluMy two cold/colder weather sleeping bags are the OEX Leviathan 900 and the Rab Ascent 1100. The Rab is amazing. Very comfortable and warm. Used it in -7C before and slept incredibly warm. Have fun! 😊
Great video, I also had a really cold camp recently...I had a base layer in but not thermal. I've now got a lovely set of wool & modal thermals and wear them for every camp, whatever the temp outside and they regulate lovely to keep me just right. 😊😊
As you may know lilu I am an old Shelter worker, accustomed to negotiation. Of course people with disputatios matrimonial disputes feel happy to draw me in to their resolution. Lilu I did housing, I housed thousands of people, benefits, and I am afraid dismissing Social Services who in twenty seven years never helped one of my own. You come off, I was reading an old Inspector Montalbano novel, and your eyes are fine. You come off a mountain and some squabbling world awaits. I hope I would neversquabble with my fellows but sometimes you want to walk a mountain alone. I mean no disrespect to any of my kin.We clamber on the shoulders of giants, we would be fools not to, I have always respected those who clamber alone or camp in forests unforeseen.
Great video Lilu and the tent looks much better .... just one thing .. i have this tent and find 130cm a good length for the pole which should be place almost vertical .. that will tighten the tent up.. 🙂
Great video again , that unusual sound could have been a frog, they can make some unusual buzzing/chirping noises , but it depends if you were near water I guess , best wishes 🖤🖤🦇🦇
Congratulations on passing the 5K Subscriber mark 🙂. Nice little overnighter in pleasant, if noisy at times, surroundings. Can't believe how cold it is in the UK this summer; seems to be a common theme amongst the recent videos I've watched this last few weeks on YT of UK wild camping. Very lucky to have moved with my job in the UK to sunnier climes in Malaysia almost 20 years ago but even our weather patterns are changing. It's always hot here but now we have incessant thunderstorms and very heavy rain almost daily with widespread flooding. Crazy times.! Keep up the good work wit the videos and look forward to watching your next one. You might want to check out Jason and his Rambling On channel to solve your Lanshan 1 set up issues. He seems to have it sussed without extra guylines as far as I can tell. Cheers
I just found your channel I love camping video's or bushcraft videos but you stay safe out there it not the wild life it's the people well God bless 🙏 love from America ❤️
Thanks Lilu, another great video! I would love to give wild camping a go, but I know I'd be abit funny about the creepy crawlies 😂 and definitely slugs! Really looking forward to your next adventure. 😊
I switched to a hammock from my Lanshan tent after waking up to a couple dozen slugs on all my stuff. The hammock system is a little heavier, but everything off the ground is totally worth it 😂
hi lilu... great vlog again. thanks. and happy birthday to you. did i see you get a little emotional. bless. well done on your subscribers. smashing it girl.. 😊👍👍❤
I have never done this before but I am going to try and tell you an old story. So if you are sitting comfortably I will begin. It started on a Sunday, that at least was when the rain started so we might as well begin there. My late father was in charge of flood defence in Lewisham, something which I suspect came as much of a surprise to him as it did to the rest of the family. As far as any failing flood defence goes I think he did the best that any man could. The rivers, one of which flowed past our own house, burst their banks. Dampness descended and continued to do so. Nobody yet suspected that by Tuesday the dedicated milkman would come round by rowing boat. I have pictures of it. There were basement flats by the railway station flooded from floor to ceiling. I did not know him then but now old Ken had scuba dived through his downstairs neighbours kitchen. We had at the end of a long day moved everything upstairs except for the carpet underlay. About three in the morning I heard singing and went downstairs. It was the only time I ever saw my father drunk. He was splashing through our lounge in his underwear with a bottle of whisky in his hand. I left him to it, we never talked of it thereafter. That was my story lilu or perhaps more exactly my father's. At the end of the day we have little to offer but walks and stories. I cannot offer you walks compared to yours but I hope stories will suffice. They are walks in all but name. With best wishes. I am a historian by education. I tell stories.
Hello. First to tell you that you are fantastic. And then that I like to walk but unlike you, I never hear bagpipes. It must be said that I walk in my hills in the Basque country. There are also butterflies, spiders and church bells but no bagpipes.
Great video girl, but some advice would be to wear more greasy brown gear to blend into your surroundings including that big here I am folllow me rucksack with the gym mat attached, light and stealthy, tarp and light gear with blow up mat would be start with pre cooked food to reduce space. Less gear , quicker to pack and move

I remember the sheep!
A lighter tent is a good advance 👌
Haha who could forget the sheep!
gorgeous
Hi Lilu, the pillow you have has a little valve that you press, it lets you blow air in and stops it escaping while inflating, when you deflate the pillow you simply press the little valve button and it deflates easily, I think you had it depressed , so that’s why it was a pain to inflate, hope this is useful to you .
Haha yeh iv used the pillow loads of times I was just distracted by the bagpipes I think 😆
Bagpipes are hilarious
🤯🤯
Great video Lilu, I’m watching from Tasmania, Australia and we are in our winter, so I’m missing camping.
Thanks for sharing, I really enjoy your outdoor adventures.
Thanks for visiting !
Press the button in rhe valve on the pillow, it switches between one and 2 way
Oh gosh I know iv used it loads but those bagpipes made me stupid 🤣🤣🤣
This is like pond life animation from the 90s channel 4 if dolly pond went camping 😅
😅
I think that noise is a frog chorus 😅 Foxes make a racket too 😅
Frogs . Yep I can hear the drunks make their way home down in the valleys miles away . Then airplanes flying over every hour and the traffic noise . Your not insulated from the noises you are normally insulated from in a house . Ear plugs work wonders .
3FUL Gear Lanshans are pants! Full of condensation and a nightmare to pitch! Get a Durston X-Mid 2
I had no condensation at all. I was happy with it
👍
5ft2 an only used mine without the inner up so far loadsa room :)
Great video lilu,⛺️would you like me to send you some bagpipe music 🤣👌
🤯🤯🤯🤯😭😭😭😭😱😱😱😱
Bagpipes, church bells and guns ha ha. Still looked like a lot of fun. Love your channel.
Nightmare evening lol
Thanks! 🤣
Ms Lilu,
I have recently redefined what Cherry-Garrard called The worst journey in the world.
Awesome video. First time watching. Keep doing what your doing and be safe out there! 😁👍
Thanks!
@@AdventuresWithLilu yes ma'am, anytime! 😁
SL
I use a wired mic ( in description) with tye Sony ZV-1 sometimes I don't have it close or clipped to me. Thanks for stopping by!
@@AdventuresWithLilu Thank you
I had hoped to walk to Rotherhithe where there is a small museum devoted to Bazalgette pere but it is too damned hot and the finger I had inadvertently sliced open and still dripping blood would lead me to being pursued by feral dogs. So a poem.
I like you Miss's Lilu
You're a caution
You're a treat
The Mufti of Jerusalem
Would worship at your feet
The Czar of all the Russias
Would make you tea and toast
But none the less
It's just a guess
I like you more than most.
That's your poem. Why not. With thanks. I have nowt else to offer. Travel well. I have often found dreadful poetry speeds the pace. It might save your life one day. Xx
''never used it......won't be using it again''. Yep, been there, done that.
😅😅
Another great video. It's great to see you out having fun. Can't wait to see your next adventure xx
"Sound travels more in the dark". Does it? 😆
Yeah!!
@@AdventuresWithLilu 🤣
16:45 no comment, but I have Chocolates 😂😂
Very interesting and appreciated thank you Lilu - Just checking also, when can we 'Tie the Knot' as such? with many thanks x Dominic
Haha tying knots mean being tethered, I'm a free spirit and need to have no ties. I'm afraid 😊
Thank you for visiting
Just found your channel liked the video and have subscribed Keep up the good work
Thank you! Welcome!
Well done you brilliant video always a pleasure to watch ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
🤣🤣🤣
Did you see any Bigfoots?
Noooo lol
That was a cricket or grass hopper
Apparently, a night jar bird 🐦
I always set mine at 130 , takes the slack out the tent , great video as always
🙏🙏👍👍💎💎
I’ve just watched your latest vid whilst having my morning brew 👍 thoroughly enjoyable all the way especially the symbols on screen 😁…as for church bells versus bag pipes well I would definitely have had to find that lone piper and removed his batteries!! 😃…tent looked good finally and so did supper 💪 cave woman camping at it’s best 👍….also I think that noisy bird definitely had issues 🙈
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
sasquatch :)
What what?
Needs a sound warning for that pump machine , what an awful sound
Yeh it's pretty rubbish isn't it. Not stealthy at all!
Over the fence that way well away from others
Titanium is very light but it's a bit rubbish for actual cooking stainless steel is worth the extra weight imo.
Everything sticks to titanium 😫
Great video and congratulations on your TH-cam success. 🙂 Like yourself, I purchased a light weight sleeping bag for the summer, but seeing your experience with being cold, I will re-evaluate using it unless the weather becomes super hot. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
Omg I froze!!!! 🤣
Sounds great!
Sunday night viewing sorted. 😀 Been raining all day
Oh no more rain...we had a bit of sunshine today for once
Sad, desperate droolers abound in your comments section .
😂
Great content anyway .
Thanks 😅
Great video again , that unusual sound could have been a frog, they can make some unusual buzzing/chirping noises , but it depends if you were near water I guess , best wishes 🖤🖤🦇🦇
Wow go girl you have more guts than me lol I'm a very big guy and I'll be honest I couldn't sleep alone in the woods for so many reasons haha
😱😄
Fantastic video lilu really enjoy .
Glad you enjoyed it
Congratulations on passing the 5K Subscriber mark 🙂. Cheers
Hi and welcome! Thanks for watching! Yes, the weather around the world is changing, sadly
I just found your channel I love camping video's or bushcraft videos but you stay safe out there it not the wild life it's the people well God bless 🙏 love from America ❤️
Thank you, yes, always have to be alert x
Love the “ not everything is perfect “ vids. Greeting from Holland
Glad you like them!
Thanks Lilu, another great video! I would love to give wild camping a go, but I know I'd be abit funny about the creepy crawlies 😂 and definitely slugs! Really looking forward to your next adventure. 😊
Haha! I don't like them either lol
I switched to a hammock from my Lanshan tent after waking up to a couple dozen slugs on all my stuff. The hammock system is a little heavier, but everything off the ground is totally worth it 😂
@@umaiar 😱😭
hi lilu... great vlog again. thanks. and happy birthday to you. did i see you get a little emotional. bless. well done on your subscribers. smashing it girl.. 😊👍👍❤
Thank you 😊
Great video watching you from Ireland you should come and do a bit of camping in Ireland.
That would be cool!
Great video as always
Thank for a great video, and I wish you the best.
Thank you! You too!
Keep up the great content Lilu . 👍
Thanks Lilu great video.
Glad you liked it!
Great video thanks Daren
You're very welcome
Another great video. Keep 'em coming Lilu. 👍ps seems like this 'Lanshan 1' is a pile of poo. The noise sounds like a Nightjar. 😁😍
Thank you! Will do!
U seemed quite scared in this camp
Hello. First to tell you that you are fantastic. And then that I like to walk but unlike you, I never hear bagpipes. It must be said that I walk in my hills in the Basque country. There are also butterflies, spiders and church bells but no bagpipes.
Basque country - 🇪🇸 Spain?
@@AdventuresWithLilu The both, Spain and France. It is a shared country. (Forgive my English, it's not very good.)
Im insanely jeaious, Was hoping to head out this weekend, but seem to have a touch of Covid, so don't think anywhere for me for a wee while,
Oh noo get well soon!
I am a man but i love your top/dress with the native american style patterns. Nice video too.
Oh thank you!
Thanks for the tips!
A great watch Lilu❤
