The trekking pole tents are easy to put up but not as simple as a normal tent. Have a look at "Hunt on the Trails" "Hiking with Martin" and "Long Suffering Hiker". They all go into using trekking pole tents, although I think the 2 pole variety. They seem to be set up similarly, although I only have the latter. I’ve got a Lanshan 1 and it’s notoriously difficult to pitch until you’ve tried it a few times. The best video by far is by Long Suffering Hiker, once you’ve seen that you can really fine tune it. Pole height needs to be 125cm - and you need to have the all the adjusters at the pegs at their slackest before you put the pole in. The pegging point for the pole is in that knotted loop that you mentioned (this bit is crucial and it’s worth using a stronger peg here) and the rams head fastens onto the tent doors at the bottom then you can adjust the pegging out points accordingly . Sort the basics out and understand how it works before you start replacing bits with the accessories that you’ve bought . Good luck!

I love that whole area - lived there for a while when we were opposing the attempted re-opening of Endcliffe and Lees Cross Quarries but that's another story... Doll Tor is a lovely little spot and there's loads of other interesting stuff round there like Robin Hood's Stride, Hemit's cave, Nine Stones Close, Andle Stone, Cork Stone and lots of other, smaller ancient sites actoss Stanton Moor... I've got a Gatewood Cape tent which is a similar design to the Lanshan. They key for that one is getting certain points pegged out in the right shape (in the case of the Gatewood - the back guy rope and the two side ones) and then adding the trekking pole and pegging out the rest. Also, it pitches better if the fly sheet is a bit off the ground (longer pole length) so it is the right distance from the inner tent and gives good ventilation. Hope this helps! It's nice to see you exploring some of the places I've been in the past and hope to revisit again sometime. Also great to see your mistakes and learning as you go - very important as we often live in a world of social media where things look so perfect and unnatainable for lots of people which can be demoralising. Loved the search for the 'Stones' and I sure it was worth it. It is always amazing when we come across deer on our adventures/walks. For me it was either a tent similar to a Lanshan or a tarp and I went for the tarp as the configurations are endless, just require an imagination. Great to see you out again, and we being the audience spoiled with yet again a fantastic adventure. Keep em coming.
I’ve just managed to watch your latest production 😁 And definitely and interesting little hike ! 👍 I’ve never heard of that miniature stone circle but you absolutely did the right thing not hanging about to see who came back for the mystery beers !..fun in going off piste too and having peace and tranquility all around you 😊 as for the tent well yes looked like a complete ball ache 😃 say no more….anyway I won’t witter on anymore 🙈 just to say I thoroughly enjoyed the video 💪
I'm expecting my delivery of my first tracking poll. Tent next week and I'm probably going to have the same problem you are going through now. So when you sort it, can you please put a video on how to put it up? So I will make it easier for me.
Normally, Lanshan 1/2 is waterproofed in the factory, but I suggest applying glue to the side black wind ropes. In case of heavy rain, the seams at that position will seep a small amount of water.
Well done for another adventure enjoyed it as usual not a failure you made the effort and went out tryed your best their is always another day to succeed looking forward to the next one
Shame I didn't see this before. I have loads of those little black clips. They are so useful to clip on tarps, tents and even table clothes on your picnic table. You simply clip them on, attach a line and peg it down ...... Chris B
The attachment loop right at the very top of the flysheet is presumably for attaching to a convenient overhead tree branch instead of a trekking pole. The other guy line at the top of the fly goes down to a peg then back towards the door bottoms. The double metal hook thingy attaches to the two door bottoms. Pole at 125/130cm.
Hyah Lilu. I sympathise with you about the tent as I have recently bought a Night Cat one which is very similar to the Lanshan and is the same shape but with the major difference that it came with the seams already sealed. I think the extra piece with the double hook is for the bottom of the outer door. The Night Cat has a similar bit that is used (I think!) to hold the door shut. I noticed that you had not fitted the bottom of the treking pole through the loop on the base of the bath tub floor. It sticks out right at the bottom. This will help line the pole up properly. Also the pole was not extended far enough to tension the tent properly. On the Night Cat it says to fit the inner tent to the same pegs as the outer before putting the pole in so that should help as well. Peg all the corners and the rear of the tent before you put in the pole so that you'll have a better idea how high the pole needs to go and don't forget to have the door zipped shut while you fit the pole. You can then pull the door out and peg it out. One thing that I've found useful is to run the side guy lines around a couple of spare tent pole sections to give you more space inside by keeping the fabric up a little. I am 6'2" tall and last time I forgot to take them. I was sleeping with the inner tent in my face all night! I have some spare tent poles made of fibreglass which I would be happy to send you but they shouldn't be hard to come by and you don't need fancy metal poles for that purpose. Of course, they add a little weight to your pack but I think they're well worth the effort. The main thing is to practice putting the tent up when you're not going to sleep in it - do it in your garden (or in my case my son's garden as I live in a flat) until you are sure you can get the tent up even in windy conditions. I hope these tips help. But above all, keep having fun. I watch your videos (I subscribed many months ago) and you do seems to enjoy your wild camping trips.
Love this video. You go out and try it. If it works great. If it doesn't then go to plan B. Your plan Bs are always good. The sheep in that area seem to be baaa baric. The deer were awesome. Both the four legged ones and the lady that filmed them. Can't wait for the next one.
I've always struggled a bit with my Lanshan 1, there seems to be a greater amount of fiddling to get it right than any of my other tents and mine didn't come with a groundsheet which apparently helps a lot as it shows you where the pegs go. Last summer I ended up mostly using a tarp tent instead but I'm going to keep trying with the Lanshan 1 because once it's up it's great and it's very light and packs up tiny.
I thought deer were everywhere, Lilu, if you go out at 5am you'll see loads. Sorry if I've mentioned it before, but National Library of Scotland have online historic maps of the UK so you can find out about old industry/ruins. I love ancient rural industry sites too. Massive amount of quarrying around there so I guess that's what the buildings are. I guessed it was some kind of driving. You getting a bus to convert or summat ?
I just love your videos.....they make me smile! As for the tent, I believe the Lanshan 1 is a Chinese knock off of the Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo (which I used for 6 years). There are some really good videos on TH-cam about erecting the Lunar Solo so it might help if you have a look at some. Can't help you with the "extra bits" though. Cheers. PS How about BBQ sauce for sausages?
Beautiful as always - a great video treat for father's day. Love the hair. I don't have one of those tents so I wouldn't know. You're a smart wee lass - you'll work it out. I'd swap those front guys around with the longest on the top.
Thanks so much! Yes i think all the lines need swapping for stronger ones. I think the long grass didn't help, I think when it stops raining il try pitching ti on the local playing field..its just been mown! lol
its all about trial and error at least it was a nice day out with plenty of wildlife to see 😀Good luck on your new venture and look forward to your next video ... also i agree with you its always tomato sauce😉
Good on you Lilu - that tent looks like you need a degree in Physics to pitch it ! Why was it sold without instructions ? Glad you spotted the deer during your walk. They looked like Roe deer to me. Don't ever worry about " looking silly" - at least you try when most wouldn't ! Another well made and entertaining video - I always enjoy them !
We have the nightcat which is exactly the same. Just peg out the corners, pop the poles in , finish the pegging..job done ✔️ it's really easy. Maybe overthinking it a bit? I'd forget all those extra bits for now and just use pegs and trekking poles.
@@AdventuresWithLilu we use the same pegs for footprint, inner and outer..sometimes need extra couple but mostly it all goes on same ones. Try in the garden x
I shall always remember the lovely tomato sauce sausage sandwiches and will try to forget the tent issues from this entertaining and informative video. Is there not a six month training course you need to go on before using a Lanshan 1? Hmmm. Thank you for taking us along.
Hi. The video by Long Suffering Hiker that others have mentioned helped me get the Lanshan pitched along with some practice at home. He also has a video on modifications to the tent, some are worth doing and some I am not so sure about. The guylines are plenty strong enough, I wouldn't replace them. All the best for the new career.
make them more straight (inline) with the tent so u get a triangle and then cinch it as yopu go along :) and the pole a bit higher :) that ram head hellps so the door bits at bottom so it dont snap and feed a guy rope through it and just attach the metal hook end to the door and wallah! the croc clips are more for tthe flappy bits at the bottom around the tent top tension it a bit more will need some guy ropwe for them too :)
I love the intro 👌at least it wasn't raining when you were faffing about with the tent. Good luck in your new career. I'm guessing you are a HGV driver? Atb Taff 🤠👊
Great video , I love stone circles , were the two cans of beer nice?😂 , Seven falls in Tintwistle is somewhere you might like , bit tricky to find , I did do a video last year on how to get there though, good luck with your new job ,best wishes 🦇
Haha, lucky for the person who was storing them I am not a beer drinker lol I shall have a look at your video because yes, this is on my list to d at some point as well. Thank you :)
Looks like a lovely walk. Steady as you go 🙂 And thank you for sharing... EDIT: Great entertainment and I can see you are a lovely person but OMG I just got to the end and think you may need a little help. Hope things start coming together so that you get a dry night away with something to eat too.... Andy...
Absolutely love watching you lilu and the wonderous places you visit. Definitely be careful around these pagan sites. High chances im moving that direction very sooooon. I need a car bumper sticker saying i love lilu
Loving your videos, you have a great style. That bloody creaking backpack is the most annoying thing in the world isn't it? I had a forclaz backpack that I just couldn't stop creaking, I stopped using it in the end.
Yeh, I spent most of the time with my gand behind my back, pulling on bits of the bag to work out where it was coming from.. I think it's the frame, and there's nothing I can do to stop it. It's enough to stop using it, yes!
@@AdventuresWithLilu it could be something in the bag as well though. Try talcum powder, I've heard it sometimes helps. The lanshan .. it's all about getting the tensions right but you do it in stages. Put the footprint down with the guys running diagonally in line with the centre point of the groundsheet. Make it quite tight. Undo the guy adjusters (the triangular bits of plastic) to max length and put the bathtub, flysheet and footprint guys all on the same peg. Put your trekking pole in (BOTH adjusters set to 120cm) then peg out the four guys. Go back round the corner guys and tighten them. Then do the same with the guys. I'd recommend changing the guy with the rams horn on to a different set up. Rambling On has a great video about mods on his channel.
Hey I have the lanshan 1, couple of things if you've not worked it out yet, the metal clasp is called the rams head, it's only to replace the already fitted plastic one as they're prone to snapping, mine hasn't though, secondly if your lanshan 1 has the seperate inner (not the pro version) it doesn't require seam sealing, as it's only the pro that requires sealing. It can be a chew to pitch but once you've done it a few times you'll get faster, for the record I hate my lanshan 1 and try not to use it as it makes me cry uncontrollably 😂😂😂
I've not long found you and subscribed, now I find out you have red sauce on sausages, might have to reconsider 😂...I'd guess your trekking pole needs to be a bit higher 🤔.....I like your no frills and honest videos Lilu, I'll stick around 🫶
Love your videos. I’ve got to admit, that’s the worst pitching attempt I’ve ever seen on a Lanshan😂 You’ll get it right, test pitch it a few times before you use it again out n the wild. Keep up the great work
About he deer! There's about 50x as much deer 🦌 as there should be. It's a problem. Because natural predators are nonexistent and forests are divided into multiple small patches which mean a lot more circumference for grazing of deer at their preferred habitat (edge of forest).
@@AdventuresWithLilu Yes, the ecosystem is so out of balance that it is crazy! People also breed Cats, there are 10s of as many Cats strolling around countryside and cities than would be naturally (as wild lynx and bobcats). Songbirds are almost nonexistent because of that! Real shame, because imagine how Nice it would be to hear all the various birdsongs everywhere!
@@Kev.B.4311 Branston sauce for either, Tomato sauce for either, and the piece de resistance Mustard, English or Dijon, and for omelette any time Branston Pickle, now if you want to be really suave Tomato pickle with some Branston pickle. I also love Worcester sauce with Omelette and add a little tomato sauce or pickle too. Same for Burgers. I also have a penchant for Beef and Tomato sausage with any of the above. Hard to get them these days though. Any suggestions as to supplier? I wish they would stop putting so much Palm oil and other oils in everything Nice video, Lilu ,i was worried about you going through the undergrowth towards the quarry and suddenly a dead drop or big hole though. Lovely to see the deer.
Remember putting up a new tent was a definite cause of a family row 😂. Only a week ago watched a couple putting up a tent, I was going to offer to help but hearing the speed the situation deteriorated!! thought it might be wise to stay out of it.
@@AdventuresWithLilu 🤔Not sure, I may have done...!😄 But I have commented previously about burning my hot tent & rolling around with an overweighted rucksack...!🙄🤣 It's all fun & games init...✔️💯👍
What I meant was..it was heavier than the supplier stayed. So Yodel refused. I was setting off to collect the next day as agreed.. but they then updated the tracking to say ut had been returned!! 🙈
I don't habe anywhere at home to set up tents as I said in the video, this was why I went out to have a go at pitching it and I wasn't camping over Thank you for watching
@@AdventuresWithLilu i set up in my home main hall. After i went camping that was my first proper outdoor set up, watch a few setup videos it helps! It was my first tracking pole tent. A lanshsn 1 pro.
A few years ago I was walking through a field of sheep with my brother and his new girlfriend she thought it would be a good idea stroke a baby lamb with its mother . The mother decided to charge her a then chased her around the field several times then the other sheep joined in . It was very entertaining to watch . always give sheep a wide berth

I love sheep they kept me safe and warm in a thunderstorm once, inside a sheep shelter, gentle baaing soothed me to sleep. People do them a disservice they are very smart animals.
@@AdventuresWithLilu yes😅 cheeky buggers . I always try to camp on the otherside of the livestock enclosures, wall, fields but this doesn't always work when woken up by heavy breathing at 4am and cows reach over the wall and licking the dew off your tent . ear plugs are a must with planes cars motorbikes sounds traveling a lot further at night you can even hear conversation of people in the valleys below .
Hi don’t give up on the lanshan You just need to use it a few times to get the hang of it and once you do it goes up super fast With the trekking pole height I have mine at 125 I really is a great tent doesn’t take long to get good at putting it up
All this Ketchup v's Brown sauce nonsense, I go both, at the same time and it will blow your mind 😅 Congrats on becoming an ADI. I know it isn't easy to get across the line. I had a great time doing it back in '06. All the best.
@@AdventuresWithLilu I found my examiner was more interested in whether I knew how to structure a lesson, you can always have them pull over while you show them your picture examples. I passed on my third try with a six, so the nerves were high. Don't worry too much about passing first time you should get some really good advice in the debrief. When you do pass the whole experience gets much easier and you'll find your stride pretty quickly.
@@AdventuresWithLilu You'll be fine. It's always a mixed bag of people, I thought they would all be 17 and first time learners but you will meet all ages, you'll also realise that there are plenty of shoddy adi's who don't know what they're talking about. You bus driving experience will serve you well. 😊
I have a Lanshan One. Your pole height is wrong, my pole is 120cm. Lay out 4 corners, all strings/straps all in line with outer tent seam, then push in 4 pegs, once done push in rear middle peg. All adjustable straps to be at their maximum. Open main zip, push 120cm pole into top area (handle at top) which is reinforced, then pull up to vertical then peg line into ground. Pointy end goes into grommet at bottom of tent. You can tell how vertical your pole needs to be by standing to one side and making a judgement about the angle of the rear of the tent that you want. Ignore line at top of tent. Now return to 5 pegs, tighten straps and tent will show its proper shape. I got rid of the main line set up, and just use a single cord with a loop at the end pegged into ground, some people keep it as it is. I then pull out and peg the left side of the tent entrance and zip secure the right side when I'm in the tent. If wet, the tent sags, my remedy is just before settling for the night I walk around the tent and tweak all the straps tight. I really like the tent because it's so lightweight and have never had a problem with it, and its seams are waterproof. Make sure your model is, if not you will have to seal it yourself. My inner is a separate mesh, and has a 'T' zip set up, some models have a 'j' zip setup. Also look up 'Lanshan One' on TH-cam, so many suggestions, tweaks, and ideas to help you really like your tent. Good luck with it.
@25:40 just got my lanshan 1, trial pitched it in the garden 3 times, went thru the same rotations you did ! from my perspective, peg out the corners of the inner tent reasonably taut, then overlap the loops of the outer oveer the same pegs that are holding the inner...while inserting the "pole" ( ohh 'errr missus ! ) to erect ( ohhh Missus !! ) the tent, then tension the guys at the front ( the line that runs from the "peak" of the tent to the ground )... hope that makes sense this might help th-cam.com/video/G_jP3JjWHFU/w-d-xo.html
Personally I think the Lanshan is absolutely rubbish , kept mine for a few months then swapped it out for the far suoerior Durston x mid 2 solid. What a revelation and no fuss pitching.
Irresponsible and potentially dangerous if you were injured. A map and compass and you could have taken a bearing and worked out how to get to your intended destination.
Lol I was 5 mins from my car and new exactly where I was. I know the area well and was looking for the stone circle not getting lost Thanks for watching

Great to see you out again, and we being the audience spoiled with yet again a fantastic adventure. Keep em coming.
Thank you so much 💓
What a wonderful time in the beautiful outdoor you had. Interesting and very relaxing video 😊😊😊
Glad you enjoyed it
I’ve just managed to watch your latest production 😁 And definitely and interesting little hike !
Lol thank you 😊
I'm expecting my delivery of my first tracking poll.
Glad you enjoyed it
Brilliant👍
Shame I didn't see this before. I have loads of those little black clips. They are so useful to clip on tarps, tents and even table clothes on your picnic table. You simply clip them on, attach a line and peg it down ...... Chris B
Another great video, love how you keep it real! Congratulations on your new career. 😊 x
Thanks so much!
Oh wow. Understood! Thank you !
Just gleaned this from Mr Daleys vid where he has just recieved his Lanshan 1 in the post and puts it up in his garden.

You'll need a cool trendy name for your new driving school then.
How about..."Smashed it"😁😁😁
As always, Excellent adventure ❤😂
Thank you! 😃
I didn't see a guyline on the back, that's what that "extra" one is for.
Miss Lile be you a dtudent driver teacher
I watch your videos (I subscribed many months ago) and you do seems to enjoy your wild camping trips.
same.
Love this video. You go out and try it. If it works great. If it doesn't then go to plan B. Your plan Bs are always good. The sheep in that area seem to be baaa baric. The deer were awesome. Both the four legged ones and the lady that filmed them. Can't wait for the next one.
Yes! Thank you!
Love your videos. You're not pretentious and just 'keep it real'.
yes give up and go 'ome haha
yeah, like most of the outdoor youtubers.
Glad you are managing to get out and enjoy the country
One day of sunshine, let's go!
Thank you for a fun to watch video - they should have sent you some nice instructions. Congrats on your new job - driving instructor 😃🥰
Thanks...first day today! Eek!
@@AdventuresWithLilu Lots of confidence, you're be wonderful 🤩
Hi. You only need to seam seal the Lasham Pro as it is single shin tent.
Hmm the website I bought it from states it needs sealing but I did wonder as it was taped
No no my time with buses is over lol
Love you antics😂
Wry brave girl by yourself Love your accent Plus your adorable
Thank you lol
I just love your videos.....they make me smile! As for the tent, I believe the Lanshan 1 is a Chinese knock off of the Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo (which I used for 6 years). There are some really good videos on TH-cam about erecting the Lunar Solo so it might help if you have a look at some. Can't help you with the "extra bits" though. Cheers.
PS How about BBQ sauce for sausages?
Oo now there's a thought 😁
Great vid LiLu, love your honesty.
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching
I think the long grass didn't help, I think when it stops raining il try pitching ti on the local playing field..its just been mown! lol
Great video again & i loved the views X❤
Thank you 😁
its all about trial and error at least it was a nice day out with plenty of wildlife to see 😀Good luck on your new venture and look forward to your next video ... also i agree with you its always tomato sauce😉
Good effort Lilu 👏
I did enjoy watching your videos
Thank you 😊
Good on you Lilu - that tent looks like you need a degree in Physics to pitch it !
I couldn't get it taught... but maybe the long grass didn't help.
Thanks, I'll try again
@@AdventuresWithLilu we use the same pegs for footprint, inner and outer..sometimes need extra couple but mostly it all goes on same ones. Try in the garden x
No room in my garden but il go to the playing fields. Thanks
I shall always remember the lovely tomato sauce sausage sandwiches and will try to forget the tent issues from this entertaining and informative video. Is there not a six month training course you need to go on before using a Lanshan 1? Hmmm. Thank you for taking us along.
There shud be a course yes!!
Thank u so much
If at first you don’t succeed try try again Practice makes perfect 😊
So true!
Great video
Thanks for the visit
make them more straight (inline) with the tent so u get a triangle and then cinch it as yopu go along :) and the pole a bit higher :) that ram head hellps so the door bits at bottom so it dont snap and feed a guy rope through it and just attach the metal hook end to the door and wallah! the croc clips are more for tthe flappy bits at the bottom around the tent top tension it a bit more will need some guy ropwe for them too :)
I love the intro 👌at least it wasn't raining when you were faffing about with the tent.
Good luck in your new career. I'm guessing you are a HGV driver? Atb Taff 🤠👊
Thanks so much! 😊
Video is called Seven falls secret beauty spot 🦇
Thanks!
Looks like a lovely walk. Steady as you go 🙂 And thank you for sharing... EDIT: Great entertainment and I can see you are a lovely person but OMG I just got to the end and think you may need a little help. Hope things start coming together so that you get a dry night away with something to eat too.... Andy...
Help with pitching the tent or mentally? 🤣
Absolutely love watching you lilu and the wonderous places you visit.
Definitely be careful around these pagan sites.
High chances im moving that direction very sooooon.

@@AdventuresWithLilu happy solstice beautiful
Great thank you..il take it to a local plating field where it's flat and have another go soon.
Lol and me an Aries, i should have recognised the shape.
@robshirewood5060 I'm a Aries too 👌👍

Thanks!
Love your videos. I’ve got to admit, that’s the worst pitching attempt I’ve ever seen on a Lanshan😂 You’ll get it right, test pitch it a few times before you use it again out n the wild. Keep up the great work
🤣🤣🤣🤣 keeping it real, that's why!
About he deer! There's about 50x as much deer 🦌 as there should be. It's a problem. Because natural predators are nonexistent and forests are divided into multiple small patches which mean a lot more circumference for grazing of deer at their preferred habitat (edge of forest).
Oh! Interesting! Lovely creatures but yes I guess nothing really eats them here
@@AdventuresWithLilu Yes, the ecosystem is so out of balance that it is crazy! People also breed Cats, there are 10s of as many Cats strolling around countryside and cities than would be naturally (as wild lynx and bobcats). Songbirds are almost nonexistent because of that!
Real shame, because imagine how Nice it would be to hear all the various birdsongs everywhere!
Nice Hair 😍 I'm going to have pause until later though, I've got Tuscan Chicken on the Stove!
ooo sounds yummy, what time should i be round ;)

A British alternative to ketchup or bbq sauce 😋
I love the tiny tent. Perfect for Hobbits.
What I meant was..it was heavier than the supplier stayed. So Yodel refused. I was setting off to collect the next day as agreed.. but they then updated the tracking to say ut had been returned!! 🙈

Practice once At home! Frankly i do not find it difficult to set up.
I don't habe anywhere at home to set up tents as I said in the video, this was why I went out to have a go at pitching it and I wasn't camping over

A few years ago I was walking through a field of sheep with my brother and his new girlfriend she thought it would be a good idea stroke a baby lamb with its mother . You just need to use it a few times to get the hang of it and once you do it goes up super fast

Deer 🦌 deer
Good luck with it.
was it ewe? 🤣
@25:40 just got my lanshan 1, trial pitched it in the garden 3 times, went thru the same rotations you did ! from my perspective, peg out the corners of the inner tent reasonably taut, then overlap the loops of the outer oveer the same pegs that are holding the inner...while inserting the "pole" ( ohh 'errr missus ! ) to erect ( ohhh Missus !! ) the tent, then tension the guys at the front ( the line that runs from the "peak" of the tent to the ground )... hope that makes sense
this might help
