    With a new flash file , it takes a while for the MCM to learn the long term and short term fuel trim parameters. So the more you ride it the better it will get accustomed to your riding style .

    I just did my FTR and it feels cleaner. More refined fuel delivery, crisp clean throttle response. Crazy difference

  • @chrisdaniel7010

    The bike is simply smoother because it gets to operating temperature when it is ridden. When it is not ridden the combustion gases don’t get hot enough to reach operating temperature. When you start the bike and leave it idling for a while and ride afterwards, you will notice it will become smoother, rather than get on and ride straight away. Oil is relative here, since it’s viscosity changes when warm or hot. This applies to anything with a combustion engine. The flash however may contribute to fuel delivery parameters, and fuel to air ratio, since you have changed the factory mapping. - qualified technician - btw nice bike ;)

    I had Indians stage 1 air box and flash done to my bike and I removed a baffle from each stock muffler and it’s a very noticeable difference in sound and response/ power.

    From what I’ve read. Fuel Moto is a great company to deal with. It’s amazing what a proper tune will do. You are definitely experiencing a gain in power. And a much smoother fuel mapping.
    Dyno Jet tunes are ok. I had some flat spots at certain rpms with the dynojet tune. Sound like fuel Moto has spent a lot of time on the scout doing all sorts of dyno runs. I opted to go with a custom tune for a local shop. I purchased my PVCX from revzilla before I knew about fuel Moto.
    I find the problem with dyno jet tunes is it’s just a large blanket tune. Your elevation. Your set up can all cause differences. The shop I went with was very close to my elevation that I consistently ride at. I believe fuel Moto also offers remote tuning. The PVCX has the ability to data log.
    My stock bike was 76hp to the wheel.
    Intake/exhaust/dyno jet tune was something like 84? Same mods, custom tune ended up around 97hp.
    So you are very likely experiencing the increase in power and them smoothing out the throttle and fuel ratios.
    It is very much worth it!

      Jay Fast can’t begin to tell you how helpful this info is, Jay. Just re-read three times :) I noticed the ability to log on the device and as you mentioned, Fuel Moto will provide updates. I’m really looking forward to taking the bike out over the next few weeks to figure this out some more. Unfortunately I struggle to articulate what I’m experiencing on the bike other than to say it’s “awesome,” so your info here is really helpful. Thank you

      @jay_fast 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ryan Karchner No problem. Liking your vids. Perhaps someone that knows more about EFI can speak up. I know just enough to talk out my ass :). but I’m fairly sure the PVCX data log can only do so much. Without a wide band O2 it won’t be able to read your air fuel ratio. That kit is a $300-400 extra. So unless you are doing your own tuning you don’t really need to know your AFR. Any dyno shop will stick a sniffer into your exhaust (basically a wide band O2) and will get a AFR reading. I’d imagine fuel Moto can get you quite close with the data logging. Unless they use some other parameters to determine it. Ride safe. And ENJOY!!!

    You can flash multiple bikes with this you have to save your flash on your PC each time. It is a pain in the neck but it can be done.

    The exhaust seeming louder is not farfetched from a email tune on a bike. Lots more fuel being added and accounted for with your new filter. I would assume the indian flash didnt account for your exhaust thus making it run lean. Just my assumption on that.

  • @4greenb
    @4greenb 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I bought my bike from Indian with the V&H twin slash slip ons and that after market Indian air intake they told me they did a tune to make it run better because “you have to do that when you put a exhaust and intake on” there is no way they used a fuel moto or a dyno jet? Idk how else they would of tuned it to make it not run rich with the new parts

    • @karchman3197

      @@karchman3197 Another thing to note is that when a dealership flashes a chip, they need to abide by EPA emission standards, and will NOT give you all the horsepower available. Best to do what Ryan did and get it from FuelMoto, or have a professional tuner do it for you.

    Hey Ryan, im glad you had a good experience! I have to play devils advocate. Warranty? Does it affect that? No brainer that you can upgrade later on depending on your aftermarket parts. Thank you for the vlog.

      Joe Davis good question on the warranty! I’m not sure offhand. I did back up the Indian tune to the Dynojet, so if anything happens maybe I’ll just restore it and delete this video :)

      Ryan Karchner thanks for answering. I haven't done my first service yet, 280 miles, so I'm nervous as hell to do anything aftermarket yet in fear of something going wrong. This motor has been proven but people do have a bad day (factory) now and then!

    • @karchman3197

      Joe Davis nice, just for background I have about 1400 miles on my bike. I did my own oil change at 800 miles. Next week I’m taking it to a mechanic to install rear shocks and fork springs, and I’m gonna have him give it a once over to make sure everything is tight and operating well. Hope this helps!

    • @joedavis6377
      @joedavis6377 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ryan Karchner I'm going to take it to Indian for the 500, just for a piece of mind, then do oil changes myself after that. I've done an eagle LED, controls and pegs. I plan on the exhaust then the seat. Is the seat still living up to expectations? Cozyart and Jay Fast did a nice review on shocks. Thanks for all your info. Can't wait for more reviews!

    • @karchman3197
      @karchman3197  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Joe Davis the seat is night and day. I was just commenting on that yesterday with one of the riders in the group. I can ride on the bike all day with no discomfort.

  • @hannahschroeder5529
    @hannahschroeder5529 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Clarification question; you picked up the bike with the exhaust and performance intake already installed, correct? So your change in performance isn't from stock to intake, exhaust and flash right? Just want to make sure, I'm going to go from stock to these changes (but slip ons instead of full exhaust because I'm poor) and I'll be curious to see the shift in performance relative to how you described it!

    • @karchman3197
      @karchman3197  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hannah Schroeder yes, I picked up the bike and it had the rineharts and a heavy breather installed with an indian “standard” tune for that setup. So you going from stock to the dynojet flash should be pretty damn good.

    So I just got this and it’s giving me a headache, they said they preload maps for your current set up and extra maps for any future upgrades. Thing is, idk which map is for my set up :( Trask intake and Trask slip on. So my question is did you use any of the preloaded maps or did you email them for a new map??? I’m sorry if you answered this in the vid-_-

    • @karchman3197
      @karchman3197  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GOOSE mine didn’t come preloaded. I had to pull the bike info onto the device, then I used the form on fuel motos website to send them that info and request the map and they emailed it back to me that day. I called them before ever purchasing the device and they told me that would be the case. They were really great on the phone in case you need to give them a call. Let me know if this helps

    Hey man I got a 2021 scout bobber. I got Vance and Hines slip ons and a Indian air intake with the Indian calibration code. So you definitelyrecommend grabbing a tune even though I have the Indian code that they calibrated into it?
    I was going to go for the power vision 3 tuner.
    Most people that get these tuners go with the S&S intake or trask, I was thinking to upgrade to one of these as well. However after watching your video I am thinking the change in intake is not needed and I will yield similar results with my performance Indian air intake like you have. Plus I hate to eat the cost of the Indian intake by replacing it already. Thoughts on that?
    Also sub'd......

    Nice review man. I have the same bike and getting the dan moto 2 into 1 exhaust and the indian performance air intake. Just got off the phone with my local Indian dealer and they said when you get the air intake it comes with a "tune" that matches with any pipe. So I'm assuming that what they did with yours. So I'm going to go the same route with their tune for now the get the dyno jet a little later. How was your bike experience without the dyno jet tuner? I'm going from stock to the uprgrades

    Sorry to tell you this . Fuel Moto is a good company and vey helpful. But if you think you got a proper tune you are incorrect. For the cost you could have gotten an ecm dyno tune. I challenge you to put your bike on a dyno and tell me if what you get is what you thought you got. Most of the time its just adding fuel in a few cells. But if you are happy with it thats all that matters

      No dice , if your happy keep it that way. Went through it. In my case wasted lots of fuel with the so called custom map. I found out by renting an AFR gauge. Installed it, and did some tests . It confirmed my suspicions. It was richer than stock but had many lean areas. Good with your ride.

      I totally agree! The PVCX is way overpriced! All bikes are different even if its the "same" bike. If removing the rev limit and speed limit on a V-Twin is that important to you then I would say go for it. Or if you know how to use the DynoJet PowerCore software you can make timing and throttle response adjustments, but on my chieftain, I definitely did not gain more power from the PVCX, it is all mental. Go for a straight Dyno Tune if you want noticeable gains.

    • @pedroc6823
      @pedroc6823 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The last year or so I have converted to ECM dyno tuning.All the work done at the factory ecm no piggy back unit. Less stuff on the bike and less that can go wrong. You have more control of all the parameters if done by someone who is an experienced tuner. Finally technology that cashes up to car tuning. . I am not saying its night and day and produces more power. there are too many variables. When you look at the cost of then DynoJet tuner and the cost of the Dyno time the cost is about the same. But you get more precision work and tuning. I get mine done at RobsDytno in Garner MA. One of the pioneers of this tech for many years. TechnoResearch also does it and they can do remote tuning via data logging. There are options. I can only say that a flash tune from a library may only be better than stock. The only thing is you have to look at it as a different map only that may be better or worse. Most cases its better than stock because stock tends to be so lean. and Mostly you need more fuel The problem is removing and adding the fuel in the correct places not every where. and also adjusting timing correctly. But if you are happy with what you have thats all we want. I am just saying the Flash tuner does not give you the best you can get out of it without a dyno tune. Good luck.
