Awesome tutorial! Honestly you're one of the best ones I have found on here in terms of getting right to the point. I built million dollar homes before covid and the building department closing during the first few months in Keywest shifted me into my lifelong passion of restoring GM muscle cars and antique equipment. Use to paint cars growing up all the time but really trying to master it now. The body glaze worked amazing on a 69 442 I'm doing. Thanks again! Bob
Bought a repaired panel knowing it had 2 small 50mm paint , lacquer runs This vid saved me time and money. Never thoiught of using a blade but it worked a treat Borrowed some MIRKA paper from work to smooth over then some 3m polish Thank you for posting😉
Good video. Straight shooting and honest. Nice camera angles. I have a run in the paint and will not be able to really clean it up until after winter. I started to rush. Fast is slow, and Slow is fast.
I got a massive run on a door i did the other day. Well a couple as it was extremely cold out and i had to get it done. Thanks for the tips, gonna fix the runs later.
Just take your time and make sure you leave enough material around the run to work to finer grits. Make sure you use a backer like a piece of paint stick. Good luck!
@refinedautodesigns I got a rock chip on my new black car I just bought. I went to the dealership and they hooked me up with a scratch and fix pen. I applied that to the chip and now the paint drop from the pen is sitting higher the the rest of the hood's paint. Is that something I can sand out as well, and then buff?
Hi great video im.still kearning ..i got my base white pretty good . Masjed off for the pearl (3 stage) mainly had 1 r obvious run - same techjoque ? I so far opted 1200 /1000 get it smoothed out fir another flash coat? This flash ciat alreast looks much better . Ive got 1 fush eye very small and found a clear trick for it which should work .ty in advance for any tips .@refinedautodesigns
Amazing details on the same exact issue I was trying to fix!! The body filler to protect the clear coat on the surrounding area to the run is genius, someone told me about it earlier today and sent me another video to watch. Another person told me about the blade trick .. your video put all the tricks together !! One thing I’m curious about, what would the clear thickness be measured with a digital paint depth gauge in that area compared to the surrounding area?
Finer and finer grit paper. The finer you go with sanding, the less buffing you have to do. Technically you can stop at 2000 and start buffing. Just takes longer to get the scratches out and get a good shine. Hope it helps
There is body filler and body glaze. Same are the same thing but glaze is thinner for small imperfections like pin holes and chips. Many brands of each. I think I was using USC Icing. Hope it helps
Hi wonder if someone can help. I repaired & spray painted a small area on my car bumper, but when I removed the masking tape it left a ridge where the masking tape was, can I get rid of this without having to respray the bumper.
If the run is gone but it's wavy, it probably wasn't blocked even enough. It happens. Probably need to block straight, spot prime the breakthrough, and repaint panel. Runs can get ya!
Is that "glaze" the same thing that is used for bodywork before filler paint? Like fixing dents and stuff.. Sorry my native language is not english, so some terms like "glaze" is not familiar for me.
I’ve never heard of body glaze before is there a certain type to use? I need to sand down clear coat runs in my car. Is there a certain brand that works the best?
Body glaze is really thin body filler for finishing regular bodywork. Don't sand your clear. They are all pretty similar. It's just there to protect the area around a run from over sanding
They make bondo premium that is pretty good. Just has a bad reputation from being abused. Glazing putty is for small blemishes, no heavy filling. Just make sure your using a 2 part glaze that uses a hardener.
Thanks for the video! If you are in the position where more coats are needed after the run is fixed, is there a grit you recommend so that paint will still stick?
Cuzz i painted my foglight trim horizontally instead of laying down on the flat surface and when im on 3rd coat i thought everything is flat and even until i noticed that there is some paint runs. What do i do?
You can shave off the corners of the blade with 800 then you don't need tape . Don't understand the body glaze part .I just block sand with 1000 then 1500 ,2000,3000,then 5000.
Very well done, best glaze drip removal tutorial on TH-cam!
I very much liked the razor blade technique. Keep it up!

It doesn’t matter how long you have been painting for you always gonna have that day. This is a perfect video show what to do, very well explained 👏👏🫡

Wish i took my time. Sprayed a panel the other day and it ended up with worse runs then tacobell.
this was clear and easy to understand. thank you!
Thanks man, gonna try this on a guitar body I'm painting. Looks pretty straightforward, hope it saves me from a respray! Cheers!

You can scrape the edges on some lower grit sand paper and dull those edges so they don’t dig into the clear
Huge help. Thank you
awesome streight to the point and a perfect results thank you
Brilliant tutorial. Thanks mate.
I'm like what the hell is he doing with filler. Excellent Job, Very smart way to protect the surrounding paint. Very Very clever, Thank you.

Hope it works for you. Would use a digital mil gauge to measure film thickness. It will be thinner but not sure how much.
Excellent video brother
Thanks. Glad it's helping people
fantastic technique thank you!
That's was amazing! Good vid!
Great video, Got runs in the exact same place on my black BMW 🤦♂🤦♂
Can you tell me what Glaze you use and how long does it take to dry.? Thanks
@@stevek758 glaze is just a really thin body filler. Many different brands. Dries in minutes with the same hardener as regular fillers. Hope it helps
Very important presentation ... Thank you..Congratulations brother ..
What is the reason for the glaze, is it like a guide coat?
Raises entire area so you don't sand through the clear next to the run. Also kind of acts as a guide coat too
Instead of glazing putty can you not use tape to surround the defective area and then sand it?
I've wrapped the edges of the razor blade then cut it down before. Whatever works for you. Mine was on a curve and I feel puddy works better
Really good vid, thank you. Quick question, what is 2500-3000 grit used for?
Finer and finer grit paper. The finer you go with sanding, the less buffing you have to do. Technically you can stop at 2000 and start buffing. Just takes longer to get the scratches out and get a good shine. Hope it helps
Can this be done a few weeks after a paint job or should it only be attempted on fresh paint jobs?
@@Ross19kilo few weeks is fine. As long as the fat run is dried up enough not to chunk off
@@refinedautodesigns thanks I appreciate the help
I’m not sure what exactly the body glaze is, looked on Amazon but I’m not sure if it was the right stuff. Can you post a link?

There’s videos that help for that it shows how to sand blend it in
look great, i got a project at home. how did it take for that body glaze dried? thanks
It's 2k body glaze. Thin runny filler. Dries like regular filler. 10 minutes or so
@@refinedautodesigns thanks, I bought some compound polish 😆
@@charlesmcgee9016 haha need those too
Can this work on paint not clear coat more efficiently tractors paint
?
Sure. Tractor paint is probably a single stage enamel.
I just painted my plastic spoiler and clear coat has a few runs, first how long should I wait to do anything to it? And what can I do to fix the runs
Depends on the speed of the clear. If baked, probably next day. If air dry, would wait a few days to week.
@@refinedautodesigns if I wait a couple days do I just sand the runs down with 800 grit then 1000 and then 1500 then polish
Do u clear coat it thn wet sand it . Or can I wet sand it before I clear coat it
Painted and cleared. Got a run in the clear. Did this method and done. No repainting
I have a medium to small sized run I cant get the wave out doing this, I'm certain I did good body work any suggestion?

Sorry yes. Body glaze is like a running thinner filler, normally for finishing bodywork

that was great... thank you for sharing
what spray gun did you use?
@@MrClembm devilibis

Does this work with paint or just clear coat? I’m scared it’ll discolor my paint job
@@InspoPages it would also work on solid color single stage paint. Basecoat you would just sand out and recoat before clear. Good luck.

800 - 1000 grit.
Good job. How would you recommend getting a run out on the edge of a panel?
It's a careful balance of razor scraping and sanding. Edges are always tricky...
@@refinedautodesigns Thanks
Thanks for the vid! Does it work the same with a clear coat run?
Yes, my car was a clear run. I'm assuming would work on single stage paint as well

Does this works on the actual paint instead of clear coats?
Single stage paint, yes. You wouldn't do it to basecoat in a base/clear system.

True. I've seen people do it all types of ways. The glaze protects the lower areas around the run while you sand. Comes out better with no waves.
