I want to thank you for the outstanding tutorials. I had not painted since the mid '70's (Acrylic enamels, imron, etc). Started building projects again and when I was quoted $8-10K for a paint job thought not only no but hell no. I'm fortunate to own a manufacturing business so I have the ability to have all the tools and facility I need. But painting was something I never learned properly. I've watched and re-watched your videos and then gone right to the shop and used what I learned. I've done a few panels twice (oops) but overall I'm really pleased with my progress. My current project looks awesome for an amateur paint job. Mostly it is the body work / prep that I thought was good but turned out not to be once I put base down. So much is different now - and the paints are insanely expensive. I can say without reservation that your videos have been instrumental in my gaining the confidence to take on whatever comes in terms of paint. Many thanks.
This is without a doubt the best video you've ever created. We all have to deal with our little mistakes and your advice is priceless. It was so refreshing to see you bring out your mistake, not overthink it and then get on with the fix. Just awesome.
I've been painting since I was 14 it's nice to hear the things you learn are what make you better learn from your mistakes it's ok I'm 43 now you can never stop learning
I've been in this trade for 24 years and still get runs and run into problems from time to time. The main thing is to know how to fix them. I'm also still learning stuff and run into problems that I have never seen before. It's just part of the job.
Thanks for the motivation at the end. I’ve been painting since I was 18 I’m 26 now and just started at a collision shop getting certified, but I just recently did a tri-coat white. And my blend was not what I expected it to be. I hated it knew it was going to need redone and I felt so bad at my job like what am I doing here! I wanted to give up but now I want to try harder thanks for the advice I needed it! 🙏
Love the channel. Been tasked with painting chassis and parts at a resto shop. Hadn’t had a paint gun in my hand for a least 20 years. Found the channel and I got to tell you. Thank you. Had to do some study and thanks to you it makes me look good. Had forgotten how rewarding this is and well thank you again. I’ll be sure to watch and listen. See you round.
there is no beating a guy making very informative videos that TELLS IT HOW IT IS keep doing what your doing thanks nice video this coming from many years experience in the trade
As a DYI, I love your videos. I wish I could understand what to look for while setting up the gun. As I watch you spray, it looks like you're putting on an incredible amount of product. Runs galore for me.
Thin your paint a bit more and turn the flow down to about 75% what you're running until you get used to it. Also try to find discard and mismixed paints at your local paint store. Go in often, make friends and soon you can get free paint to practice with. It's all about time with the paintgun in your hand.
@@m4rvinmartian Thanks. I'm an aircraft sheetmetal mechanic and have to paint the parts after repairs so I'm not a professional painter. I generally use PPG Concept One or Essential which don't use a thinner. What would you suggest I use. Thanks in advance.
@@DONERIGHTKUSTOMS What happens is, newer painters try to achieve full coverage too quickly. So I FIRST remove 25% of his paint, THEN yes, thin it out so the coat edges flow together QUICKER. Had this issue three times and after that decided to start spraying my SRA reducer through the gun! Way better I must say, it won’t bite you like the can will. I love your emphasis on color as well, having a good color makes a blend much easier.
Good morning Brian. Hope your day is starting off great. I was going to say hi in person. I was down in Orlando. Went to see Mickey with my family. I always enjoy your tricks and tips. Happens to the best of us. I like the way you motivate folks and persevere when these mishaps arise. Enjoy your day in sunny Florida.
I’ve been painting since 1985 and I still beat my self up when I have a repaint,But I get over it and fix the problem and move on. It’s not an easy job, BUT I LOVE DOING IT.
I love this channel even though I was in the Body and Repair Shop in the '60's for about 4 years. I was overwhelmed at the changes in technology in tools, guns, compressors and paint. I tried to paint the deck and hood of my 2008 Honda Accord Royal Blue Pearl and Eastwood 2K Clear Coat. The entire spray job in a hot garage last month it looked like sandpaper from the Dupli-Color OEM paint cans. I think I would rather use two guns and don't know which to buy. It would be a family car set. Is LVLP or HPHV better. How big would the compressor need to be. I have only 110v electricity in the garage. No heat or air it's detached. Thank you!!!!

Hi Brian, I have learned a lot of great tips from your videos and wanted to thank you for your knowledge sharing. I unfortunately just had my truck keyed from the front fender all the way down too the middle of my truck bed yesterday by someone with a screwdriver. I painted the whole truck last fall after taking 11 weeks to take every panel, and bed off to do a frame up paint job. My question to you is, would you just repaint the whole side or just the scraches which goes down to the primer.
My 1st experience with a blending agent was (mistakenly) trying to melt away a clear coat hard line during the paint job. Got a huge base and clear sag mess outta it 😂 Btw, I like to clear half my spray out cards for color matching. Thanks for another informative video 👏
I just started doing bodywork and painting about four months ago. It can be very defeating at times. I kept having issues with runs this past week. I just keep trying because I know I'll get it down.
And that my friend is the main reason I don't use aerosol blenders anymore only time I melt a edge in noe is on clearcoat and I use a hot reducer in my gun after I dump leftover clear out
Hi Brian could I please get some advice. I sprayed clear on my car around 1:30 in the afternoon in my backyard and it came out really nice thanks to your videos and then I covered it with a blanket at sunset and then the next morning I took it off and realized the blanket stuck in some places on the roof and left sticky marks I tried to cut it back and polish it, but the marks are still there what should I do 😢
Bro I learn more from you than anyone on here .. Have you ever used the grex x4000? I can't find any videos about this spray gun. It looks like a lph 400 but listed as lvlp.
Great video and tutorial. What do you do if you replace a bumper and you need to change the colour of it to match the car? its a reddish brown bumper that needs to be black for a mitsubishi phev outlander.... do you have to remove all the paint and start again....? thanks

Hey brian, do you have any experience with the 1.5 clearcoat system? Seems like you're usually doing 2 coats, but my shop wants me doing a coats back to back to save on materials.
@PaintSociety if you could do a video on how you do the 1.5 coats that would be awesome. There's a few videos on TH-cam about it, but I feel like you'd do a better job explaining it. Which water based cleaner are you using to sand the runs? Is it spray away just in a sprayer ?
Thanks for an excellent educational video.
Glad it was helpful!
Had it happen 2x! Thanks for the vid tip
Big question do you use adhesion promoters for those type bumpers? I’ve never

Can you use the k600 or k800 in between clearcoat coats to remove trash similar to how you showed in between base coats?

Ask your supplier for red caps on that sra can, they have a wider fan pattern. The black caps will screw you over eventually, it puts out way to much
