Thank you very much Laura for sharing your experience and these tips with us. I couldn't agree more with the concept of just learn and adapt to how they are doing things within the organization. One company may want you to do certain steps of the process and not others or only use certain templates. Being flexible - within reason - of how they want their BA to be will really show that you care about meeting their business needs and have the ability to not just bring about change but adapt to it as well. (The "Make a positive impact" point hit home with me as my first project as a BA was one that I took over from someone else, and was already in development...fun times lol.)

It's incredibly important to be humble especially when working with a new business unit or client or customer. just because you've had a couple of successful projects in the past doesn't mean you're going to be able to sit in on one meeting with stakeholders and be able to design a project behind closed doors and deliver something in six months that they no longer need or want.

Most certainly not. Stakeholder engagement and buy-in is ALWAYS a critical aspect of the business analysis process.

Start my first job as a business analyst next month and i was sought by the director of the project. So I know I can do it based not her reasons for requesting I join, but I have a lot to learn and I'm quite nervous as most of the technical jargon escapes me. Thank you for the video. Going to be watching plenty more

    2. Understand the process and templates
    3. Know your stakeholders (Business and IT)
    4. How can you hit the ground running
    5. Bring in change (i.e. best practices, improvements), etc.

Hello, Could you make a video on what kind of questions one can ask at the end of a BA interview and what to mention to the interviewer to make a strong impression at the end of the interview.

Thanks for this suggestion! I will definitely consider it for future videos. In the meantime, we do have a blog post that addresses what questions to ask in a business analyst job interview. www.bridging-the-gap.com/help-a-ba-what-questions-should-a-ba-ask-in-a-job-interview/
