LC’s traditionally only get 230-250miles range. The workaround has been adding an aux tank, in previous gens you could add a 12.5gallon tank without relocating your spare. The new 250 already has a low hanging spare, so adding any tank means committing to a bumper or hitch mounted spare.
Ryan You have the best job in the world. Driving all new available vehicles. Tow amazing trailers like in this video, have fun and eperience amazing adventures. Great review. Greetings
I have been posting fuel tank shrinkage comments for the last ten years and people & creators always made fun of it! Enjoy your 200-mile range vehicle now! I'm glad I have 23-gal in my 2023 4Runner!
that's why most people outside US buy diesel versions. In Australia they also had extra 80-liter tank in place of spare tyre, which combines with diesel gives around 1000 miles range
100%. This is particularly disappointing with the new Sequoia. My GX460 had a larger tank than the 3rd gen Sequoia does. My LX570 has a 24.6 gallon tank and thats not even enough in some cases. There are places I pull my trailer where I need a 200+ mile range just to get in and back out to a gas station.
I tow a 3 tonne caravan of which I live in. I've never seen a hitch like that and am rather concerned that the drawbar is reliant on a bolt. The drawbar on my caravan has the swivel and the hitch fits over a spline on the towing vehicle . Awesome presentation and great scenery

I would be curious to see how that trailer rides further up the road (FR24) and onto one of the spurs that have several drainage ditches and is off camber. Nice job and thank you.
I have a similar trailer (Boreas XT) and a Toyota 4Runner Venture and man, it feels like it’s all that 4R can do to tow that camper. This video is great info for a potential Landcruiser owner.
I used to camp but I couldn't imagine spending $70k on a camper just to occasionally visit picturesque places. Same with some of the overlanding truck/vans that are like $150k, insane.

Can not believe all the bull you have to go through when towing with this SUV . Deal breaker ! But have a Silverado and simple simple ! Nice review though and enjoyed !
I must say I’m disappointed in Toyota for making such a complicated towing experience for those of us who regularly tow. I have a 5th gen 4Runner and just picked up a similarly spec'd trailer (Taxa Mantis)-it severely dropped my rear suspension-nearly on the bump stops. Seems like that isn't an issue with the Land Cruiser? Now I need to find a weight distribution hitch for a lock and roll setup... or airbags? 🤷🏻♂
Interesting. As I was wondering about how our 5th Gens. would compare. But I don't think I would have weight distribution issues. Just shift things around. At 3500 pounds, it is in our tow range.(assuming the Taxa Mantis is the same weight as what Ryan just towed)

Here in Norway we can just dream about the new LC after the taxes have increased significantly for all others than ev's, and will increase even more for 2025. Interesting to see your experiences versus the other channels. Looks like the LC is a capable towing vehicle, but that manual setup with all those technology features would get frustrating fast. Is that something Toyota can/will update in the future via software?
That trailer is cool as hell. Super disappointing about all the manual adjustments you need to make on the LC though. I have a '25 on order and that's really annoying.
A Diesel engine option would be the ideal power option. I’m not convinced that a higher strung 4 cylinder is the right approach first for longevity & reliability. What happens when you load up the Land Cruiser with 2 or 3 people throw a Cargo box on the roof and add gear. Ryan I would love to see a review of a Defender and this trailer and your opinion. Personally if I was in the market for a new SUV a new straight 6 Defender would be my first choice 📣
All the reasons you list are why the 3.4L in the GX/LX are a better option. These trucks are not small or light and a 2.4L is working to move it at speed.
Tow haul mode increases line pressure and changes shift points in your transmission and should ALWAYS be on while towing. Increasing the line pressure in the transmission causes the clutches to be gripped tighter. Less slip means less heat in your transmission. Less heat is the number 1 saver of transmissions. If you'd like to test this theory, accelerate hard in first gear, while towing a load, in tow haul and not. You will notice that your acceleration in tow haul will be faster. This is because increased line pressure modulates transmission slip.

One more comment. Oh no you actually said the dreaded phrase " I don't even feel it back thier " Trust me when your going 75mph on the highway going home in a crosswind with 250 lbs of stuff hanging on the back of your high clearance 10 foot tall trailer with a short wheelbase LC you will eat this words. They call them wobblies in Australia 😉
Too bad you can't use the lockers in 4 high. You probably would have made it up the rise instead of digging trenches. Those safety chains look like something you buy at the hardware store by the foot. Some great scenery and informative vidoe.
I don’t expect a great deal of mpg out of these new vehicles but at least be in the low 20s to 25 mpg.. It’s the hassle of refuelling on the road or off-road to me..
I love the camper and the idea of it Only thing I have to complain about in this video is the toyota I believe toyota, as a brand epically failed with their new generation vehicles especially the tacoma's 4runner tundra and land cruiser They have created a motor and transmission in hopes of better emissions and fuel economy and epically failed. Yes, the emissions may be better, but if the fuel economy is shit you have to fuel up more, which means more fuel consumption, more semi.Trucks on the road, delivering the fuel overall more of a loss then just crap emission They have managed to also make a more complicated yet less reliable vehicle they added a turbo to a four cylinder ,That's more parts being manufactured it has a complicated electrical system, even more parts that have to be replaced on top of it already being provingly unreliable transmissions, going out at a thousand miles. engines completely crapping out because of metal shavings ect they've caused more of a problem then they have fixed, if they would have stuck with the 4.0 or the 3.5 (its also a pretty good engine i dont think its as good as the older 3.4 but still) with a simple 5 or 6 speed trans i think the new generation would be great It would be a much needed interior refresh but with the same old reliable powertrain platform, that's why the saying of why change something that ain't broke came about... that's why I get tired of car review channels saying, "Oh, it's an old motor it's been around forever. A refresh would be nice exactly, it's been around forever why change something that just works even if it may be slightly worse in emissions, it's still going to save pollution from not breaking down as much less of them going to junkyards, because they're just simply to expensive to fix less parts needing to be made But anyway, this is just an opinion from a truck driver who travels the country
Ryan, do you think the fuel tank is something Toyota works to correct in the short/mid term, or is that more of a "maybe in the next generation" kind of a change? I love the LC and am thinking of getting one at some point but it would be kind of unfortunate to go to something that has a smaller tank than my Outback while being even thirstier.
I would be surprised if they change it anytime soon. But considering how many changes they just rolled into the GR Corolla anything as possible. I’m just not sure if they have room back there.
What’s the point of a 4 banger turbo when it gets the same gas mileage as a robust 6 cylinder would? For ease of maintenance and less complexity I’d take a non hybrid if there is no real fuel economy advantage. But I “get it” Toyota has to do this to beat government regulations smh
Usually your videos are light on music which I prefer, so it was pretty distracting when there's suddenly loud, "dramatic" music at around the 10:19 mark plus the 21:25 mark. Just seems overdone imho. I'm sure like most of your viewers, we don't need fancy music and actually prefer none. Just my two cents.

17-18mpg with e-load tires = approx 300 miles to empty.
I don’t expect a great deal of mpg out of these new vehicles but at least be in the low 20s to 25 mpg.. It’s the hassle of refuelling on the road or off-road to me..
No complaints on the MPG while towing. With AT tires and a load that’s not bad. Just needs a larger tank.
Off roading with a trailer. Looks like a lot of work. That big trailer is a hindrance.
Anyone know where he is camping!?
cmon that trailer costs more than the car... it's a car
What does " a ton" mean?
I think I would air down before locking diffs and busting out shovels.
Shoveling is much faster considering we only needed to go 20 feet.
Good point. I def get tired of sitting around waiting on my slow compressor.
Ryan! Shovel! 🙂
5:42 "there is a few more stuff" 🤣
Sorry...had to point that out lol. The Mammoth seems like a decent rig...just not for that price.
Yeah. 😂
I love the camper and the idea of it
Only thing I have to complain about in this video is the toyota
I believe toyota, as a brand epically failed with their new generation vehicles especially the tacoma's 4runner tundra and land cruiser
They have created a motor and transmission in hopes of better emissions and fuel economy and epically failed.
Yes, the emissions may be better, but if the fuel economy is shit you have to fuel up more, which means more fuel consumption, more semi.Trucks on the road, delivering the fuel overall more of a loss then just crap emission
They have managed to also make a more complicated yet less reliable vehicle they added a turbo to a four cylinder ,That's more parts being manufactured it has a complicated electrical system, even more parts that have to be replaced on top of it already being provingly unreliable transmissions, going out at a thousand miles. engines completely crapping out because of metal shavings ect they've caused more of a problem then they have fixed, if they would have stuck with the 4.0 or the 3.5 (its also a pretty good engine i dont think its as good as the older 3.4 but still) with a simple 5 or 6 speed trans i think the new generation would be great
It would be a much needed interior refresh but with the same old reliable powertrain platform, that's why the saying of why change something that ain't broke came about... that's why I get tired of car review channels saying, "Oh, it's an old motor it's been around forever. A refresh would be nice exactly, it's been around forever why change something that just works even if it may be slightly worse in emissions, it's still going to save pollution from not breaking down as much less of them going to junkyards, because they're just simply to expensive to fix less parts needing to be made
But anyway, this is just an opinion from a truck driver who travels the country
Ryan, do you think the fuel tank is something Toyota works to correct in the short/mid term, or is that more of a "maybe in the next generation" kind of a change? I love the LC and am thinking of getting one at some point but it would be kind of unfortunate to go to something that has a smaller tank than my Outback while being even thirstier.
I would be surprised if they change it anytime soon. But considering how many changes they just rolled into the GR Corolla anything as possible. I’m just not sure if they have room back there.
I get 380-400 miles per tank in my stock 1958. That’s plenty
No they won't. Best bet will be the after market or getting those clip on gallons
You should be in tow haul + with that weight
With the price of that camper you can buy another landcruiser, the cost of that camper is insane
New land cruiser should tow fuel tanker instead. Laughable range even compares to EV...Toyota,why?
Well looks like towing is best woth a pickup truck.. i cant wven feel a trailer of similar size offroading mountain trails with f150..
“Off Roading” 3%
Time spent driving the highway 97% 🗿
17mpg's on a 4cyl Hybrid? Prius is rolling over in its grave.
The Prius also uses the Atkinson cycle which plays a major role.
I wish the TB came with AC for $72k!
What’s the point of a 4 banger turbo when it gets the same gas mileage as a robust 6 cylinder would? For ease of maintenance and less complexity I’d take a non hybrid if there is no real fuel economy advantage. But I “get it” Toyota has to do this to beat government regulations smh
see the nathan adler method works mooooomentum
very cool...
👏🏼🙌🏽👏🏼
18mpg with a 4 cylinder hybrid is crazy my f150 gets better mileage
I was averaging just under 18 in my 2014 F150 Ecoboost supercrew 6.5' bed with 315/70R17's 🤣
“We bought it for the channel as a long term tester”, a business expense disclaimer for the IRS.
Sure but he DOES have a car review channel seemingly as a full time job.
*Exactly why my channel is converting to a Gun Channel! Taxes!*
nice id buy one..... but Toyota ships to the so California sales region 1958 LC lot bs opts and than the dealer installed junk
Wow, I'd rather just pull the trailer by hand - my goodness, leave it to Toyota :) :) :)
What vehicle towing anything is goig to give you "stellar" mpg? and not an EV!
23:05 TLDR
the placement of these toyota wiring harness plugs under the car are pretty bad and seem susceptible to breakage offroad.
Love the camper but a little pricey......
