Finally, a Cybertruck in the hands of someone who actually understands EVs inside and out!
That’s funny… Jason did an amazing job. This was…. Meh.
I would guess there is a lot of vetting by Tesla as well as a lot of stipulations that a reviewer must follow to get a vehicle from Tesla before it's widely available. Even if someone doesn't necessarily break their agreement, Tesla can always not send future vehicles if they don't like what the reviewer said. Many companies will also want to review the video before it's posted and can add language to the agreement that a reviewer can't post the video if they don't give the okay first. I obviously have no idea about any of the specifics regarding this particular video and have only heard of this practice regarding other EV products that were mentioned on a podcast.
@@lanceareadbhar No vetting by Tesla or any other manufacturers on this channel's videos. Kyle and his team show the good the bad and the ugly results unfiltered.
@@GET2222 For an infomercial.
He is a fair reviewer, not a God.

I would absolutely date a guy like Kyle who finds endless entertainment from wanting to the know every detail inside and out of the cars he drives.
Shoutout to Francie for putting up with this beast and also the Cybertruck

Lol
2 hours and no drink, Kyle is the Energizer bunny of EV reviews....keeps going and going and going...
And outside in the freeze...😂
@@andrewshin8707 ...but it looks cool with the lightning in the background. 😆
He drank the Kool-aid a long time ago 😂
These things are strictly for nerds and enthusiasts only. No normal person is interested in spending $100k for an overly complicated , not very practical, weird looking, Elonmobile.
And your job is to define „normal“? Who gave you that job?
No notes, just spitting facts nonstop! Your depth of knowledge on all things EV is extraordinary.
Basic summary is, they suck.
He is a genius with EV's. Although I really don't think 700 amps is a slow charge. I am not very familar with all the modern technologies in car charging. But as an electrician, there is a major problem; there is not nearly enough power in the grid to charge multiples of 700 amp, 400 volt car chargers.
Consider that a house is normally 200 amps, 240 volts. The largest houses with multiple large garages will take 600 amps, 240 volts.
Every car charger is equal to about 3 standard houses of power consumption; and actually houses generally use very little power except during certain peak loads. Elon has said that the grid needs to be expanded by 300% at the minimum, in the next several years, in order to accommodate EV's.
But you cannot just triple the grid, because the grid is limited by the wires on the power poles, and you cannot just triple the main feeder wires.
You have to basically build a whole new grid, or tear down the existing grid and rebuild it. OR--the utilities will come up with a new method of generating power. I think that the 3rd option is the only viable option, because tripling the grid is not practical.
Indeed
Protect this man at all cost! So impressive to be able to make this video so long yet so impressive, interesting and up to tempo!
"I'm not here to make the cyber truck look good" - truer words have never been spoken. Thanks for keeping it real Kyle.
The amount of spicy, nerdy, 1hr+ long videos coming from this is going to be absolutely ridiculous. And I'll be watching every single one of them.
More than twice!!!
Agreed
I will too. Might fall asleep at some point

2h video, that is insane commitment to the job!🎉
Big respect to the person doing the camera work - apology, forgot her name. Free hand, yet amazingly stable and controlled. Great stuff.
10 to 15 videos! just on CyberTruck?!
yes please!🎉🍿❤
Way to crank this out! Hope you’re able to take a day off/sleep for 24 hours straight after all this stuff you’re doing with the Cybertruck. Great work!

I have been years for this video. Kyle is the right person to review the cyber truck. He know what he talking about and my go to person when i recommend people who are interested in EV. The Odds us Kyle has a review or first impression. Keep up the work. I am still waiting for mine to be deliver
Heartfelt thanks for arranging and doing this! You are known for no pernicious bias and I know many content providers will take snippets of this for their own podcasts but you have my full attention on this series. I really wish you had access to one of the aerodynamic trailers so that your range tests would also answer for me the question of which lightweight rv to buy (or make) to complement my cybertruck. I am impressed with the polydrops trailers which were the result of extensive wind tunnel testing with the model 3. I would also like to consider a harbor freight 9.5w inverter generator instead of the added battery to take on my maiden trip to Alaska when mine becomes available in a couple of years. Thanks again.
Pls, like to get in top

Thanks, you rock! It’s hard to watch the whole thing…lots of repeats.
Kyle: How would you describe it, Francie? It's almost like we can't!
Francie: um-
Kyle: The amount of people...
Let her get a word in, dude! 😂
Nobody reviews a vehicle better than Kyle. Nobody!
Thank you so much for this first ever very thorough and detailed Cybertruck review.
watched the whole 2 hours and loved every minute, thanks for such an indepth and unbiased review! Been waiting for one since it came out
This is the cybertruck review we have been waiting for! Thanks Kyle!
This is the most valuable video to date about the Cybertruck, thank you for the thorough deep-dive Kyle. Lots to think about, and lots of feedback value to Tesla and the innovative EV industry and community as a whole. Cheers!!!
Finally! I'm so glad you got your hands on one. I can't wait to see the actual numbers on how this vehicle stacks up and how we could expect it to perform.
Will blow competition away be ready. Dozens owners spread out love I and outruns a porche towing a porce
I rarely comment on TH-cam, but this review is really good! It’s super refreshing to have someone talk about the vehicle, who truly understands it’s technical details. Thanks for making this so detailed and keep it up!
Great job, thank you for such a detailed tour! I think the reason for blindside warnings in A-pillar is just incase owners will decide to take off side mirrors...since its pretty easy to do.
INCREDIBLE video. Thank you to all who put the work in. Nobody has content like this and "yes" I did watch the whole thing!
You are the ONLY one to inform us about the sound system. THANK YOU!!!!!
Interesting to see the tonneu cover doesn't get wiped at all when stowed... wondering if it has dirt and snow on it where does that end up? assuming it drains to the ground from it's stowaway. or even what would happen if you accidentally left something valuable on it and opened it? can whatever you left on it somehow be recovered or is it permanently sucked into the abyss?
Good question, i wonder the same.
I believe Elon himself has confirmed valuables do indeed end up in the abyss.
There is a camera that photographs valuables before they are sucked into the abyss, then they eventually end up on eBay.
Kept in a spot close to the battery so when it bursts into flames, there’ll be readily available kindling
The review we all needed. Thanks man!
You are the best. I have learned so much from you in the past two months. Thank you for keeping the videos going.
Finally a review from someone who knows what they are talking about when it comes to the technical aspects! Excellent review, can't wait for the other videos.
this is a great video, I love this channel. always good all around review
Great review. Thank you. We all waiting for our cybertruck to explore it, this helps a lot. Also in regards to aftermarket parts, Unplugged Performance has some awesome parts, including a spare tire mount to the rear bumper and grid for more accessories to attach inside the bed. Great job 👍
I like the unbiased review in terms of allowing the viewer the decide if this toy truck is right for them or not.
Minor correction. The 120v in the bed are 5-20 outlets. 20 amp instead of 15.
Also the wiper is 120w, not 1000w
@@ScottBuscemi The VP of vehicle engineering at Tesla said it was between 600 and 800w
@@TRcakeNINJA He corrected himself in a follow up tweet saying he misspoke.
Wow what a great video, Kyle always goes crazy with cars the first time in them. But I can't wait to see the driving and off road.
Best review I’ve seen so far. Very detailed and useful. Great job 👏🏼
Buy some Noico or Dynamat to put on the underside of that frunk to both make the ride even quieter and also insulate the frunk better against temperature. (doing so reduces HVAC consumption too) You can actually see the temperature differential of the support structure behind the frunk hood in the rain patterns in some of your shots.
Kyle really is becoming the king of car reviews.
Kyle - Lars corrected the power draw on wiper motor and its like 120w ~ roughly and not the 1kwh that was initially said. Post is on X where he corrected.
Thanks for getting this out so quickly. Great content, can't wait to see charging.
The issue with the wireless charging isn’t that HVAC makes it more efficient, it is that the charging coils don’t line up well with the phone coils. In addition, the hump from the camera lenses causes it to be not flat. They need to add MagSafe and have a way to elevate the charging coils slightly so the phone lays flat to actually fix the issue and get good charging speed.
the layer of material between the coil and the outside is also pretty thick. I almost exclusively wireless charge by Samsung at home, but in the Model Y and 3, any time I tried to charge in the car I have to almost push the phone onto the area to get it to activate (I do have a case, but its relatively thin and it doesn't cause any issue on ordinary chargers)
all this to say, yeah the Tesla wireless phone charger suck for other phones too
Fast wireless charging works perfectly even though cases on all android phones, sounds like an Iphone issue.
I've never had issues with wireless charging in the past 10 years
Two questions: You called the 120v outlets NEMA 5-15, but they have the horizontal blade that would normally make them 5-20 outlets. Can they put out 16 amps? Are they tied together or can you get 16 amps out of each one simultaneously or is it 16 amps total on the 120v circuits? Second, on the NEMA 14-50, can you please put a voltmeter on the outlet and see if there is a neutral as well as the two "hot" connections? If there is a neutral that measures 120v from the hot to that neutral on the 14-50, then that plug might be able to tie from the truck to a home's power panel on a manual lower-power basis to power a home that doesn't have all the expensive automatic interface hardware...
1:39:04 not to be pedantic, but Kyle says NEMA 5-20 here
He did correct himself.
If it doesn't have a center tap/neutral then I would expect that at least some devices plugged into said outlet wouldn't work. Accordingly, I would assume that the neutral prong is functional.
GREAT VIDEO!! Love all the detail you have done and the best part, NO COMMERCIALS, Thank-You!!
talk about being crazy enough to watch this whole thing, some sections twice, I never knew I could be such a nerd about this, a totally entertaining enthusiastic "performance" all around. Eager to see my place on the waiting list approach. Thank you for all your programs (and attitude, and altitude).
From initial impressions it feels they have nailed everything except the 4680s which I hope they will improve it iteratively.
4680s, "world's cheapest bestest in-house cells, 2.0" are key to the success of Cybertruck, Semi Truck and Roadster.
The specs promised: 500 mi, 500 mi @60 mph @ max load, 200 kWh, just are not possible with their barely 300 Wh/kg cells. It takes 500 Wh/kg, and might marginally work with 450 Wh/kg.
Elon scribbled something on a napkin and they went with that for 5 years, it seems. He knows more about manufacturing than anyone alive, after all... Imagine a Roadster with 200 kWh if they could only get 123 kWh in this truck and some 50 kWh extra with the extender. But in a Model 3 sized sports car....also weighing 6600 lbs. Pure insanity to promise 200 kWh when Elon previously said no car needed more than 400 miles, 100 kWh. The promised of 1.9 0-60 has now been met by a Lucid Air the same price as the hyped Spartan New Roadster, but that one's 118 kWh or so, about what's practical unless 3 tons is cool for you. It would be laughably bad on track with 3 tons, let alone harder to make "fly" with those Space X boosters promised.
The way Tesla builds cards houses of promises is really disconcerting. And now also various choices which can only take away road safety. Long list there.
@@CloxxkiLol ramping new battery using dry processe is hard... how is Ultium from GM? Pouch cell is gen1... they are working on old tech. How is solid state battery from Toyota or hydrogen? So many false promises that don't get your attention, ah right, that is not popular and they are not really worth mentioning. SpaceX is almost monopolizing the space launch. Falcon 9 has been working hard for the past 5+ years, yet reusable technology has goes unchallenged. China is doing it best to copy. Others startup are still in development phrase.
@@nguyep4 Ramping is hard yes...but the issue with 4680 is that they don't have the tech figured out yet. Even tho they said they did back in 2020. it was a lie.
@@heyitstim3618 It will get better in time. With every new product, there's a learning process.

Kyle you guys killed it. Well done with showing the details of the CT. Unlike many reviewers detailing vehicles, I loved this review.
That was amazing. Thanks for letting us geek out with you!
So glad I subscribed!
Fantastic video as always. Keep them coming!
I think the car seat idea is great! And I suggest you keep them so you can use them in future vehicle reviews. Seeing how two to three fit alongside another is super helpful for families! 😊

Great video. Can't wait till the rest on this Cybertruck series.
This is the most details I have been able to find online so far about the cybertruck. Great video guys! Looking forward to more. You've got a new subscriber! :)
Wohooo..almost 2 hr content. Gonna plan it during the day !!

Watched the whole thing, thanks For posting
An excellent initial walk through of the Cybertruck, you were thorough as usual Kyle.
Glad we’re getting the real Cybertruck coverage!
So interesting that at 1:01:06 when Kyle opens the door with the window fully down, once the door pops open, the window raises ever so slightly and looks to make the shape of a Cybertruck
Went back to check it out. So true! Clever little CT brand marker by Tesla. Shrewd observation!
By far the best CT video. I’ve been waiting for this video. Thanks for all the education 🙏
High energy honest review . The blue surround lighting is so pleasing , feck I'd buy it just for that alone.
That reference to Michelob Ultra was next level for anyone who watched the Tour de France coverage over the years. Ultimate douchebag market in those ads at every commercial break...."My body tells me nooooo....." LOL. Thanks Kyle!
Ultras are delicious
Would be interested in knowing how the distance sensing works when backing up with tail gate down. Situation where Ultrasonic sensors are needed. Ford has a camera on top of their tailgate on some models. If vault cover was down, no rear view at all. (Hauling plywood sheets, etc..)
Kyle you were just reference in Business Insider as the most comprehensive review of the cybertruck to date! Congrats!!! The masses will be here soon. It’s well deserved. For anyone knew check out all the outlets. Kyle is not new being doing this for a longtime. I’ll continue to watch. FYI check out the ev9 review too
Thanks to the owner and you guys for the awesome video!
Great camera work. What a pro.
Thanks so much for posting such a detailed video. Many of us have been very excited to see YOUR coverage of this crazy thing!
Question for Q&A: Any chance you can park this next to a Model Y and as many other EV's as possible? Maybe an Ioniq 5 and an EV6.
Great video as always Kyle and team!
Like ta see it on top of a Ionia 5 hummer or lightning
Awesome video. In depth for sure!!!
Nice walkthrough...llooking forward to the next videos !
So excited for this video, absolutely the most knowledgeable EV reviewer I’ve ever watched!!
1:25:32 what the heck are these random images between the frames?
Looks like some guy in one of them. Maybe some dev images that may be cached? But looks like some guy in a room. Creepy
@outofspecreviews
I thought its 1hr for some reason and now I see I watched for almost two! amazing thank you for the video
Keep them coming Kyle.
It looks like the front pillars above your head are really narrow. Do taller people have trouble getting in the front because of the A frame build?
Will you please measure, on the interior, the distance between the door panels. Measure from passenger interior door panel, to drivers interior door panel. I want to see if the interior space is as wide as an f150.
This is the CT video we were all waiting for!
Watched until the end! Can't wait to order my own. Subbed for more content. Especially car seat stuff!
Great job Kyle! I watched this in 2X speed. So much great information to take in.
Since the DC fast charging is split and the range extender battery is expensive and takes up bed and payload, an option for a second charge port on the other side might be interesting. Then you could charge using two DC pedestals at 400V for faster charging. Since most of the hardware to allow such a feature might already be present just need the second charge port, maybe some additional hardware and firmware changes? I would say about 40% of my Tesla DC fast charging sessions have only myself and maybe one other vehicle.
Tesla's not going to let Cybertruck owners hog two stalls at once at chargers. That would be wild tho...
Man i cant wait to get mine!
I finally saw a Cybertruck in person today, very nice! Can’t wait to get mine.
In all the videos I’ve seen on the CT I haven’t heard anything said about how you attach a snow plow which in the north is standard equipment for pickups. Any idea how how that will work?
You don't. It is a unibody.
Thanks so much for putting this together!!!

I came here just to read the comments because I'm not going to watch a two hour video even at 2x lol
The video series everyone has been waiting for!
Love the nerd stuff! Thanks and looking forward to the next few videos!
In future testing please cover how the 48v aux power works. Does the Cybertruck automatically step down voltage to 12v for 12v accessories? Will owners have to wire in a 48v to 12v converter to use standard accessories?
I would imagine, like many new vehicles, it doesn't even have the 12v cigarette lighter port. Luckily, USB C to 12v cigarette lighter adapters exist.
There's one power converter for all voltages. Mentioned in the Sandy Munro factory tour.
Over 50% larger battery than the Model Y, so you SHOULD expect better nominal charging. However, with consumption about double...road trips are going to take some patience. Anyway, full is around 340 miles at 50-55 mph. At 70 mph...250 mi or less. Charging to 60% on a route paved with hyperchargers for minimum travel time, going down to 10% for safety...you're left with 125 mi of perfect conditions range. 80 mph in winter...100 mi stints if lucky.
Looking forward to seeing it off-road!
Awsome nerdy video. My favorite is "going full Audi mode". Looking forward to the next. Thanks so much for the effort
The interior radar has been used on the Model S and X refresh. It doesn’t show up on service mode for those though. While exactly what it does isn’t well documented, I have noticed that placing my toddler in her car seat and then closing the door keeps the MCU active and climate control turned on. This is with her seat set to “car seat mode” which causes it to ignore the occupancy sensor for it and not show seatbelt alerts, note that the actual seatbelt is always connected. I have also noticed that moving my arm over the passenger seat triggers a seatbelt alert on it, even with no weight on the seat.
I just figured it out in another comment. It's a "Stupid TH-camr" mode. So that way if someone tries something really stupid like putting a few bags of potatoes in the driver's seat, then hopping into the back seat, while it's self driving, the radar can detect there's no human there.
Should have a cybertruck rescue the cybertruck during the range test :)
Amazing. Thanks mate
you’re a legend, Kyle!
