A couple observations now that I'm done... My crush washers were triangular as yours were. The washer size is M10x16x1mm. I went through 3 to 4 cans of Brakleen, a roll or two of paper towels as they shred, and numerous changes of nitrile gloves throughout the process. I also utilized my gun cleaning brushes as I found it easier to clean the caliper than my larger caliper wire brush. I painted mine in my basement as it was only 60 degrees. That said, I didn't have any issues with the paint thickening up prematurely, however the fumes gave me a headache! I painted the inside and outside as well as the rear brake brackets. That said, after my first 2 complete coats, I am uncertain if I could have pulled off the third coat. Instead, I utilized 2 kits, and applied a total of 4 coats total. With 4 coats, most of the rear brake dimpling subsided, and appeared a lot smoother. Another take away, don't over paint. Let the paint do it's job and settle. I found by "over" painting it and going over what was just painted a second ago, you just disturb the self leveling affect, and the chances for increased brush strokes emerge.
For future reference you don't have to cap the lines or deal with brake fluid leaking out while you reinstall them. Just install a bleeder tube to one caliper, open the bleeder screw, press the brake peddle to the floor and hold it there with something like a piece of 2x4 . If you have power seats you can just find a good spot and just use the power rake to depress and hold the pedal. With the brake pedal fully depressed no fluid will drip from the lines and you can work at a leisurely pace with no worries of your brake system getting air in it or getting brake fluid everywhere, and you don't have to bother with rubber stoppers.
Great video with a lot of detail, but you kind of over complicated the beauty of the G2 process. The effort you went through to pull the calipers is best for powder coating. I'm a huge G2 fan, I've done 4 different cars and the whole purpose of the product is you don't have to do all this. You can paint the calipers on the car in 4 hours, have your wheels back on a few hours later and drive the next day with amazing long lasting results.
Thanks for watching. Indeed sometimes I bring out too many details, but remember I was pulling calipers for multiple reasons - especially the rears. I agree though, if you don't have other work to do - on the car is enough. Although I'm still glad I didn't have to have my head in the wheel well all that time. :)
Hey brotha, love your car. It is sexy as hell. I appreciate that you do all of your mods yourself. I have an ATS and have done all my performance mods myself. I haven’t done any cosmetic mods yet, but this looks very interesting. But where i live in so cal, I can get a homie to powder coat them for a very reasonable price and donut right. But, I respect that you took the time to do it on your own and with proper care. That is not easy and you did a good job doing it. That’s why I like watching your channel. Keep up the good work and inspiration.
I really like the thickness of the G2. VHT chipped in the past but right now it's holding well on that bracket. Even after a track day. I know a lot of people paint the bracket same color as caliper but something about it makes me think it looks less detailed. Personal preference.
How did they hold up to the brake fluid when you reattached the calipers onto the car? I've heard the brake fluid can really jack up the newly painted caliper. So some find it better to keep calipers attached and paint them on the car.
Just fine. The epoxy paint is very resistant to brake fluid. However the instructions state something about them starting with low resistance until they cure. I had no issues but mine cured for 24 hrs or more before install
Sorry for the late reply! I had them off for some projects...well ok I broke them, but you've probably seen in a more recent video that they are back on!
I think I'll go with the 4 piston Cadillac Brembo setup. All 4 wheels in Red popping out from my Radiant Silver Metallic Ride. I'm in the I.E. any suggestions on who can do this complete work. I don't mind leaving my car with a Professional to get it done. 🙏
JetFuelOnly, If the copper washer gets stuck like that instead of using a visegrips to break the copper crush washer from the banjo bolt take a small dead blow hammer or a regular hammer and tap on the end of the treaded banjo bolt to break the washer free while holding the other end of the brake line as you are tapping it out. That's what I would of done it.
I'm running 18" wheels on my ATS But can it take 19" wheels without Rubbing 🤔 anywhere like full U turns and dips into the wheel wells. 225x40R18 on all four.
That’s the width of your wheel. Offset is how much the wheel is designed to set inward toward the suspension or out toward the fender. You should have no problem fitting a 245 (and likely wider) tire with the correct offset
Can you fill us in on the correct way? I followed all instructions. I also mentioned that people can learn from my mistakes in this video. Only improved feedback I have received is to use different brushes for less brush strokes.
Lack of knowledge of what? I know how great it is, but didn't have a convenient way of getting it done as this is my only car. I love my powder coated wheels.

As a car content creator, I recognize how much effort you put into this video. Nice work man. I subscribed AND watched the entire video😎
Thanks! I’ll check out your channel
@@JetFuelOnlyThanks! I hope you like it. Obviously some of my content is better than others. I hope you pick a winner! 😂
Great work. They look awesome. Pouring water immediately over the brake fluid spills will neutralise it and save your paint.
Thanks for the tip!
Looks good buddy nice work good follow through attention to the actual work cleaning and masking, you did the car proud bravo 👏
Videos are amazing! Recently found this channel looking for upgrades on my 14 ats. Great channel 💪🏼
Ryan Garza thanks Ryan!
Thanks for another great vid!
Can't wait for spring to give this a try

Thanks, I didn't discover that method until after this procedure. I already have a link to that procedure in the description.
Love the detail... including your narration... thanks!!

Thanks man! Awesome you have a good powder coating source. Totally the way to go!
Dishwasher for cleaning stuff like this. It's the only thing I use mine for.
Nice video, thanks.
How did the decals hold up without putting clear coat over them?
Decals are fine! However the paint has chipped in a few places. I say go powder coating!
@@JetFuelOnly Thanks for the info :)
Thanks for all these vids bro
TOP MARKS MATE 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I love the wheels!
What are they?
I have a 2017 CTS 2.0 it have the V sport package it has 18" now I think 19" would look better?
thanks! Rohana RF2X. I had them custom powder coated for the color though
How did the paint and decals hold up over time?
Decals great. Paint has some chips from wear but nothing noticeable until you get within 3 feet of
Which color red did you go with? I am on the fence with the G2 mustang torch red, vs the regular red.
Regular red, I don't perfectly remember but I thought the Mustang was a little more orange? I may be mistaken
Awesome videos, why didn't you paint the rear brake bracket red? Would you recommend G2 over VHT paint? Where's your video on bleeding brake system?
I really like the thickness of the G2. VHT chipped in the past but right now it's holding well on that bracket. Even after a track day. I know a lot of people paint the bracket same color as caliper but something about it makes me think it looks less detailed. Personal preference.

Great video, I noticed that you did not have your front splitter and side skirts. What happened to them?
Sorry for the late reply! I had them off for some projects...well ok I broke them, but you've probably seen in a more recent video that they are back on!
great vid. This G2 red color seems quite orange. Is that just my stupid monitor or is it more orange than it is red?
It’s bright red but definitely not orange. I would like it a little closer toward my TH-cam logo avatar color but it’s not far off

Ship them off to Powder Garage. I think he’s in Tx, might even have some he can ship and trade for your cores. Look for them on FB.

Well that seems like a simple idea now…. Haha thanks
nice video brother. what is the color of this rim it is fire.
It's called Ultra Black Chrome - powder coating from Prismatic Powders
I'm running 18" wheels on my ATS But can it take 19" wheels without Rubbing 🤔 anywhere like full U turns and dips into the wheel wells. 225x40R18 on all four.
Rubbing is dependent on width and offset. If you go 19s you gotta sacrifice tire sidewall height.
@@JetFuelOnly 8.5 offset is what my 225x40R18 are now hopefully they won't Rub with 19's
That’s the width of your wheel. Offset is how much the wheel is designed to set inward toward the suspension or out toward the fender. You should have no problem fitting a 245 (and likely wider) tire with the correct offset
@@JetFuelOnly The offset is 8.5
Either you have a very unique wheel setup of the number is incorrect. Appropriate offset should be around 25-40
Great vid !👍🏽👍🏽
great video!
What brand are your wheels?
Rohana RFX2
What about clear coating?
No clear coating necessary with this system. I’m not sure how it would go.
What brand are the wheels
Rohana. RF2
Thanks
@@JetFuelOnly What offset did you go with? I see +35 and +53.
You applied so incorrectly.
