MrBossFTW sorry I don’t have a video but I went to the Native American burial site and encountered something strange I didn’t know if you encountered this specifically but when I got my revolver out I shot the animal and human skulls a few times the weather would turn rainy the the sky got lighter but as soon as I shit again the sky got way darker and started pouring then it seems the same thing happens if you countinue the process

*sigh* You need to keep playing the honorable path if you want something material. Then if Jean Marc hears of stories of some outlaws performing heroic deeds, he'll randomly contact you and send you gifts. That's how being honorable works, by not a desperately poor loser. Just like in real life.

Quick answer: when you let him live you get honor and he’ll sent you a letter saying he’s mayor and when you go to the mansion you’ll get wanted for trespassing.
Would have been nice if it had been a pardon letter like you used to get in RDR1 so you would t have to pay a bounty for one future offence in St Denis

If Jean-Marc is killed:, a thank you letter will be received in a few days from Lemieux, and the player will get 10% off in all shops in Saint Denis. However, this will result in a minor Honor loss.
If Jean-Marc is spared:, he will promise to never mention anything to the newspapers and run off into the distance (this will also result in a boost of the player's Honor). Wait a few days and there will be a letter from the new mayor waiting at the post office saying that Henri Lemieux has resigned from his position as Mayor of Saint Denis.

Jean-Marc also eventually becomes Mayor himself (if you don’t kill him, obviously).

In my second playthrough, I just couldn't kill him. The scene reminded me too much of Arthur realising what Dutch had become.
I felt so bad for him, he was just a good guy trying to do the right thing.

All you have to do is go fishing then keep releasing the fish to regain your honor. I just read on Red Dead Fandom about the protagonist regrets sparing Jean Marc. They write about it in their journal. Hell I never killed him, because who cares about the 10% discount really? That black Arabian horse is very nice! Who cares if you can get $100 cheaper anyways. The next time I play, guess I have to kill Jean Marc for his sin deluded vanity. The mayor in hindsight isn't really a bad guy, for wanting the best for Saint Denis, just how he approaches it is what is off about him. I'm sure if he could deal with things more like how Jean wanted to he would, but fake paintings doesn't make your city an ideal tourist attraction. No I don't agree with the lies, but the mayor & the city is like a parent & child relationship. You do anything you can to provide for your child, just like he's doing everything he can to make the city great & attractive to tourists, and locals, & etc.. it's all about the $$$$

Don't sweat missing the 10% discount. If you are going an 'honorable' play through, you'll have a 10% discount just from having your honor high everywhere, not just Saint Denis.
You can kill him and get ur honor back up and get a discount on top of it

He doesn't actually disappear he jumps the wall I followed, he says you're a good man, follow him all around town, all the way to the braithwaite manor, up to Rhodes, where he steals a horse, and says now leave me alone, takes off on the horse, I follow. He says I will do gods work. He rides the horse back to the main bridge into Saint Denis then turns around, and heads north to Eris field, where I lost him as the game would now allow my horse to keep up with his.

On my last playthrough I killed jean marc and a few days later in game arthur made a journal entry that said the mayor charged him for jean Marc's death
I wanted to see which choice seems better for Arthur and seems like the mayor will stab you in the back if you kill Jean mark thanks lol
I spared him and followed him as he ran away, he just runs away into the swamps. No trap door, no magicians tricks. He just runs.
I know everyone gets mad that these videos are so long, but when you missed the mission these are a really good catch up on what happened. I agree, not much ever happens to solve the out comes in most of these, but these are good videos for the people that never did the mission.

If you complete this story before dealing with the Indians, I wonder if the outcome there is different as well. Because the Chief is told by the soldier helping them that he spoke to the Mayor and council that nothing will change and he’s sorry. Perhaps if this is done before and the crooked Mayor is gone, the Indian timeline will change?

I think it's depending on play style. By the time you get to ch 6 there is more than enough money for Arthur already. Especially given the fact that he knew he'd die soon after and a bit extra money from discounts, at that point, doesn't really matter anymore.
And by the way Marc is against violence and strongly disapprove Arthur since the beginning. To be associated with Arthur even remotely would be the last thing he'd do. It understanable.
You can also do this in the prologue with john and it has different dialog throughout the mission
the disturbed one it’s actually the epilogue. The prologue was at the start btw

I hope he reads this just to make him mad. I click on his videos when I have a specific question about red dead every now and then and every time I click his video, I pause at the one second mark and look in the comments for the actual answer. I give him one second of watch time and it makes me happy his ploy to get more money didn’t work 😁
if I had three dreams in red dead 2 it would be that arthur would stay alive and that you could robbed any bank without it being a mission and the game never end the missions

Anyway you always end up with way too much money so I say the 10% discount once you kill doesn't have much meaning.

He doesnt dissapear. He ran down the wall behind the trees and you didnt see him. I followed him down the trees and be hops the wall and runs to the left into the swamps and just keeps running away from Aurthor no matter what.
He goes running out through the back, I saw him running along the river bank at full clip.

I'll save you the time. Let him live and he keeps his promise of outing the crooked mayor and takes his place as an honourable one. You find this out in a letter.

Actually you can shoot him once, he limps after, follow him and corral him anywhere. Then crossed one of those southerners families private property/ they started shooting, still couldn't aim/kill Jean Marc, then got on my horse and trampled him to death, no looting option, still got the thank you letter from him after
I never bothered answering the mayor's first letter. I was obviously sick by then anyways, so he wasn't getting anything out of ne.
If you did his mission you get to spare Jean Marc and he becomes the mayor. Plus his other missions are just about threatening people and not actually killing anyone (except Jean but you can decide not to.)
if u kill him, and throw the body at the river, come back later to fishing at the area of the body u throw. u will get a human body part and arthur dialogue like ''oh jean, is that you'' (cant remember the dialogue, but something like that)
Don't forget that this was the same man who slap that poor nun in the Mayor Garden Party, for being "different" he may not be that racist but, he's one of the dose who look down on lower class. So don't feel too sorry for this guy.

I'm pretty sure I got a book that gives me a specific perk for saving his life. Maybe I'm wrong. That may have been a different mission for the mayor.
I actually got the letter even though I killed him. It may have been a glitch or something but I hope I’m not the only one that experienced this.
I followed Jean Marc after sparing him, he ran behind some trees to the lake in the back then kept running along the shore

If you go back to Jean Marcs house after sparing him, there will be a case of beer on his porch that you can drink, just like at the main camp.

In my gameplay (Xbox 1) @cyclicoregano79 btw anyways jean-Marc runs up the steps and stops at the back door but still tries running through the door. There is a bit a of dialogue. You can’t lasso or shoot him either. If you kill him and go fishin behind the house you can snag on his arm and real him in and there is some dialogue before you toss his arm back in.

I just learned that you can do this after chapter four did these missions in epilogue
If you have a bounty in lemoyne, it removes your bounty
I spared him, and then follow him with my horse. And make him run towards swamp and to the water. Nudge him a bit so he fell in the water, then suddenly an alligator ate him. So that's how you can kill him without honor lost and still get the thank you letter. You get to kill him but do justice as well. Minus the discount ofc.

If you kill him then return to the water to fish you will get a bite but instead you have caught his arm
