Ngl, after my recent breakup, I came back across this song, and 2:16 to the end is really what I needed to hear. It’s beautiful how many ways a song can reach out to people in their darkest times.

I love how this song seems like Showing understanding of other's feelings Insulting Sharing common ground/Empathy Insulting Making the song about oneself Getting other to open up Sharing common ground/ Empathy Encouragement Sharing common ground/ Empathy / Encouragement
I love how Husker is probably the only one who could reach Angel, because his approach isn't "you're a good person and you just don't know it yet". His approach is just admitting "yeah, you're at the bottom right now, it sucks. But if you give up, you're just going to keep losing".
yes yes thank you !!! angel needs someone to meet him in his own world, imagine if husk were like "oh noo ur not a loser no bbg 🥺🥺❤️❤️ ur doin ur best here" trying to convince him wrong and shit and how laughable it'd be esp knowing they're both literal addicts enslaved in hell for eternity?? "you say you fucked it all up for yourself and maybe you did but we still chillen and i care about you just as much either way" is genuinely such a powerful and unconditionally accepting message to send to someone in comparison to "your self-opinion is wrong and if you were correct then i wouldn't even be here for you right now" and i love that the show uses that kind of philosophy to deal with these issues. i can't think of a better way to address someone's self loathing honestly.
If Husker wasn't there Angel probably wouldn't have his redeeming qualities that he has now. I would even dare say Husker did more for him than Charlie did, that's not for a lack of trying or care on her part but Husker was just able to relate to him better on a personal level
@@dantemiles689that’s kind of Charlie’s whole point, that these people CAN get better if enough people who WANT TO HELP EACH OTHER get together in one place. But! Don’t forget, Charlie and Vaggie are the reason why Husked went after Angel to begin with, Husker’s FIRST instinct was Apathy. “It’s Angel, he’ll be fine”. @@hardouindelagrandiere8446I like how the songs reflect the views of two similar yet different characters. Husk and Angel have different types of trauma yet bond through that. Carmella and Velvet have different views on war since one has been through war and the consequences, while Velvet is willing to go to war without knowing the consequences having never experienced it. Then you got Alastor and Vox who have their own personal beef between one another. I just feel like it’s a cool way to show off characters right off the bat.
The duets in Hazbin Hotel are SO good, and this is my favorite of what we’ve seen so far. Husk is the absolute best friend/bartender a demon could have!
@hopebiased1270 Yeah. Height doesn’t have much to do with your voice. My mom was extremely tall (much taller than the average tall man) and she was always very easy to read because she got a very deep voice whenever she got upset and the rest of the time, she sounded a lot like Charlie’s pilot voice while my (even taller) grandpa sounded like Twilight from My little pony 😂
His voice has strayed away from his pilot voice the most (well except KatieXD) and while I think his pilot voice fits his character a bit better, Keith David can't possibly do wong and Husk really climbed the latter in my character rankings :)
Feel like that's a pretty neat contrast of someone used to the dresscode and expected appearance of a casino, while slightly tipsy, compared to a coked up flamboyant kind of guy. Fits the two characters extremely good in my eyes.
I think it's more that Husk's soul is completely owned by Alastor, while Angel's soul is Valentino's property only when he's at work, so that's why his are less thightly tied than Husk's. (English is not my first language)
Bruh, when the guy vomited all over Husks umbrella bc husk was keeping vomit off of angel, and then husk just shook his umbrella out showed just how much he cares abt angel cus I saw that as husk saying that he had more important things to deal with like comforting angel and making angel see what other saw, rather than worry abt his umbrella. That was heart warming.
No kidding! Having only really experienced Husk from the pilot, I was *not* expecting a (relatively) wholesome song in a series that focuses on *Hell* like this! 😯
I love that Husk doesn’t try to sugar coat Angel’s situation. His life is fucked up, and telling him otherwise would be total bullshit. Instead, he tells him straight up that his life is shit, but that that’s okay. As soon as Angel realizes Husk isn’t judging him, his mood shifts and he immediately starts to embrace who he is. Their lives both suck in their own ways, but at least they know they’re not alone :’)
Something I noticed is that husk never flat out grabs angel. He puts his hand out and waits for angel to take it, a luxury he clearly wouldn’t get from Val
I LOVE how they aren’t comforting each other by talking about solutions. Instead, they talk about how they could relate to eachother. Man, sometimes there are problems that can’t be solved right away
or problems that don't need to be solved at all. Being a "loser" doesn't HAVE to be a problem. What made them one can be changed but that wont suddenly make them geniuses or some bs and that's fine.
@@trueMCGRavenThe meaning of this song is that you need to accept where truly you are to really start looking for improvement (in this case redemption)

Husk’s Overlord backstory, style, usage of cards, and being voiced by Keith David has formed my headcanon that he’s Dr Facilier after his death in Princess and the Frog.
At first i was wondering wtf the point of Husker was since he mostly just sat around in the background. Then this song comes along and i can't imagine him the show without him.
He's just singing about you may be a loser but if you stick it together with a support group you can overcome it. You aren't in it alone everyone's got problems, don't lament in them, embrace the flaws be who you are, but always strive to keep moving in the right direction.
@@randallrobertson6042Valentino abuses Angel into submission and goes on violent outbursts (he shot and tore people apart because Angel wasn't returning his calls). Alastor is a psychopath, but doesn't seem abusive or violent towards his servants. Husk openly bad mouthed and argued with Alastor in the pilot but didn't get beaten or intimidated for it; rather he bribed husk with alcohol and husk cooperated. Bribery with addiction is a bad thing but constant physical and sexual abuse is much worse.
@wolfofthenorthwinds7477 Yeah, I'm not saying Angel is having a good time he is having one of the worse. But Alastor feels like the scariest thing on screen.
I had to listen to this to be reminded that this didn’t get nominated for anything but that god awful film about some Mexican drug cartel did several times over
I love that in this universe the other characters are consciously aware that the main cast are literally singing and not just singing as a "presentation" for the audience Lmao.
This song is not only catchy and funny, it’s uplifting. I just like seeing Angel Dust somewhat comforted, and learning that Husker is actually more than what he seems.
Maybe i'm reading too deep into it, but during Poison, when Angel danced with Valentino, he was chained to him and being dragged along the whole time. When Husk dances with Angel, he starts by guiding him by the hands, but by the end of it they're dancing in sync without touching at all. Really goes to show the difference between Angel's relationship with both Val and Husk
Omg yes. This is so perfect to describe how Husk is not forcing Angel and its actually trying to help him and help him learn being himself (cause when u act too much u kinda forget abt this things) but i guess my part its more hc
I still am absolutely shocked by the crazy differences in their voices!!! The contrast is so surprising yet so good! I was definitely not expecting Angel Dust to sing along when the song started and was pleasantly surprised when he started singing along.
I absolutely love the way Angel's entire tone changes the moment he accepts the idea in the middle of the song going from grumpy and feeling like shit to just being himself and seeming happy to let it out. Just to clarify, I mean his voice, it's all grungly and grumpy into upbeat, higher pitch and seemingly happy.
Cause he understands that Husk has been there, knows what it's like and he's not nearly as alone as he thinks he is so he can open up and get closer to Husk cause he's so kind, straight forward and waaay more gentle to Angel like it's so precious and adorable I can't reiterate this enough
@jdlara7774 I think it also boils down to Husk letting Angel know it's okay to be who he really is, to just be real with him cause Husk is always real and rarely puts on an act. I mean we see at one point that he forgets where he stands on the power scale and says exactly what he means even though he shouldn't.
the second angel gets affirmation he’s accepted by husk in this song with the “baby that’s fine by me” he instantly feels better and more comfortable to sing.
@@kingxfthedead5876True. Husk went from being "oh yeah. he's that furry cat alcoholic guy" to "THAT'S *MY* FURRY ALCOHOLIC KITTY CAT LOSER GUY, AND I LOVE HIM!!!" within the span of this episode for me--
But if you put them on the end of the main antagonist like in a show I’m sure you’ll not remember that’s where it really is perfect because he reminds me a lot of the voice actor I’m pretty sure he is marmoo from Kulipari

Husk's is a very distinctive baritone voice, whereas Angel's is more of a Tenorino. To put it simply, Husk's voice is like a Bass Guitar, whereas Angel's is closer to a violin. When you listen to Husk's singing you feel it more than hear it when the mood picks up, due to the deep bass his voice possesses. You can definitely tell that Angel sings from the throat while Husk sings from his chest because of the tone they sing with

I love Husk presence in the group cuz its an opposite to charlie being all positive and cheerful cuz her method does make you feel isolated and alone at times,..but someone like husk being the "its okay, we are losers at least you are not alone" makes it comforting and easier to breathe
Definitely need both though, Charlie's positivity helps give the hotel direction and hope. But they definitely need the realism of Husk and in some cases Vaggie. :)
Yeah, he's definitely the dramatic irony in the cast. He's only there under Alastor's orders, and Alastor presumably just wants to enjoy watching the whole attempt fall apart, but in reality Husk is the balance needed to make this all work
Just shows in life, we need a little of Charlie (hope) and a little of Husker (reality) to keep us going. Husker is the best kind of guy, he doesn’t care for the acts, just be real with him and he’s got you.
Absolutely adore the message of this song. At first Angel takes it as Husk mocking him, but then as the song goes on it becomes clearer that Husk is telling him “We’ve both been through it, and it sucks. You don’t have to put on a face for people because we’re all landed in the same hellhole!” I’m a loser, you’re a loser, we’re all losers, PREACH IT!
@@odette6761 no it doesn't it actually meant to be a form of healing mechanism for him which husk is trying to help with since him and angel have both dealt with manipulative psychopaths
I love the bit where Husk actually starts dancing with Angel and how surprised he looks, cause it’s probably the first time in a long time that he’s danced or vibed with someone that hasn’t tried to take advantage of him and I love that for our lil spider boi. This song is so freaking amazing!!

Husk is easily my favorite character. Bro is not only classy but he is a truly human sinner that isn’t necessarily evil or raunchy. He’s just easier to connect with than other characters imo
I love how, despite how pessimistic he is on the idea of anyone being redeemed, even if he seems like a grouch that just tolerates everyone, he’s more than that. He tries to keep the rest of them on the straight and narrow. Maybe he’s lost hope in redemption, but not in his friends. He’s like the Angel on your shoulder. I guess hearing everyone’s troubles all day, every day, gives him a glimmer of hope and faith, at least in this group of misfits and hazbins he’s found himself in. He’s probably one of the most sane and kind people of the group. Despite his depressing outlook on things.
“Raunchy” And they had to make him gay as well for the sake of nothing 💀 Husk and Vox are the only characters in the show which actually get worse because of this shit. Just why.
When they are bound with ropes at 2:15 , Angel's rope is chaotic and Husk's is neatly wrapped. Maybe pointing to the nature of their respective "owners". Valentino being an emotional in-the-moment type & Alastor being neat/calculating.
Or maybe it is the difficulty that both can free themselves from their ties, with Angel being the easiest to get out of his problems and unfortunately Husk having it difficult.
@@sebasalegafu3783 I would rather believe that. Considering Valentino is more likely to be seen as an enemy of the hotel, so Angel would get the support of the group. While Alastor is more of an asset to the group. Even if Husk's servitude was recognized by the group, I think they'd rather not have conflict with him. Also Alastor is a "deal maker". While the Vs own countless souls and have their own businesses, and we know they are strong. Alastor has made him own deals, "toppled overlords," we know he is strong, but it's hard to guess how strong he really is. But in the pilot there was an emphasis on him making deals, like it's his specialty. I watched Hazbin's pilot when Helluva Boss first came out and watched a lore video here and there so I don't have the best idea of power ranking. Although Charlie would likely be able to defeat Alastor, by how cautious she is of him in the pilot, I think avoiding conflict is preferred.
I think Valentino's ropes look like Shibari (bondage), that's why they look like that. Given the sexual nature of their "relationship", I'm assuming that's the case.
I think both of yall are correct in a way cus tatsumi i feel is right in how the respective overlords act being represented in the ropes neatness and way their wrapped in the way of how the sin is
I love how Husk means it. Angel doesn’t need to be perfect or put on an act to be liked, he just has to be himself and know there are people out there who will care about him and reach out when he needs help.
I hope that Husk gets at least a hundred more musical numbers before the show ends, Keith David is truly an icon and I can’t wait to hear more from him
@@candlestixsmixedwithtrixs There's also season 2 in the works from what i heard, won't release until late 2025 or early 2026 considering the quality and detail viziepop has.
I know a lot of people are on the fence about the new voice actors but I think Keith David is a perfect fit for husk, the slightly deeper, smoother yet still slightly gravely voice fits him so well
I feel like most of the voice acting controversy comes from Angel Dust's VA, because we had that music video that had one VA and then they don't have that VA on the show, but honestly since "poison" came out most of the debacle has died down. Also Keith David is amazing and everyone knows it, so I doubt that there was many protests to him doing any character honestly
I’ve seen some people criticize this song, saying Husk is telling Angel to “suck it up” cause he’s not the only one with problems, and…I’ve never understood how someone could misinterpret a song so brilliantly. Do I agree that the lyrics make things a bit tone deaf? Yeah, it’s not PERFECT. But with the tone of the song itself, it’s almost impossible not to understand what’s happening here. Husk isn’t invalidating Angel’s trauma or situation with Val, nor is he trying to compare him selling his soul to Alastor to Angel selling his soul to Valentino, and being sexually abused as a result. Husk can’t relate to that, and he doesn’t claim to. But he CAN relate to regretting past choices. He CAN relate to being in an inescapable situation. So while he can’t relate to Angel’s EXACT struggles, he can relate to a certain extent. And that’s what this song is about. It’s a comforter. Yeah Angel’s in deep shit, but he’s not the only one. He’s not alone in his problems, and he doesn’t have to keep being alone when there are people who can say “Me too man, it’s gonna be okay”. Some people are interpreting this song as Husk telling Angel “You’re not the only one with problems, so suck it up and embrace it, you’re not special”. What Husk is REALLY trying to tell Angel is “You’re not alone, and you don’t have to act like you’re alone. You can let your walls down for people who can understand, even slightly. And if you’re gonna be suffering, might as well suffer with a friend”. THAT’S what this song is about.
Does anyone else notice how Husk helped others during this number? He could tell the guy leaving the bar was gonna puke any second, he also broke the window so the guy cooking drugs could escape before the explosion. I just like how that shows just how much Husk knows about Angel’s “escape,” you know? Like, it’s clear that it also used to be Husk’s escape as well.
Geniune question: Where’d the puke go after the he broke the window to save the guy cooking drugs? Cause in the next scene where husk and angel are dancing the sidewalk’s clean
I genuinely love how husk isnt just lying to comfort angel, instead he tells him that he isnt alone with his problems. Both of them know they are a mess but at least they can share that with each other
i hate how twitter's calling this "victim blaming" when in reality the message is, "Yo we're at the bottom and so are a million others. We losers got each other to lean on so lets embrace it"
In a way, I do think this song does place some of the blame on these victims. However, within the wider context of the show and their stories, it's a lot more complicated. Husk and Angel have made some very bad choices, but they made those choices exactly because they didn't have any other better option, just worse ones. It's an illusion of choice we see repeatedly.
@@rosesweetcharlotteI also think u have to look at it from the perspective of the “losers”. From someone not in their position, it’s easy to tell them they have nothing to be sorry for, etc. but for two people going through similar shit, it’s realistic. "Your real self is sparkly! Just let it out!" Never really helped me either. "This sucks. Let's make it suck less" did
yes yes thank you !!! angel needs someone to meet him in his own world, imagine if husk were like "oh noo ur not a loser no bbg 🥺🥺❤️❤️ ur doin ur best here" trying to convince him wrong and shit and how laughable it'd be esp knowing they're both literal addicts enslaved in hell for eternity??
I think that's kinda just the medium of musical theater though. things move fast and people change their whole outlook on life with one tune
@jdlara7774 I think it also boils down to Husk letting Angel know it's okay to be who he really is, to just be real with him cause Husk is always real and rarely puts on an act. As a recovering abuse victim with friends who've also suffered some Grade A Bullshit from some Grade A Motherfuckers, that line made me absolutely CACKLE. Because yeah, sadly friendo, that ain't so unique. But hey. Us losers gotta stick together. 😉 After all, those fucked up whiny little bitches (read: our past abusers) ain't gonna do shit for us. Gotta do it together ourselves.
You're not alone!
Keith David really likes voicing characters who sell their souls to evil supernatural beings. There was Spawn, Dr. Facilier, and now there's Husk.
Taking the VP job in Saints Row 4 probably counts too, honestly.
BRO I THOUGH HE SOUNDED FAMILIAR
I absolutely love princess and the frog how could I not recognize that awesome voice
he also voiced the president in rick and morty who also sort of gave himself up to a hivemind
He's also the Arbiter in HALO

I don't think I've heard Keith David sing since Dr. Facilier. I forgot how good he was at it. So glad he's both in this show and as a main character.
Right? And like, given his a speaking voice, I shouldn't have been surprised at all that he could sing like warm honey.
Holy hell I never realized Keith David was Dr. Facilier from Princess and the Frog. Its never clicked till now. He's got a great singing voice.
The man has CHOPS.
It makes me so mad that Gargoyles didn’t have a musical episode… Goliath singing to Elisa would have been fun 😁
The smile on angels face when husk says 'baby thats fine by me' is so wholesome. Its like hes finally got someone he doesnt need to pretend with, someone to understand his struggles and that being who hes forced to be doesnt change whats in his heart.
Like husk finally gets him. SOMEONE finally gets him and just maybe he can start to heal.
I have no idea why but I love the flow of “screws loose boozer”

It’s probably why nifty mistakes him for a girl
Let's not forget the legend Keith Davids' singing. Harkening back to his performance as Dr. Facilier from Princess and the Frog. Wonder what song the Arbiter from Halo would sing.
@@ShadowCastor175 My guy Arbiter would be the guy to sing a sea shanty, or maybe an upmost holy song for the Sanghelis on the battlefield.
@@Gablatron I agree.
Husk is easily my favorite character. Bro is not only classy but he is a truly human sinner that isn’t necessarily evil or raunchy. He’s just easier to connect with than other characters imo
and that smooth voice REALLY helps
@@the_dennator7723keith davis is just soothing personality wise as well
I love how, despite how pessimistic he is on the idea of anyone being redeemed, even if he seems like a grouch that just tolerates everyone, he’s more than that.
I have a sweet spot for angel dust but I also really love husk c:
“Raunchy”
And they had to make him gay as well for the sake of nothing 💀
Husk and Vox are the only characters in the show which actually get worse because of this shit.
@@sebasalegafu3783I was thinking that too
@@sebasalegafu3783 I would rather believe that.
I think both of yall are correct in a way cus tatsumi i feel is right in how the respective overlords act being represented in the ropes neatness and way their wrapped in the way of how the sin is
Keith David's singing voice is like butter
“baby that’s fine by me!” FAVORITE PART OMFG😭😭
Omg i know!! It's like he was low-key flirting with him throughout the whole song 🥰😍
Here comes the shipping💀
I love how Husk means it. Angel doesn’t need to be perfect or put on an act to be liked, he just has to be himself and know there are people out there who will care about him and reach out when he needs help.
@@MariaNationlmao if they actually get together how will you react cuz it’s pretty heavily implied they will😭

Fun fact: Keith David went on record that he wished he could do more musicals to show off his range. Wish granted
@@candlestixsmixedwithtrixs There's also season 2 in the works from what i heard, won't release until late 2025 or early 2026 considering the quality and detail viziepop has.
Keith David's voice is so amazing. And Blake Romans voice is also incredible. These two voices are magical.
Happy 1st anniversary hazbin hotel 😊🎂
I know a lot of people are on the fence about the new voice actors but I think Keith David is a perfect fit for husk, the slightly deeper, smoother yet still slightly gravely voice fits him so well
I feel like most of the voice acting controversy comes from Angel Dust's VA, because we had that music video that had one VA and then they don't have that VA on the show, but honestly since "poison" came out most of the debacle has died down. Also Keith David is amazing and everyone knows it, so I doubt that there was many protests to him doing any character honestly
I mean it's Keith David. How can ANYONE be mad hearing him voicing a character?
I absolutely love how much the way Husk sounds and talks reminds me of Keith Davis as Spawn in the HBO animated series.
@@BadassHater1the man's such a legend he plays himself in Saints Row. Eat your heart out Samuel L Jackson 😎
I like how Husk gives ne gargoyle vibes lol 😊❤
I was also saved by your interpretation.
Thank you! Finally someone put what I was thinking into words.
Even the scene before the song is husk trying to get angel to open up a bit so I don't know how people misinterpreted it
both of those sentences are correct, when it comes down to it there is no correct answer only an interpitaion
Well said
Does anyone else notice how Husk helped others during this number? He could tell the guy leaving the bar was gonna puke any second, he also broke the window so the guy cooking drugs could escape before the explosion. I just like how that shows just how much Husk knows about Angel’s “escape,” you know? Like, it’s clear that it also used to be Husk’s escape as well.
Geniune question:
Where’d the puke go after the he broke the window to save the guy cooking drugs? Cause in the next scene where husk and angel are dancing the sidewalk’s clean

the facial expressions are honestly my favorite part of this show ngl
i hate how twitter's calling this "victim blaming" when in reality the message is, "Yo we're at the bottom and so are a million others.
It’s like they haven’t reached that part of the healing journey yet. Imo 🤗
One of the biggest obstacles is self-victimisation. Assuming nobody knows or cares about your problems, so you hold it inside.
It’s twitter nobody there is a rational person 😂
