"I'm singing it, I'll finish it" is the exact attitude Alastor took to "Stayed Gone" and I'm laughing so much that it's now an established character trait of his.
Alastor turning his enemies solos into duets against their will and stealing the spotlight from them is truly an Alastor moment. I wasn't expecting him to be such a massive troll, but I'm fucking loving it so far.
Love the parallels of their last verses with their "father" rivalry. _"Can you butt out of my song?_ *Your song? I started this!* _I'm singing it. I'll finish it."_
I just realized that this is basically the rich dad giving his daughter what she wants without knowing what she really wants. I like how this episode ends cause it shows some growth for the both of them.

Bye!” Meanwhile I’m experiencing whiplash and in desperate need of a drink.
@@bovineapples3012 I loved it. My dad and I already had our “More Than Anything” moment, so I can laugh at the memories of his I’ll fix everything tantrums now lol!
@@sarina76667 that's good to hear and that's how it goes honestly. It goes from this song to the ending one where they realize where it's not about giving but more of the actual support. 😁
My dad in a nutshell lmfao. “I am a rich dad who doesn’t know anything about his daughter but I will throw money towards her, I deserve best father of the year for that, when is her birthday again?” Kinda vibes. Makes sense why I seem to be the only one who can’t stand lucifer and like Alastor way more than him
The funniest thing about this whole interaction is that it perfectly highlight Alastor’s biggest weakness: his pathological need to be the most important person in the room. He was gone for 7 years, none of the other overlords cared where he went or what he was doing. Demons weaker than him annoying him and disrespecting him? Their screams of agony are broadcast all across Hell. The King of Hell shows us? Well, Alastor simply can’t compete in terms of power, but Lucifer does NOT like the idea of anyone else filling the father figure role of Charlie’s life. So, Alastor tries his hand at taking that spot.
Every winner is someone else’s loser. Alastor assumed he could slip back into the city and immediately cause waves like he did in his heyday, but he’s not the only person who got stronger in his 7 year absence, and there were always more powerful forces (like Lucifer) who could crush him like a bug. Vox and Vaggie appear to be the only people who even cared about his return, Vaggie because she’s obsessed with keeping Charlie safe and Vox because he’s still mad that Alastor refused his offer and then didn’t die for it.
@@Initiallyleo We didn't see the whole effect os his return yet... and well, as Alastor obviouslly don't try to control all Hell or something like that, his return is more like... his rival's problem, so everybody else don't need to drop a sweat. Vox, otherwise, who probably tried to take over all Alastor's domain when he destroyed all the old Pride Overlords, looks Desperate. Valentino looks like holds more on Lust Circle, so he is only entertained by Vox is desperation and anger, as he casually mentions how Alastor almost destroyed Vox in the past
With Alastor's own backstory from when he was alive, i feel like this was about more than just him trying to piss off Lucifer for shits and giggles. Him and his mother were abandoned by his father, so that "sadly, there are times when a birth parent is a dud" line feels more personal. He WANTS Lucifer to feel bad about being an absent dead beat. Tbh i love our radio demon more for it
I nearly forgot about that. That makes sense. Not just a lilith thing, but him basically giving a long backhanded lecture to Luci, because you notice, he doesn’t fight him as much at the end of the episode, when they reconcile & speak their minds. They being Charlie and Luci
i would love that idea and was thinking something similar but where did you get the abandoned by his father information? I never knew that was a thing and I don't think its on his wiki
I love that Alastor and Lucifer flat out acknowledge they are singing a song. most of the times musicals put a song in and everyone just goes about like normal it was so strange but funny to just hear "can you stay out of my song?" "your song?! I Starteted it!"
Yeah, all the songs in the show actually happen as songs. I'd assume why singing is so prevalent would have something to do with Lilith's influence originally being spread through music, like was shown in the lore blurb at the beginning of episode 1.
I was so scared they would've gone a different route making Alastor say "Daddy" instead of "Dad". It would've made that scene so much more uncomfortable.
I CANNOT get over the little growls that Jeremy Jordan put when he was singing the first verse, like ‘from the big boss of Hell himself’ and ‘because I’m the ref!’ I get chills every time I replay that part. Also the fact that Lucifer’s parts were all over the place with the animation, it was adorable
It seems like every time Luci does the growly voice he’s slipping into the character of being the king of hell all big and scary but he’s a lily goofy guy
It's the contrast between that growling tone and the goofy theater kid voice that makes the fallen angel part of his character believable to me. Very good casting.
I didn't realize that detail at first. That does add to the fun. Another fun little detail I like is that the cake Lucifer serves has a drawing of him holding Alastor's severed head on it.
Alastor did a much better job of appealing to her because he intuitively understood that she cares more about social bonding than she does about power.
@@blueveins295 Yeah looking at the start, Lucifer's opening is to brag about how awesome he is while Alastor talks about the time he spent with Charlie. She doesn't seem to get that this is all to get under her dad's skin.
@@dragonstormx Parts of it almost look like he's trying to intimidate her, even though that's obviously not the case. Spending so much time in isolation has degraded his social skills.
That's the only way to tell what he's feeling. I assume that whenever he's got angry eyes, he's generally annoyed. And his eyes are angry a lot. The egg boys annoyed him so much he lost his toothy grin and just held a barely- there smile with eye twitches.
My favorite detail is the fact that Lucifer has a golden fiddle, a reference to the devil came down to georgia, where he challenges a kid named johnny and if johnny wins he gets the devils golden fiddle.
I love how with both Vox and Lucifer’s songs, Alastor just hijacks the song and perfectly matches the energy and vibes. I think that really goes well with his character
I'm both impressed and not surprised that Alastor is actively trying to piss off the Devil HIMSELF for the laugh by saying he's Charlie's "step father." 😂
@GeorgieFl0ydCantBreatheI would rather sink in quick-sand until I suffocate and die, then subscribe to an annoying liar like you. Have a good day, by the way.
Alastor is a master manipulator. He saw Lucifer's lackluster reaction to the hotel, so he intentionally started acting like Charlie's 'replacement dad' to make Lucifer jealous so he would choose to help her - and by extension, help whatever Alastor is trying to do at the hotel. He's really good at this lmao
I think that although Alastor is definitely manipulating Lucifer, he also did it out genuine jealousy. Alastor is a narcissist and was jealous Lucifer stole all the attention. He also genuinely looked pissed at Lucifer even when nobody was looking at him, so it definitely wasn’t an act.
Oh I don't doubt any of that. Alastor's first goal was manipulation, then getting some attention and sticking it to the biggest boss of Hell for fun. He's a lot of things at once!@@lolscience1979
@lolscience1979 true. Look at his eye twitching when Lucifer shows up. Also, him not knowing him? His ego was damaged. The leesh being brought up too. That's why he was so determined to show his power off at the end. Insecurity deep down
i like that charlie just instantly forgets alastor's whole stated motivation for helping with the hotel the moment he starts being nice. shes such a marshmallow
To be fair he did everything to help the hotel succeed, and said he would be completely passive about his ulterior motives. Like if the sinners start ascending he isn't going to stop them.
I just love how Alastor clearly couldn't care less about being a father figure to Charlie and just wants to mess with her father, who's the KING OF HELL. The man just doesn't care
Well it's already been hinted at that Alastor is working for Lilith, as she's the only one left in hell that's way stronger than him. So maybe getting Charlie to trust him is part of the plan.
@@andrewmichael9201 Alastor is a great character, but c'mon. Even if he saw that as an insult, what could he possibly do to Lucifer? The most he could do is annoy him...which he has already done.
Alastor in a nun outfit is something I never would have expected, and the scene with him and Niffty is surprisingly adorable actually, and Lucifer aggressively playing a violin is pretty funny, who knew that Lucifer was musically gifted, no wonder Charlie sings to get her point across, she learned it from her dad

@@wilberwhateley7569 nothing, Charlie said that they've never been close. And that he had no interest in her. And they started seeing each other even less when her parents divorced.
I think that’s because while Lucifer is trying to look important in front of her daughter, Alastor is just saying what Charlie wants to hear. Alastor is a great manipulator trying to win this contest for Charlie’s preference.
@@Sara-Sopranohe's also giving actual concrete feats he's accomplished whereas Lucifer is making offers of things he WILL do. Charlie is taking the word of what's been done already over hypothetical promises.
Whoever decided to make an electroswing duet between Lucifer and Alastor where they’re constantly trying to one-up each other deserves a raise of at least 3 million dollars.
I love the little touch of giving Lucifer a golden fiddle, makes me wonder if it’s a replacement for the one he lost in “The Devil went down to Georgia”
One thing I noticed after listening to this song a billion times is why Charlie looks so awkward around her dad but is more positively responsive to Alastor. Lucifer is basically trying to show off and fix the hotel without actually addressing Charlie’s problem. He wants to show that, as of the king of hell, he can give her anything and everything to make the hotel look and feel better, even if that’s not really what she wants at the moment. He wants to give Charlie and the hotel the royal treatment, even though she didn’t ask him to do that. He’s trying to get close to her through material means. He doesn’t understand that she needs support and validation, not a fancy upgrade to the hotel. He’s being genuine, but he doesn’t know how to talk to his daughter without overcompensating. Meanwhile Alastor seems to be almost completely disingenuous, but it works because he knows what she wants to hear. He claims to support her and validates her. Not to mention, unlike Lucifer, he ACTUALLY knows her. No matter his intentions or whether or not he’s lying through his teeth, he’s been there “since day 1”, supporting and validating her. That’s why he only brings that up instead of trying to produce material objects like Lucifer (also because he can’t outdo Lucifer with that sort of thing.) Because of this, he legit feels more like a father figure than Lucifer does. Later in the episode, Lucifer did win the little battle because he was able to be more personal with his daughter, but in this song, Alastor was definitely winning.
I think his overcompensation was his second attempt of trying to show Charlie that she shouldn’t work with Heaven. Originally it was speculated that the reason Lucifer sent Charlie to the meeting with Adam was because he didn’t want to deal with his wife’s ex. But after he talked to Charlie, I think it was his way of first showing her that Heaven won’t work with her. That there’s more corruption than she knows. But when that didn’t work he showed off as a way to say “don’t rely on Heaven, rely on me.” He just wanted to turn her down gently. He wanted her to change her mind. After actually talking to Charlie and seeing her passion he then realized that he couldn’t change her mind. That while he wants to protect only her, she wants to protect all of Hell. Even when they don’t all deserve it. I hope we see more of him in the show, though I know Alastor wants to see less of him. Also side note but, I want to know where Eve is. Adam doesn’t really mention her and Lute definitely isn’t her. I know people are speculating that Alastor’s “leash holder” is Lilith but what if it’s both Lilith and Eve? What if they’re working towards a common goal and Lilith is having Alastor work with Charlie to get to accomplish something or having him distract her to protect her.
this is a great analysis. alastor knows he can't compete with any of lucifer's material offerings so he just uses his relationship with charlie that her dad failed to establish instead, whereas lucifer keeps trying to compensate for that with more and more offerings.
It's probably been said already in the 26K comments here, but.... I really like the lighting in this song. Lucifer is real colors. Honest, at least to Charlie. Alastor is constantly neon. Bright, flashy, and attention grabbing, but a lie. It's a neat bit of story telling through design.

I like how Alastor is probably just trying to play towards Charlie's kind-hearted nature and saying he values their relationship, solely to get under Lucifer's skin just cause the King of Hell doesn't know who he is. Plus Lucifer's response towards Alastor's "you can almost call me, dad" line being to aggressively play the violin is just fun
I think it's not just Alastor got offended. He seemed pretty angry even before Lucifer came to them. I think Al has something against Lucifer, maybe even something personal
I love how. Charlie looks uncomfortable when Lucifer is singing, then looks genuinely happy with Alastor. It shows how much she care and beleives in the bond they have. I don't know how much of it is genuine on Alastor's part, but I like to think it has some truth to it.
The use of color is really smart. Usually Alastor's color motif is red but for most of the song he is color graded in shades in green, possibly to illustrate he is "green with envy" since he absolutely loves being the center of attention and despises being upstaged by Lucifer.
@@theleafactor Went back to check, it seems like it cycles through multiple neon color pallettes rather than sticking to a single one. Are you moreso referring to the subject matter of Alastor buttering up Charlie to get on her good side?
Oh no just referring to the color change to the neon colors when alastor is singing, that whole color palette is the same one used during his song at the end of the pilot episode. So I think that color choice was just a nod to the pilot episode.
when alastor seems to he doing stuff involving his deals he has a green magic. the first time was when he tried to make a deal with charlie in the pilot and the second was later in this episode when husk brought up alastor being on a leash
Seeing how much he actually cares for her "potential" in the seventh episode maybe he actually cares for her but more as someone he can shape. As a tool he cares about
What if the target of Al's manipulation, at least in this case, was Lucifer, not Charlie? i.e., Alastor was just pretending to make a move on the 'dad niche' for Charlie to manipulate Lucifer into taking a more active interest in the Hotel?

I am so glad they made Lucifer such a caring dad. Sure he's kind of a doofus who isn't exactly good at this, but he is legit trying and does truly love Charlie. Also Hearing Alastor use profanity is GOLD. That’s how you know he’s really upset because nobody really gets to him.
...the best part about this song is how much you can't tell if Alastor is singing because he wants to control Charlie or if he just wants to get under Lucifier's skin.
Ok, here's how this goes: We have established that Alastor is in someone's leash, the most probable theory being that said leash belongs to Lilith who forced him to help and protect Charlie and her hotel, given Lucifer's apathy. Alastor sees Lucifer's return as a threat to himself. I mean, he can't compete with Lucifer and if he doesn't prove useful to Charlie, who knows what whoever controls him would do to him.
She didn't spend much time with him, so maybe the wings got that reaction because that's similar to the magical storytelling images he showed her in their short interactions. It's like she just saw a cherished part of her childhood.
im just loving the symbolism of elecroswing being the theme here. Jazz is often called the devils music while it is literally the genre from when alistor was alive making it fit both characters who are trying something new
yea that paired with the Aladdin's genie scene. having your wish fulfilled. I also think we Alistor sings its a ref to the princess and the frog villain.

They did SUCH a good job giving Lucifer "dad" energy, I swear. I could literally picture my dad the whole time. The little dad jokes, the mannerisms, it's just so so dad like.
Slowing down the video really lets you see all the details you miss. From the little mini lucifers with trumpets in the beginning, to the silly poses he does during WHAP BAM BOOM
The fact that lucifer (avatar of pride, here a mentally unstable, depressed father) and alastor (high functioning sadistic serial killer) are "fighting" for charlies attention, even tough alastor is only doing it because he wants to be superior, is so wholesome. I love how they are so similar but on a very uniqe way. Alastor wears black tie, lucifer white tie, they both use walking sticks, have sharp teeth... They even play the instruments that are most resonant with each other (Lucifer plays violin and alastor plays piano). Electroswing is also my favorite genre, so it has to be my favorite so far.
The violin is unique! Its a call out to the song "The Devil Went Out to Georgia" in which the Devil picked this dude in a duel with playing the fiddle. If the mortal won, he'd win the devil's gold fiddle but if he lost, the devil would take his soul. It was the greatest song of its time and I wish more people got to hear it!
It seems to me that Alastor burst into the song not to attract Charlie's attention, but to annoy Lucifer and draw attention to himself. Just look at where Alastor is looking while taking care of Charlie.
0:06 I love how he has a bit of an aggressive growl when he says "From the big boss of Hell himself" only to immediately drop it and return to the goofy voice
I've heard these two are apparently the creator's favorite characters, which I feel makes this even funnier. Nothing like making a duet about the beef your faves have with each other.
I can't even imagine him not smiling at this point, if we see him not smiling and look actually sad at some point we'll know he's at his WORST, I'll cry for sure
Its because the smile itself changes, it gets bigger, sharper and wider as he gets angry, and he shows less "face" as his expression takes over. His eyes also shift and he shows more teeth. When his being polite, when his being snarky, when his being shifty or angry, his smile gets exaggerated and his eyes change with it his expression becomes everything.
What I love about this song is that Alastor gets more of an reaction from Charlie than her own dad. Like when in the first part when Lucifer is singing, Charlie is mmore scrunched up and uncomfortable while when with Alastor, she's much more happy and talkative. I don't think Alestor is mind controlling Charlie or whatever the hell he can do, I think he's just that good at one upping people that he can make himself look like the better of the two.
And also (as he himself is ALL TOO HAPPY to point out during the song) he's been helping out this entire time already, so at this point Charlie probably genuinely knows him (or his smiling facade) better than her dad
Lucifer is just offering to make Charlie win anything with his power and spent this whole episode largely ignoring Charlie’s efforts with the hotel (I love you Luci dw), meanwhile Alastor is singing about how he’s actively helping around with the hotel all of the time. Lucifer just sings about what would be cool, Alastor sings about what actually needs to be done (plus he is acting much more personally affectionate than Lucifer who seems to just be trying to buy Charlie’s love). In truth Lucifer does want to be a good dad to Charlie and Alastor is most likely just manipulating her for his own purposes, shows just how good Alastor is at messing with people
He doesn't need to mind control her, he just needs to manipulate her. Which is more real-life scenario, and more dangerous. Especially once you've seen the last two episodes of Season 1...
I think that's because at the beginning of the song, "Mr. Boss of Hell himself" just wants to make it clear that he is better than Alastor and I also think that if Charlie looks so uncomfortable it's because her dad keeps making references about k!ll!ng her sponsor. 😅😅
I find it interesting how Lucifer is trying to convince Charlie he is the better father with materialistic things, while Alastor goes the more manipulative route of all the good things he’s done for Charlie/ the hotel, and also talking about ideas such as found family.
Sep, porq necesita mantener a Charlie bajo su radar y manipulación. Sin mencionar que Lucifer es el rey del infierno y Alastor quiere ser el rey del infierno
The way that Niffty looks blank until she processes who all is around her I am 1000% convinced Alastair poofed her into the toilet to pull her out just for that moment, like when he originally summoned her in the fireplace. Both times she just kinda... knew? What he wanted from her.
I think it's more that Alastor is trying to tell Charlie that he doesn't like Lucifer or that he's more reliable than her own dad, not trying to manipulate her or anything
@Kromgar1337A lot of people seem to forget that Alastor is a psychopathic, manipulative, violent demon who absolutely deserves to be in hell. It’s kind of funny that the charm he uses in the show to manipulate the cast also works on real people.
As a single dad, antisocial and a little different etc, absolutely loved this episode. Seeing lucifer just be a wreck of a dad was amazing. My daughters dreams will always be so important to me. And I'll do what I can to protect her but also know I'll have to let her go out into the world and be her own person.
I don't know what's up with that but I find Alastor's "Who's been here since day one" sound so oddly neat, like idfk, besides his slightly higher voice for a moment, the way he says "Who's" somehow works for me
Haha true! Alastor failed to stop Adam but Lucifer beat the shit out of him. I love Alastor so much but not gonna lie, best dad title goes to Lucifer this time. 😩
@@paradoxcreatives7731 In fairness, Alastor was likely restricted in that fight due to his deal. He even mentions this in his next scene about how the deal is constraining him and he needs to "unclip his wings".
@JakeLadder-kv3es yep, Adam definitely had more power but Alastor was right with his mocking during their fight. Adam was unskilled. Tbh, I'm not even convinced the attack that broke his staff actually even hit him. If you watch the scene again you'll see the impact mark on the floor to his right and Alastor goes "what just happened?" Why would he be confused if the attack he clearly saw had just hit him? Seems to me his power "turned off" briefly right as he was going to go all out. Why? I think the deal has something to do with it.
@@LeiRaionHe was probably restricted in the sense of not being able to do whatever he wants especially to Charlie and friends due to his "owner" probably being Lilith. Hell, it may be because of the deal that he's so powerful at all, maybe he made a ritual or smth back when he was alive.
Another fun note is that Lucifer not only been doing that throughout the song. He managed to throw Alastor around like he was nothing. Sure it was for comedic purposes , but it felt like Alastor was being outmatched by abilities/power, while Alastor dominated Lucifer, mentally. I love this dynamic, and hope we see more of this rivalry in Season 2.
What I really like about this episode(besides finally being introduced to Lucifer himself) is that we see a side of alastor that rarely shows up. Most of the time he’s either cheerful or cheerfully sadistic. But here? It’s probably the most screen time he’s ever been genuinely pissed off. Not just with Lucifer but also in that one scene with husk.
I love how Lucifer, the king of hell with more power then Alastor...instead of just using that, he thinks "ah yes, a song battle is the better way to sort this out."
Not to mention he picked a symbol of his own defeat: a fiddle. He already lost one golden fiddle to Johnny when he went down to Georgia. That's why he ditched it to go with an accordion to throw Alastor off key.
I like how everyone expected Lucifer to be the most intimidating guy ever but he turns out to be the exact opposite and is just a nervous anti-social dad
Reminder that lucifer has been the King of Hell since the very begining, no one has been able to unseat him, Alistor is using his daughter as a shield from which to chalenge him behind.
@@johnbraithwaite863there was a theory as well that Alastor is on a Lilith’s leash, so maybe his kindness is forced by Charlie’s mother. BTW I believe Lucifer is such a goofster cuz he was an angel long before and he is too strong to care and be intimidating.
Looking at when Charlie smiles throughout the song, it's clear that while she's impressed by some of her dad's abilities, she's uncomfortable with him trying to be close again so quickly. Meanwhile, a lot of her smiling is genuine with Alastor, which is even sadder because he doesn't mean what he's saying for the most part.
Thanks to her whenever people are so clueless and naive I call it the Charlie Morningstar effect I did this test on my gf. And she past when she didn't see this show or hear about the characters she guess of the bat
It's not hard to see why, either. Look at what her dad's doing - the reviews on yelp are all puppets of himself. When she says "thanks dad" again more puppets of him come in and talk over her, like he doesn't really care what she's saying except to the extent that it's what he wants to hear. In the line "who needs the busboy now that you've got the chef" he's not even looking at her, he's looking at Alastor. The first meal he serves up? Alastor. The cake he gives her? Himself holding Alastor's head. The champagne fountains are his head. The slot machine tiles are his face. He starts with "there's no substitute for pure angelic power" and then mentions being her blood basically as an afterthought. Again and again it's made clear that his involvement here is about pride and ego - it's not about Charlie, about how she feels or what she needs or what she wants, it's all about him and Alastor challenging his ego. She's set dressing to him in this song. She doesn't really open up to him until "More than Anything" where he actually makes a genuine connection with her. Also worth noting that obviously Alastor is no less manipulative, he's just better at it. He says "you could almost call me dad" which is very clearly directed at Lucifer, but Charlie doesn't see that because she has her back to him unlike Lucifer who just did it in front of her face. When he says "the family you choose is better" it's not her actual chosen family behind him, it's crayon drawings. They're tools to prop up his narrative but he doesn't actually care about them as people. Lucifer and Alastor are both being manipulative - Lucifer because he has an ego and because he doesn't really know how to genuinely meet Charlie on an emotional level so he's leaning on flashy displays of power that have nothing behind them, and Alastor for mysterious reasons we don't fully understand yet. For my money, that's the conflict of season 2. Alastor trying to manipulate Charlie into serving his interests by using the hotel and her friends as emotional pawns, and her dad trying to make a genuine connection but failing because he still just kinda sucks as a person and he's vulnerable to overcompensating when he's challenged - and doesn't quite see how that only drives her away.
@hannarchy6554 the worst part is alot of Alistors points are based on facts. Lucifers are what he says he will do but Alistor is using actions speak louder than words to weaponise against him.

Yeah every part befor that was better
poor baby, he deserves the world..also, Luci would looove your profile name and picture!!💛🦆
🙌🙌🙌
@@CanetaErrantegreat argument
One small error, val can t have power on the lust circle since sinners can only live in the upper circle: pride
I never understood why Alastor was so prickly with Lucifer, but I’m needing to be the most important in a room makes perfect sense
Tbh i love our radio demon more for it
He definitely just was trying to piss him off, his smug expressions at Lucifer when he is saying the dad lines makes it even more clear haha
It's hard to put the blame onto lucifer. I won't spoil, but that brother had it tough.
@user-eb6zt4wx3k Last I checked, it is actually on his wiki.
I love that Alastor and Lucifer flat out acknowledge they are singing a song. most of the times musicals put a song in and everyone just goes about like normal it was so strange but funny to just hear "can you stay out of my song?" "your song?! I Starteted it!"
It’s just like at the end of Loser, Baby
Yeah, all the songs in the show actually happen as songs. I'd assume why singing is so prevalent would have something to do with Lilith's influence originally being spread through music, like was shown in the lore blurb at the beginning of episode 1.

@@Olimar92 WOAH THERE ☠️
Oh thank god I’m not the only one who noticed that 😂
I mean, he was in a bind, he was way behind, and he WAS willing to make a deal.
Later in the episode, Lucifer did win the little battle because he was able to be more personal with his daughter, but in this song, Alastor was definitely winning.
true, alastor won in song, and lucifer won in the end
only thing lucifer will always win iSss fight
Lucifer was trying to be her daddy
Alastor was trying to be her father

It shows how much she care and beleives in the bond they have. I don't know how much of it is genuine on Alastor's part, but I like to think it has some truth to it.
Who’s Harlie?
The use of color is really smart. Usually Alastor's color motif is red but for most of the song he is color graded in shades in green, possibly to illustrate he is "green with envy" since he absolutely loves being the center of attention and despises being upstaged by Lucifer.
Also green's the complementary color of red
Interesting point, but my first thought seeing this was it was a call back to Alastor’s song in the pilot episode

I love Lucifer, his characterisation is incredible, I'm glad he was portrayed as a dad who's trying his best instead of a poweful angry ruler
It's not surprising considering both Charlie and what most of the Sins are like. Of the ones we've seen Mammon is the only real "evil" one.

It's almost like Charlie never saw her dad do anything cool in her life, the way she goes awestruck at the big wings
She didn't spend much time with him, so maybe the wings got that reaction because that's similar to the magical storytelling images he showed her in their short interactions. It's like she just saw a cherished part of her childhood.
I just don’t think he’d shown her before

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Fiddle, not violin.

I never thought you could express nearly every emotion with a smile....but goddamn did the creative team nail Alastor's nonstop smile
right??
I can't even imagine him not smiling at this point, if we see him not smiling and look actually sad at some point we'll know he's at his WORST, I'll cry for sure
Its because the smile itself changes, it gets bigger, sharper and wider as he gets angry, and he shows less "face" as his expression takes over. His eyes also shift and he shows more teeth.
When his being polite, when his being snarky, when his being shifty or angry, his smile gets exaggerated and his eyes change with it his expression becomes everything.
Fr, the emotional range on the constantly smiling character is incredible
I love how alastor barely wants Charlie he just wants to make lucifer angry
Well, "Like my dad says, 'you don't take shit from other demons!'"
Well this episode is basically duel of the dads and this first round is on Alastor, but we know that Lucifer got it in the end

If you watch the scene again you'll see the impact mark on the floor to his right and Alastor goes "what just happened?"
Why would he be confused if the attack he clearly saw had just hit him?
Seems to me his power "turned off" briefly right as he was going to go all out.
Why? I think the deal has something to do with it.
@JakeLadder-kv3es technically the first soul to go to heaven would probably be Able Adam’s younger son with Eve
@@LeiRaionHe was probably restricted in the sense of not being able to do whatever he wants especially to Charlie and friends due to his "owner" probably being Lilith.
Hell, it may be because of the deal that he's so powerful at all, maybe he made a ritual or smth back when he was alive.
Ive noticed a fun detail about the musical numbers: the more powerful the singers are, the more warped reality becomes to match the lyrics and music
New head canon: the entirety of hazbin happens in the 40k Warp, which is why them singing causes reality to warp.
I can see that lucifer and Alisitor have the best songs.
Very true especially when you notice it goes back to the hotel soon as mimzy enters

Not to mention he picked a symbol of his own defeat: a fiddle. He already lost one golden fiddle to Johnny when he went down to Georgia. That's why he ditched it to go with an accordion to throw Alastor off key.

@@johnbraithwaite863there was a theory as well that Alastor is on a Lilith’s leash, so maybe his kindness is forced by Charlie’s mother. BTW I believe Lucifer is such a goofster cuz he was an angel long before and he is too strong to care and be intimidating.

Yes, the "agressive violin/accordion" is great but the "I WAP! BAP! BOOM! ALAKAZAM!" Is just so adorable 😭
It was a gold fiddle in reference to the song the devil went down to Georgia
