Pretty sure that at 00:37 Vox says "Everyone knows that there's a brand new Don turn the TV on". Like Don as in mafia Don instead of dawn.

Lets begin i gonna make i wish i stayed gone turn on in when im done ur status quo race run oh it will be fun MUUHHHAHAHAHHAH
I love how Vox was so dominant at the beginning, and he loses his flow quickly as Alastor showed up, more of just yelling in rather than singing.
Vox starts off strong and attacks Alastor, while Alastor isn't even on the air yet. Alastor doesn't even attempt to defend against anything Vox said and goes on the offensive instead, calling out Vox insecurities. This puts Vox on the defensive and he immidiately loses the initiative, only reacting to what Alastor says.
This shows two things: 1. that VOX isn't used to being challenged and doesn't know how to hold his own on mostly even ground. 2. That Alastor knows how to hit Vox where it hurts, while Vox is just projecting his own fears on Alastor. He is himself worried that his medium will be outdated and assumes that Alastor with a more traditional medium like radio would be even more worried about that. But Alastor isn't, and so that just rolls off his back.
Vox just has that straight charisma as long as he is not being threatened by anyone else with power.
@@thomasjetzer2823given how Alastor mentions that Vox had invited him to the Vees at one point, and the end of the song has Vox looking like a sad puppy...
Alastor was right bro was mad pissy
Imagine if alastor went to somthing like tv
Having it start with Vox saying “I’m gonna make you wish you stayed gone” to end with Alastor saying “I’m gonna make you wish I stayed gone” is such a power move and uno reverse card.
also its very personal because vox said it in the beginning in his private rooms when noone else was there, so Alastor repeating it means he heard it which also means he spies on him and might possably hear everything!
he literally broadcasted it on TV

That and Vox says something about the 'new status quo' then Alastor says that his status quo will know when it's race is run, so his whole verse is just "I'm not locked in with you, you're locked in with me"
When Vox starts it sounds like a bully getting ready to troll him, but when Alastor has his solo, it sounds like a predator stalking it's prey, you can tell who's more dangerous after this song
Totally! That's a perfect way to put it. Vox's narcissism makes it important how others/the population sees him, where Alastor is something more ancient, powerful, and primal.

True power versus fake power
@@ExceedProduction Honestly, I personally think they might be equal in power, but it may not be confirmed yet unless they fight in season 2 or something
@@ExceedProduction I'd assume Vox is a little more powerful with TV becoming much more relevant than radio; that being said, Alastor is much more in control. I also don't think the power gap is wide enough to garuntee anyone a win.

Everyone talking about Alastor n' all, but like cmon. Vox went fuckin HAM! I would say Vox's VA did a beyond perfect job making Vox sound like a angry corporate asshole that he is. "Every day, he's got a new format!" " You're looking at the future AND HE'S THE SHIT THAT COMES BEFORE THAT!"
YES THANK YOU!!!! CHRISTIAN BORLE ABSOLUTELY ATE THIS UP
This entire song was great tbh
They're great performances, both of them, but I think it's fair to point out how both of them bounced off and reacted to each other to really give us character development for both. Vox's takedown was great, but it was cheap and dropped before Alastor even had a chance to speak, but when he does push back Vox crumbles to sand. I think that level of detail was pulled off phenomenally by both performances.
Vox did absolutely devour his lines
I love this song in its entirety and Alastor is definitely much more composed and actually secure, but I am just soooo obsessed with Vox's lines, it's sooo fun and captures what he is perfectly! His VA did phenomenal job, the "turn the TV on" will never not be fun to listen to :D And how he switches from the slow and powerful singing at the begining, to the super fast paced talk host speaking and then back to singing!! I love love his performance
I could be wrong about this, but the biggest part I LOVE about this song is how Vox has background singers and Alastor is singing all by himself. Vox is trying SO HARD to stay relevant and Alastor took that away in less than 5 minutes. Wonderful!
It was like 1 minute

Tbf Vox did spout out some pretty good insults until Alastor joined in, at which he lost his temper and confidence. “I’m visual, he’s barely audible”, “now his medium is getting bloody rare” and Vox’s “artist rendering” of Alastor killed me 😂

I think Alastor hates Vox almost as much as Vox hates Alastor. Alastor really hates TVs and he DOES give Vox attention that he doesn't show to, say, Sir Pentious. Alastor is just better at getting under Vox's skin, and Vox seems to feel much more threatened by Alastor.

My favorite part about this song is Vox is yelling and Alastor just sticks to his normal tone. Some people think being the loudest means youre the one winning, but Alastor was more than happy to prove that idea wrong.
Im guessing thats also another reason he didnt join the Vs. All of them are loud mouths, but Alastor keeps his normal tone. Even when he's noticeably annoyed at people.
Alastor didn't join Vox because he hates newer media technology.
*_"I don't need to yell to be heard, can you say the same?"_*
You know, with the rise of podcasts you could kinda argue radio is kind of back
Especially with how often people just play them as background noise while working on something else.
And fun fact, Radio is inherently stronger than Television. TV uses radio waves, so the brilliance here is that Alastor is above Vox because TV needs Radio.
Radio never went away. How many cars are there on this planet again? Cars that usually come with a radio by default, and which can't be replaced by any kind of a visual media, because people need to keep their eyes on the road? Yeah.

"It's been seven years!" Just as long as Lilith has been missing.
Yeah I'm wondering about that too. There's definitely a tie there, but I can't decide if the plot is going to make Alastor an antagonist or protagonist in the future. In one case, he may have been sent by lillith to help her daughter learn something. In the other, he may be trying to get a leg up on lillith in terms of power or something.
I'm enjoying the anticipation
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT
Between this and what I read in Prime's Respectless Sing-A-Long, I'm going to go back and rewatch. They said something about Zestial mentioning an Angel when they bump into each other (or was that in a Reddit discussing him and Rosie that it was mentioned?). Either way, I'll probably treat this like Disenchantment (I'm on my 18th watch since it dropped final season).
There’s a theory that Lilith Owns Alastor meaning he sold his soul to her 7 years ago.
@LillianaAfton I think it makes a lot of sense, personally. Rather than him being sent by Lilith because they're connected some other way, as some people have theorized, he could've been sent by her out of requirement. Or else, more fascinating to me, he could've gone under the guise of helping Charlie because she's Lilith's daughter, but really is trying to use Charlie to somehow get leverage over Lilith. The deals he makes and doesn't make with her, to build trust, but to also build leverage
What I fine funny is how vox was just criticizing val about how the vees brand Is perfection and how val needs to keep his emotions in check but here he is throwing a temper tantrum because alastor cracked some jokes. And what makes it worse is that alastor wasn't even thinking about going on air until vox was talking shit🤣🤣
Edit:damn 1k likes thanx
Funniest part is that this is all cause Val enabled Vox into doing this maneuver, the pissbaby merely pushed the piss to another V
Honestly i feel likes its kinda differnt in a way
Cause its not
Val trying to get his worker
Its
Vox trying to beat another overlord so its differnt
@@namedless I agree! Vox is here mostly trying to manipulate the masses into not listening to Alastor (and intimidate Al and fail), while Val wanted to go hunt down his employee with a gun
It was more like Alastor waited until the right moment to return on air. He had to be sure the pieces were in the right place.
@@rathraven1313Exacly. Alastor is cold and calculated. He has a lot of experiences in 1v1s (Husk is a good example of that) so he knowns that one of the best strategy is to analyze its opponent while they're trying to intimidate him to find a weakness and that it'll be more effective to wait for the best moment to strike so it'll hurt more.
This song lives rent-free in my head lol
Not only because of the great music, but also because it shows and explains on the one hand the dynamic between Vox and Alastor and on the other hand how Alastor handles his enemies; The song starts with Vox mocking and insulting Alastor, in the middle Alastor joins battle, playing along and slowly wearing him down, contrasting Vox shooting off at his mouth. By the time the song ends, Alastor has successfully infuriated Vox with his taunts and snide remarks to the point where he couldn't keep up this verbal repartee, and so Alastor takes the privilege of ending the song, with the exact same melody it had, when Vox started it. Pure perfection.
What makes Alastor so much more menacing is the ending. The Vs are having their fun, and he'll play their game. But when it comes to a close, he is dead serious. And he will love watching them squirm. You only become so powerful in Hell by being a truly, deeply vile person.

@@phantomfire5013i'd imagine the battle was going alastor's way until the other v's showed up or something
Well from how Vox was talking in the song and also from the little news captions on the bottom of the screen during that part, he really wants people to BELIEVE he put up a good fight. It seems to the audience though that he is pissing himself from being scared of what alastor can do. I get the feeling that fight either was very one sided and alastor just left him to embarrasment or Vox could tell Alastor was holding back what he could do to make the fight fun
Alastor's main motivator is kinda boredom as far as we know, so right before he left the city entirely him dragging out a fight to be interesting would fit
Ijbol, I don't know where people got the information that Alastor is unbeatable. He's one of the strongest demons in hell, but he's still underneath the royals and the capital sins themselves.
Vox is as much of an overlord as Alastor, so obviously they're comparable in power.
@@phantomfire5013 don't forget the time table 7 years ago that's the same time frame anyone has seen Lilith. Its very possible that she was involved in that battle to.

Alastor is stronger than Vox no doubt.
Sort of shows in the song, Vox was quick to try and assert dominace and show off, but Alaster just let him run his mouth till he was ready and then calmly showed how much of a pro he was and knew what buttons to actually press to get Vox angry.
We haven't seen enough of Vox to say that, but it looks like it so far.
I think so. I mean when you think in respect to media these days. Yes, we have TV and shows, but while some people may not listen to the car radio that much, podcasts are still quite big. And what are they? Radio-esque broadcasts where you can be famous and have "a face for radio".
Seems like someone's way ahead in the show. Which episode showcased their power, dear?
Even if Alastor was weaker he could probably get Vox to short circuit by annoying him
Alastor really dominated Vox in this song and I love it. While I do like Vox as a character he can't beat Alastor in terms of being the best character.
Alastor's creepy laugh at the end there...its really easy to understand why he's so feared. I am happy to see that his personality hasn't changed much since the pilot, but now we get to see it on full display here. He's terrifying, menacing, sinister and has definitely earned his reputation as the Radio Demon.
Creepy sounds at the end be like:
Oh noes we dead
TV: I thought I killed you?
Radio/Podcast: Oh you did, but I came back stronger then ever.

And a little real-life subtext - radio hasn’t really changed, but it’s also stayed a fairly stable TECHNOLOGY. Video, in all its formats, keeps shifting in technology because of BUSINESS reasons - companies want profit, so they basically pump and dump fads and trends, but radio is still basically the same, AND it’s really hard to regulate. Alstor either worked or was friends with Lilith. So when Lilith disappeared when Charlie needed her, the most Alistor came out of nowhere to help er out.

Why did he name a hotel hazbin it sounds like has-ben but the hotel never was popular its just so random so that is his cannon last name in my mind until viv comes out and says it
@fanofall1163 It kinda makes sense they said Alistor reappeared after 7 years, and Lilith disappeared 7 years. Not mention he didn't made deal with Charlie, and he only asked for to be entertained. @@WTXtraYZ He's a show man? He did nothing this entire song but sing for himself 💀 these headcanons are getting out of hand cause ain't no way yall tryna say that him having background singers for the first part of the song makes him weak
Alastor's ending bit lives rent free in my head, that said, Vox was amazingly well done here
Alastor is hands down the best character in the show.
He didn't turn iconic after one pilot for nothing.
Yeah I was like, what's with the hype? After watching...I get it.
This is my second favorite song from Hazbin Hotel❤
second?? what got first place??
@@shadowangel2459 hell is forever
Same, but my first favorite is loser baby
@@QuinyCatagreed
It's also my second favorite song but my favorite one is Looser Baby instead
The moment I heard this song it immediately stole my heart and I'm literally obsessed with it.
"Now his medium is getting bloody rare!"
I think that's the most beautiful, layered lyric I've heard in a long time!! It's *chefskiss*!!
TV works on radio waves what was vox thinking before taking this fight
Further more Vox Is dependent on supports (Which are two powerful and rich overloads he holds a mimic title)
While Alastor is a solo Endeavour
yeah
That could explain how alastor kicked his ass virtually
@@Highlander48
Yes and also Alastor also have the power to black out in hell casually
Vox did that@@daniyaljanjua9534
Not really the three V's are all overlords so he's the real deal and earlier dialogue implies vox is stronger than Alastor
I love how Alastor says "Let's begin!" at the end. It feels as everything that he did during the song was just a warm-up, and yet he managed to destroy Vox and black-out all the city. He only used some actual power at the end, just to rub more salt in the wound.
the way this song slowly transitions the presence from Vox to Alastor, from the flow reversing on itself halfway in to Alastor outright mimicking one of Vox’s lines. not to mention starting in Vox’s broadcast room and ending in Alastors radio tower. EVERYTHING about this sequence is amazing storytelling imo
0:04-0:23 Just noticed even the spoken dialogue here rhymes on beat too. The dialogue was so natural I didn’t even realize it…
“That fucker is BACK.”
“Yeah! I thought he was gone for good too.”
“It’s been SEVEN YEARS.”
“You still pissed he almost beat you that time?”
“Um, fuck you.”
“Just saying~”
“Things changed a lot since he left town…”
“That’s for sure.”
“I gotta send a message of who’s really in charge of things now!”
That's really subtle! Thanks for pointing it out! Gosh, I swear every time I think i get a song, I go 5 more layers deep..
Vox: *puts down a +4 Card* WHAT NOW?!
Alastor: *puts down another +4* ...
Vox:... *puts down another +4 card* ... (shit that was my last, but whats the chances he has a-)
Alastor: *+4 card* ... *insert very smug smile*
Vox:.... AH- BUT-
Alastor: draw 16..... =)
I love his this song highlighted the glaring differences between Alastor and Vox, and why the latter feels so irritated and intimidated with Alastor’s disappearance. Vox jumps from show to show, relying on a glaring lights and his loud auctioneer-like voice to keep his audience’s attention. He controls every screen in hell, but all Alastor needed was one radio tower to completely enrapture his audience and steal Vox’s place as head entertainer. No wonder Vox is so obsessed with taking him down. If left unchecked, Alastor will destroy everything he’s worked for the past 7 years and make him an outdated fossil.
Food for thought, if you consider podcasts the equivilant of radio talk shows- Radio truly is making a massive comeback in it's own modernized way.
You could even lump music streaming apps in there too.
Gotta pay some respect to Vox’s VA. Imagine how long it took him to sing that fast WITHOUT messing up. It took me at least 6 replays to finally get it.
Ngl i love Voxs voice and character design! He’s my 2 fav now THE SONG IS A BANGER
Alastor: Nah I'd Win.
blud pulled a jjk
One thing i really like about this show is that whenever there is a news program the caption at the bottom is always hysterical.
Only negative thing about this song: it's too short!!
The lyrics, dynamics, singing, and pacing are so intoxicating!
The symbolism between radio and video is quite clear. Radio is sustainable because it has been around for a very long time. As soon as a small glitch occurs, everyone loses their minds. Due to the reliance on visual stimulus, when video goes down, people either start threatening or begin to lose their minds, attempting to recover. However, radio, with its focus on listening, hearing, comprehending, and fostering independent thoughts, is sustainable and likely to last much longer than video. You don't need to see something to extrapolate its appearance.
Even conceptually tho Alastor should have no power over Vox, because just based off his powers Vox should have control of Alastors media medium as well.
@BitterParadise TVs run on RF, or radio frequency, so while yes, electricity is vox's thing, Alastor has the ability to simply throw his face on any tv he wants, he simply despises TV
@@OvercutHood Not really Alastor doesn't even control the radio the same way Vox does Tech and Electricity and either way as a TV demon he should still have some degree of control over their radio aspects since it's apart of his powers. Must just be me tho the alastor want is already heavy so I don't expect people to use any sense when it comes to discuthe character.
@BitterParadise if you watch the pilot. It shows clearly that alastor has the ability to manifest recording technology. He even goes so far as to make a TV ad for the hotel so long as he never has to be involved with television again with the hotel. So he clearly has some competency in television he just detests the medium and the demon who dominates it.
@@yoBmeF Loud and wrong. First off all the overlords have shown the ability to manifest or summon objects that doesn't make alastor special or show he has some supernatural control over Vox or Technology.
Second of all the deal wasn't made so he wouldn't be involved with Screens anymore the deal was he'd make an ad if VAGGIE never asked HIM to interact with said Technology again.
Probably the best song in the show so far
real
"still pissed he almost beat you that one time?" I hope we get to see that incident. Almost willing to bet that Alastor just got bored and walked away instead of finishing Vox off. With the V's claiming it a victory. Lol
That is absolutely what happened. definitely more of an even match up, compared to the snake boy
But Alastor probably beat Vox into the dirt with nothing but a few burns and bruises, then left to have his suit tailored lol
@@farronblaze2952 His suit is more important than a battle with overlords lol😂
1:53 I LOVE THIS
Still my fav song from the show so far, exactly what we all wanted to hear from Al.
What do you mean with AI?
@@josed7841Al is an abbreviation for Alastor
2:28 i love Alastor part
LETS BEGIN, talking about very funny memes because yes
1:21 Can we just appreciate the line "Now his medium is getting bloody rare" because
1. His "medium" (radio) is getting rare (scarce)
2. Medium (level of steak cooked-ness) is getting rare (another level, when cooked longer)
+ the dead deer imagery in the show during the line alluding to cooked meat again
and because hes a deer/wendigo
This was one of the best songs they’ve done
I really love Vox's voice, it's that typical catchy television tone, even his line in the song is a way to capture viewers. Compared to that Alastor's voice is just casual and all his lines are filled with insults, but it's spread as "tea" and rumors so it just sounds chill. I guess that's what makes Vox really lose it.
i love Alastor....and he had no reason to get all freaky and big but he did just for the hell of it
Part of me wonders... theres a stringy cracking during his Lets Begin, so maybe he transforms to make his own creepy noises, since he doesnt use things like soundboards
@@OvercutHood oooo.....yeah!
2:36 watching this last part was so cool cause you see more of the powerful alastor we haven't seen a ton of. i think it will be very interesting to see more of the overlord side of him
Vox VA is doing a great job, love that character
I love the obvious fact that Vox and Alastor has a big rivalry that's completely being shown in the song. Vox starts out strong but starts to lose it the *second* Alastor got on air. Alastor in the entire song was completely calm while Vox was obviously starting to heat up and freeze. It really shows their dynamic, Vox being scared of Alastor beating him, for being his rival and Alastor is barely giving 2 shits since he only lets Vox do this for shits and giggles of his own entertainment.
That last part is a bit generous
@@BitterParadiseWhat do you mean by that?
IF Alastor would have joined the Vees he would have been "A" according to their naming conventions. Keeping it on brand they might have gone with "VA" which makes me so weirdly happy... y'know... since he would have been a voice actor
the way Alastor moved when he got serious and went "Im gonna make you wish that I'd stayed gone" gave me the feeling he wasnt just talking to Vox, but the whole city
I actually love the glitches in Vox's last verse. The beat lags and cracks, which actually works pretty well.
This is making me excited to watch their rivalry in future episodes
My absolute favorite lyrically and audibly is "While he hid in radio, we pivoted to video!. Now his medium is getting bloody rare!" at 1:16. That part makes the song for me.
can we please just take a second appreciate amir (al's va)?????? like omg the second the vibe shifts at 2:23, i literally get chills

Vox has style, but Alastor has style AND substance.
