Seeing you start online tutoring inspired me! I’m a First Year Maths student, I’ve been tutoring for around 8 months and it is one of the most rewarding things. I did not think I would love teaching as much as I do and the positive feedback that you receive from both students and parents is an extra bonus. ☺️

I'm pretty sure with the camera question the person was meaning do you have your laptop camera on when you're tutoring so that the person you're tutoring can see you.

hi holly!! i would love it if you did a video all about money; what you make from youtube and tutoring and perhaps how you save and manage that money. i'm always so curious how much people make from youtube and how it works for their lifestyles. everyone always seems to sidestep around the topic of money but i think it could be really helpful to talk openly about it. if you are comfortable with talking about that (because i know everyone isn't, which is fine!) i would so love to watch that! just an idea ☺️❤️

I think the camera question was more like whether the webcam is on (so a video call) or if it's just an audio conversation😅that's how I understood it anyway!

@@HollyGabrielle how do you justify charging £40 an hour for your tutoring sessions? It's a massive ripoff when more qualified people than you charge far less. Also, you aren't allowed to ask your tutees to cover the PayPal fee, they could report you to PayPal for that and have your account shut down. It's really exploitative of you to charge such a stupid amount, you are not worth that much money. I sincerely hope the people you tutor realise that they can get a better price for the same level of tutoring elsewhere, because you're ripping people off.

definitely would want to see a sample session :D And maybe it would reduce the work load a bit if you could include that "'basic sheet of information" about how much it would cost and how to pay you (like which service you can offer) on your website. For me the biggest issue is always money and that I'm not from the UK :D

I do online tutoring too (in Germany though) and I applied to a company that organises everything. I applied to tutoring before corona and got (out i of 3 companies) 3 offers from different companies but only one of them offered online tutoring (for the other ones I'd have needed to wait until lockdown is over to be able to work there), so I took the one offer. However I really don't earn a lot (it was the only possible offer though...) so I'd recommend looking into the contract thoroughly.
Hi Holly, thanks for making this informative video. Do you usually get students to tell you what topics they need help with before the lesson? If so do you then have to create the resources e.g. powerpoint slides or are these already pre made? Is it also time consuming creating resources?

Have you ever thought of setting up proof reading sessions for uni students. When I write an assignment I never have anyone to proof read. Also any tips on referencing, its a common feedback I keep getting and I cant seem to get it right x

Unfortunately she charges £40 an hour as an unqualified tutor. Far too much for any tutor to charge for their services.

I think you need a PGCE (Postgraduate certificate of education) in order to teach in schools :)
