    If you're ready to start tracking expenses & earnings with ease, I highly recommend the course “Quick & Dirty Quickbooks” by Andi Smiles. It will teach you how to use QuickBooks and includes a coupon for 50% QBO off for an entire year! Normally it's $147 but until May 15 you can buy it for only $99 as part of this toolkit: bit.ly/sonia-toolkit

      I'm a proud affiliate of the toolkit because it includes 20+ courses and it's only $99! bit.ly/sonia-toolkit

    I use to charge $25/hour in January of 2020 I did the same as the women in the video and was going after my public teaching job to the library and realized this pay is a slap in my face. Now fast forward to summer 2020 and I'm charging $40/hour and will hit $100/hour by next year as I build my street credibility.
    Word of advice to anyone "know your WORTH and never settle, because people will pay you if you can solve their problem" but you have got to be confident 😊

    Hi, the private tutoring business is definitely a life-long career. No overhead cost. With most businesses, you need to put in money in order make money. Tutoring is an exception. Thanks for your content.

    The "not charging enough" mistake is a plague in our field I think. There are two aspects of that I think:
    1) There are people (that are not teachers) and also teachers who charge something like 7$ per hour. I really think it is something very similar to the thing people do on the street by night, if you know what I mean....
    2) Some tutors just surrender to the competitors who charge less than how they should charge.
    I did both, I used to teach for 5$ (€ actually but let's say $) and I also used to cut my fees when someone said "No it's too much, can I pay you less?" so I know what I'm talking about.
    It's something teaches should never ever do, if you ask 10$ per hour, you are saying that the years you spent at the university, your work, your time, your knowledge worth 10$. Is it true? I don't think so teachers!

      So well said! You took a lot of time & money to gain your expertise through degrees, teaching experience, and personal learning! So it's definitely worth so much more! That's why I encourage tutors here in the US to charge $40 USD minimum, but of course that can vary by country!

    I have tutored for at least three years off and on., and have charged $45.00 since day one. I too have a problem asking for what I am worth . I stopped last year in May and started back two weeks ago. I wish I had listen to this video before I set my pprice at $55.00 per week.
    My breakdown per child is:
    1 hr. x 4 days a week
    I need to become more cost and business conscience now. How doo you suggest I begin. HELP

    How do you work out sharing your curriculum with your students vs having them buy their own? This is especially with if you use a mashup if resources...

    • @soniateach
      @soniateach  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey! First of all, I love your username!! Also, I don't really create my own resources at all! I used online resources from IXL, Khan Academy, and Teachers Pay Teachers. The TPT thing I used was just an initial math assessment to gauge what level they're at in math. So basically, I kind of teach things on the fly! :) What do you teach?

    When changing rates, I was given some advice of grandfathering current clients and charge new rate ($40hr) for new clients. What do you think? Also, what about using a tip option? Haven't seen this anywhere though

    • @soniateach
      @soniateach  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! You are asking great questions. I recommend increasing your rates at least once every year (either in January or the start of the academic year) and I recommend increasing it for all students. I feel like this is fair for everyone to be paying the same rate. That being said, there's no right or wrong way to do it. You're the boss!
