  • The Honda City Turbo II is about to go to a shop for some rust repairs but before that, we need to get some info for the shop to see what's needed. I knew it would be bad but let's see in detail.

    I absolutely appreciate that you have to run a business but this is fun. You should definitely try to keep videos of projects and other things coming. The reviews are great but I don’t see any reason why you guys couldn’t be TH-camrs too.
    Thumbs up for the BMW hat 😂!

    I'd consider finding another one and using this one for parts. I know of a guy in Japan who maybe can find you one at auction or something. ;)

    Love seeing the city turbo 2 updates. I've been following this since the day Derek purchased it at auction and posted the video. Hopefully you will spend the money to get it restored and back on the road! There has to be a reputable repair shop near you. Good part is you have it loaded up and ready to transport to the body shop. Knowing you, this could be a video from last year and its already fixed and ready for a mountain road drive. That's the video that I'm waiting for! Positive thoughts headed your way from a very loyal fan in the states. Thanks Derek!

      Haha. I shot this about a month ago. We are still talking with shops to negotiate. We want a shop that will let us post videos of the progress on TH-cam.

    Hi Derek, the car transporter also requires some attention with regards to the rust on its platform, I think it would benefit from some rust proofing spray paint.

    I had similar rust on my 1978 Subaru Leone coupe. The sills are fairly simple in that car, so any competent body shop can use a metal brake to recreate the primary shape and do the whole inner and outer sill at once. If you're going for a full respray, it wont be too hard to do, with the interior out already. (avoids fires) :D I have a Cappuccino in the "long term project" parking here where the floor is no longer connected to the sills AT ALL! I did need a spares care cut for those bits, because well, there was not enough metal left to determine WHAT was missing. :P

      At the moment, a clean body City retail for about $23,000 USD in the states and about 2,000,000 yen in Japan.
      I bought this one for 350,000 yen a few years ago. I suspect it'll be quite expensive. Not sure if it's "worth it" but I would be saving a car from the scrap heap.

  • @CabronazoMotivado
    @CabronazoMotivado 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's gonna run you close to 3 grand to get that amount of rust repaired, and that's low balling it, I'm not an expert on the matter but that's what I've had to pay in the past, now you have to question if this car is really worth saving.

    • @PacificCoastAuto
      @PacificCoastAuto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's $3000, I'll be happy. I suspect it will be a good amount more than that.

    I'm going to say that rust is terminal. Just too Wasabi. Trust me, I'm in Atlantic Canada...I *know* rust! Those sills might not look it, but they are an integral part of the car structure (unibody). Stop dumping money into that one and buy another...just try to inspect it before you buy it.
