It's all dogfighting from here on out! Also F-22s and Su-35s.
The four friendly Su-27s that you see in the beginning will actually fight and die in this mission. They're not invincible but not scripted to die to anything either so at the end it's possible to have all of them around or none of them. They're not very helpful (just like your actual wingmates) but it's still a nice little touch I think.
This mission marks the return of enemy bombers; they show up in one more mission after this (the final one). The Blackjack goes down easier than the Bear from mission 6, mainly because unlike the Bear the Blackjack only has "two" engines (the engine pairs on each side are counted as one unit versus each engine being its own thing) and they're closer to the centre and thus easier to hit. Just take out both engines and it goes down.
The enemy fighters tend to act a little weird after you take down a bomber; since it always boots you into a glam-cam whenever you take out a bomber and enemies go passive during those so that they don't engage or shoot at you when you don't have control they tend to just fly straight and ignore you for a few seconds. Guess the AI takes a little time to turn back on or it just bugs out a bit.
The Makarov fight is pretty fun, though I'm pretty sure he usually gets behind me more often what happened in this video. This fight is a lot more fun than the fight that happens in the final mission which is a shame.
