    Nothing has worked for me. I did hair transplant 2012, I've done minoxidil,laser comb, laser helmet, I tried viviscal,, saw palmetto,biotin, fish oil, collagen, curcumin in pepper, hrt since 2020. I eat one egg almost daily, fish few times a week,variety nuts, legumes n grains Lots fruits n veggies daily. No alcohol, I never smoked. I exercise daily. After menopause arrived my hair fell in chunks but my mom in her 70s has her thick hair of her youth. Mine is genetic. Ugghh thinking of shaving what's let's off. Thx

    Love your videos! I have to say that I know that some of the brands listed as non-toxic under the at home hair dyes are not non-toxic. Naturtint, Herbatint & Tints of Nature all contain PPD's which are carcinogenic. There may be others on your list that do too (but since I am not an expert, just a somewhat informed consumer who tries to be as natural as possible I don't have complete knowledge). Logona is good though, it's all natural with no PPD's. Same with Light Mountain which is pure plant powders. Hope I don't offend, just trying to help. Thanks!

      Thanks so much. I think the chemicals you are referring too can cause sensitization, contact dermatitis and allergies in some. I will look into the ingredients in the 3 you mentioned, and add other PPD-free brands. At this point, these ingredients are not "known" carcinogens.

      I do oil mask 2 times a week, the key is to first put very few water on your hair, just lather shampoo everywhere, then you can rince. It's difficult to rince oil if you put too much water first because it doesn't mix together

      Lisa Gardner well, according To menopause Barbie who is a retired on/gyn , it’s an excellent item to consume in menopause. And in menopause, you have very low estrogen, so phytoestrogens that raise estrogen, on a weak level, are actually a good thing (in perimenopause, estrogen is very high but it drops dramatically in menopause, which is why many women take HRT (ie estrogen therapy) to treat hot flashes. I’ve been reading up... a LOT, I’m in perimenopause and have no symptoms, if I do, I may try black cohosh but my sister takes estrogen therapy for severe hot flashes. Hope that’s helpful 😊

      @@annamariabiro4089 It's a real dilemma for as the only true chemical free hair color is henna based, which is fine if you want to be brunette or red but I don't. I've done a ton of research and there isn't a hair color that is truly PPD (and it's other forms) and resorcinol free. The two chemicals we need to stay away from as they are carcinogenic. What I do (unfortunately) is use Naturtint, which still has PPD but I don't use it less than every 6-8 weeks, using root powders in between to color gray. I also have highlights on top at the salon which doesn't touch my scalp so it's better. We have to pick our battles and vanity wins out on this one sadly!

    I believe all the hair colors listed above, with the exception of the semi permanent, have the really nasty ingredient which is PPD or PTD. May brands are trying to push PTD as being better that PPD but it's just as dangerous. It's a real dilemma as I don't want to have gray hair.....

      Kim Cristo it depends upon your skin type but more importantly, the essential oil and it’s strength. For example, I put a few drops of peppermint oil on my scalp and it feels wonderful, but I wouldn’t apply it to my face. I use tea tree oil, but very very sparingly, in a face product .

    My hairdresser here in the UK uses Affinage to colour my hair do you know this brand? I suppose I find a lot of the recommendations are US based as that is where you live. Difficult for us to get here in the UK have you thought of recommending a UK version or one that you approve of here?

    Can you offer a guideline for what one might consider as 'within normal range' for hair shedding? Does the change of seasons ever affect hair? Thanks Sophie! xo

    • @SophieUlianoGorgeouslyGreen
      @SophieUlianoGorgeouslyGreen  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm - as I'm not a hair stylist or dermatologist, I would just be making a guess as to what is "normal". Abnormal for me is when I NOTICE more hair loss.

      Sophie Uliano Because of the starches!
      But I think more info is maybe needed here... That answer was a bit short and do not explain anything 😁 When you have Hashimoto’s (an autoimmune disease) you are aware that nightshades are the worst trigger for flares. They’re often associated with joint pain, and they’re avoided on the autoimmune protocol for their tendency to cause inflammation! And with the “luck” of getting one autoimmune disease you many times get other secondary autoimmune diseases as a “present” so you have to take very good care of what you consume and also live a healthy lifestyle!
      Nightshades are:
      Tomatoes, Potatoes, Peppers, Eggplants, Goji berries!
      And also potato has lots of starches that trigger insulin spike (as I also have diabetes and fatty liver! And a lot of other health challenges!) So that’s why potato’s is a no, no ..... 👍

    • @lmariew
      @lmariew 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You lost your thyroid because of B12 deficiency. This is a HUGE issue with women, esp. vegan and vegetarian women that is largely ignored by the medical community (and nutritionists). You likely have chronic systemic inflammation due to the connection between B12 and homocysteine. (If you are of UK/Irish/German descent, you have a +40% likelihood of an MTHFR defect.)
      An un-supplemented vegan or vegetarian diet is not complete. PERIOD. (I say this as a recovering vegetarian as I was one for +30 years.) As you age your GI's efficiency decreases, so you become more and more depleted, esp. if you don't eat RED meats. Lots of good info here for addressing inflammation and immunity (auto-immune issues start in the Gut.) justmeat.co/
