Mecha Gaikotsu I've been building gunpla for a while now, but I'm really just getting into detailing. I've been trying to get some panel lining markers like the ones you suggested in your panel lining video, but on amazon sometimes they wouldn't even arrive for another two months or so after I order them. The struggle of being a Gundam builder in america :(
well you could go to a local art store and pick up a .05 tip pen from there, also look fro prime on amazon there in state side and cost less (I got mine at $10 for all three colors)
I've actually found that you can do some pretty good looking panel-lining work with just a good ol' mechanical pencil. the only thing to keep note of is that if you don't have a good eraser, mistakes can end up being very streaky. i recommend trying it out on a cheap/practice kit first to see how you like the effect. That being said, I personally still prefer to use gundam markers, and I was able to get a pair rather quickly through amazon as well. But I recommend trying out pencil too, since it can be a much cheaper alternative, you just need a good eraser and a little more patience when cleaning up mistakes imo
Yes! this is what I've been saying all along! If bandai makes master grades/real grades of ibo suits they can reuse the frame. If they choose to focus on the barbatos they can make ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos 1st form (p bandai) ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos form 2 (p bandai) ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos form 3(p bandai) ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos form 4 ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos form 5 (p bandai) ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos form 5 ground type(p bandai) ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos form sixth form ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos Lupus ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex
The main problem would be trying to incorporate all the moving parts and gimmicks on the RG inner frame while keeping the concept of the Gundam frame intact, with it's torso pistols, showing armor and all. I could see Bandai putting the RG frame in the Gundam frame, but that will take some time to develop the engineering for, definitely not something we can see soon.
Ben can't we just have a Gundam Barbatos RG that has all 6 forms? The HG did that but was P-Bandai. Of course, Lupus and Rex should be separate but a regular release.
The only Barbatos forms that isn't Lupus or Rex that will be retail are the 4th or 6th, and even the latter has a small chance of it considering the Hi-Res. The other forms will most certainly be a P-Bandai complete set like the HG _if_ it even happens in the first place.

@@Aku_Dafi I think we will get ibo rgs and pgs one day, seeing as most of the gundam frames have the same frame we’ll definitely get real grade when they can figure out how to fit all that in 1-144, and pg isn’t even a question it’s jus more when do they wanna release it, remember 00 came out in 2007 and there wasn’t a pg til 2017, plus ibo has definitely become one of the mainstays
My only problem really with the HG one is the proportion. Those arms were too large for the proportion of its torso. The full mechanics did it justice no doubt. I'm planning to buy it this Christmas.. during Gunpla sale ( % off on kits in my country) :)
The Full Mechanics version is a step up from the High Grade ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex. I like how the tail and the talons are done in yellow plastic. But it's a shame they couldn't do the claws as well. Perhaps later with a Master Grade ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex, Bandai could address this as well as improving other things like designing it so that it can hold the massive mace. That's pretty cool they're including the new style Action Base with the first print run of this. I just wish they would sell this new style Action Base separately for 1/144 and 1/100 and replace the now severely antiquated Action Base 1 and Action Base 2.

+LoneSoul06 they seem to be struggling with their 1/100 lines. They seem to be trying a lot: MG, RE100, 1/100, Full Mechanics, Hi resolution. They seem to be testing the market and nothing seems to be sticking. I'm guessing the first batch of 1/100 didn't sell too well so they're doing what they normally do when that happens, limit releases to popular (or expected to be popular) Gundam only kits.
Mecha Gaikotsu Really? I'm surprised to hear that. Of the first round of 1/100 IBO kits I've bought all of them except the Graze Custom and Kimaris Trooper. I haven't gotten the former because of availability and the latter because, honestly? I was kind of underwelmed by the first Kimaris 1/100. I'm pretty bummed that we haven't gotten a Full Mechanics versions of Gusion Rebake Full City, Shiden, or Flauros. Flauros in particular, because I was really looking forward to seeing how the transformation would be integrated.
I wonder if you can mix them together. I like the barbatos lupus designs, especially the red shoulders but I also like a lot of stuff about the rex's design like that chest and tail.
So I guess the full mechanics line is the iron blooded orphans take on a master grade gunpla? It is a shame how real world physics ruin mega mace chan XD
Sorry about the late comment, but do you think this would be a good first/ beginner kit? Ive done alot of research and want to really invest into this hobby because i feel i will enjoy it alot, and this design looks absolutely badass.
I'm curious, what are the specific differences that make the proportions look right in this one? Like, does it have slightly longer upper arms to balance the huge lowe arms, etc.?
+aaaaaaaaooooooo what I've noticed is that the distance between the knees and the skirting armor seems longer, the feet don't appear to be as big, so the legs have an overall longer appearance. The arms feel relatively slightly shorter and thinner than the high grade, and the hands seem more proportionate. It's still a bit ape-ish, but not as much.
should have added red clear plastic effect parts fro the glowing eye's and the tracing it leaves wen the head moves....then you could pose it with its arm cut off wen mikazuki goes sicko mode in the final episode!

QUESTION. I've just built the 1/100 Vidar and noticed the frame and armor use the same plastics used with the Freedom 2.0. I really love the rubber-ish feeling of the frame . The plastic used with the original 1/100 Barbatos felt so cheap and flimsy, so much that the joints became loose so fast and armor pieces broke fairly easy, and that kept me from getting other IBO 1/100 kits...until the Vidar. So, I'm curious: Do the Barbatos Lupus and Lupus Rex use the same plastic used on the Vidar or do they still use the same one as the original Barbatos?
SilverWolf the MG Freedom 2.0 doesn't use ABS. It uses a rubberish polystyrene for the frame, which is a lot more flexible than ABS and doesn't look as glossy either.
+David Escobedo I completely agree with your observation. I had all my old 1/100s from season one on my desk when building this, and those kits are absolute garbage compared to this and the FM Lupus. You're right, they feel different, apparently it's still the same Gundam frame as the 1/100 Barbatos, but that thing is like a floppy marionette in comparison to the full mechanics kits, it can't even stand up. They've definitely changed something. I haven't built the Vidar (yet) but the Barbatos Lupus and Rex feel much better than the season 1 kits.
+David Escobedo it's definitely not ABS (I loathe ABS, it's such a pain to work with), but they might have changed it to a better quality or better mixture of polystyrene like the 2.0
I saw a tutorial online for one of the Lupus Rex kits to where you can make the Heel Bunkers extendable, it's in Japanese but it's not sped up or anything and he shows the process in detail so if you want to get the Heel Bunkers going look around and it's easy to find..it usually pops up when looking for reviews of the Lupus Rex Gunpla.
Just order this recently since its was available, I have the HG but this review made me buy the Full Mechanics. Bit of a Barabatos fan so I think I will end up getting a few versions of the beast but glad to hear that this is a good kit just to get.
The Rex and the kimaris vidar are pretty disappointing to me compared to the other kits in the looks department. Probably won't pick this up and I'll wait for the bael

These kits are not getting cheaper, so when will someone come up with a system where you can adapt and use those joints without sagging ? I painted my Rex and it looks good, but its huge at 1/100 and should have been £19.00 but with shipping I got stung in total £75.00 but was it worth it ? No, its a plastic model kit that's produced in its tens of thousands and international shipping at that price shouldn't cost that amount of 6 weeks wait time eh. Good review BTW
Hello, just thinking, in IBO gunpla either 1/144 or 1/100 have useable part for another gunpla from IBO gunpla. Can you make a custom mobile suit from using parts from IBO gunpla? Like what you did in kimaris trooper 1/144
I've generally avoided buying gundam models due to how fragile they are and sought only the action figures. However the full mechanics models have drawn my attention. My question being, are these models a bit sturdier or are they are fragile as every other gundam model?
two months late but no, these are not action figures. theyre basically high grades but bigger. they are decently sturdy for posing and display but theyre absolutely not meant to take any real abuse. in terms of gundam models what youre looking for are the High Resolution kits. they have the same kind of snap together plastic for the armor, but the inner frames are pre-built die cast metal
Yeah some of them are pretty fragile but they are really not meant to be played with to much like action figures, they are more of a shelf peice and/or a collectors item
+Jeans Man people say there'll only be 4 FM kits: Lupus, Rex, Vidar and Bael. Also it's coming to the end of this season of anime, and all of March's(a very important month for toy sales as it's the end of the school year here in Japan) releases have been announced. In short: no. :)
wait, is the Full Mechanics line replacing master grades? Im back from a 7 year hiatus and when i left, Real Grades were just coming into the fray. I need to know, Because most american sites are REALLY low on stock of kits
+The_Card_Couple!! Full Mechanics so far is only for Iron Blooded Orphans. There is Reborn 100 for UC kits as well. Basically the MG line is down to a handful of releases a year now, and mainly been releasing Seed and UC kits.
I like this. I just purchased the Wing EW kits i needed to complete the set and a handful of Full Mechanics IBO kits. i like the new price point as well
Im an oldschool collector who had to leave the hobby due to financial and personal reasons 6 years ago. I come back and we have MG level detail in $23 kits? 6 years ago most 1/100 ANYTHING was $25 at most...and the quality was spotty at best (Looking at you Exia Avalanche)
+Ritz Roldenn Alpajora basically MG kits come with more runners. Which means more plastic, more detail, moving parts, color separation and a higher price. This is more like 1/100 HG+
I'd say being unable to hold Mace-sama is a problem. Still no mention of the canons which, if you watch the episode with the battle, are mounted on the outside of the cuffs, not the palms as I originally thought. Bandai should also included red eyes for Unchained Mode.

PG Lupus would be more likely to get released over a PG Rex. The lupus is a simpler design and is more popular overall than the Rex is
the bit where the handle on the mace flexes is anime accurate too that thing was under massive forces all through out it run
It's just the animation style to show dynamic movement. The mace didnt really bend in the show.

Glad you like this one. some of the past 1/100 Barbatos kits have been inferior to the high grades, but this design works well

same. fixing the waist section on the hg to make it more proportioned is easier than all the fixes in the 1/100.

every gundam kit uses polystyrene plastic, except for MG's frames, the frame of a MG uses ABS

These kits are not getting cheaper, so when will someone come up with a system where you can adapt and use those joints without sagging ? I painted my Rex and it looks good, but its huge at 1/100 and should have been £19.00 but with shipping I got stung in total £75.00 but was it worth it ? No, its a plastic model kit that's produced in its tens of thousands and international shipping at that price shouldn't cost that amount of 6 weeks wait time eh. Good review BTW

I Tightened the joints on my kit and it works a lot better. I used a thin layer of cement.

And here my Barbatos Lupus Rex HG can hold its Mace without any support. Seriously, the joints are super tight !

Wow... I like gundam barbatos
I've generally avoided buying gundam models due to how fragile they are and sought only the action figures. However the full mechanics models have drawn my attention. My question being, are these models a bit sturdier or are they are fragile as every other gundam model?
two months late but no, these are not action figures. theyre basically high grades but bigger. they are decently sturdy for posing and display but theyre absolutely not meant to take any real abuse.
in terms of gundam models what youre looking for are the High Resolution kits. they have the same kind of snap together plastic for the armor, but the inner frames are pre-built die cast metal
Yeah some of them are pretty fragile but they are really not meant to be played with to much like action figures, they are more of a shelf peice and/or a collectors item

+The_Card_Couple!! Full Mechanics so far is only for Iron Blooded Orphans. There is Reborn 100 for UC kits as well. Basically the MG line is down to a handful of releases a year now, and mainly been releasing Seed and UC kits.
I like this. I just purchased the Wing EW kits i needed to complete the set and a handful of Full Mechanics IBO kits. i like the new price point as well
Im an oldschool collector who had to leave the hobby due to financial and personal reasons 6 years ago. I come back and we have MG level detail in $23 kits? 6 years ago most 1/100 ANYTHING was $25 at most...and the quality was spotty at best (Looking at you Exia Avalanche)

I'd say being unable to hold Mace-sama is a problem. Still no mention of the canons which, if you watch the episode with the battle, are mounted on the outside of the cuffs, not the palms as I originally thought.

Ben N the cannons are mounted inside the forearms so there's no piece for that, they're literally hidden.
