My grandfather had an 02 but traded it in 2006 for a fairly new white 04 grand marquis park lane edition with a full black landau roof, when it had 40k miles. He passed away a few years ago so my grandmother took it over for a bit until she stopped driving. She had her license but never owned a car herself. It was my grandfathers last car and my grandmothers first car. It sat for a couple years while i looked after it. When i got my license i made sure to let her know how much i loved the car. When she thought about selling it, i was the first person she came to. It currently sits at 107,058 and its staying with me for good.
Old people bought these. All the options, only driven to church every Sunday, maintained by the book, kept spotlessly clean. There are bargains to be had when you can find them.
@@bwofficial1776 I passed on an 05 with 25k miles 2 years ago. Dealer kept playing games with the price. The seats weren't in great shape, the leather was cracked.
Digital gauges were optional on both Mercury Grand Marquis and Crown Victoria, so there are plenty of Grand Marquises w/o digital gauges. Speaking of Crown Vic, I think they only had digital gauges in 1998-2002. They’re very rare on Vics though.
I occasionally drive a 98 Vic with the same exact digital gauges as this, but I'm not really a fan. Miles to empty is nice but there's no tachometer which is disappointing
Grandpa rode in style with this car. Pure comfort, and classic luxury. The Panther platform were the last of it's kind. They don't make them like her anymore!! A True beauty. Guess the demographics who would buy these kinds of vehicles are sadly disappearing. These cars will definitely shoot up in value in the next upcoming years and will become classic collectible cars.
2004 is said to be the best year for the Panther. The frame and suspension was modernized in 2003, the engines received a power bump for 2004, and in 2005 it went to throttle by wire and some have said it isn't as easy to tune. I still want one of these, I'd probably buy some senior citizen's only driven on Sunday Grand Marquis for maximum comfort and selectively fit Crown Vic P71 and aftermarket performance bits. A CVPI is a little basic inside. This car (like many Panthers) was probably a senior's car, just a big comfortable cruiser with all the options. There are still bargains to be had for clean low-milage examples. Really the only thing that can kill these is rust. It's an F-150 with a car body. As long as the mechanicals are maintained these just don't wear out, and if they do parts are everywhere and cheap. The paint quality and rustproofing is poor though, I saw a little rust peeking through.
I just sold my 2004 Grand Marquis. I've had a total of four panthers. Two of which were 2011s (last year for panthers in the US) and by far the 2004 was my favorite. So easy to customize. I made a nice profit on it but I miss it already. Current have only a 2011 Crown Victoria.
I have to agree. With 2004 you get the rack and pinion steering, updated suspension/frame, and it's still got a traditional throttle linkage. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it also got the Marauder intake and PI heads & manifold as well.
@@redey1290 The base Grand Marquis didn't get upgrades like that. There was the old "Handling and Performance Package" that got some upgrades but "regular" GS and LS models did not.
@@deaf2819 There's a certain appreciation I have for the old school cluster. I put a lot of miles on my 04 before I sold it this last Feb. Approximately 30k miles in 2.5 years and I didn't experience anything "iffy" lol
I have 2 Grand Marquis. A 2006 model I bought in 2014, which now has 288K miles on it without any problems other than a bad alternator. I have been daily driving it, and it has been driven all over the country for the past 8 years. About a year ago, I bought a 2011 model, with only 27K miles on it, in like new condition. It will become the replacement for the 2006, and my last car. When/if it wears out, I will just replace the engine, transmission, and whatever is necessary to keep it going. I will keep the 2006 in secure storage as a spare should anything ever happen to the 2011. I plan on driving a Mercury Grand Marquis for the rest of my life. It has everything I want. V8 engine, rear wheel drive, solid rear axle, body on frame construction, real tires that actually have sidewalls, 4 wheel disc brakes, a super comfortable ride, plenty of power, it's big, and it looks like an actual car. I also have a 1964 Ford Fairlane 4 door, and when parked end to end, both have very similar proportions. They don't have that spaceship look or garbage technology that newer vehicles have. Mine gets an actual 30 mpg on the highway with the cruise control on. That from a 2 ton car with a V8. And it is built like a tank. I feel very safe in it. the front end on the 2003-2011 models is stronger than some trucks. I believe this is a car that would still sell very well if the 2011 model were brought back completely unchanged.
The cup holders were designed for Fred and Ethel to put a small soft bottomed paper coffe cup in. Not todays giant aluminium save the planet water bottles or giant energy drink cans.
All of those options were also available on a Crown Victoria. Digital dash, heated seats, adjustable pedals, Auto Climate control, Air Suspension, etc.... just much harder to find. But they're out there
Crown Vic owners always want these. And the Grand Marquis owners want Town Cars. Actually, the Grand Marquis is my favorite Panther, because I don't like the styling of the Town Car. Of course, the Marauder is my fav, but we have to be reasonable. Oh, and being a GM guy I naturally prefer the B bodies over these, but these are more reliable (even if it's not by much, cough cough LT1) The one thing about these: finding one that hasn't been donked is almost impossible here in Central MI. Very unfortunate.
I always thought the 2000s marquis had a nicer roof line and front end shape then the towncar of the same era. The tc was too rounded jelly bean like it did not blend the square/round styling as well as the marquis. Everybody goes nuts for the tc & vic the marquis is always ignored I've watched many reviews of towncars and crown vics were the reviewer will throw in a nasty dig about a grand marquis. The crown vic has almost taken on a mythical status in the panther world i always thought the marquis was nicer so did ford that's why mercury made it & it cost a little extra
This car is widely spread in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait So amazingly , On every residential street, you must spot at least two cars of grandmarquis or crown vic , It is very reliable works perfectly in our hot conditions , Easy to repair like toyota cars , and convenient to drive, for me i have 2006 grand marquis with about 183,000 mils on it And it's still my daily car.
Awesome vid... My mom's used to do in home care... Every now and then I'd accompany her and I ended getting to drive the ladies grand marquis... It was olive colored but I remember being like I don't care if this is an old people car... Digital gauges? Air ride? Heated seats? I'm in lol
Great review. I've had my 04 Town Car coming up on 11 years. The absolute only mechanical issue I've had was replacing the intake (after 9 years of owning it) which is pretty common in these cars. Best car I've ever owned. The air bags are cracking but I'm not converting to springs! Will be replacing them with Arnott air bags soon.
They are also American, and there are millions of them in existence, which means lots of cars and almost unlimited parts available for a very long time. They are also simple and easy to work on, so if something needs to be fixed, either the owner can do it, or any independent shop can do it, with no special tools or diagnostic equipment. Well maintained, the engine and transmission will last well past 300,000 miles. There are also a lot of things on them that can be rigged if necessary. The electric blend door actuator in the climate control system can be converted to manual, the rear air suspension can be converted to coil springs, and a whole lot of other things. A mechanically inclined person who is good at improvising can practically keep one going with duct tape and a pair of Vise Grips.
I'm an owner of a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Premium. With almost every option available that year. It doesn't have digital display. But, it does have front bucket seats, center console with floor shifter and power moonroof. I replaced the rear air suspension with a conventional rear suspension, because I don't like it. I love mine. It has just under 126,ooo miles on it. Panther cars are getting more and more difficult to find. Especially one in decent shape like mine. Considering the last ones were built 10 years ago. Fortunately, as you said parts for surviving Panthers are readily available. Great video!!
These cars in mint condition will be worth a lot more in the future, as they harder to come by. Tough, durable , comfortable and easy to fix- what a great car!

Rare color for panthers in general. Very clean car for the mileage. The cup holders in these are/were terrible. Always happy to see your love for the panthers!
Just get a P74 Civilian Crown Vic. I have all of this except the digital dash & the air suspension was an option. Thank you old man that ordered this Vic before I got it.
I love my ultimate edition, but the air suspension went early on. It was quite the expensive replacement, so I went with coil springs that have lasted >100,000 miles. Also, while the leather has the benefit of being easily cleaned, I do miss the plush cloth interior of my '93 Marquis.
My now twenty year old Starbucks cup fits nice and tight in the middle of the dashboard, between it and the windshield. It almost never budges. Love my blue murk. The cassette deck is also a bonus. I got to bring my tapes out of retirement, and they're practically giving those away these days too. The 2004 Mercury grand marquis is one of the best years.

You do a nice job. I am looking at a 2004 Grand Marquis. Not the special edition. I wanted to see a review of the under the back seat storage compartment.
If you are getting your first car this is what you want. Just add a rear back up camera. And this is what you want. Plus you can always work on it very easy...
This grand marquis is fairly clean for the mileage and the crown Vic did have a digital cluster as an option after the 98’ refresh but very hard to find. My friend Kenny has a 02 crown Vic with the digital cluster and a leather interior
Got a 92 and a 97 Grand Marquis. They a better looking than the Crown vic cousin but essentially the same car. Some bigger differences in the earlier models ( pre 95 models) with the intakes being all aluminum In those years vs the infamous plastic intake in the 96 to 11 year models
I would buy this over a crown vic PI but I don't dig the one wheel peal burnouts and that air suspension is super expensive and guaranteed to go out. Also I like running on e85 or at least having the option and later model Vic's got more hp out of the 4.6 too.
I have a beigh 04 grand marquis GS for $5000, All analog, no digital luxury. Recently installed an android stereo, and CB radio. Real comfortable and relaxing to drive.
for as much as I love my Ultimate edition, I'd looooove a base model, I set out to find one originally. Everything you need, nothing you don't, and you can easily add whatever it is you want. And I love the look of the hubcaps.
My goal is to find one of these next year. I drive a 2019 DGC and want a secondary car. So far it's gonna be this one vs a Camry or a 2002 to 2004 Nissan Altima at this point.
Midnight blue may be rare but try finding one in Amazon Green and on top that, try finding one with a tan vinyl top with the Park Lane package. May not have been an optional color in 04 but it was an option in 2001. My car is an 01 with the Medium Parchment (tan) interior and Amazon Green exterior. It’s an LS Park Lane, so it has the vinyl top, the chrome wheel arcs, and chrome moldings going down the bottom of it.
I got in a accident with my 05 marquis on a icy bridge. Going about 30 I smacked both sides of the bridge spun around and went off into a bunch of trees. Put her in reverse and drove to work. To call her a tank is a under statement
I got hit head on by 18 wheeler the rear ended by another car doing 60 mph it flipped me 10 times end over end broke both my legs couldn't walk so i drove myself to the hospital... What a beast
Ford/Mercury has used the Ride Engineered dash sticker on their cars since the 70's. I had one on the dash of my 1979 Fairmont and my Aunt's 1976 Granada. Just a sells gimmick.
I have a regular 2004 LS. But most of the features are the same. Yes it rides like you are on a cloud, sale price was upwards of 44k, got it for a steal at 2k.
Mgm’s are cheaper than p71’s. I think because of the perceived performance discrepancy and because admit it or not people want the police powers aka the crown Vic affect.
I have a 2004 mercury grand marquis LS but mines isn't a ultimate edition but I love mines. I love how she runs I just need to change a few things and I'm good

The best car ever. For me better than Town Car! I have 3 different Panthers and I'm incline to buy more for my collection.
I got a 2001 Lincoln town car 63k and I love it I got a bbk 73mm throttle body and a dual exhaust conversion
i was about to search the grand mercury than my youtube recommendation showed me that he reviewed the car all ready
حي هالزول والله ليتهم يرجعونه للسوق
Yes! Looks like the most rarest blue on the MGMM❤
Somebody 5 speed swapped one of these and it popped up on craigslist a few years ago
IMO the higher trim Grand Marquis are as good as any Lincoln Town Car.
As an owner of an 03 LSE and a 03 Cartier Town Car I have to disagree slightly. Only because the leather is nicer in the Town Car
Yo.
Nice Grand Marquis young man. 👍
Yo.
I would buy this over a crown vic PI but I don't dig the one wheel peal burnouts and that air suspension is super expensive and guaranteed to go out. Also I like running on e85 or at least having the option and later model Vic's got more hp out of the 4.6 too.
Love this I got a 2003
I got a 2005 LS almost as nice as this that I'm rebuilding, I really wanna cop one of these too now 😂😂
I have a beigh 04 grand marquis GS for $5000, All analog, no digital luxury.
I know where a green one is right now with 50k on it in mint condition. But...it's a GS with the cloth seats, if that matters to you.
Need to do a 2005-2010 Chrysler 300c
I got in a accident with my 05 marquis on a icy bridge. Going about 30 I smacked both sides of the bridge spun around and went off into a bunch of trees. Put her in reverse and drove to work. To call her a tank is a under statement
I got hit head on by 18 wheeler the rear ended by another car doing 60 mph it flipped me 10 times end over end broke both my legs couldn't walk so i drove myself to the hospital... What a beast
@@ronpackman2266 Sounds like you’re a beast!
I have the car that replaced the Panther platform cars. 2018 Ford Taurus.
U still didn’t open the cup holder all the way it might feel like it doesn’t but that opens up more
the arms for the cupholder do open more you have to pull past that loose stage
Very cool!
Yo.
Why don't these have headrests on the back seats? Model is not that old and also somewhat luxurious not to include this oblivious safety feature
Heads up they actually had the garage door opener starting in the later 80s
Ford/Mercury has used the Ride Engineered dash sticker on their cars since the 70's. I had one on the dash of my 1979 Fairmont and my Aunt's 1976 Granada. Just a sells gimmick.
I have a regular 2004 LS. But most of the features are the same. Yes it rides like you are on a cloud, sale price was upwards of 44k, got it for a steal at 2k.
Mgm’s are cheaper than p71’s. I think because of the perceived performance discrepancy and because admit it or not people want the police powers aka the crown Vic affect.
Yo.
@@PanzerPlatform 😀
Still have my 2010 Ultimate Edition with 230,000 miles. No AC but still daily driver.
Loving the blue.....
I have a 2004 mercury grand marquis LS but mines isn't a ultimate edition but I love mines. I love how she runs I just need to change a few things and I'm good
I would faceift it to look like the Maurader
So would this be a good first car I’m turning 16 and I think I found the one
Would love to see you do a older panther platform 80-90s
Love the wheels n hubbs, tiers too🫶🏻
