The headlights on my 03 Grand Marquis were all baked from the Florida sun and water had gotten in them and caused the screws that hold the bezel inside to rust so there was rusty water sloshing around in there. At the time I couldn't find any affordable replacement lenses so I split them in half, removed the chrome from the bezels, buffed the outside of the lenses and put them back together with the correct sealant so the didn't fog up which happens if RTV cement is used. Bought a mint 2003 Marauder in 2016 that needed some engine work so I swapped the tail lights and trunk lid trim with it to make it look like an interceptor. Came with 16" black steel wheels with chrome spoked wheel covers which I removed, painted the wheels gloss black and added P71 hub caps after getting the correct lug nuts from a Ford ranger at the junkyard. Tinted the windows with some really dark tint and it scares people. The tires on it came off a one ton Dodge flatbed that I took off while working at a dealership. Those tires barely fit on the car but they're awesome. I'm doing 65 when the speedometer says I'm doing 55...
I have a 2004 Grand Marques ls ultimate edition too, and was blowing the air conditioning fuse and found one video on here showing the overdrive cable running on top of the the steering column was shorting out, I used liquid tape then regular tape on top of that to hopefully not have to open that up again, thank you for the great videos.
The blend door actuator in my 03 Grand Marquis died several years ago so i popped it off the heater box with a pry bar and shoved a small piece of hose between the metal 90° rod and the case. Never had to touch the Freon either. The low side pressure sensor failed one day and caused the electric cooling fan to run continuously and wouldn't let the compressor kick in. Not sure how i diagnosed it but i swapped it with the one from my 2003 Crown Vic and it worked perfectly and has ever since. I will never drive anything else.
That's a sweet Mercury Grand Marques! I have the twin sister 05' Crown Vick... same paint and interior but analog gauges. BST just sent me the side trim off an 04' Ultimate including the badges :) It will be going on my 04' LX Sport and deleting the bumper chrome and filling the lines flush for a cleaner look!
I added a Walker dual exhaust system to my 2003 Grand Marquis back in 2015 and replaced both cats with a pair from Eastern Catalytic after one of them got plugged from a spark related misfire. Got the driver's side hangers off an old P71 at the junkyard and they bolted right up to the holes already in the frame. It's never seen salt and the exhaust has held up great over the last 8 years and 100k miles. My 03 and 05 Town Cars came with dual exhaust which is a nice feature of 2003 and newer Town Cars.
Sounds like me. I started out with Chevy “B” body Caprice, added Adco suspension upgrades and graduated to the Panther platform. The Caprice needed massive engine and drivetrain upgrades, I have been happy with the basic Panther cause it also gets fabulous MPG. I don’t want to sacrifice that MPG for seldom used added power. It’s getting harder and harder to take advantage of here in congested NJ. The suspension upgrade however looks interesting.
You’re from Jersey? Thanks for stopping by…I want to feature everyone with a panther in Jersey who’s willing to show off their car! Stock or built or whatever…
Old song 🎵 If I had money, 🎶 I'd buy me 🎵 a MERCURY or two! 🎶Crazy for a MERCURY! 🎵. Have had 78 and 2007 GRAND MARQUIS before finding my 2007 Signature Limited. These are great cars that will last forever when properly cared for. FMC made a huge mistake discontinuing them.
Love it. As a panther fan, owner of many, driver of same 2 for a decade, don't ever flush the trans. Ford has a bulletin saying as much. U can unhook the cooler line and use trans pump to get most of fluid out, Stop engine when it gets low, remove pan and now is gr8 time to install a drain plug. So much easier with a drain plug and not messy at All. As a east coast neighbor get this car oil/wax sprayed so it will look this good in a few yrs. U can do it urself. By saving oil, trans fluid only thing u gotta buy is a tube of grease and a toilet wax gasket, heat in old pot and burner and when wax is melted and liquid put in a decent spray gun and spray. If rusted more than surface, remove flakes n chunks however, spray with a rust reformer, paint with Rust-Oleum black, then oil/wax. Done this to many autos and they all look new decades later. Places want $600 for a basic spray. Insane. It's worth it but still alot of $ if car is in this kind of shape. Gotta stop the rust or it will take over. Save these cars
I bought a 2003 a little over a year ago from my Dad's life long neighbor for ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS. Had to put a couple thousand into it but it's a nice car. Same color, leather etc. I want to eventually put cat backs on it and the same wheels as in this video. Other than some paint w slight bubbling on the driver's side fender lip, the body is clean.
Love these two lol so many great ideas from this video and I even have a mountaineer so getting a spare set of caps is perfect for spare wheels, the 3.73 rear gears on mine feel so good but dang do they limit top speed even though you dont want to go fast on air suspension.. the Sct tuner is absolutely a must
Thanks for stopping by! There’s a playlist on my channel that’s called other cool rides. I will be featuring other makes and models in that playlist soon. I am a car guy. I’m not a Ford guy. I’m not a Chevy guy. I’m not a Japanese car guy so there will be others that are featured, I have not yet came across anyone with the Landau rooftops, as you can see not too many Lincoln either. I would love to get a 80s Lincoln on here and a 90s Lincoln so I’m still on the lookout for owners with those models.
That seems like a popular color for that model year. Only the 05s have a rear quarter panel mounted antenna. I'm surprised it has black B pillars tho. They started painting them the same color as the car halfway through the 2003 model year.
Man I wish I knew where he got those wheel center caps from! I have the aftermarket version of them and want factory looking caps to complete the look.... Edit: paying closer attention to the video answered my own question...derp.
I called my Ford dealer and they only do Transmission flushes. So I called a local transmission shop and they said they do not recommend flushing , they only drop the pan and change the fluid filter. I would never flush mine either.
My o8 mercury grand marquis LS has same options I’m curious what exactly makes it a limited other then a badge. Although it is a nice marquis I’d add it to my fleet lol and toss out my 05 deville which isn’t bad but isn’t a panther platform either 😂
@@LoveWhatYouDrive The only thing I know is it's got the decoupler pully on it which causes the engine and alternator to spin at different speeds so there's less drag on the engine so it may free up some horsepower, I'm not sure.
I like how he adapted the 06 Mustang Bullitt rims to have Mercury centers ...that being said 05 is a weird year ....as they had supplier issues with the company that provided the glass that incorporated the radio antenna...so this is the only year they robbed the antenna off the Mustang and stuck it in the rear fender( why not the front) ?? Also this was the first year for the new generation Air bags and the steering wheel changed .....the first year for the drive by signal ...throttle....no more cable .....the last year for the digital dash option....and Last year for the sun roof .....in 05 some models had the inside gas release button...some didn't.......they were also phasing out the cassette option 05 forward ......05 is a weird year with some changes you don't really realize.....

Ford Mustang wheels
