Classic fake rear roundhouse to rear teep! Bring your back leg up wide as if throwing a roundhouse then change the trajectory as you bring your leg up to a teep. Works best for people who check a lot. It's a good idea to land a solid rear kick first to try and provoke a check.
The last setup you showed here has been my fave for many years. Basically lead hand to distract (jab, hook, etc) followed immediately by rear oblique kick to thigh/knee or rear teep 🙌
@@mikegoodwin5951 If ur against a skilled opponent just use obligue kick. Too low to catch, too hard to block, the only downside is that people in your gym will hate you for it.
Ive applied alot of your techniques in my sparring . Just watchinh your channel and applying it in my training has made me a better fighter !! Thank you sir 🙏
I've been using a lil combo I find super effective to land a lunging lead teep to the face. Start with a lead teep to the body - and as soon as your lead foot returns to the ground go straight into a lunging lead teep to the face. The initial teep to the body creates distance and usually lowers the opponents hands slightly when they think theyre out of range, so if you immediately go into a lunging lead teep up top it often catches them off guard. Seems to piss a lot of people off too so use with caution haha!
Loved that last technique Jeff. Tried it this morning when sparring with my trainer and managed to floor him. I went in with the hook and he saw my right leg come up, I assume he thought I was going for a quick hook into leg kick combination so he went to check it however by doing so had all of his weight on one leg so the teep pushed him off balance on onto his ass. It's the first time I've managed to floor him and he was very impressed. Simply awesome!
I’m 61 yrs old and don’t have quite the flexibility I had in my 20’s and 30’s; but can honestly say that my go to kick is the teep without fail. It does not require the flexibility of a roundhouse or side kick but it still gets the job done. This is the best vid I have seen describing the effectiveness of this simple, yet effective kick. Good Job Mr Chan 🤙🏼
Loved here how you at 2:10 let us know that you "realistically don't throw 3 fake teeps before throwing the teep". Like knowing exactly how you prefer doing the specific move in sparring yourself. Thanks Jeff! 🙏
Loving this new format of live commentary of ur partner demonstrations before sparring footage. Keep it up jeff 👌🏽 btw, you got any fights lined up with ONE this year?

Man, that lunging teep is a thing of beauty and practicality. Always happy watching this guy's content because he brings things that are "obvious but not obvious" and creative types of techniques. I mean I would have never thought of a lunging teep, even though it is suppose to be obvious that you can do it.
Brilliant. When I first started training MT, I was told that my teeps were pretty good. I've kinda strayed away from them recently, but after watching this I'm inspired to make them a staple again. Such a quick attack. I see so many ways to build off that rear teep too (i.e. once the opponent is used to it, start faking it and go for a superman) Can definitely see someone winning an entire fight building off just a teep and a jab

@@MMAShredded at least you can say you fought and won in one of the biggest organizations in the world! Nice man !! I’ve joined a Muay Thai gym about 3 weeks ago and have been drilling a lot of your combos. The low kick combos helped me so much it’s insane. I’m having trouble in teeping a bit and this is what I needed! Thank you! Can you in the near future do another Muay Thai Effective Sparring combos video again (Update) or even a combos to defend the teep. Either way I’m locked into your videos !
This Hook -> Teep is SWEET!! The way you chamber the leg and throws it reminds me of the Savate's "chasse frontal", and I can imagine that the same combo could be used not only to the mid section, but also to the hips, thigh or knee, as well as be followed up with other kicks or punches
My teep needs A LOT of work. I throw it out but it never lands. Hopefully this video helps my technique. Gonna try the lunging teep tomorrow when I get to train. Thank you for the content
Absolutely adore the teep. Such a low risk yet effective technique. A truly beneficial tool to add to the repertoire of any striking aficionado. Yours looks almost like the side teep of the great Samart Payakroon. Keep up the outstanding content brother!

What do you think about what the taekwondo circles call the cut kick? The name differences between styles is definitely confusing, but from what I understand this is like a sliding side kick with the front leg. In some extreme cases they even hold this leg out to counter incoming kicks (got so bad in the era of electronic point detectors that they require you to kick if you lift your leg and can't just hang out, especially as rules disallow kicking the grounded leg)
@@MMAShredded if you search "Taekwondo Cut Kick" you can see what it is. What I've noticed with Taekwondo terms in general is that they often deviate from other kicking martial arts. But lots of videos on the subject due to its utility in Olympic Taekwondo.
Beginner here - kind of hard to judge by the video but how hard would you recommend throwing the teep when in sparring? It lands in the stomach correct? Assuming that would hurt quite a bit!
On the last one, why not throw the hook with the same side you’re teeping with since your momentum is going that way and you’re not really throwing the punch. What am I missing?
I'm curious, what tips do you recommend for landing that teep?!
Throw one hard low kick then feint it and twist your leg into a teep
Classic fake rear roundhouse to rear teep! Bring your back leg up wide as if throwing a roundhouse then change the trajectory as you bring your leg up to a teep. Works best for people who check a lot. It's a good idea to land a solid rear kick first to try and provoke a check.
The last setup you showed here has been my fave for many years. Basically lead hand to distract (jab, hook, etc) followed immediately by rear oblique kick to thigh/knee or rear teep 🙌
I really like the first one very simple and quick.
Do a check teep to the thigh to prevent advancement and then do a lunge teep. Works wonders!
Love the teep, very effective in keeping an aggressive opponent at bay.
:) cheers!
Unless he’s skilled at catching then you better have a back up plan
The back up plan is to go for the teep again, then swing it around to a question mark kick with full knock out force
You're probably only gonna get 1 opportunity to set that up, so dont be timid about it when you see the chance.
@@mikegoodwin5951 If ur against a skilled opponent just use obligue kick. Too low to catch, too hard to block, the only downside is that people in your gym will hate you for it.

On the last one, why not throw the hook with the same side you’re teeping with since your momentum is going that way and you’re not really throwing the punch. What am I missing?
never tried that, but thinking about it, I believe it would disrupt your balance because the same side arm should swing straight down for a teep.
