Shout Out to Frank Brickowski, he just got his longest highlight reel since he was playing. I see you Jxmy, showing love to the unknowns of NBA history.
@@jeremybrown9611 Hell nahh, Giannis is averaging 24, 11, 6 in the 90s. Garnett played in the 00s but I can't think of anyone else who could match his agility and toughness at the rim.
8:10 “Physical defense does not automatically mean good defense” Oldhead: “You’re telling me that punching someone while they’re driving to the hoop and then call them 'weak' afterwards is not good defense??” 🤯🤯
When someone punches you out, they have the opportunity to call you whatever they want. But really, at least they were playing defense (good or bad) compared to no defense played at all, today. It just made the game more exciting when a offensive player burned a defensive player going to the basket. Todays players have a open path to the basket. So todays players should be averaging 40 points or more and the teams should be averaging 120 points on upward a game but don't. It's really hard explaining it to someone that wasn't there.
@@donaldbutler6243 I was there, and disagree with you about pretty much everything. Occasionally hacking someone is not even defense, it's a chump move. Having to cover the amount of ground required in today's game is grueling, as opposed to just packing the paint and pushing each other. Lots of upright defenders when you check out clips from decades past, a stance that would get you benched real quick nowadays. Considering that the money, tactical expertise, coaching body of knowledge, training, talent pool etc have all grown considerably over the last several decades, it would be almost mathematically impossible for the players to somehow get worse. The rules and strategies and skill-sets have all changed, but that alone makes the game different, not worse, and objectively the level of skill, effort and overall competition is higher.
lukasaliheim it's okay we disagree, but I'm not talking about hacking (shaq a hack). I'm talking about real physical defense (pre hack a shaq). And yes clogging the lanes was one of them. In todays game there is no real defense that is allowed to be played. Granted, nobody needs to get (needlessly) hurt, but truthfully speaking there's a risk at everything. Todays flopping is an embarrassment to the game. So I quess acting lessons are involved. Which is probably the worst part of todays advanced NBA. Lastly though, todays NBA players are not more skilled than than NBA players of the past. They aren't.
When I watched this video, I remembered how legendary the 2015-2016 season was. - Kobe's retirement and last game 60 points - GSW 73-9 - Maybe the best dunk contest ever - Oklahoma's 3-1 loss in conference finals and KD had his first poor playoff performance While westbrooke had his first good playoff performance (This serie changed the nba because Kd went to golden state after that) - Game 6 Klay - Stephen curry Unanimous MVP - and of course Cavs comeback from 3-1 (first time in the finals history) and lebron's most meaningful championship and blok
You forgot to mention the blatant rigging by the league officials in the finals though. For context- that Draymond suspension was suspect, as no calls were actually made during the play. Only hours after the game after Bron lobbied for his suspension was he magically given a flagrant thus the suspension.. Now given how physical the whole series was, watch all the fouls Steph got in game 6, where he got 2 calls right away in the 1st quarter before eventually fouling out. Those calls were also suspect and soft asf. Watch how the Cavs try to deny the ball to Steph and how physical they were in defending him, aside from trying to "bump" him every chance they get. And you compare those soft a** fouls. You can try to re-watch as videos for both were uploaded here somewhere.
@@JohnnyBGood-vm7rx bro it happened in 2016 and you’re still mad enough to come up with bullshit like this😭. Bad calls happen bro😭, and if you haven’t noticed the more physical team usually gets more of the calls, there’s no way you believe the desperate Cavaliers weren’t outright being more physical than the Warriors who were sure they had the series in the bag. Also it’s hard to not see that Lebron and Kyrie simply figured them out, they were simply playing better than them for a good bit at the end there. Like there’s literally a 0.4 difference in the personal foul averages between the two teams, this series ain’t have nothing to do with the officials.
@@JohnnyBGood-vm7rx anyone with a league pass account and half a brain has re watched that series over and over in the off season's since it happened. No more "rigged' than any other series. You guys got your's and then some since then anyway, maybe time to swallow your pride and admit you got beaten by an all time performance from some all time players? just a thought homie...
Lol funny how these LeFraud stans are full of excuses but none have addressed those issues of suspension and fouls.. that Draymond suspension, no call was made during the play, even in the game. They had to make one up after LeFraud cried for hours to the league after the game.. Maybe he can get one again by jumping to a contender and warming their bench.. man has no pride. 😂😂
What baffles me more about the disrespect old timers like Oakley show to Giannis is that he’s actually playing old school basketball. Taking it to the rim hard rather than being flashy and cute, absorbing and dealing back physical punishment, insane commitment to both ends of the floor, power dunks, you name it. IIf you add the crazy progress he’s made since his first couple of seasons, his devotion to the city that drafted him, the fact that all his teammates love him (there’s 4-5 guys right now with him in his holidays to Greece, Pat, Carter, Nwora etc) and again, his sheer physical dominance it’s really a mystery how you can sit there with a straight face and publicly claim he’d be a role player back in the day. Go figure.
That was my first reaction watching it. In the 90’s if you import current Gianni’s into 1992 he is the second best player in the league behind you know who
The irony is that, by and large, the people saying that Giannis would be a roleplayer in the 90s *would be roleplayers in today's game.* (Not all, but a lot of them.)
the 2016 finals was one of the most improbably unprecedented series in sports history, and it is an absolute travesty to see that people are seemingly so quick to forget this; yes, the final scores at face-value seem decisive in every other game except for 7, but the fact that each team kept clapping back in such dramatic fashion was part of what made it so competitive and unpredictable, and nobody even remembers the fact that the teams were actually so evenly matched that each team had scored the exact same amount of points in the series going into game 7. all of that on top of the cavs winning n making nba history w the comeback and lebron making his ultimate statement.... it was fucking historic on every level
the suspension softens that series and kills its impact tbh, and then the Bogut injury. The OKC comeback from 3-1 by GSW was more memorable. When you have a superstar campaigning and swaying the NBA to suspend the second best player on the other team, it's a stain that isn't going to go away. It also smells of corruption. Would Jordan or Kobe have done that? No way, they are way too competitive. It was definitely entertaining though.
@@Slyme1big I wouldn't say it was fixed, but it felt pretty corrupt. The refs in game 6 were ridiculous, the suspension was retarded. It took away from the magic of the series.
LeBron's chase down block on Iguodala is one of the greatest moments in sports of our generation. I'm glad I stayed up until 5 am to watch it live. 2016 NBA finals were lit.
You right, but during the 90's finals staying up until 5am was every year routine, 90's finals were the best ever. The Bulls team was the best show you could get & that final shot by MJ was the best moment you could asked for.
@@boazsides u from that time? Honest question. What was the vibe actually like. Was it something like "wathever mj n bulls r just going to win another chip" or was there a legitimate hype for the other team? Were the bulls ever the underdog?

Evenly matched is crazy, warriors had igoudala and curry playing through injuriesc bogut getting hurt in game 5 draymond also missing that game so no rim protection
@@NonStopJayy you said it. GSW was hosed as Rick Barry (if I recall correctly) said. Seems that the gods wanted GSW to lose. I remember the play when JR Smith took down Bogut. No penalty despite a clear undercutting dangerous foul.
I was rooting for the Warriors in 2016 and looking back, that’s the most excited I have still been in the past ten years of NBA Finals. Personally, I will remember it as the best and most meaningful performance of LeBron James’ career and a breakout season for Kyrie.
Tell me about it. I was at game 7 and I am still puzzled, haunted, how come there was only one made FG in the last 4 minutes of this game and it was Cavaliers’. It was painful to watch. Brick after brick 🧱
Im still not redeemed after 3 chips like honestly if lbj and kyrie reunite then we beat them on the finals only 25% is gonna be redeemed like hell even only 10%
Would kyrie listen to bron tho? Cuz if kyrie listens to bron, they have a chance at winning something. Not only kyrie could facilitate he has lob threats in ad and lbj.
@@itzsinsss5751 Would kind of defeat the purpose of returning if he doesn’t, or at the very least return to whatever they had in Cleveland if it wasn’t him “listening to Bron”. As a Cavs fan, the 2016 finals were so incredibly captivating. I got to be in the CLE Q when we won game 7. I'll never have a better cultural/sports moment and I'm totally fine with that. I mean, it was so unbelievable that it wasn't even like watching basketball. It was like the city of Cleveland was the most alive its ever been
As a Warriors fan that is how I felt when we captured our 4th championship in the Curry era, I went to the watch party at chase center and it was the most amazing experiences ever, and after no other city in the world was more alive than San Francisco everyone was honking their horns and screaming “Warriors” and buildings were lit up with Warriors colors it felt like I wasn’t on earth anymore. The 2016 finals was the first full finals I ever watched - from EUROPE! I had to stay up all night until like 5:30 in the morning just to watch the whole game and I watched EVERY game! That’s how exciting that series was!
Oakley just wanted a piece of that "older guys trashing current nba players" action and failed miserably - i mean, even shaq sounds butthurt when talking shit to donovan or others, and what the heck did oakley do comparatively to earn the right to shit on giannis? giannis is on track to be top 25 all time easy, where does oakley stand?
Please make more of these. I think Charles Oakley has early-stage dementia. Giannis is stronger and quicker than as any player of that era with the exception of Shaq in strength (he was also unbelievably quick) and probably as you said similar to the Admirial. That would have been a great match up to see. Every once in a while, I see posts that state that Larry Bird would have been a below average shooter in this era. Hard to imagine a 50, 40, 90 player would be a bad shooter and they did not even practice the 3 point shot. Who knows but perhaps he would have been a Steph Curry like talent if the game had been different. I have also seen people commenting that Jokic would have been a sub par center in the physical game of the 80s. Really, a guy that can pass and shoot like he can, and listening to Draymond Green, not exactly a weak player himself, saying that Jokic is not soft at all. I wish I could find for you that Jokic comment.
Nah, a lot of these guys just trying to inflate their own worth, or even just get some attention. But I would like to see Giannis and peak Shawn Kemp go at it, before Kemp became an alcoholic and put on 60 pounds. My money would be on Giannis but it would be fun as hell.
@@David-iv6je KEMP couldnt make anything in the 90s. HE was just a HIGHLIGHT PLAYER. GIANNIS would be just like him. Both cant shoot...but at least KEMP could post up BIGS.
Yup and Turing the ball over is overlooked just see Lebron for that. That man has the most turn overs but yet we call him one of the best passing big men. How when you have the most turn overs?
What makes nba players great is their utilization of their specific abilities and skills. Shaq didn't need a jump shot, KD doesn't need 300 pounds of muscle. These guys can adapt.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but whenever I hear people talk about the greatness of Shaq it generally comes down to his size and his strength, which allowed him to operate with impunity in the low post. After all, he was literally one of the heaviest men to ever play in the NBA. Meanwhile, he had poor work ethic, infamously poor shooting and his speed faded over the years along with his fitness level. Would he be dominant in today's NBA? Well, he'd certainly get his share of post lay-ups and he'd get plenty of rebounds, but that's only if he could keep up with the rate of play. Most plays would be over before Shaq was in position.... and let's not pretend he'd be a) taking many midrange or outside shots or b) defending them. Young Shaq? Sure, he could probably stay in and contribute. Shaq from the mid-2000s? Ummm.... they'd be giving him oxygen on the sidelines between plays.
I get his point . But it was the storyline leading up to game 7, a finals rematch that literally everybody wanted to see , curry looking like he was gonna take bron spot as the best player , klay taking shots bron , bron blocking curry telling him he’s still the king , everything leading up to game 7 was perfect , and then game 7 itself was perfect .
Agreed! Still get shivers to this day watching Bron's block on Iggy and the "OHH BLOCK BY JAMES" is a soundbite that is and always will be permanently cemented in my memory.
It lowkey was better because of the blowouts until game 7. Both teams were showing that any given night the other could just dominate the other. It’s rlly the only reason ppl though that it was a possibility for a 3-1 comeback. And even if it was just boring until game 7, the fact that a team came back from 3-1 in the finals automatically makes it the best in history regardless.
As a guy who grew up watching basketball in the sixties, the players weren't more physical than today, the rules just allowed them to get away with being more physical, which the rules don't allow today. Also, coming up through the years were centers who rarely had a 3 point shot . Today's game overall is far more exciting to watch and the players overall have more skills!!!
I took a long break from anything basketball since 2012, only recently been getting back into the culture, and even I remember how big that 2016 playoff series was off, it was hard for me not to ignore the news and see a couple of games when I had the chance.
That Giannis take is already a living meme pretty much. Also yeah while the final score for each game of 2016 looks huge, in Game 5, it was wire to wire in the first half and didnt get blown open till the end. Game 6 started off a blowout but there was a near fourth quarter comeback that was derailed by a couple insane LeBron plays and a few bad calls by the refs.
Charles oakley is hatin'. Plain and simple. Facts over feelings as my dude Chis Brousard would say. On another note, he played for the Knicks.... how many titles has that franchise won since i began waking the earth.....0. Also I'd like to add I love how during the Chicago Bulls documentary they talked about how the 90s media was so terrible that it made Michael Jordan retire if Michael Jordan played in today's NBA during that time frame with the media now my God he would have stayed retired
Not to mention social media. Players today talk to friends in the same space millions of people are trashing them day in day out, its got to be weird to not be able to escape it, back in the day when you went home you were home unless some crazy fan showed up to yell at you or something before police come
No NBA player today moves the needle like MJ did. LBJ had the lowest rated finals since Magic and Bird WITH SOCIAL MEDIA and everyone stuck at home with nothing to do but watch TV. MJs documentary had more viewers than the finals. MJ was on that Beatles mania vibe. He won three, dipped then three peated again. LBJ is constantly talked about and of course he's highly respected but that's because we have a media now that chases social media engagement so they ignore everyone else to rehash the same talking points ad nauseam. Shows dont pull the same traffic now anyway. Does anyone think that ESPN is better now?
@@kultan2000 all the outlets with social media, debate shows, and league pass and stuff will only make live tv ratings go down, not up. I was randomly on a family vacation in San Francisco during the 2016 finals and holy the amount of energy there was in every bar and restaurant while the games were on was absolutely insane, like everyone knew they were watching a real piece of basketball history, the king vs the best regular season team of all time
The main reason why high level players are teaming up so much in the past 10 years is because of 'ring culture'. If we really want to prevent superteams from forming then the media and fans need to stop obsessing over rings and judging players abilities and talents by how many rings they have. The NBA media, fans and players are obsessed with legacies and all time rankings, much more so than any other sport. No matter how good a particular player is, if they don't have at least one ring by the time they retire, their legacies are stained. Almost like they're considered busts. Part of this started with LeBron who has had by far the most pressure to deliver of any player in the history of the NBA, starting from when he was a junior in high school. The NBA media has followed his entire career with the expectation that he would be the next MJ or GOAT candidate and has been obsessed with his 'legacy' ever since 2002. Because of that, he felt he needed to maximize his talent and live up to expectations and win as many rings as possible. Now it has spread to nearly every superstar of the past 10 years. They all feel pressure to win rings because without a ring, NBA fans and media will call you a failure, or not clutch, or not a winner. Ring culture is toxic to NBA. Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal have decided to tough it out with the teams they were drafted by instead of forcing trades to other teams with superstars so they can win rings. If they retire without winning any titles they will be vilified for not having any rings and not caring about winning. LeBron/KD/Harden change teams often because they want rings to boost their legacies, and they are vilified as well for chasing rings. Stop judging players by how many rings they have and the superteams will stop.
NBA fans are by far the most toxic fans in the sports world. No matter what they’ll always find something to shit on. We ridicule guys like kd for leaving to go have a better chance at winning but bash guys like Dame and Beal because they want to stay loyal. We try to discredit rings and say someone else saved another stars legacy like why can’t we all just appreciate the game and the stars that play because guys like bron, curry, and kd are almost done in this league 🥲
Exactly what I was thinking. As a football we consider Messi and Ronaldo the best players of all time even though they both never won the most prestigious trophy someone could win aka the world cup. Messi has less trophies than Ronaldo, but it gets never brought up to conversations. Cause statistically they both on pair with lots of things and far ahead from the rest
Bradley Beal is actually the worst contract in the NBA at the moment. OK, so he is loyal to the WIzz, I will also be loyal if you will pay me 250M$, promise you. A loyal player isn't ruining his club future
What are you talking about, ring culture? Yeah, that's the point of being in the NBA. God. Stay on the couch dude, and stop with that pure garbage, people want to play with great players and win. Win. You know, the thing you probably never do.
@@schamgardilungani-dilu4430 That's not the same thing at all, the world cup is like the OLYMPICS. KD & Kyrie teamed up to prove that they could both win a championship on their own and it imploded in 3 years. Kyrie let KD and the whole organization down w his dependability and KD let everyone down by not taking initiative and being a leader. This imploded in their faces and turned out to be the biggest flop in NBA history
Did you forget about the Lakers not even making the play in? That's the most disappointing flop we've seen in a while. With three "superstars" that's just criminal. At least the nets made it to the playoffs. And even though they got swept it wasn't like every game they played against the celtics didn't go down to the wire. That's a team with an historically great defense that was only 2 wins away from being NBA champions. But I agree with everything you said about KD and Kyrie.

I disagree with the fact that players are getting "mentally softer" because they reply to people on twitter because you know damn well lots of players would have been on twitter fighting with people if it was around and as mainstream as it is today. It's also got to be said that fans have become more brazen with their hatred and for these guys to keep their cool and not have another malice in the palace seems like it goes unnoticed how calm mannered a lot of players actually are. As the fan base of the nba grows, so does the hatred from fans and we forget that athletes are people too.
A lot of current players use twitter. But even more so a lot more of ex players use twitter to give hot takes by the dozen. You see a whole host of ex B tier players get twitter fingers. They would melt under the scrutiny of a current 15-30 rank player.

True. I've said for so long that MJ would be incredible in this era, and would devvelop an outisde shot when he needs to if he fit the new era. Great players would be great in every era,
Today's fact: A photon takes 40,000 years to travel from the core of the sun to the surface of the sun. But it takes just eight minutes to travel from there to the earth.
Thank you for this lmao. The worst take I've probably seen personally is that Luka is a bum and should be happy that he's even in the league still as apparently the average career of an AVERAGE NBA PLAYER is 3 years. They then went ahead and send that he has regressed in all 3 years he's been in the league.
Hot Take: We don't emphasize Turnovers enough when discussing players legacies. A turnover is the 2nd worst play in basketball after allowing your opponent to score with bad defense. Turnovers are worse than missed shots because at least missed shots provide offensive rebound and 2nd-shot opportunities. A turnover has no redeeming value. 2nd Hot Take: Why don't we talk about how the Eastern Conference has been, by a significant margin, far inferior to the Western Conference since MJ retired? (Go look up the amount of 50 Win Teams the West has produced since MJ retired compared to the East, not even close).
@@benigogo it's not wrong at the very least by his metric. In terms of 50 win seasons, in the 19 seasons since Jordan retired, the West has had more 50 win teams in 14 seasons, 3 seasons there were an equal number of 50 win teams, and only 2 seasons (2017-18 and 2019-20) when the East had more 50 win teams than the West. If you add them all up, the East has had 49 teams win 50 games since Jordan retired, and the West has had 90. If you think the East has been a stronger conference than the West in that timeframe (or on par), how are you measuring it? And I am a fan of a team in the East.
The West being way better than the East has been talked about incessantly for decades lol Also a turnover is probably actually statistically worse than giving your opponent a free basket because on top of the huge efficiency on fast breaks you're also giving up your own scoring opportunity
My NBA hot take is that when superstars team up everybody needs to give them a few years before they call it a bust or letdown. Teams need time to learn how to play together. It took the Bucks a very long time to win a chip, any other team would be trying to make a deal for a big superstar to help Giannis. GIVE TEAMS TIME TO GET THEIR CHEMISTRY RIGHT
That's the point. The existing teams have played together and thus, are winning more championship. So, if superstars are teaming up through trades, then they are looking for a quick and easy chip. And if that doesn't happen, then yes, they are a bust cause what else is the point of the team up?
Ofc it takes time for teams to build chemistry to win a championship, the whole thing about super teams is that super stars are teaming up knowing it would be easier to win one because of the absurd amount of talent in one team. Warriors 2017-2019 for example had two mvp players and among the greatest individual players oat, klay a top 5 best shooter in history and elite 2 way player, draymond elite defender and dpoy, this team is ridiculously much better than the next best team at the time. So on paper it should be easier for super teams to win one because they’re too good compared to others, but some work and some don’t, imo it depends on the team, warriors worked cuz kd joined a team already with culture and championship dna, the nets didn’t cuz they did a clean sweep and build the team around the big 3, but nothing to show for it
It baffles me when people say “blank” player wouldn’t stack up back in “blank” date bc it was so much more physical. You wanna know why it was so much more physical back in the day? Because the refs didn’t give a frick. In todays nba fouls are called for LITERALLY ANYTHING. Anyone who watched these past finals, heck, these pst playoffs as a whole would know that. Multiple times where players got called for fouls when there was literally no contact at all. If Lebron, Giannis, Embiid, etc could chokeslam and haymaker people they 100% would. Just because older players were allowed to do that stuff and current players aren’t doesnt make todays players weak. Plus the nba has almost “groomed” the current players to act how they do now. They flop because if you can get a free 2 points you’re gonna take it. The new foul has changed the perception of physicality in the nba, and that’s not the players fault. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
Tbh I like it physicall but a cleaner game is way better for longevitiy of the players. Finesse on the Ball is necassary, smaller people can go into the paint etc
@@zulfyby Yeah, a balance of both calls would be great. A lot of people wants the old physicality era, when that would risk players to multiple injuries.
I agree, players should not be penalized for teaming up to win championships because all organizations are not created equally. Some organizations don't know how to win championships. Having stated that I must push back on players requesting trades in the middle of contract limits. Players should play contracts out them make moves. What LeBron did going from Cleveland to Miami is not What AD did leaving New Orleans going to Los Angeles. LeBron left after contract expired AD demanded trade in the middle of contract term.
@@atomant830 nah Fuck that. They don’t have a problem trading a player in the middle of a game while he’s under contract. So if a player wants a trade there’s no problem with it either
@@SKTV1991 Yeah, it is bad when a team trades a player and don't let the player know they're shopping him and worst sometimes tell the player they're not going to trade him then does so, but a player of KD's caliber can demand a "no trade clause" in his contract that would keep a team from doing that.
I think team chemistry outside of the court is far more important than GM’s take into account, if any at all. A cohesive unit is far scarier than a couple superstars with no chemistry.

Love the content. My hot take is that Gary Payton is arguably a top 30 player of all time. Don’t think he gets the recognition he deserves because his best year was 2000 (aka Shaq’s coronation) and because his prime was during the dead ball era of the NBA, so his numbers look worse than his impact.
Hot take: Hakeem Olajuwon would average over 30 in the modern NBA, the guy gave shaq a hard time on offense and defense and was essentially the most skilled center of his Era with a bag perfect for the Modern NBA
Hakeem’s scoring is below league average in terms of efficiency today. Good teams aren’t wanting a guy taking multiple long 2’s and long post ups in games. More likely he averages less not more
I’ve always said the same about the Giannis-Robinson comp. Robinson was very fast and athletic and great on the break. If they’d given him the green light to develop and use skills like ball handling and 3 point shooting, I have no doubt he’d be what Giannis is today. Probably a better shooter too. Only thing he lacked is the meanness/mental toughness Giannis has.
Hot Take: Rasheed Wallace was one of the best big men to every play the game, but was targeted by the referees because of his attitude. If only Sheed had a little bit of modesty, he would have multiple rings.
9:09 to be fair, David Robinson was a center, so Oakley’s assignment was Rodman, Ewing had Robinson but yes, Robinson torched the Knicks, especially in the 1999 finals, most underrated center in NBA history imo
Look Jim, even back then(Jordan, Bird, Magic)players would sometimes throw tantrums for calls. Literally fights would break out and people like Larry Bird are calling for a foul even though he didn't get hurt. It doesn't matter about the era, its about the NBA organization as a whole. They need to find a medium between no-calls on plays where there should be calls and being too soft. This is my hot take.
I feel people forget that MJ would literally get fouls cause he’s MJ. Like a video literally has a conversation like, “That was a foul ref” “I didn’t see it but I believe you Mike” Like this is just the NBA, it’s always been like this
@@error8119 Lol,interestingly enough the ref didn't overturn the call,he just said he believed him. But it's a fact superstars get superstars treatment. Jordan got a lot of those, mostly during the second 3peat.
@@davidschmidt1793 didn’t mean to insinuate that, no he didn’t overturn it, I was just trying to give an example of stars worrying about fouls and the refs allowing it even back then. My bad if it sounded like I was saying they changed the call cause Jordan said so
What was so great about the 90s, teams built organically. But,once they were on the world stage, they blew the completion away. These newer players, dont know how to gel like that.
🔥 Hot take: Hakeem Olajuwon is the greatest center of all time. He’s just more skilled and simply better at basketball than Kareem. He reinvented how we play in the post.
@@helenhua2970 hmm, defence by mile my friend, not to mention shooting, carrying, footwork, playmaking agility and athleticism has to account for something.
6:29 - Thinking that a player good enough to lead their team to a championship as the undisputed FMVP would be coming off the bench in ANY ERA is an absolutely INSANE take; legit probably the dumbest take I’ve ever heard. that dude’s seeing green fr
Yes more.. truly interesting ideas that will probably make me more interested into the leauge with an unfortunate manner of having an aggresive hello when I see an official NBA Team's manager.
I’m from Cleveland so it may be some bias here. But that 2016 championship had to be the most exciting run from START of the season to the very end. Most exciting finals I’ve ever watched
Also yes, the 70s-90s All-Stars relied on a carte blanche to whip and hassle, both at offense and defense. It's the way they learned to play. Most of them (some not, some left outs in the NCAA back then would have skills too) would've learned to dribble and throw from 3 today, as Giannis and Jokic wouldn't be accounted for double murder for throwing hands playing in the old days.
The best come back in the finals is the Bulls 1992 game 6. Down 15 entering the 4th Qtr. Pippen and the bench mob roar back to even with Michael cheering from the bench. Bobby Hanson baybee! SAY HIS NAME!
Players are great because they play in this era. They look at this current NBA and they see what works and adjust their play to make sure they work. if the current Giannis played in the 90's he might not score as much but if Giannis played in the 90's he'd be able to match almost(mj) any player
Hot take: Jrue Holiday is the most underrated point guard. I'd rather choose him over most point guards in the league. Becuase after he showcased his superb defensive prowess in the 2021 Finals, basketball iq, and physicality, I could say that he's more reliable than CP3 and Trae, especially in the playoffs. Unlike other point guards that drop 30 a game, he's more of getting everyone in his team involved in the game and knows when to step up when the team needs to score. He could have played a better match up against Steph if the Bucks played the 2022 Finals.

8:10 “Physical defense does not automatically mean good defense”
Oldhead: “You’re telling me that punching someone while they’re driving to the hoop and then call them 'weak' afterwards is not good defense??” 🤯🤯
„Youre soft youngbuck. In my days people would knock you tf out“
When someone punches you out, they have the opportunity to call you whatever they want.
@@donaldbutler6243 I actually agree with everything you said except about the skill of players, but that's a long conversation :)
When I watched this video, I remembered how legendary the 2015-2016 season was.
- Kobe's retirement and last game 60 points
- GSW 73-9
- Maybe the best dunk contest ever
- Oklahoma's 3-1 loss in conference finals and KD had his first poor playoff performance While westbrooke had his first good playoff performance (This serie changed the nba because Kd went to golden state after that)
- Game 6 Klay
- Stephen curry Unanimous MVP
- and of course Cavs comeback from 3-1 (first time in the finals history) and lebron's most meaningful championship and blok
You forgot to mention the blatant rigging by the league officials in the finals though. For context-
that Draymond suspension was suspect, as no calls were actually made during the play.
Oh yeah he likes to ring chase right?
Go figure.
Charles Oakley has no friends there’s a reason why Barkley actually have people liking him thus roasting him Oakley is just a clown off court
Exactly! Giannis’ game is arguably the most portable to 80s/90s era basketball in todays league, like come on man, you are embarrassing yourself
Giannis at 6'11 and 250 lbs in the 90's will be a juggernaut and by far outweighs anyone but Malone in that era. Man's made from pure muscle
the 2016 finals was one of the most improbably unprecedented series in sports history, and it is an absolute travesty to see that people are seemingly so quick to forget this; yes, the final scores at face-value seem decisive in every other game except for 7, but the fact that each team kept clapping back in such dramatic fashion was part of what made it so competitive and unpredictable, and nobody even remembers the fact that the teams were actually so evenly matched that each team had scored the exact same amount of points in the series going into game 7. all of that on top of the cavs winning n making nba history w the comeback and lebron making his ultimate statement.... it was fucking historic on every level
the suspension softens that series and kills its impact tbh, and then the Bogut injury.

You mean Giannis "You Can't Touch Me" Antetokounmpo?
Have you seen Jimmy's video about what if Steph Curry was 7 ft tall? It basically makes a point similar to this one
Many of todays stars would have A CAREER ENDING NERVOUS BREAKDOWN after getting hacked on the way to the basket just once from a 90's defender.

@@tnk4me4 no they just see negative things when it comes to kd. Lebron is playing with 2 hall of famers and couldn't make the playoffs but they choose to ignore that
Nets let themselves down thinking they were better w/o Kyrie. That was stupid.. Led to KD getting hurt and Harden wanting out. Should've let him play road games from the jump. If you're not gonna let him play w/o vaccine then stick to your guns but don't bring him back to be the scapegoat when y'all were the reason he missed some of those games. Mandate would've ended and they could've made a finals run. Nets organization and Harden played a part as well. We're not bout to put all this on KD & Kyrie.
Nah they’re definitely softer. Devin Booker can’t handle a mascot, those dude’s are softer than charmin.
The whole world is softer because we mostly live in peace and the rise of mental health

When MJ says, "STOP IT, GET SOME HELP.." then that's exactly what you should do😂
Hot Take: We don't emphasize Turnovers enough when discussing players legacies.
Well during the time when bron was in miami and 2nd time in Cleveland the east was just as good maybe even better than the west so
Can any of you people who talk this legacy shit even play basketball?
Your 2nd take isn’t a hot one. It’s just straight up wrong. Damn these MJ fans trying to find anything to make him look better.
The West being way better than the East has been talked about incessantly for decades lol
Also a turnover is probably actually statistically worse than giving your opponent a free basket because on top of the huge efficiency on fast breaks you're also giving up your own scoring opportunity
So on paper it should be easier for super teams to win one because they’re too good compared to others, but some work and some don’t, imo it depends on the team, warriors worked cuz kd joined a team already with culture and championship dna, the nets didn’t cuz they did a clean sweep and build the team around the big 3, but nothing to show for it
Same thing with Brown and Tatum. It takes time.
I literally burst out laughing when MJ say stop it! Get some help! 😂

Facts. Always gonna be pro player. Fuck taking pay cuts and giving loyalty to a billionaire
My Dude…. Always on Point 👍🏿

Best channel about NBA I've seen so far. Thanks and keep the nice work!
This is my hot take.
that's not even a warm take, that's just a reasonable take 😂😂
I feel people forget that MJ would literally get fouls cause he’s MJ. Like a video literally has a conversation like,
