    I've been anticipating this monitor for a while now so I did go into this with high expectations and I was NOT disappointed! The new OLED panel from ASUS ROG is absolutely stunning from both a design and functionality perspective bringing stunning visuals with excellent HDR performance.
    Gaming at 240Hz on a 27" OLED panel is really something else. Being a 4K user myself, I did feel a little reserved initially thinking that 2K would feel underwhelming but I was wrong, so wrong. The colour depth, brightness and overall 'feel' this panel provides is nothing short of breath taking. Certain games such as 'Ori and the will of the whisp' as demonstrated in this video felt so magical due to the HDR really 'popping' out of the screen.
    Using a camera to capture the magic at work on this OLED panel will never truly give a real representation, but I hope it can give you a sense of feel and a greater understanding of the wizardry at work here! :D
    Overall, I'm totally stoked to see ASUS ROG innovating once again and bringing flagship performance to a smaller, more affordable gaming display! Keep your eyes on the ASUS main pages for release info and where to buy.

    Its so hard to choose the monitor I need this past month. Lots of good thing. THank you for this review.
    On this very specific model, I'am kind of afraid of the lack of respons in the EOTF curve (especially for the dark tones) and the lack of precision in color gammut at high brightness. I'am looking for the perfect combination of Gaming/productivity Monitor, the holly grail.
    The LG is more accurate in terms of colors and EOTF, the alienware is an ultrawide (interesting for photo editing) and this one is better in britghtness. So hard to choose.

      Doesn't even matter if you can afford it lol, this monitor has no release date, it's not even on sale yet, Asus has given zero info on it in terms of pricing or release date and is still radio silent.
      We of course know the price is 999, which is actually really good for what you get here. Only complaints are no glossy finish, and the HDMI support. If you use display port though and are coming from a matte finish monitor, it's not bad at all. Assuming they fix the HDR issues. If they do, I'll buy this monitor for sure.

    • @Mr_Matt_Lee
      @Mr_Matt_Lee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NorthernLaw_ the HDR issues have been fixed with the latest firmware update. The previous reviews were on pre-release firmware which media failed to explain for the most part. With that noted, through the extensive testing I’ve carried out so far I’ve experienced zero HDR issues. But of course, should this change, I’ll make note of it in a community post :)
      In terms of release date, it has been officially released, theres just a slog getting them into stores which I can’t explain. Many people have been fortunate over the last few weeks to snag them on the official ASUS web store as/when they’ve come available. Best thing to do is join the ASUS PCDIY group on Facebook and wait for announcements 😊

    • @NorthernLaw_
      @NorthernLaw_ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mr_Matt_Lee Interesting, thanks for the info. You are correct, they did a poor job of explaining they were on pre-release hardware. The problem being that ASUS did a bad job of announcing it's release date, they still haven't and according to you it's already out so they just didn't even bother. The other problem being that it was accidentally released on Micro Center so that caused more confusion.
      Basically just a lot of confusion around this monitor.
      Thank you for your answer though I look forward to getting this monitor. Interesting that the LG variant sold out once or twice and hasn't been since from what I've seen, yet this one is impossible to get.

    This monitor is a must buy for me. Assuming they fix the HDR issues then I will definitely be buying it as it's currently the endgame.
    However my true endgame is this exact montior, except 4k, glossy finish, and possibly .01 ms response time. That will absolutely be coming in a few years, just need to wait. I'm sure it will be around the time the 60 series GPUs come out or possibly even the 50 series Ti variants.

    The only think with current LED technology is PWM. Thats the reason my wife is still using the iPhone 11 which has LCD screen. I heard that Mini LED doesnt have that flicker so would be curious to see how long it will take for medium range monitors to adopt Mini LED.

    Ordered a restock back in 03/23 and got it 03/25 and looked for reviews and found non, I was worried I was the only one that got it 😂 only problem I had was the DisplayPort, it kept flickering and the screen kept turning on and off, did some research and heard asus gives bad quality cords so I got DisplayPort cable and no problems ever since 🙂

    How is the alt tab experience? My pg27aqn had horrendous alt tab out of Fullscreen games, it would lose display signal like twice and take literally 5 seconds of black screen and flickering to tab back in/out

  • @Zombie101
    @Zombie101 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice! But how do they address burn in? as most who use this will leave static images on display for pc use

    • @orbitalwalsh
      @orbitalwalsh ปีที่แล้ว

      That exact model their , I left on from 8:30 to 5:30 with FF7 menu screen .
      Few built in protection methods covered within more detailed review. But heatsink is key to burn in as well as peak nit.
      Pixel clear options can be sent from off , 2/4/8 hours

      Great choice! You’re going to love it! 😁 sure, at that time code it appears to be more detailed. This isn’t the case though. What you’re seeing is the results of my camera exposure sadly. HDR has SO much variation between the darks and the brights on OLED. Whereas IPS is pretty flat. Therefore the observable dynamic range makes the blacks so dark on camera, but in person you can see those details in the blacks too 😁 hope this helps

    I would rly like to get the ASUS OLED. The problem is that defective pixels and burn-ins are not covered from the guarantee, neither from ASUS nor from LG. Only Corsair has it covered at least 3 years. Just a big minus to the other companies.

    I recently bought a new pg27aqdm~ but I always feel that the two sides of the screen are much darker than the middle one on the desktop~ and take the left as an example~ the upper left corner is slightly darker than the lower left corner~ is this normal? Or its brightness The uniformity is not very good? Or is it a defective product? But it is not obvious when playing games~
