    Asus has updated the warranty for their OLED gaming monitors to now include 2 years of panel burn-in coverage. This applies to the PG34WCDM, PG49WCD, PG27AQDM, PG48UQ, PG42UQ and upcoming models like the PG32UCDM.
    You'll see the change in the specification tab on Asus product page, so you can refer to that for warranty claims in the future

    This was a great review and one I've been waiting to hear. This monitor has been extremely good to me for the past 2.5 weeks with daily usage. I'll admit I'm afraid of burn-in so i keep my brightness at 60-70 range, but even so this is still quite bright. The response is quite amazing, and the color accuracy for me is very good. I'm very glad I made this purchase, it's the best monitor I ever owned so far, and I do hope this technology becomes the standard and the prices for these kinds of displays lessen. I use it mostly for just gaming and light youtube use, but if i do need to do any static screen work, i'll use my LCD panel.

    I'm impressed by the relative performance of the LG OLEDs in the RTINGs burn-in test preliminary results, and thinking that the higher brightness on offer here is not so much a "feature" as sliding the scale away from LG's conservative approach to burn-in to a more aggressive approach that removes the safety limits. I'm just not convinced that the bigger heatsink is enough to offset the added risk, and Asus isn't offering anything that would provide any reassurance. I would treat this as an experiment in pushing the limits of OLED brightness--and one that early adopters could get burned on.

    Thanks for this in-depth review! I have one question though and hope you're willing to read this:
    I just bought the LG version and I'm planning to switch it for this Asus one because mine is very dark (even in a dark room) and any color preset other than the default and reader mode forces smart energy saving on which reduces image quality because it constantly dims if the image isn't a really dark scenario.
    The uniformity is also pretty bad with the corners of a white screen turning yellowish
    So I've read about this monitor and it should not only be brighter and have beter uniformity but I should also be able to turn off any automatic dimming while turning the monitor as bright as I want without locking out any color presets, can you confirm this?
    You might see this comment in other places too... Thank you in advance.

  • @Savitarax
    @Savitarax ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I will say that after using this monitor for a solid day, that brightness shifter is not nearly as noticeable as people make it sound and it has an advantage.
    It helps prevent bright white flashbangs and bright whites from straining the eyes.
    The uniform brightness is still perfectly great.

    @Monitors Unboxed, can you test the relatively new Windows 11 " Auto Color Management (ACM) " a new color management that replaces the old ICC profile method? The new color management apparently supports wide gamut monitors out of the box regardless if a program is color managed or not. This means no more oversaturation in SDR for wide gamut monitors. That would be cool.

I have the PG42UQ and understand the brightness levels of OLED is a disadvantage of the tech but I don't see that being the only reason to rank monitors against each other. One thing this review completely failed to address is the fact that this monitor's HDR mode colors are completely screwed. This monitor is HORRIBLE looking, even after updating the firmware to the latest version (103). Also, there are several "HDR Presets" available while HDR is enabled, and those are broken as well, changing nothing when you select one over another. This monitor is a complete no-go for me and anyone that's ever seen actual good HDR (e.g LG C-series TVs) and expect something similar. The SDR mode on this monitor actually looks far superior. lol
    The LG 27" OLED is far better than this monitor, even considering the brightness. It's clear that Asus took this panel and went nuts with it, and completely destroyed color reproduction in the process. I'm not sure why this was completely glossed over in the review, but seems a bit disingenuous.
    Update: I've purchased (and returned) this Asus monitor twice now, having tested it a 2nd time after the latest firmware update. The colors are still atrocious. I settled on the LG 27GR95QE-B 240Hz OLED monitor. The brightness is not a concern for me since I just bought some curtains, and the color reproduction on this LG is FAR, FAR better than the Asus. HDMI 2.1 is a great addition as well, along with the fact the ports come straight out the back of the monitor chassis, unlike the bottom-fed ports on the Asus.
