Biggest thing I can say, is if you have a P71 don’t waste money on a KN intake. Stick with the P71 stock airbox and a KN drop in filter. If you don’t got a P71 get a junkyard P71 intake and you’ll be alright. Many folks get the KN kit and find it throws codes and doesn’t work as well as you’d think. Other than that, you’re pretty spot on.
The K&N setup is also crazy expensive for basically a non gain over the stock box. When I had my P71 I went all in on suspension (thanks ADTR you dudes kick ass). I already had the 3.55 Tru track rear so it moved decently with just a K&N drop in, J mod and full exhaust.
Well this is a video I didn't think I'd see. "How to modify a car you bought for $500 a decade ago." All seriousness, my Mercury is a great daily and I love the bench 😏

Man, visit your local scrap yard, some times they have those panthers with up grades, you pick it up and pay half of the prices. I get a full magnaflow, slotted and drilled disk breaks, fuel injectors.. visit it and see what u can get
I got an 04 town car build. If you have a panther start with the rear control arms and watts link arms and and ECU tune. Next get your gears and your coil overs. Depending on how you drive throw on the front and rear sway bars. If you are not trying to go too crazy this is a fun set up.
I have a 2000 Mercury Marquis GS that was my mother's that I inherited. It has the high performance 4.6 interceptor motor with air suspension, posi track rear end, dual exhaust and only 29,799.0 original miles. I now have it at my home, and I have replaced the blend-door-module (which was painful to say the least), and I have 2 new rear exhaust insulators to hang the rear twin exhaust. It is truly a bad ass car, and it lays rubber doing 60 MPH. My mother (bless her soul) always had a hot car because of my father, and I miss my dad and mom both. My mom had a 1968 Ford GT Fastback Mustang with a 4 speed and air conditioning (that I wish I had now), and she then got the 1970 Pontiac Bonneville 2 Door with skirts and the HO 455 motor with the Turbo Hydromatic 400 transmission. With that car I raced a 1970 Plymouth Superbird, and it just barely beat my mom's Pontiac. I am 67 years old, and I grew up during the Factory Hotrods through 1970. Take care/
I loved my crown Vic when we had them as patrol cars . I had 2011 4.6 l that thing was mean lol for back then . My exploder is faster and handles better but God do I miss hearing that 4.6 whine up and haul when I kicked my blues on lmao
As European im obsessed in 200% about any gen of Crown Vic (and other american On-Frame land yachts), everyday i see only 1.0L-1.6L boring 3 or 4 banger economy shitboxes, sometimes German cars with about 3.0L 6 cyls but when i see one car with over 4 litres and rwd its just UNREAL, i dont care that they have its issues, steering is worse but... just how they look, sound and just their way to be. Amazing.
I have had every pretentious twat car there is: Audi, Saab, Alfa Romeo, BMW, Benz. The response other motorists have to a stock black mercury grand Marquis makes up for any vagueness in the rack and pinion steering, and the air suspension meant I could drive 900+ miles a day for four days and feel fine when I got to California. My Alfa 159 was fun to drive, and the Saabs were great too. The Grand Marquis is a pleasure to ride in and watch the miles go by. The fact that everyone around you subconsciously checks themselves and gets out of your way makes it an easy car to drive.
finally! someone who measures the world in how many crown vics he can buy. i thought i was the only one. this is the 4 door sn95/new edge. (some say fox but let’s be real). only thing that is annoying is the speed. need more speed once you do everything to it, literally everything to it. it’s the most fun you will have with 250 hp. this is fords “scat pack charger”. my biggest recommendation for the car is to do literally everything to it before looking for speed. go for gears, tune, suspension, wheels, sway bars, etc before you even touch the engine. you build and learn this boat and you will have the most fun ever.
The 03+ Vics actually have a better rear suspension setup than sn95/non-cobra new edges/s197 Mustangs. The Vics have a watts-link while the Mustangs, until they went full IRS with the s550, have a 3-link panhard setup.

I daily a 93 crown vic. I am the second owner. First was my dad. I learned how to drive in that car 29 years ago. And currently, I'm teaching my kid how to drive in the car. It is one of my most prized possessions.
I can appreciate this guy's efforts to sell K&N intakes and Magnaflow exhausts on his website, hey he does have a business to run. But those are two of the worst wastes of money for your P71/P7B Crown Vic. The factory police package induction and exhaust flows about as well or better than any N/A 2-valve 4.6 will ever need, especially without a tune. In fact, the factory cold air intake system flows exceptionally well. It was developed alongside the Mercury Marauder. A K&N won't help you, and the oil from the filter will give you MAF issues. Skip. Anybody who really cares to know these cars knows rear end gears (swap to 3.73 or 4.10), a basic Ford limited slip (if your car didn't already come with one) and a Marty Ochs (Mo's Speed Shop) tune (via SCT X4 tuner) are the only mods worth any money. You can do both for under $1500 and have a substantially faster and improved car. Next, if you must spend more money, consider suspension work - and this can be as simple as replacing OEM control arms and bushings. Maybe get a beefy ADTR rear swaybar. If you wanna drop it, get the Ridetech coilover kit. If you really want to earn your stripes, go for the 5-speed swap - it's relatively easy and my sweet Lord combined with the above mods, you'll never have more fun in a Crown Vic. Boom...you're done modifying your Crown Vic. It'll never be any better, unless you step into the relm of forced induction which let's be honest, only 1% of us will do. Ported intake plenums, throttle body spacers, CAI and exhausts (including headers) are all wasted money. The Panther 2-valve sucks and blows more air than it needs just the way Ford built it. The only exception would be on NON-POLICE package (grandma) cars or cars older than 2003, where an improved CAI and dual exhaust would actually really help. And let me end by saying that Cleetus MacFarland is a dumbass and anyone who loves P71/P7B Crown Vics feels (or should feel) the same way.
Stock coil overs usually just need new boots, the wire hardens. Replace baskets inside the injectors change spark plugs, 500,000 w 2,5000-3,500 oil/filter service no problem. Mustang Sedan on an F-150 frame. Zip tie on the throttle cable is worth the 1 penny it costs. PVC pipe replacing intake muffler is worth the effort. avoid the other stuff enjoy the ride. Cup hollders are truly of the Devil himself.
From someone who has done about half of the ADRR catalog, the ported intake plenum and cat back is no waste of money. The factory exhaust is crush bent and very low flow. Headers and a catback with the intake plenum pulls like a freight train above 3k RPM. LOTS of suspension mods will do well. Start with shocks, then sway bars, then control arms and watts link. KYB Gas a Just is the best value option next to coilovers. I do regret the ADTR zip tube and underdrive pulleys. Other than that, I love every other mod
2006 crown Vic. Inspected and emission stickers and a daily driver. Everything is 20 years old and being in the rust belt isn’t fun. Pb blaster knows this car well. Slowly replacing stuff. Alternator is now 200 amp ..all suspension replaced…true duel exhaust no x pipe with rear cat delete and cold air intake along with high flow water pump and fuel filter..rear shocks and she stops on slotted and vented rotors but I’ve only owned for two years. Still working out all the bugs
I wouldn’t listen to people telling you to modify your cvpi, I’ve owned a lot of them and they make great daily’s but as soon as your start messing around and tuning and upgrading things you’ll have something new break every week. Also idk what’s wrong with people steelies are the best look for the crown Vic and conti tires are mid. Keep it stock and take care of it and it will outlive you
Idk I gave mine the, open up the ADTR suspension catalog and select add to cart for all, treatment and I never had any issues with it and I put alot of HARD miles on that car. I also didn't really touch the drive train outside a full exhaust system and K&N drop in.
I’ve had my p71 for nearly 3.5 years and have nearly every bolt-on there is for the Panther platform. I have had NO issues whatsoever. Drove it to Jersey from Florida and back. I opened it up several times on that trip and the only thing I had to do was an oil change. Name the bolt-on for the Panther platform and 9 times out of 10 I have it on my 07. I have Continental sure contacts on my steelies and Continental extreme contacts on my billet rims and love them.
Got mine at auction about 5 years ago, when you could still pick one up with low miles for around 2k. Mine had 80k on the clock and low idle hours. I got it to use as a daily 'cause I was broke and needed bomb-proof wheels. All I've done is respray it in the driveway, fish a back seat out of the junkyard, put an Ebay steering wheel from a similar year Lincoln on it ($35) for cruise control, and hack a hands-free infotainment system into it. Left the ride height and steelies alone and put chrome lugs and bullets on 'em. I like the look a lot; I wasn't going for the cop look at all. So far, I've driven the wheels off it and whatever breaks, I can fix easily. I love this fucking car!
I got a all black p71 from GSP in Georgia , it was 10k out the door but it came straight from the police department and had a lot of work done to it . I had p71 s in the past and this one out shines them .
I love the fact that more people are liking Crown Vics. I hate that fact also. Yes to make them “fast” takes a lot of cash if modifying the 4.6 2v. Don’t swap in a LS. You bought a Ford.
I bought a 2010 police interceptor back in June and love it it's clean and alot of new parts. I drive it on the daily. Need something for a little extra oomph
Manual swap it! Mustang trans bolts right up to the motor, you can literally do it in a weekend and I did the whole swap for under 1000$. Now I'm doing 4.6 4V swap to go with the new manuel!
Dude, I know they upgraded the Panther frame in 2003 and gave it a rack and pinion steering box, but my 2000 Grand Marquis goes exactly where I tell it to with no more than thumb and forefinger on the wheel, even though she doesn't have the HPP package. Of course, I learned how to drift in a '78 Country Squire wagon, so getting big Fords around corners quickly is something I learned a long, long time ago in a city 15 minutes away. I'm slowly upgrading my baby with parts from ADTR, CHE Performance and Summit. Next is a dual exhaust and cams... These cars are the most comfortable corner-carving couches on the road 😊
Panther platform cars are absolutely addictive, incredible chassis and mod motors have tons of potential, even while na. Talk to chris from ADTR for parts and Marty from Mo's speed shop for all your tuning needs
You made a Crown Vic video, of course I subbed! I have a '07 P71, '08 Saab 9-7x 5.3i ( yes it needs a cam and lifters), '98 STS, and '16 Caprice PPV with the 6.0 L77
They aren't really $2,500 anymore if you didn't know. Unless you are looking for an older rusty beater with 200k+ miles and peeling paint. You want a somewhat pristine 2010 or 2011 with around 100k miles expect to pay $5,000 at least
I lucked out on mine, police equipment still inside, not a scratch on it, only 90,000 miles and a police department installed back up sensor kit for only $4,000
intake upgrades are probably the biggest waste of money u can do with these things. almost all the aftermarket intakes are just as big or smaller than stock p71/p7b ones. only intake upgrade u can really do is ford performance/edelbrock intake man, 5.4 throttle body, and adtr intake piping (which is $200 so wouldnt recommend). best suspension setup ive come to find are viking front coilovers (~$800) viking rear shocks and mustang springs (~$600) ADTR/Metco front and rear sway bars ($250-300 each) Metco watts link ($500) and Metco/Heinous rear control arms (~$500)
I bought a 2007 or 2008 (dont even remember at this point) P71 like a decade ago for $3.5k. It needed a turn signal bulb, a windshield wiper motor, and a window switch. Been going ever since.
I bought one for the specific reason to Pro charge it and bag it.. keeping a look super clean but stock and having custom made rims that look like the stock black cop rims with the silver hubcap but in 20’. Going to do tons of other things can’t list them all I don’t care about the price of a car versus what I’m planning on putting into it that’s how most builds go anyways the parts and labor/time are almost always worth more than the car itself and plus I’ve always wanted one.
I have a 2011 cvpi I picked up from auction early 2023. One guy was snatching them up and I kinda got in a bidding match with him and paid more than I should have. Oh well Absolutely love this car except when I have to stop for gas. Been thinking about upgrading the exhaust system when I can afford to and maybe get some American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels. They look sharp as hell imo
Affordable at auctions, hopefully powerful enough to pull my 5,000 lb camper on the highway, and sure to get fast lane hogs to jump in the right lane. Oversized alternator and a large trunk will nicely accommodate a pair or two of 12' subwoofers and a large amp to drive them.
I got a 07 I’m debating on what to do with it but i might build it o do recommend taking it to a shop if you tint it tried to tint it by myself with friends and it didn’t work out all that well
I don't see why people think this car is NOT a looker. The rear window is a bit blunt, I guess, but it's just such a nice blend of modern sleekness, and the more classical 50s/60s "bubbliness" It's a "grandpa car" solely because the people who bought it when new happened to be reasonably well off, retired, and looking for a comfortable ride without a lot of maintenance hassle. Those same qualities now make it a perfect used car
How to mod: 3-5 inch lift kit, 30.5-33 inch tires, cold air intake (not a short ram), remove muffler, and if you’re crazy, kenne belle supercharger kit for 2v 4.6 mustang
I want a crown victoria modified with manual transmission gear and the handle in right side as I don't live in America. Do you have any ideas for the modifications I have suggested?
I have drove them since 2000, way b4 it was cool, the last one I got 2009 P71 I did a 1985 C-10 swap the only C-10 crown vic swap. I have the only one, every one has done F100 crown vic swaps, so i decided to piss off ford and chevy people...lol I call it HalfBreed, live your content and if you would like to see and hear my C-71 let me know, it does not sound close to a crown vic , only the start up.
These cars are phenomenal. They don’t look the best from factory in my opinion but I just did the big three wheels/tires, exhaust, and suspension and it completely transformed the car. I agree it’s a fat miata😂 I will say I NEVER looked at cheap Vic’s.
People talk about these cars exploding in value. While I do absolutely agree the 98-11 are really going up. The Aero body Vic’s are still very fairly price. I got a 92 Crown Vic for 2k last year with 82k miles. Virtually NO rust. Inside car all its life. They’re all over Facebook market place at fair price. The handling is a lot more primitive, they’re not as fast, the engine is not as modifiable, and a lot of people don’t like the look. It has really really grown on me. Especially the grill-less 92
99-03 best years, spark plugs are a common issue only because its 4 or 5 thread i forgot but re threading will probably be in your future no big deal, that was my only real issue with crown vics other than that literal tanks
please do note that there is a ton of shit you can do to these cars to save a ton of money like buying used parts for the manual swap etc. ive seen people manual swap it at home for a little under $1-1.5k & plenty of budget ways to boost it under $2-3k. another common thing people do that works well is front coilovers + cut springs in the rear
@@aronstuckey5499 How does it look cosmetically? How's the interior quality? How many owners, etc? All of those things to consider when valuing the crown vic. From the sounds of it, paying $1,500 in the past five years for a GOOD crown vic, you either have a few things wrong with it , making it so cheap.. or the person selling it, devalued it, and you got a VERY good deal. Either of those options.
crap i've got a mullet and have owned like 15 of these since i started driving, currently just 2 one extra parts frame and engine and a 89 wagon, gonna pick up a gm next week and i have a donor 2013 f150 5.0 coyote driveline for one of them
Lol this was a great video but damn why you gotta be dissing on the dropouts and little kids... I'm a drop out watching this with my 4 year old daughter 😂
I can confirm, crown vics are like the gateway drugs of the car world. Just look at my account, I couldn't stop with one lol, I just HAD to buy two more...
Haha wish mine had made it in the video! But that’s alright awesome video they are cancerous after you buy one you’ll keep buying them. I’m on my 9th one 🤣
Mo's Speed Shop and ADTR.net are THE places to start for the Panther platform. Go there and learn first. I own a 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis with following mods. Custom springs with KYB shocks, AFE CIA, ported and polished throttle body, Marty tune SCT tuner (engine and tranny), plugs, dual exhaust with flow master flow through mufflers, rear end changed from 2.73 to 3.27. Stock 0-60 mph was 8.9 sec. These mods took me to 7.0 on regular gas and I get about 23 mpg on highway trips. Car has 70k miles and I'm about $7500 all in.
Mustang wheels any year Facebook marketplace. Got some off a 2015 mustang for my Vic for $250 and got some ford logo center caps to match. Really looks stock and modernizes the look
03+ will fit S197 and S550 wheels fine. 02- will fit 04- mustang wheels just fine except Bullits. Pre 05 mustang wheels on an 03+ will require spacers to fit right.
These cars are hot rods in disguise, look how many f100 swaps are being done. There great cars and there’s finally a video of how to modify one and not derby one

Ultimate budget daily for an enthusiast. Love my 05 p71
Got one same year
I've owned 2 and they both were good daily drivers besides the 03 having a coolant leak, intermittent misfire in overdrive and bad balljoints.

I love my 03 Zombie Vic and yes it looks like a cop car! Very polite people on the road when I’m cruising in it!😊
I got a all black p71 from GSP in Georgia , it was 10k out the door but it came straight from the police department and had a lot of work done to it . I had p71 s in the past and this one out shines them .
Bought my p71 at 197k miles for 2k, still runs like a dream
Do you think that would support having 24in rims lol ?
Best car ever built.
I'm about to buy my third Crown Victoria.. they all still work but I need more
I will personally always love my 2005 P71. She may be almost 20 years old but she still roars like shes fresh off the assembly line
They aren't really $2,500 anymore if you didn't know. Unless you are looking for an older rusty beater with 200k+ miles and peeling paint. You want a somewhat pristine 2010 or 2011 with around 100k miles expect to pay $5,000 at least
Payed $2000 for my mint 2011 police interceptor with 120,000 miles
@Thatclapped_vq unless you got a lucky deal or knew the person the average going price for them is round about $5,000 clean
@@Thatclapped_vqpolice cars have those idle hours they'll almost always be cheaper
$5000 minimum, for a beater. Anything well preserved and rust free with zero mech issues and shiny paint? $10,000-$14,000
Great now I want one. Thanks Alex 😂
No, you want 3.
I bought a 2007 or 2008 (dont even remember at this point) P71 like a decade ago for $3.5k. It needed a turn signal bulb, a windshield wiper motor, and a window switch. Been going ever since.
Gotta do a G37 video for this series🙌🏼 love these videos, and the intro😮💨
I love the history aspects of your videos. Cannot get enough fr ❤
Oh my goodness this dude spazzed dafuq out on this one! 😅😂!
2:00 nice TOO APREE reference. very chill.
nice donut imitation. old school james would be proud.
Just what I needed
Honestly I like the stock sound of the Vic from the inside
P71 doesn't have the intake silencers like the civilian models, and a slightly larger opening on the air box. Makes the engine noise much better.
Marty tune i heard is amazing. My 09 is rolling over 300k and still going. Well was going , it needs some work 😂 can’t wait to build it
I Love My Vic
This makes me happy
Finally this is awesome thank you alex !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
love the fact this video come out after i got an 05 vic that i paid 2500$ for with 77k miles lmao
I got a 07 for $2400 w/ 88k miles 🥹
@@ogbiggconrod362noice i just rolled over to 80k 600 miles ago lol on my way there
@@ogbiggconrod362how do yall be finding these good deals
I have a 2011 cvpi I picked up from auction early 2023. One guy was snatching them up and I kinda got in a bidding match with him and paid more than I should have. Oh well
Absolutely love this car except when I have to stop for gas. Been thinking about upgrading the exhaust system when I can afford to and maybe get some American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels. They look sharp as hell imo
The crown Victoria is iconic
Hey the crown vic is a great looking car!!
Where are you finding a good running and driving crown vic for $1,500?
Just bought a 98 crown Vic for 200$ all it needed was a battery, new tires, spark plugs and spark plug wires
" casue we all fucking are casue money's not real!" Alex 2024 preaching gotta love the platform panther
I got a 07 I’m debating on what to do with it but i might build it o do recommend taking it to a shop if you tint it tried to tint it by myself with friends and it didn’t work out all that well
I don't see why people think this car is NOT a looker. The rear window is a bit blunt, I guess, but it's just such a nice blend of modern sleekness, and the more classical 50s/60s "bubbliness"
It's a "grandpa car" solely because the people who bought it when new happened to be reasonably well off, retired, and looking for a comfortable ride without a lot of maintenance hassle. Those same qualities now make it a perfect used car
How to mod: 3-5 inch lift kit, 30.5-33 inch tires, cold air intake (not a short ram), remove muffler, and if you’re crazy, kenne belle supercharger kit for 2v 4.6 mustang
You know... for a second I thought you were about to say but head on over to martiniworks because we will be making budget friendly coilovers ☹️
This is the content we are all here for lol
K&N intake throws the mass airflow sensor. Do you get around this by using the dry filter option?
Masterpiece
You should do the thunderbird 1993-1997
99-03 best years, spark plugs are a common issue only because its 4 or 5 thread i forgot but re threading will probably be in your future no big deal, that was my only real issue with crown vics other than that literal tanks
How just gotten an 02 is that a good one?
MO vic MO betta
Love my 05 p71
I love my 03 P71. I got the most bad ass sticker ever
please do note that there is a ton of shit you can do to these cars to save a ton of money like buying used parts for the manual swap etc. ive seen people manual swap it at home for a little under $1-1.5k & plenty of budget ways to boost it under $2-3k. another common thing people do that works well is front coilovers + cut springs in the rear
Where you finding a decent crown Vic for $2,500? ... Try 5k minimum for "decent" - closer to 8k for "nice/clean"
Got a 2010 police interceptor runs drives stops just fine 150k miles 3k idle hours $1500
It is a good looking car. Its looks like a cars car. It looks like the exact way a car is supposed to look.
Leave the intake alone stock is better than the k&n hot air intake
I love my 01 P71❤ almost at 225,000💪
You should do a how to modify 4th gen Camaro or firebird. They are super cheap and everywhere.
You know Martini knows nothing about modding engines when he says the mods are limited for this one.....
Lol...
Lmao....
crap i've got a mullet and have owned like 15 of these since i started driving, currently just 2 one extra parts frame and engine and a 89 wagon, gonna pick up a gm next week and i have a donor 2013 f150 5.0 coyote driveline for one of them
hell yeah that 5.0 is gonna wake it up for sure💪my dream swap next to the 7.3 godzilla
Please do a video on the 9th gen civic🙌🏼
If anyone has some good knowledge on these vics. I have a few questions about my 08 PI that i built to race on oval tracks
Hell yeah brother
Lol this was a great video but damn why you gotta be dissing on the dropouts and little kids... I'm a drop out watching this with my 4 year old daughter 😂
I've owned one of each flavor except marauder. Never more than one at a time though
Lmao I didn't expect this 🤣🤣
I can confirm, crown vics are like the gateway drugs of the car world. Just look at my account, I couldn't stop with one lol, I just HAD to buy two more...
Just bought Lincoln Town Car for 300 bucks and we're gonna Lemons it.
Haha wish mine had made it in the video! But that’s alright awesome video they are cancerous after you buy one you’ll keep buying them. I’m on my 9th one 🤣
1995 179k miles on my pqnther
I’m waiting on the how to modify a nbs Silverado/Sierra
how do i modify a 2011 chevy impala ltz
Marty tune is the only way
Mo's Speed Shop and ADTR.net are THE places to start for the Panther platform. Car has 70k miles and I'm about $7500 all in.
i have a licon town car, one thing i would recimend is to check the air bags on a lincon town car becaue when i got mine they blew out almost imidlt
do a video on a lexus es350
Mustang wheels any year Facebook marketplace. Got some off a 2015 mustang for my Vic for $250 and got some ford logo center caps to match. Really looks stock and modernizes the look
03+ will fit S197 and S550 wheels fine. 02- will fit 04- mustang wheels just fine except Bullits. Pre 05 mustang wheels on an 03+ will require spacers to fit right.
Sorry all my parts are from ADTR
These cars are hot rods in disguise, look how many f100 swaps are being done. There great cars and there’s finally a video of how to modify one and not derby one
Step 1: Glass packs! Step 2: Sky Jack it! Step 3: ?!?!?! Step 4: 26s!!
These cars sadly arent 2k anymore unless really banged up the truth came out a few years ago hole good the platform is
